  • The Chevrolet Monte Carlo first came out in 1970 as a two door luxury car. What also came out in 1970 was the 454 big block V8 which made 350 HP.

A very nice car. I hope you all keep it in your family. The Fisher Body company was a subsidiary of GM for decades. By the 1960s, I can't say I'd seen any GM vehicles without that logo on them. Maybe the pickup trucks escaped them, but I don't know. Part of the difference between the size of the bumpers on your Monte Carlo and your Ford can be accounted for by the 5MPH bumper standards. These mandated that passenger cars to be built starting in 1972 for the 1973 model year had to have these big bumpers. In the 1973 model year, only the front bumpers had to withstand a 5 MPH impact. For the 1974 model year, both the front and rear bumpers had to pass these new impact standards. In the 1960s, car owners complained to the government about how much repairs for minor impacts were costing them. That, along with the insurance companies which didn't want to pay out for expensive repair claims lobbied for change. That change was enacted with these new impact standards. Take care.

Great car and nice job on the video. The trunk lock delete was not an option. It's a custom touch by a
previous owner. Also, the switch that you pointed out in the glove compartment is for the glove compartment light, not the trunk release.

YA I thought that no keyhole must have been a custom job.

That is a 360hp LS5 . The trunk release is the yellow button left of the black light switch you pressed.

He knows a little bit about the Body by Fisher info (Most GM vehicles had body by Fisher Body for years) (He thought the Glove Box Light switch was the Trunk Release Button) another Gen X, Y or Z kid thinks he knows cars?
