Honestly that's not that impressive. Making a character is rather easy. We've all done it, and they could be great, yours and mine.
Now the storytelling is the difficult part. If he did all that at 16, then I got lots of respect.

What I like about Spawn is that he's like an amalgamation of multiple different characters. Nice vid.

I think Todd admitted to modeling his design after Batman, Spiderman and Ghost Rider. Seems he took a grab bag of there greatest powers with him too.

People "dodging light" almost never actually means they move at the speed of light. The writers aren't actually thinking to themselves "he moves faster than light to dodge the light" they just think "he's dodging an attack".
Very true. A lot of people extrapolate feats a bit too far to make things work.
My favorite example is when people try to ascribe lightsaber forms to the movies.

It's not in that concept. Light in space moves faster in space then it does on any planet. Though it is slower in space...it will still be super fast it is still the fastest thing on planet.
Being able to Dodge light beams is still super fast.
I haven't read any of the comics so I only have the info in this video... Does he actually dodge the beams of light, or does he dodge the attack as/before it's shot? In other words, he sees the person raising their arm to shoot light beams and he dodges so that those light beams won't hit him, or do the light beams start to travel and then he gets out of the way?
@@kedolan4992 that does not matter. Light no matter would hit him if he was slow. This is an attack from a warrior with centuries of experience. That hard for them to ever be off mark on shots.
@@dreman999 I mean, it kind of does matter a lot: in one case he needs to be FASTER THAN LIGHT, while in the other he only needs to move fast enough to get out of the way of a pointing hand/arm/etc before they fire a blast off. Think of it this way, which is faster: dodging a bullet, or simply not being in the bullets line of fire because you dodged the gunners aim?
Spawn is bad ass. Also his rogue's gallery of villains is equally incredible too, many iconic characters. Also his powers, the suit adjusts itself to his battle conditions, so does his magic and his will to fight. That's probably why he turns into a overpowered character depending no battle conditions.
I am glad I finally see someone scale the monster that is called spawn. Keep it up.

but he couldnt save the world either. in the long run he became a being above god and still couldnt stop the apocalypse as long as god and satan lived so he had to make a new universe without them.

Its incredible how much the comic, and Spawn's power set, have progressed over the years. I remember reading some of the earliest issues back in '93-'94 as a tween shortly after reading all of Todd's run on Venom. It was a whole new, dark world of comic books for me, but I loved how Spawn often blurred the lines between Dr. Strange-esque mysticism and 'street hero' Spiderman-esque story beats. The power scales might have changed but Al Simmon's conflicts feel consistent with his character, and its refreshing that they chose to never walk back his powerset the way they have other comic book heroes.
Is there any particular runs worth reading this late into Spawn's run? Or any good jumping on points for someone who never stuck with them past the mid-90's?
This is the first well researched spawn video I've seen. People never scale him right in any of his iterations. If the rest of your videos are this detailed then you're getting another sub :)

But it was a crossover and you know they always push Batman whenever he's paired with a superpowered person. Thank you for making this. I always wondered how powerful Spawn was, I did a lot of research on him but many of the things he does were never stated clearly or shown that much on the websites I read, so seeing you make this video showing me how strong Spawn is was a blessing.

Anyways, with that being said: Spawn. Honestly ... a pretty freaking great comic-book character, and an excellent choice for your first non-Marvel or DC character analysis. This video even taught me some things even I didn't know about, like the 22-mathmatical dimensions statement. To think we were so close to Hyperverse-Level Spawn. LOL

We should all know he fought fake God and Satan. He never went up against The One Above All/The Presence and Lucifer. And those God and Satan are twins make it Non Canon to all the Canon universes. So funny thing is spawn had a "reasonable balance at the start" he had a limit to how much he used his power, but could do alot of things, that at the start. I started buying this comic when i was a kid, (teenager) and yeah spawn is an edgy teens dream come true. It doesn't age very well, their are some neat ideas, but you can also tell this a atheist trying to interpret heaven and hell (Todd mcfarlane). It's very obvious in damn near every issue.

A couple years ago I bought an issue of Spawn from a comic store and instantly fell in love with it. I wished I could know more about this character. Now that hunger has been satisfied... at least for a while.
I dunno. I was the kid who only read Donald Duck in his youth when everyone else read Spiderman comics. Now the comic stores are gone and regular stores have Minecraft, Fortnite and Princess magazines instead of Archie comics.
Oh well. I could probably find/order a couple issues online if I wanted to. Maybe I will.
