I believe you have finally solved the Sawdust collection problem for Mitre Saws. Congratulations for thinking out of the box! I would like to do a similar solution for my older Makita LS1013L !0 inch mitre saw. I have been fighting the sawdust problem for years, with some successes here & there. I won't bore you with the details as you have demonstrated enough mistakes yourself. You have learned from them & that's what is most important that's what mistakes are for. Currently I have a 4 in diameter feed to all but one of my machines, ( Mitre Saw) which is connected to a collector with 2 micron filter. The Mitre saw resides in an enclosure which captures about 80 % of the dust. It is set up for the ducting to be added, BUT even if I can get 90% It just wasn't worth the trouble to run that Line. I have watched at leased a dozen Videos with great ideas that almost worked. Finnaly you solved the problem, I believe. Of course the geometry that fits the Dewalt saws almost certainly won't fit my Makita. But innovation doesn't have to stop here. I will purchase one of your gizmos and study it for the appropriate mods. It might just work for me. Those crafty Japanese figured out how th put the curf in the center of the insert on the Makita!

I have a DWS780 compound saw. The one with the long tube in the back that people hate when they don't have a vacuum system. Dust still goes all over. Would be nice to find a better way but I don't think your system will benefit this model. I've tried to increase the "catcher' with rubber from innertubes but am only partly successful. Needs a better design.

I installed the insert and dust collector boot on my old DW715. It fit perfectly and works better than I expected. I used an inexpensive small Stanley shop vac with a 1.25" hose. I've been fighting with dust collection on my miter saw for years. I've tried several different DIY solutions, and spent far too much time and effort on it. This is the best solution I've tried, and the easiest! BTW, I'm not affiliated or compensated in any way, just a happy customer.

I bought everything needed to put this on my new Dewalt DWS716. All I can say, is WOW! This design is unbelievable good at mitigating dust. 100%? No. But, close enough. My old saw (I sold it so I could buy this and the InspireWoodcraft parts to put on it) spewed dust everywhere. I am actually allergic to some woods and I have asthma. So this is a fantastic solution. The insert looks similar to the Colliflower insert which is a good design. The below insert chute looks like a viable dust collection solution until you have to bevel the blade to an angle other than 90 degrees. If there is sufficient room to make the chute wider, it could possibly work for all saw positions. Steve

Congrats on the success your zero clearance lower plate “trough” provides with improved dust collection. Will you be making for other brands? Would love one for my Makita 1019l 10” slider....

Cool! What do you do with beveled cuts? Replace the new insert with the factory one ?

Great items. Do you know anyone who does the same thing for older Bosch 440s? Good stuff

I sure wish there was one of these for my Milwaukee. I hooked up a hose to my collector, but I get the same issues with dust flying everywhere else but behind the blade, where the vacuum is.

Do you think it’s possible to make one for the Bosch 12" axial saw? Or the fact that the bevel is too much of a problem?

Would the silicone boot work on other brands of saw?

I would love to see the .STL file for the zero-clearance insert included as part of the kit - that way I can print replacements.

This is fantastic! I don't have a Dewalt miter saw, but if you ever make and sell comparable pieces for Milwaukee's 10" saw, I'll order one right away.

Does anyone know if Dewalt will ever bring out a space saving sliding miter saw like the Bosch and Ridgid, or the Metabo?
    Thanks.

@hansangb I apologize! It should be going up later today. Along with replacement inserts. I think I jumped the gun a little early on this one 😆
