- I show you one day in Beijing, doing all the things we would need as a foreigner visiting China.
In this video I answer the questions:
- how is it to go to the restaurant in China and not understanding what's written. (I eat delicious noodles)
- how does transportation work in China (I explain everything with Alipay and WeChat that are unavoidable in China to take a bus, subway, order at the restaurant with the QR code...)
- how can you rent a public bike and ride in Beijing (it also works with Alipay WeChat, Meituan... don't worry it's super convenient)
- what do the streets in Beijing look like. Beijing is very developed with a lot of modern cars and buildings, but it also has its traditional neighborhoods called hutongs.
- I even do a nap in the middle of the street, without caring of my belongings or bike. Because yes, China is extremely safe.
All in all, how is life in Beijing?
(I even go to the dentist at Beijing University to take an appointment...)

I had planned to tour China when I retired 13 years ago and had went on three nine-weeks backpacking trips. Unfortunately my plan was interrupted as I had to deal and fight with serious health problems starting eight years ago. You can lock the bike then take a rest or a food, to save some renting money. Usually the bike would still be there, if anyone rent it away, you can easily find a new one nearby.
Also remember to put on the helmet which usually in the basket of the bike. It is unsafe and also illegal. I paid 20 CNY for the citation 😂

Very brave of you to cycle in Beijing. I was around the Guomao area last week and it was scary during the rush hours. Bicycles and mopeds and motorcycles weaving left and right... and speeding, on pedestrian pavements and overhead bridges. One has to have eyes at the front, back, left and right of one's head. I wonder how the elderly manages in such environment???
