How to use peg locks on peg board - install and remove locking plastic pieces

We’re organizing the soap workshop and purchased some pegboard and metal pegs / hooks for hanging tools. The package came with black plastic peg locks that immobilize the pegs. I’d never seen them before, but here’s how to install and remove them when you get pegboard to organize your garage!

Had no idea what these were for. Like what another guy commented as, maybe clips for a hanging wire by your workbench, at least what I was thinking also. Originally I was looking on RUclips for what each hook is technically for. Since I bought a multi pack to organize my shop bench. Thanks for showing us what these do.

Just saw a guy's video where he used bent paperclips. Not as clean looking, but easier to put in and out and only blocks the hole underneath for the simpler pegboard hooks.

My experience with these peg locks is that out of the package, they didn’t have enough of an inward angle for the barb to catch on the back of the peg board and kept popping back out so what I did is take a butane lighter and put a little heat by the corner and with my pointer finger put an inward pressure to bend the barb ends in and they work like a charm. Just be careful not to burn your pointer finger in the process.

Works well for the single hooks but what do you do about the double one like you have in the video? Its on the bottom there to the left of the buckets and right of the examples you used?

I think the doubles are more stable because they are double.

I use a staple gun to hold pegs in place.
Simple and cheap.
Want to move the peg? Just pull out the staple.
