In this video, I turn 2 used pallets into this awesome mountain bike jump and you can download the plans to build your own.
There are many reasons why you shouldn’t build with pallet wood and they are unsuitable for public mountain bike trails.
Some of the links above are affiliate links, meaning I may earn a small amount of money if you make a purchase using it. It does not cost you anything extra and is a great way to support the channel.

Red and black like your Tshirt, not that there's anything wrong with blue and orange!

You just showed me I dont need mountains for a good jump. The Netherlands will be an amazing riding experience with pallets now!
For sure! I bet there are lots of places you could set a kicker like this up and have a lot of fun.
Als je er een hebt gemaakt, hopelijk woon je in Haarlem 😂
@@Bigpapa846 Helaas haha
DUDE this vid was sick as, It's seriously making me want to make one now. YEEEWW.
Oooh yeah! Thanks mate

Nice build!
It's a good idea to prime the wood first and the top layer will be much nicer if you mix it with a bit of sand to prevent it being slippery, as it can easily get after being painted with high gloss paint like it looks like you used.
But loving the idea.
Adding sand is a great idea for extra grip. The paint I used is actually self priming with a matt finish.
I absolutely love your videos. I have began my small MTB bark in my back woods solely from seeing you videos and thinking how cool it would be to build stuff like yourself. Absolutely stoked for the next video. Keep on with your great work!
Dude that's so cool! Hope you have a great time out there digging and riding.
@@cutlaps Thanks man, you too!
You’re amazing you’ve inspired me so much to start mountain biking again keep up the AMAZING work!❤❤
That is awesome to read! Thank you
Hey Mate, your videos have inspired me to build my own jumps you have given me some courage to go outside and be creative. The measurements will definitely help me. Keep the awesome ideas and videos up and have good day.
Thanks legend! That's awesome to hear! It's so fun being creative outside building trails. Let me know if you have any questions, I'm always happy to help.
So awesome! The pallet is a mega building block for all Trials riders, too - it's the key to our progression. We just stack them up (and strap them together) to jump higher and higher!
Oh nice! Trials ridng is so impressive, blows my mind some of the stuff you guys do.
Love it!! My son and I have been building jumps and skinnies out of pallets for a while now, but this video showed me that I need to step up my game! Thank you for the details!!
Sounds like a lot of fun for you guys. I was kinda suprised how well the kicker came together. It's solid and hard to tell it was even a couple of pallets to begin with.
Recently came across your channel and it's definitely one of my new favorites. Your trails and all the unique features you've made yourself are so sick and I'm definitely going to attempt to do some fun stuff in my backyard 🤘
Awesome mate! So much fun building and riding your own trails. You will have a lot of fun.
mate, what ya doing is sick. being able to watch your videos probably made my day. in lockdown we built bike trails in our backyard, we haven't made any wooden kickers yet but this make it seem simple to do so. you should make a vid on how ho make a skinny out of pallets.
Lock down was so good for backyard trails. I actually had a good time duing lock down lol. A pallet skinny could be fun.
Dude that kicker is sick! Cheers to letting us use the plans man. I dont think any other RUclipsr would do such a thing for their viewers!
Me and my dad are planning on making one soon! 🎉
Awesome mate. Hope you have a fun time building it with your dad!
Just want to say a big thank you.
My daughter really enjoyed building the ramp following your plans as well as riding it.
Top man big thumbs up
Very cool! Stoked it worked well and she is enjoying it! Thank you for wtching.
your my favorite streamer and i admire how you teach us thing that has inspired myself to build my own backyard jumps thank you so much. you are the best streamer my opinion.
Awesome video Luke, you've inspired my son and I to have a crack at this project together 🤙 great way to recycle some materials too 😎
Very cool! You may want to check out my latest video as well. I have a new kicker plan that is easier to build.
This video was really helpful. I have been using the top of an old bench and some bricks as a jump. I will hopefully make this and use it a lot!
That reminds me of one of my first jumps. A couple of bricks and a metal grate I found.
Amazing man. My young men found your channel and we all watch together now. And I am sure we are going to have to build this ramp this weekend!
Very cool to hear! Iv'e had some great comments and emails from families that watch my videos together. It puts a smile on my face. Thank you.
Thanks when i get a bike i neeed jumps in my backyard and this will help me your saving me money thank you again
Hope you get a bike soon!
thanks@@cutlaps
Have a wee five year here who really likes how you make the pallet jumps and how you make the bridge 😊
Very cool! You cold have a little trail builder on your hands
I love the way you used the pallets for a jump. It’s inspired me to make my own!
Awesome good luck with your build. Always be careful with pallets, some of the wood can be a bit dodgy.
3:13 That has got to be the most efficient design to reduce wasted wood 🙌🏼
I was so stoked with how well it all fit together. Just enough solid bits of wood for the supports.
Anyone else rewatch this five times? This is a EXTREMELY good video, keep up the amazing work bro.
Hahah glad you are enjoying it. I have started the video edit for the next one today.
Rewatching for the 3rd time. Such a well made video. All of his vids are so good
WOW !!, just wow. Very awesome video. I just subscribed and liked.
The second you put the pic up of the second ramp side, I saw what you did because I still do that from time to time, but used to do it all the time. It was so awesome that you put that goof up for us to learn from and your fix for it.
Thanks for the sub and liking! Yeah it is a mistake I will definitely make again in the future haha. I did remember for the latest build at least.
That is the strongest looking pallet jump I've ever seen 😮very well built 👌
Thanks mate! I just hope it stays that way. Always good to check over it before each use, pallet wood can fall apart easy haha
Mate during covid I built something like thing just it was a quarter pipe for a skateboard! I used bunnings wood so not entirely free but for the metal coping I used a pole that I found in a dump that was used for a street sign. Great content and not too long since the last vid ! I hope this turns into a full blown jump park in that open space of yours! Keep on making quality content!
=)
That sounds awesome. I built a half pipe as for a project in my final year of school. The street sign is a good idea for the coping.
Love re-using old pallets! I've made some outdoor furniture, house decor, and even an outdoor bar out of old pallets. Can definitely be frustrating trying to get them apart or the old nails out. May have to build me an mtb jump too!
Oh nice, how did the outdoor bar hold up in the weather? That could be a cool project for me to do. The pallet buster tool definitely made it easier.
@@cutlaps it's held up pretty well so far! I used an outdoor gel stain for a patio/deck on all the boards, then even tried using some epoxy for the bar top. That was my first time ever attempting that so it's not the best and has some bubbles in it. Definitely recommend though if you're looking for a cheap bar idea!
@@aschman18 Nice, good work. I haven't used epoxy either but have seen it in lots of woodworking videos. I always thought popping the bubbles with the heat gun would be so satisfying.
I work with pallets everyday and never saw this potential in them, great video man!
Thanks mate.
Yo just started watching a couple of months ago and I am addicted in the best way possible love your stuff man keep it👍
Awesome! Thanks mate. I hope its a healthy addiction.
That looks sick I’m going to make that right away
Hey mate! Love your work.. Just built a dirt jump myself, but we dont have the same dirt as you, its a mix of red and brown. Love the videos, keep up the good work, and please keep posting we love your videos. you have inspired us to make our own jumps and just send it!!
Thats awesome mate! It's cool how much dirt changes from place to place. I get some good clay at my place and really dusty stuff on top.
@@cutlaps nice! how much are your shirts? i think theyre really cool and i want to buy one
@@TheBackyardMTB Hey mate, it depends what country you are in. I ship shirts all over the world but the price changes depending on the conversion rates. I have free shipping to Australia and the USA at the moment. Check out my website cutlaps.com to see the shirts and prices. And don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Cheers
Look for heat treated pallets they will last a lot longer without having to treat them. My Wild Woody feature in my backyard trail is going on almost 3 years now with no issues. Fun build Luke.
Yeah the place I got my pallets from didn't have any with the HT stamp, actually they didn't have any stamps at all. Thats pretty impressive that it's still going after 3 years. Have you got any new trail builds on the way?
Great build! Pallets are perfect for bridges in my backyard R/C track.
If time allows, painting the wood on all six sides, before assembly, will help it last even longer outdoors. Paint it grey, with yellow chevrons, make it look like the launch ramp of an aircraft carrier 👍
Yeah when I started painting I realised it would have been a lot easier to do before I screwed all the boards down. Oh well you love and you learn.
I just landed on your page. Wish I found it earlier but here I am. Great stuff!
Hey mate, glad you found your way to my channel. We had a little chat in the comments on your live stream with Run Bike Mike a year or two ago. Hope your channel is doing well.
@@cutlaps Oh ok! I think I also saw some of your chat on B1ker Bar? Anyway. Love what you’re doin! Keep up the great work!!
Just found the channel and am building my own trails this summer. Can’t wait to try out a pallet kicker!
Thats awesome, glad you found my channel then!
Thanks für this great Tutorial its just so easy to gather that much wood for free, I build something by my own with the same idea and it worked out perfect!
Glad your idea worked out perfect! Kickers are fun to ride.
Thanks for the idea !!! I could build one and put the ramp in my MTB track that i made in the forest.
Sounds good dude! JUst be careful leaving pallet wood in the forest. It really doesn't last long and can break easy. Keep an eye on it.
I gotta do this! Thanks for the idea.
No worries!
my dad made bike ramps out of old fencing for my siblings and I as kids, this design looks like a bit of an upgrade, I might need to one up him!
Haha go for it! We used to build kickers out of old fences as a kid as well.
That kicker is sick, I want to make my own!
You should, it's a lot of fun
Another great cutlaps video. ive been doing a similar thing with and old bed frame and its great fun
great video luke!
Oh that sounds cool. I would love to see some photos and videos.
hey man, just finish the video, and after seeing how you made it just from just some pallets, its made me to want build one of my own in my backyard. Cheers!
Awesome, hope it goes well!
Excellent video, awesome kicker, great subtle music and most of all - your narrating was well done and easy to listen to 😊
Awesome, tahts what I like to hear. Thank you for watching.
Thanks mate!
u really helped me with the pallets because i wanted to build a kicker just like yours and build my mom a table and a bench fot her front yard but i didnt knew where to get pallets from
I hope you can find pallets as easy as I can. Good luck.
Sick video thanks Im gonna build my own jumps thanks for the inspiration love the Shirts by the way
Very cool! I have a new shirt deisgn coming out soon as well. Hope you have fun building jumps.
Cool way to use an old pallet and turn it into something fun! I made a similar kicker ramp and what makes it fun is how easy it is to move around. Now I can turn my grassy null into a double haha 😄
Keep up the good work man!
So cool to have a portable kicker so you can send it anywhere.
Just built this, my first project without help from my dad! But spent a while converting centimeters to inches, also had to edit the plans to make them 96% the og size. Fun but almost died on the first run!
Haha awesome! Stoked you built it and survived your first jump! Did you use google to convert the measurments? Thats what I do when I include imperial measurments.
you may not remember me but i commented on one of your older videos and i just want to say that this would be an amazing adition to my trails
Very cool, glad to be able to help out!
Solid Video, thanks! I've been wanting to get into doing jumps and I've never known where to start, this seems like the perfect thing to grow my confidence. Thanks mate!
Awesome, yeah I don't have much confidence when it comes to jumps either. So this will help me work on my pop. I think I need something a littlebit bigger now.
I Love your videos and think you deserve more subscribers for how much effort you put into your videos.
Thank you! The community is growing which is really cool to see.
@@cutlaps can’t wait to see how far this goes. Keep it up!
Nice video mate, I actually enjoyed the color scheme of the kicker, it matches your channels colors.
The original plan was to have a golden yellow colour to match the channel brand but I thought the orange would look better .Glad you like it. It's starting to grow on me now.
That kicker is crazy! I can’t wait to try to make one😅😅
Have fun with it!
How do you only have 40,000 subs you should have 200,000 subs and you try so hard and I love your channel
This video was awesome! Makes me want to try to make one. I've never built a jump period, so I may do it out of better wood, but this doesn't even look too difficult. Thanks for the inspiration!
Yeah better wood is a good choice. You can build a better shape kicker then and not be constrained by the size of the pallet wood. But this was a fun challenge.
Nice work! Really good design looks strong. Cheers from chile!!
Thanks mate. Strong now, will see how well it lasts.
Awesome video man I’ve been wanting to build a kicker for a while and now I have no excuse great work thankyou 🤪
Thanks mate! Good luck with the build.
I built a very similar kicker on my channel a couple years ago. It cost around $140 in timber & screws from Bunnings (pre covid), so that's a pretty good saving. I used 10mm decking for surface which I think was a mistake, in particular for the lander which I've broken already. I got super nerdy and made a spreadsheet to create the perfect radius too if you were ever interested. Great video as always, it's slightly better than my effort.
Oh nice I will have to check it out. Ive been doing a bit of work with finding the best radius for my next build. I want somethgn a bit more serious.
Hey man really creative video, we have been enjoying them for a while. Keep the sick videos coming. P.S I would love a T-shirt
Thanks mate! Good luck with the next shirt contest.
Epic work mate!
What is even more epic is the background in the last few frames of this edit 👌👌
Not a bad spot to set up a kicker hey!
Bloody cool mate!!! Might have to throw something like this together as well, maybe some small wheels on one end so i can tow it down to the park for a play
Yeah for sure, I was thinking about adding wheels to this one, but ended not worrying becuase I dont need to move it much. But I think my next build is a much bigger kicker and that will be on wheels.
So sick 🤘🤘🤘🤟🤟🤟🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙 school was boring today but you made it way better. Live is better when cutlaps makes a video. They are rare but as good as gold
Hahah stoked I could make your day better! It's almost the weekend so you can get out and ride!
There are wayyy too many things I love about this video! Firstly, the sweet, smooth blues backtrack. Had to pause and put on my best Ron Swanson look to get real comfy. Secondly, the home improvement-esque feel to this whole thing. Surely some Wilson Wilson Jnr x Cutlaps merch on the way! Thirdly, the terrible choice in paint colour. Sick vid mate! I think you should send it over some weird stuff just for a giggle edit. For example, a couch with someone snoozing on it. Happy for peeps to jump on board and reply to this for further suggestions.
Ahahaha thanks mr Swanson. You can be the person snoozing on the couch, but I think I will need a bigger kicker.
Great video, I yet to have a kicker at home and plan to build this one this summer. Thanks for the video, I’ll see how it goes… 🔥
No worries. I also have a new kicker that is a similar size but has a nicer curve because it's built out of store bought wood. It's a better kicker but it will cost more.
@@cutlaps thanks, I’ll check it out
I still need to edit the video so could be a few weeks before the video is out
yo cutlaps i watch you not for a long time and you'r enjoying me with your video's so keep going on with your hobby and YT
Thanks mate! Glad you have been enjoying the videos.
I would love to ride your trail all day long and I love all your videos
Thanks mate!
Just found this channel, I'm really inspired by the craftsmanship, gonna try build this at home
Awesome thanks mate! Good luck with your build.
YES! I’ve been wanting to make one of these! We have tons of pallets on our ranch and I re-use them all time and I learned a lot, thanks for boiling all your learnings into a condensed how to Luke! I just bought a pallet buster from your link 😎
Nice, I learnt a lot more in my pallet research but couldn't include it all for fears of boring people haha. The pallet buster is handy. The handle seems a bit flimsy but it worked. Easy to replace the handle if needed. Send pics of what you build.
@@cutlaps will do. My pallet buster arrived I see what you mean by flimsy, maybe I’ll replace the quick release, but it’s not too bad, a little short for us tall guys. I’m slowly building a shed for the time being.
great video I'm going to show it to my dad and I hope we will make it. I am so happy because I will finally have backyard jump and can't wait for next video I hope you will build something new
Awesome, hope your dad liked the video and helped you build a kicker.
Thank you for this video, I think I will build one at home and put it in my backyard. I am really excited for the next episode.
Perfect addition to any backyard!
Yes Luke. What a sick little idea mate, and even better it’s Ebike suited. Your a wiz on the design gear! Well done mate 👊🏼
Thanks dude. Yeah it ended up pretty strong. I will have to keep checking it over time to make sure the wood is holding up. Pallets can be a it dodgy.
Loved the video! I'm for sure going to give this a shot soon!
Awesome let me know how it goes.
You have inspired me to build these stuff thanks and love the vids
No worries. Maybe check out my latest build. I have a similar size jump but its heaps easier to build. It's not with free pallet wood though
I am super excited to make my first wood jump with your design!!
Awesome mate! Hope you have fun.
Congrats on 40k!
Thanks mate! Pretty huge.
That's so cool! I've been planning on building a kicker to ride with my kids and this was super helpful for that, Thanks!
Awesome, I hope you and your kids have fun hitting it!
Thank you so much for the plans. I followed the measurements, and it came out awesome 👌 🚲
That's epic!! Share some pics with me on Instagram. I would love to see your build.
sick vid man! the first kicker I ever built was made out of an old bed frame and I still use it and love it today🤣
That sounds pretty awesome! Maybe I should go to the rubbish tip and see what random things I can find to build jumps with.
Haha! That'd make some pretty entertaining content😂
Dude this was awesome! I'm definitely building this with some old pallets. Nice job man!
Thanks legend. Make sure the pallet wood is up to scratch. Some of it's not safe to use.
i think it looks awesome and honestly might have to try this for myself and i will definitely keep watching and recommend your videos!
Awesome thank you!
Sup mate. love you videos, so insane and motivational. you have inspierd me to make my own backyard bike trail and building this feature now. keep up the great work
Awesome to hear! Having a trail you can ride at home is the best! Hope you have some fun.

This video was amazing building it on the weekend
Very cool. Hope you had fun building it
Really want to see more work on the backyard trail but this was a good vid to fill the gap whilst we wait patiently
Yup I need to get back out to it. Its been a bit unloved lately.
Don’t know if the catch phrase will catch on “Puzzle Time 🤙🏼” in MTB circles, but for puzzle night it a winner. Top vid again Luke.
Hahah Puzzle Time was from a New Zealand drink driving commercial that was pretty funny back in the day.
Awsome mate. Your channel and u have grown so much since the beginning, and I see u becoming a big mtb channel. Great video.
Cheers mate! Ive been a bit slow with the videos this year which bums me out. But pleased with the result of them. Thanks for watching and joining me on this journey.
yooo, that turned out sick! I have a pallet kicker myself, just a little taller. Keep it up!

THanks legend!
That is really nice!🔥 I’m going to build one myself.🤘🏼
Sickkkk! Have fun mate!
What a little ripper! Also the colours are dope
Seems like some people love the colours and others hate them. They have grown on me a little but I think I would prefer something instead of the orange.
this is sick. thanks for adding the plans. gonna go build one for myself
Awesome good luck mate
Best way to get the wood off is sawzall the nails off. Just pry a little bit so you can get a blade through.
I had thought about doing that but i tleaves the nails in the wood I wanted to use which can then damage the circular saw. So for this build I needed to pry them out. But if I was just using the decking then your method would be perfect.
i love your vids they inspire me to build my own ramps and stuff thanks for inspiring me, its so much fun!
Yes that is epic!!! If you have Instagram you should share some photos with me.
