The hood ornament is from a 1971 Monte Carlo, 1970 was different.
The gentleman you have detailing your vehicle give him a raise nice job
Nice car. I have a 1970 Monte Carlo that I've owned for over 31 years. I love the first generation Monte Carlo's.
Dude, you're doing good things in the world, bringing old cars back to life and making people happy. Your videos are straightforward and to the point. Keep up the good work.
Facts
Absolutely beautiful car!
Good one. I myself have 4 - 1972 Monte Carlos, which on all I am 2nd owner of. First one of these I bought back in 1975, and drove it everyday for 26 yrs. Which has sat a lot, and am having to replace gas tank this weekend. I even own a Yellow Monte Carlo Custom w/402. Too much to elaborate on here. I have also purchased 2 first gen montes just for parts, so In my apartment I have extra Dash, doors, fenders, a few grilles, and quite a bit more.
Beautiful Car And Beautiful Detail Job! WoW !
I was a kid in the early 70s and some of my parents' friends and my teachers had Monte Carlos of that generation. I hate that it's so hard to find cars from that era that are not modded until their....um....tail pipes bleed. I love genuine spec restoration!
You guys did a really nice job on that man's car !
I've always wanted a 70 to 72 Monte Carlo.
Again GREAT JOB !!!
Thanks for sharing
I owned that exact same car over 25 years ago just out of high school! God I miss it! Didn't know they would be worth so much money back then
That’s the bright light switch.l, hit with left foot 👍🏼👊🏼✌🏼
Had a 73’ Monte Carlo. Loved that car. Had the swivel bucket seats.
This Monte Carlo looks great! Y’all did such a great job!
Truly a wonderful car, and a wonderful job you guys did bringing it back to its former glory. Good job to you guys, at Flying Wheels!
that's when cars were made of steel not tinfoil.....
THAT SWITCH WAS to change the front lights from low to high and back to low,
1st guess!! I wanted to hear peoples guesses
BELZAZAR SALAZAR, You might be right here, Headlight dimmer switch👍
People can still guess, 😬
On my 67 Chrysler that’s switched changed the radio stations
@@MrImperial67 No it didn't silly, LOL.
gorgeous car
Brother had a blue 70 monte, learned to drive with that car.
Girl looks fabulous
Looks Sweet.....After lots of love
Your welcome and you did a nice job, thanks for posting
One of my favs. Nice job!
What a freakin sweet Monte Carlo
High & low beam foot switch.
I drove one of those back in the days my uncle had one in white.
This is the Only Monte Design I haven't owned...one day I hope lol.. Thanks for Sharing!
I had one of those. My grandparents bought it new, then my Mom got it then I got it. Yes, it did look great but I like small cars with stick shifts and didn't enjoy driving it much so sold it to some younger guy who had to have it after seeing one on a 'Fast and Furious' movie . If I had a huge warehouse to store stuff I'd have kept it plus many other cars and motorcycles I've had through the years
Oh yeah, my Grandfather could have paid $400 more and gotten the SS package with a 454 and handling modifications and a few other features . I have read you could order it with a stick shift if the dealer intervened on your behalf. That $400 extra would mean a car worth 5x as much as the base 250hp model. I can see my grandmother telling him don't even think about it, $400 was a lot more money back then. You could buy 2 door 1957 Chevrolet Belairs for $1000 back then.
glad you didn't paint the wheels black.....
My great uncle drove a new ‘71 Monte Carlo in high school. He said that car got him half the girls and every STD. Beautiful cars
Great job looks great.
You don't paint rally wheels black. I'm glad you stayed original.
bigmars cook channel They should of used the correct Rally Wheel Silver Paint to be correct but they didn’t from what I can see.
@@ffas23 yeah, I think it devalues the car a little
This first generation Monte Carlo looks very customizes with the open roof
Hi beam light switch usually on GM 70s CARS.Nice old classic those pop sunroofs do suck. Great video Man 👍
Damn that sunroof
Nice project baby
I had one of those, maybe a couple of years later, but it had the same body. Same 350 engine. That was a sweet car. I drove it on I-70 west of Denver, over the Continental divide, except instead of going through the Eisenhower tunnel, we drove around it and over the highest peaks. I remember passing a sign that said 13,000 feet elevation and we went up some more before starting back down. That car had plenty of power even up there. The only thing I noticed was it took a little longer to start, no doubt due to the rich mixture. But an all around great car. Most of the cars of the day were of similar size, so that didn't seem different.
add this one to the personal collection
A center console with air conditioner is rare nice car I had one in the 80s👍
hell of a job
nice work on the Monte Carlo, looks rad
Nice driver
Got ‘70 just like it ground up restored during the late 80’s early 90’s in almost perfect shape with Black Vinyl Top. I put less then a 1000 miles on it since it was restored. Mostly just sits with my other Collector Cars. Got 30k invested in it. Looking to possibly sell it. Looking to make some room in my very large Pole Barn in NJ where I store it with my other cars.
My favorite vintage car. It has a 1971 hood ornament, and back then was a "mid sized car". My dad had a '70 with no A/C. But vinyl top.
It also has 8” Corvette Rally Wheels from a C3 Corvette on it. The factory Monte Carlo Rally Wheels were 7” from the factory.
those rims are what they were supposed to be and with the exception of the roof that car was what I first drove
He'll have to find an old school glass guy to do the windshield. That trim pops off with a trim removal tool. Seen it done many times. They'll slice through the old seal with a knife, then they insert a piece of piano wire with T handles on the ends, slide it around, pull the glass, remove the old seal and reinstall everything. He can keep the original windshield if it isn't cracked.
That pop up sunroof: I bet it will have foam blocks between the trim ring and the roof. I did one of those in my van and that's how it was installed. Pop out the sunroof, recaulk, reinstall, done.
Very strange it has a big block core support , 4 bolts . The door cards are from a 71 . Very nice .
The 350 cars with AC also have the 4 bolt radiator hold down. The seats and visors are also from a '71 or '72. This car was originally column shifted and a bench seat car.
I miss my 70 Monte Carlo listen to this one came from the factory probably specially ordered it had a three on the tree with 350 cubic inch and no power steering oh my God that thing was so hard to steer and I never seen another one like it with a stick shift on the column I've seen them with 4 speeds from the factory but never on the column I should have kept that thing I had the broadcast sheet to
There were 545 made for 1970 with 3 on the tree. That was the base transmission. All others were ordered with an optional transmission.
@Flyingwheels the "thing" is the headlight dimmer switch in its proper place.
never high pressure under the hood! always work inside to out.buffing polish wax windows last steps...that's my choice anyways
I had one ,it came with a 350 ,300 horse .It was fast .
DRIVEING a legend..I had A 1975 white inside gold paint half white VYNLE ..the 70 SS 454 IS A LEGEND AS WELL..NOT TO SEE THE CAR ISNT A BEAUTY.. IT CAME WITH SS BUCKETS AND COUNSIL..SPECIAL CAR
Hi beam
The Monte was originally designed to be a front wheel drive car. That's why it has so much room under the hood & has such a long fan shroud.
What is your source?
@@danjanes8689 GM
@@jonirwin7316Post a GM link stating that. I've never found one.
That was for the high beam low beam... That's the switch on the floor you push it
Yesssssssssssssssss
IN 1977 I bought a 1970 with about 50,000 some odd miles one owner,I bought it at the Chevy dealer when the dude traded in ON something it was triple black paint, vynal top and black paint!!!!
I don't know for sure what engine was in it,other than it was a small block, and why I say that is because I used it to outrun the law all the time!!!!!!it was one fast factory small block,I promise you that!!!!!!!!wish I still had it!!!!!!!
The '70 350 with a Quadrajet was advertised as 300 hp.
Nice job,, You should always try to tell your viewers and subscribers how much does it Cost to have a job like that done,,, I really think that would be very very helpful and great 👍 👌 for your future business.. And PSI actually like the old sun Roofs... And I also know that that switch on the floor was for high beam Is low beam..
That’s easy just like in My 1973 Plymouth Cuda that is to go from low to high beams and back
Hey, when u get a chance can u do a vid explaining, When at the Auction Cars that go green light, yellow light, Red light.
Green light with very high miles, also paying an Inspection after buying a car with green light. Thanks
Put brights on head
Iights. Rich from fl.
Headlight dimmer switch
“Paint over the rust” lmao give the problem to someone eles down the line this is why small car dealers are alway sketchy
The switch is to spray windshield wash fluid.
Ps: Nice video!!
No, it's the dimmer switch. Washer button is on the wiper switch.
@@danjanes8689 you are probably right, but you also made me realize that I made that comment 5 years ago… didn’t even remember I made that comment. The power of the Internet. Cheers!
It's this Chevrolet Monte Carlo (although I'd definitely prefer it without the sunroof!), and the 1970 Plymouth Superbird, that make me want to learn how to drive. Anything else, what's the point?
You left silver paint on the tires.
Last flat tire i had a changed where you were parked
that was your high beam switch on the floor.
Guy acts like he’s never seen a first gen Monte Carlo before......
WHY would someone stick a pop up sunroof in a classic car???
How much do you spend on 2004 Toyota Sienna,le, 115000 single owner clean title. Clean carfax? Both at auction and retail? I looked in kbb but just want your openion.
The foot switch is for high beam and low beep you driving at night you top the switch and it switches your headlights to high beam top of the can when oncoming traffic switches back to low beam was not on the steering wheel back then most 40s 50s 60s and 70 cars had that not to the 80s when they changed it to the steering wheel
70 didn't have hood ornament; just a spear.....wrong steering wheel; emblem should be in the middle of the shroud.....should not have passenger side mirror.....sun roof; nope.
In one of your auction videos you said you hated working on cars.
high beams
So you jus detailed it ?
High Beam Foot Switch.
You sure that’s a 1970? The interior and the hood are a 1971. Also, they aren’t that heavy. A new Challenger weighs about 400 pounds more than the Monte...
Says it's numbers matching
@@tomcat630Numbers matching just means it has the original motor.
@montestu5502 Forward of the firewall, everything is '70, except the hood spear. Fenders, core support, grille, headlight bezels and fender extensions, and bumper are all '70 exclusive. The hood is also '70. It's the only one that had the washer nozzles at the back edge of the hood. The washer hose routing through the firewall is also exclusive to 1970 models. The taillights and the lack of a trunk lock bezel are 1970 only. It looks like someone changed almost everything in the interior to the '71/'72 interior, including the steering wheel and the visors. The dome light is '70 exclusive. The dash cluster has the gear indicator , indicating the car was originally column shifted. The console is from a Chevelle or El Camino. This car was originally a bench seat car.
@@danjanes8689 - I say that it’s a 1971 hood unless they drilled a hole in it to accommodate the hood ornament that has a spring attached to the Monte Carlo emblem versus the 1970 that does not. I doubt anyone would do that. I also have a 1970 Monte with a 1971 hood, presumably from an accident before I purchased it.
High beam switch
It will sell fast
5:07. LOL, typical millennial. That's the high beam switch.
What you use on tha chrome?
Needs a roof skin
I thumbs downed the video when he said he'd paint the wheels black. I thumbs upped the video when they were painted silver instead.
Was it to release the emergency brake
No. Dimmer switch.
Or to be more correct high beams 2 low beams
Is it for sale??
Juan Molina how much would you pay for one? There one for sale with a 6.0 in Texas
@@jovanygarcia7584 all depends
High beam , low beam
hi and low beam, are the bucket seats swivel?
Swivel bucket seats didn't debut until the '73 model.
this thing is a BOAT
The Montes and Chevelles are both A-body mid-size models. The Caprice and Impala were the full size cars.
20 years isnt really that long.
did that button down near the pedals make the license plate at the back go down ?
No seat belts? why
It was originally column shifted and it has a Chevelle/El Camino console. It's been converted to bucket seats.
High beam
Hi Lo beam foot switch
Lol 👀 🖤
dimmer switch
Corvette rallys
Cool but its a 71 with a 70 bumper
Car has 1970 grille and headlight bezels. It's a '70 with '71 hood ornament. Says it's "numbers matching". Easy to change hood ornament and add sunroof back then.
I would give a hundred dollars for it and I'm serious!
Need to put a new roof on it get rid of that ugly a sunroof that was a stupid thing to do I don't paint the rims Black paint them Cortez silver
All I see is profit on this one
paint the wheels black?? dude ur the absolute wrong guy to hold classic cars....srry
