I don't see him winning MVP anymore, but still very elite. Though, given his recent injury if they are smart and play him at DH 1-2 a week, that would help.
@ondeckcrushed Uh, less than a zero chance of Trout winning MVP and I am a LONG-TIME Angels fan and Trout fan. The intersection between his swing mechanics (poor) and loss of reflexes (Father Time) and the fact that pitchers are throwing harder on average means a pedestrian year at best for Trout. His strikeout rate this Spring is around 37%. Trouts enormous back elbow drop/collapse and wrist angle result in an extreme low-to-high barrel path. That means, even if his timing is perfect - which it hardly is anymore - his barrel is on plane with the ball only at contact. That’s why he rarely hits anything above his shins. 93 at his thighs and he’s late. Mid to upper 90’s at the belt and he has no chance of not only getting the barrel up to pitch height but of squaring the barrel. Notice how many times he fouls pitches into the first base stands - even mistakes that are pretty much middle-middle at routine velo. That’s because his barrel path is so vertical and late. He is the only player I’ve ever seen consistently foul off low inside heaters - even off the plate inside - into the first base stands. And when he drags his back foot (often) he really struggles to get the bat out in front as his swing chases his body, exacerbating the problem. If Tout had ever decided/decided to keep his barrel higher towards contact, with his otherworldly skills and strength, allowing him to actually hit in the upper third of the zone, I truly believe he would have hit .350 for his career with 600-700 dingers and he would be far more effective in his battle against Father Time. I’ll be shocked if he hits .260 this year. I truly hope I am wrong but that appears where we are headed, not to mention that baseball players with football player builds like Trout become far more susceptible to muscle injuries as they age.
@devonjones8980 P.S. And if Trout slashes something in the neighborhood of .280/.400/.950 this year feel free to come on here and tell me I’m full of it. I would love that because it would mean Trout’s has had another very good year for the Halos.
He's definitely declining, as would be expected from someone entering his mid-thirties; the injuries are an expected part of the process. He's merely playing at the level of an ordinary HoF outfielder, rather than someone on the short-list of all-time greats.
You just said it. He barely had a better season than Ozzie albies. Albies is good but come on not an MVP hype guy. Worse than Austin Riley who’s hasn’t even hit his prime? I hope he does well. I like trout but your one point about his 2023 season is null
In a *down* year Trout had similar seasons to the guys in the 10th-16th spots in terms of highest OPS. In about half a season he was able to put up numbers similar to Albies and Riley where in a full season he would more likely have an ops around .900 and above still in what would be the worst season of his career. Saying Trout is bad or washed is crazy for how good he still is
If he is never again healthy enough to play a full season what does that make him? Not washed, but not dependable right. I loved the fantasy dominance that trout has produced, but even in this healthy seasons he has played less in September. Most likely because the team was out of it and had nothing to play for, but that sucks for all but roto leagues. I think he could have a great season if he's all in mentally and physically, but the first injury and even the most positive person would have problems getting their mind right. One of the best of his Generation. I hope he can have a few more great seasons and yes I would happily draft him in the 4-5 round of any draft! :)
@@ondeckcrushedmy argument heading into last year was that based on health history and recent stats; I’d rather have Mookie Betts on my roster than Mike trout. Before last season, everyone and their brother wanted to argue with me. Now, heading into the season Mookie is ranked the second best player in the league, and Trout isn’t even top 10. The fact he can’t stay healthy is the reason he is extremely overrated!
@@ondeckcrushedit’s going to be another decade of no playoffs for the Angels 😂 that’s his fault, he knew what the angels are when he signed that contract

I don't think Mike trout is not washed top ten in baseball when healthy.
A simple 10 dollar bet on Mike to win MVP might not be a bad idea.
Catch me throwing $100 on Trout
As the saying goes your best ability is a availability
True but people are getting it wrong saying that he’s declining and that he’s not good anymore
Oh he is the best of the generation. But we need him healthy and he will still be at the top of the league.
Who is saying he’s washed tho
Probably conflating that with "injury-prone."
A ton of people. Just look on Twitter or comment sections on any Instagram post including Trout
Haters gonna hate, but Trout gonna carry those Angel's one day!!!

The internet loves to hate
Look what they doing to MJ right now it’s pathetic

I was saying this going into last year and everyone in comments would fight me. Now it’s common knowledge. Funny how dumb people are
I don’t understand the disrespect other than the fact he hasn’t been healthy but when he’s healthy he still performs
