This is one of the most comfortable basses I've ever owned, light weighted and sounds damn good. It is an amazing bass in mid price range. The one in the video is a Made in Korea I believe which is active. Made in Indonesia basses have active/passive switch on them.

I had the K5, the "Fieldy" - model of the SR 505. It was a great instrument, loved the neck, it played like butter and it was not heavy at all. I didn't like the tone control and couldn't find a tone I really liked. So I sold it - and went for a used MusicMan SR 5. And - who the f*ck could think of this - this StingRay is a keeper, it will never leave me.
I got two SDGRs. I wind the G the opposite way around. Keeps it straighter over the nut. Bit odd come tuning time but hey !! Fretless SR05 - ex Dave Pegg, Jethro Tull. EMG Js with humbucking coils underneath them. Fretted SR1305 PD - Got it from Germany
Tone Monster Preamp with active/passive switch woke mine up to everything I knew this bass had in it.$70s will literally make this bass everything you could ever want from the sound department. Even with the mk-1s in there. Sounds so good! New nut and tuners would make it epic
I have a 1996 SR505 and I absolutely love it. I believe that is the first year they came out but not sure. It's all original except the nut which I replaced with a brass one. What makes it unique is it is the only one I have seen with the input jack on the bottom in the normal position. They seem to have changed the position to the front of the bass soon after that year.

I have the James jamerson, string action going on...But also, Carol Kaye, she likes higher than normal string action, it gives me a whole different tone, and I like to have to work, and a little bit of a fight, it lets me dig in a little harder!!!!! 👍
I've got the exact same bass,same color and all but my God his looks like it's seen every war know to mankind lol I was kinda upset about the few chips and scratches on mine at one point but after seeing this I realize I have nothing to complain about 😂
