- In the first of a three part series on Lucifer Morningstar I go over in great length his greatest feats and accomplishments from across every Lucifer Morningstar appearance. In this video I cover the period from when Lucifer was first created through to Lucifer's life as an angel in heaven, his time ruling alone and with a triumvirate and Lucifer's endeavours on Earth up until he first opens a portal out into the Overvoid.

I'm sure because of how devisive this character (Lucifer Morningstar) is, people were going to be mad at me no matter what I said about him. Which is the main reason why I didn't cover him sooner. So I just want to say that the reason I made this video and all of my videos like this is out of a kind of love for DC comics and I only want to try and give them the most enlightening all encompassing view as possible to the best of my ability. I only hope that it doesn't make anyone too salty along the way.
Come on if it ain't for movies, you guys know DC is better in every way.

I love how the Lucifer TV show's premise is literally word for word what was setup in sandman, he goes to earth to watch the sunsets, opens a club, and learns to play the piano
i just wish they'd do a tiny bit more comic booky, "superpowers" rather than writing arond the mind control crutch every episode. Still, love the show.
Love the show, but oh man I hate how weak he's. He's Lucifer Morningstar, he's a multiversal reality warper, but can easily be defeated by a bullet???

@@riteousrighthand6144 The reason why he doesn't have all of his powers is down to his self-actualisation, he came to earth to be a normal guy and to live the life he wants, thus rejecting his angelic side, as shown by cutting off his wings, so he's left with the powers he can't really get rid of, which is his control over Desire, his strength is higher than most people down to him being an unnaturalised human, and his immortality and invulnerability.
It also makes sense why in the show he choose to go to an Earth that is completely untouched by magic, metahumans, aliens and whatnot, he just wanted to be away from everything that reminded him off his previous life. It would of been good if they'd gone deeper and showed off more of his powers, but obviously reality warping wouldn't be useful to the LAPD and crime solving, He's on earth to have a human experience, to learn about humanity, and himself, having all those powers would only further separate him still.
We see this with Amenadiel who could literally stop time itself outside of other Celestial beings such as God himself, Angels and Demons, but gave it up due to it keeping him away from humanity and unable to connect to anyone, so we have no idea how powerful Lucifer really was when he first came to Earth, but by the time the show starts he's been there for 5 years so i imagine he had already shed most of his powers, and as we saw in S5 he even lost his power to bring out people's desires.
@@MasterIceyy I mean, that was a lot of writing, to say that's not the story the showrunners wanted to tell.
Lucifer cut his wings off in the comics too.
Point of fact, is that there's no way they were gonna be able to show Lucifer in his full glory, on a FOX show.
Had the series moved to Netflix after season 1, maybe things would be different, but, after 3 seasons, the foundations were already set.
Now that he's God, we'll probably get a sniff of that fuller potential.

People will argue that seeming inconsistencies make it impossible for different things to be canon. However beings as strong as Lucifer are conceptual or beyond in nature. Their interactions with other things are expressions of an abstract reality and so don't need to neccesarily make physical sense imo. Take the Hell on Earth Belial being stronger vs Lucifer saying no demon has ever been his equal divide. That might seem like a contradiction but even outside WebCamParrot's (imo logical) interpretation, one could say that their relative powers represent their concepts interacting and that their so powerful things like their power or their intelligence are variable parts of the same thing. Been trying to understand DC's lore, and I think it helps to remember that seeming inconsistencies can be resolved by saying that these are limited perspectives of deep conceptual truths of the DC reality, and that their interactions may be like looking at a higher-dimensional object from our limited perspective; we see a part of the truth, but never the entirety at once.
Well then what about the inconsistencies in other characters that are not on that level
@@leto.o5759 What about them? Some characters are inconsistent. For beings that transcend concepts this inconsistency however can be explained.
@@leto.o5759 I mean most comic characters have multiple people writing stories for them, so individual interpretations play a huge role.
The best example I can find isn’t even from Comics. It’s from a sci fi series called Warhammer40k. Most nerds know abt it so I won’t explain too much but the most important and influential being in that setting, the emperor, has such inconsistent writings you can’t even definitively say he cared about his sons(the primarchs, Tube bred, Warp made, designed to be war machines.)
Some lore shows him being a caring if aloof father, and other lore has the emperor see the primarchs as nothing but tools who insist on calling him father.
If the keystone character of a major franchise can have such inconsistent writing then it’s 100% guaranteed that once a comic book character exists long enough you will find inconsistent and downright paradoxical moments in their stories. Happens in every fictional universe to some extent, and tbh it can’t really be helped too much
This guy understands, guys as powerful as trigon lucifer and other concepts, everytime we have seen them is just a facsimile of their true selves and a representation of what they can be depending on the writer

Yet, it's been said in the comics that when God's connection to humanity is severed, he dies. So I think it's a mix both

People vastly overlook the Lucifer 2018 series (written by Gaiman himself) which imho is far superior to the Mike Carey early 2000s interpretation of the character
Wrong. The 2018 series were by Dan watters and the series was so trash it got cancelled with 6 unreleased issues.

lucifer is a being of "Infinite Will"? if thats the case, how powerful would he be if he was bestowed a green lantern ring?
it may actually be an irrelevant tool to him or I should say that his powers work like that already. He imposes his will on the things around him and forges them to his purpose. The Spectre's powers were described as functioning in a very similar manner during Volume 4 and was directly compared to a Green Lantern ring saying they worked the same just that the Spectre force was a more efficient or powerful medium for this. Lucifer's power is likely similar if not more absolute.

My biggest question is, what abt the aliens? When we talk abt gods and the creation of life and the universe in DC we only speak of men but never about how the aliens were created from a divine perspective. It means that the first living beings in the universe besides all the divine beings were human? Maybe I'm wrong
Not just aliens but other cultures like the Norse people have their own ideas and beliefs surrounding how creation occurred. The Kryptonians and Martians and stuff basically have their own pantheons but the Human power of belief is noted to be particularly powerful which is why beings like The Presence grew to be so strong.
@@WebCamParrot is the presence really super strong? He is atleast creation level and that isn't impressive for many reasons. Darkseid, myx, lucifer, Michael and the Spectre with many others have the same exact position. The presence just have more characters below him who are also creation level, is that why you think he is super strong?

@tigerLuver Mordru's power level always increases. In every single appearance he's stronger than before. I'm talking about the mordru from the JL Dark 2018.
A simple fraction of his power made an entire team of Lords of chaos powerful enough to easily take down the Lords of oder. The same Lords of oder who were destroying the gods sphere. The Presence,Angles and the endless lives in gods sphere (says the official map of the DC multiverse) and combined power of Lord of oder was destroying it

Aside from just different art styles, most angels in DC are capable shapeshifters, and it’s not illogical that Lucifer would change his appearance as he pleased
