    I am fortunate to have non-ethanol fuel readily available in South Carolina. The Avgas 100 octane is a good option but its expensive.

    I live on Staten Island NYC. And have a 315 Everglades. I fish hard and as frequently as I can. 80-100 hrs is pretty much what a recreational fisherman will put on a boat in a season up here. Most marinas make you haul out after Thanksgiving. Our season up here starts mid April and ends in late November max.

      @@saaramrani9867 Thanks Max, many of my customers found some off the beaten path marinas along the Aurthur kill or kill van kul that let them stay in longer. This places are rough but typically much cheaper. They also allow me to work on boats there with just a million policy for accidental but the bigger marinas want like 20 mil. What motor is on your Everglades?

    All my boats and engines have been used. The cost of new is ridiculously high. Im a blue caller worker so don't want payments for life for a boat. Used glass boats are a dime a dozen if you get ones that need work and I do all my own work on boats and engines. I buy used 2 strokes, easy to work on and run like scolded dogs. I had a freind that thought 2 strokes were disposable engines. After a couple of years watching me and mine, he went to 2 strokes.

    I recently bought new 5hp as price difference between that an 10yr used one by time I serviced wasn't much different. Any used motor I would replace, impeller, plugs, gearbox oil, fuel filter and any corroded bolts etc. Add all that into cost and it is just about cost of new one, even dearer in case of 2.5hp.

      @OutboardDad 8 дней назад

      Agreed! Maintenance is key, do you do your own work or have a good mechanic?

    Very interesting to see the different demographics of boats up and down the coast. I live in northern new England and work on boats and I fish all year round even though I'm the only one out there for most of it. There are a lot of hardcore guys out there though. Winter in Florida would be nothing to me haha. As far as I've seen, 2 strokes are phased out more and more each year up here. You see them as well as inboards mostly in freshwater still except yamaha 2 strokes which people are still running everywhere.

    • @OutboardDad
      @OutboardDad 11 дней назад +1

      @maverickmisenko7234 Yes the yamaha 2 strokes keep on running if well maintained. Appreciate your comments, what would you want to hear us discuss in another podcast?
