I have mixed feelings about this movie, the little kid inside loves it but the adult finds it lacking. The animated show with Keith Davids as Spawn was awesome on the other hand and something I would recommend for it's own episode.
Very sad, that they stop the hbo animation when the story starts to get interesting. But still amazing voice acting, give me chills just to think about it
The scene where he descended from the roof and his cape unfolds and envelopes the whole ceiling as if seemingly endless put me in such an awe as a kid. The scene didn't age really well but the idea of it was just so badass
John Leguizamo kept me coming back to see this movie. He entertained and disgusted me more than any other ‘villain’ but I couldn’t stop minorly cheering for him too! Though the visuals don’t hold up nowadays.. it’s still a film that keeps me wanting to just shout ‘THE VIOLATOR’!
It's a damn Greek tragedy that Spawn wasn't expanded more. I liked to read comics but Spawn was the only series I collected. I've heard rumors they're doing a reboot with the same actors. Here's hoping.
Lol fr. Of course who would play Spawn in a remake is important, but I'm far more concerned with who would reprise John Leguizamo's role! He brought so much to the character
I love this movie. It's soo 90"s. and still entertaining. i can't ask for more. Its fun and I'll rewatch it every so often. I would NOT want a remake. Not in this Hollywood
I personally have loved this movie ever since I was a kid, although I will admit the CGI is hard to look at these days. but overall I think it’s a fantastic popcorn film. and if you pay attention during the big party scene just before spawn shows up y’all might see a character who probably would’ve shown up in sequels if they had made them.
I really enjoyed Spawn when it came out. Was dark and gritty. Something that later comic book movies would do. Being one of the first it does often get overlooked.
Spawn is a very inspirational character. We can all relate to his origin story. We all have made terrible bargains to find a quick way out of hell only to realize it wasn't the right choice. Spawns a rebel against the devil and i love that about him. I loved how the movie introduce him to me wen i was 8 years old. Movie always holds a special place with me.
I loved Spawn, when I was around 7-9, everytime I visited my cousin in a different town, we would watch the movie together with popcorn and soda, but we always stopped eating whenever the scene with maggot pizza and the tire scratch underwear appeares, even tho it was campy af, we loved it for what it was.
I loved this movie as a kid. I begged my dad to let me see this and he finally took me. And it was great. Spawn became my favorite super hero for awhile there.
I love the spawn movie, I remember going to see it when I was younger at the movies. I don’t get the hate. It’s still an enjoyable watch today and I hope they make another one. Would even hope they get Micheal Jai white to return. He is a badass.
Anti heros where always my favorite growing up. The punisher and spawn where my favorite lores. They seemed more believable to me and I hated the goodie goodie heros. I always loved the characters that could be looked at as bad but if you knew their back round and story you would understand them. Spawn had the coolest action figures in the late 90s by far. So cool and I still have them. That's probably why the hound in GOAT is my favorite character. Spawn needs a reboot. It would be epic af. Probably on par with Deadpool.
Yeeees the action figures!! How could I forget! I had one as a kid & it was a favorite. Thanks for bringing back that memory! That's awesome that you still have yours 😊
FINALLY!!! Someone remembers PITT I had the very 1st issue of that comic as a kid and it was awesome! IMAGE was definitely a top dog company in the 90s
I took my then young nephew to se Spawn in the theater, he was like 15, maybe his first rated R film... He's in his really late 30s now, I'm still the coolest uncle
Spawn was a staple in my comic collection and I loved it. I was disappointed with he film due to them messing with the story so much. What made spawn great was....yes he's a demon spawn but he is also human. He doesn't come to terms with his wife being with his friend it is always a point of depression for him. One comic stands out when he is basically peeping on them hiding in the bushes crying. Knowing that could have been his life. He has ups and downs, good times and bad. It's a comic about life really, coming to terms with what you can't change and moving on. It doesn't happen overnight but eventually you will find your centre again. Life is hard, it will test you many times. This is the lesson I learn from the spawn comics. It had emotion, life lessons and heart. It was also gory as all hell, my mum never knew I was reading them at like 10. The local comic store didn't give a shit bout age restrictions so I got all the good stuff 🤣🤣🤣. I say comic store but it really was a news agent who was into comics. Pretty much the only way I could get them here in Australia back then. Comics were not a huge industry here like in the states. We are talking early 90s. Spawn was always a regular in my basket. The store clerk was rad too knew shitloads about comics and the lore I could chat to him for hours. He was about 60 but a huge comic nerd.
This is one of the movies I 1st grew up on when I was a kid. While the CGI efffects didn't exactly age well, I still love this movie to this very day to this very day I feel there was a brilliant cast that they could have worked with and I feel because there was so much editing a sort of ruin to the movie as what was already stated. I hope they do a new reboot however I hope they use all the original cast members because I believe that they were brilliant Michael J white is a Gray outfit's like it's as Al Simmons and who doesn't love John legizmo as the clown. All around I still love this movie.
Love the movie now matter what people say! Roger Ebert gave the movie a positive review, saying, "As a visual experience, Spawn is unforgettable." There are even talks of a Sequel and reboot, which are both in turnaround and Todd McFarlane wanted to turn Spawn into a bed! Lol! At one point it was going to be a cross between Jaws Meets The Exorcist, with Jeremy Renner in the role of Detective Twitch Williams , as well qs having a paranormal investigator teaming up with a Catholic priest to fight off Spawn.
When I plan to watch a movie, I go in with little expectations. That way I come out having enjoyed it. I've always loved the Spawn movie and still do. Some of the effects do make me wince though.
I loved this movie as a kid, & I mean I absolutely adored it. I don’t know how the hell I was able to watch this as a child, but bless my parents for allowing it. Been a fan of Spawn and Micheal Jai White ever since.
Spawn is a total blast. I admit most of my memories are of the animated HBO series but the movie is still good too. I think the suit still looks pretty cool and I don't like a lot of new CGI... the hell scenes are pretty terrible though hahahaha!
i rented this movie at a blockbuster when i was a kid, good times. I loved it then and i tolerate it now, its still awesome at some parts for me so it till holds up.
So glad I own the animated series. I still love the cape from the irl movie tho. Still so beautiful. Spawn has been a favorite since I was a little girl
Been patiently waiting for this one. Love Spawn, really want to see them do a series/remake. Even though i was a kid i knew nothing when seeing and reading it but god damn he was amazing.
I really want them to remake this. I feel like it had so much potential and as a little black girl, seeing a black comic book character on screen was refreshing. Which is why I’m such a huge fan of Blade and pray they do it justice.
If spawn got a newer reboot I think alot more people would appreciate him more
Todd McFarland has been trying that for several years, even got Jamie Fox on board as Al. Still hoping that gains movement
woah woah woah, I understand where you're coming from, but let's be careful about this haha
Ur grammar has me like 😵💫
It's been in production hell as far as I know
Would have to be a hard R rating
This movie blew my mind as a kid 🤯 I knew nothing of Spawn before this film and became a fan for life.
Same! 🙌🏽
This is a movie that deserves a reboot. After seeing both Venom films, the special effects would do Spawn justice.
Interestingly he also created the art design for venom. Which explains the resemblance in their face and white marks
I have mixed feelings about this movie, the little kid inside loves it but the adult finds it lacking.
The animated show with Keith Davids as Spawn was awesome on the other hand and something I would recommend for it's own episode.
Very true...
Spawn: I snuffed out every devil in hell, the netherrealm showed up to piss me off.🤬
MK11 reference.😋
@Grouch On The Couch The particle effects around his eyes still holds up, so that's something.
Very sad, that they stop the hbo animation when the story starts to get interesting. But still amazing voice acting, give me chills just to think about it

The maggot pizza still haunts vividly as a now 32yo😆 Great actor and hilarious comedian all around
@@rb9882 This scene ALL THE WAY!
I stumbled through many days at work uttering the word VIOLATED.....think it was after watching this flick. 😁
"You've been VIOLATED girly man!"
Imagine if we get a Spawn and Venom crossover. I would love to see two of Todd’s creations interacting
Knowing Todd McFarlane and how he saw Marvel lose their IP to Sony and Fox Entertainment, I think he would be relunctant to sell his IP.
It's a damn Greek tragedy that Spawn wasn't expanded more. I liked to read comics but Spawn was the only series I collected. I've heard rumors they're doing a reboot with the same actors. Here's hoping.
Now here's a movie that could use a remake. It could be an incredible visual experience given today's tech.
They need to cast MJW *NOT JAIMIE FOXX*

The artwork is amazing!
I just love how John Leguizamo is having a blast in this film.
His best role for sure. The prostethics took all day to apply so he's making the most of every scene haha

John Leguizamo was awesome and hilarious as The Violator on the movie 😂
YES!!! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOREVER FOR A SPAWN VIDEO!!!
John Leguizamo was the best part of the movie. Always cracked up at his lines and antics
I am a huge fan of this character. Love everything Spawn. Thank you for this.
You have one of the best youtube channels I've come across in the past 10 years. Easily top 10.
Thanks Sean!
I remember saving my birthday money and my dad taking me to Walmart to buy this game on Xbox when I was around ten years old. Gooooood times
That emotional damage include was perfect!
You got me with that Uncle Rodger drop. LOVED IT!
Right on!
John Leguizamo screaming "see ya at Wanda's " as he flies through the air from a rig exploding was always fucking hilarious!
Love the spawn film! I actually met Marten Sheen on a elevator. Great down to earth man!

The Spawn comic was some of the first comics I read outside of Marvel and DC.
One thing the Spawn movie absolutely nailed was the costume. It looks incredible.
I was not expecting that EMOTIONAL DAMAGE
The surprise adds to the EMOTIONAL DAMAGE!
I remember seeing this in theaters and being BLOWN AWAYYY!!!
Lookin forward to every drop
I really enjoyed Spawn when it came out. Was dark and gritty. Something that later comic book movies would do. Being one of the first it does often get overlooked.
I adored this movie. Spawn has one of the coolest, most interesting power sets I've ever seen.
Man I had a great time in the theaters watching this of my second year of high school it was great
Thought I was the only person still interested in this series. Glad it’s staying alive! We do need a reboot!
When I was a kid this was one of my favorite movies !!! Was super dope to see spawn make an appearance in MK 11...
This movie and Micheal Jai's performance in Universal Soldier made me a huge fan of him.
Despite its flaws, spawn is a guilty pleasure of mine.
Restricted by the technology of the day.
Would be cool if they remade it.
The movie’s real villain was the 90s cgi.
The Violator gives Joker a run for his money!
idc how bad the movie was... I grew up watching it and love it still till this day lol.
Oh my God this brings me back. Thanks for covering this sir!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This movie MUST have a reboot! It has so much potential!
And Spawn will forever be in development hell
