Okay, i finally used this technique. Only difference was that on Emerald and Ruby Weapon i had put Protect Ring on Cloud because on first try against Ruby Weapon i got destroyed (thank god for world map save). And even tough Emerald Weapon one shot Barrier/MBarrier away, it still gave me enough time to put Summon-cycle running. And no matter what FF-lore says about Ruby and Emerald.....if those 2 were put against each other, Ruby would make Emerald his boy toy.
As long as you go into the battle with two dead men, Ruby’s claws retract and then he’s easy af. I beat Ruby Weapon before I beat the game. But Ruby’s prize is useless 😂 You get Knights of the Round which you have to have to beat Ruby and Emerald. But I never tried this technique on Emerald either. I just used KOR and Mime on my way to a nail biting victory.
This boss was my obsession, equally legendary and obtuse nerd fuel. To defeat it you need KotR indeed, and it was an unbelievable nightmare to get it. Miss those times.
I just pumped up stats and equipped him with 7 counter attack materia. He does enough damage that way for emerald weapon. Alternatively miming Barrett's multi hit limit break is very fast
This is how it gonna be for my next playtrough no KOTR or Mime or only summon them two times since I hate grinding: vincent back row quadra magic demi 3 Cloud 4X cut and Cid enemy skill Big Guard and Megalixer spam. Some source farming but not too much

I could never kill Emerald or Ruby. I even got the underwater materia. Though what we know now we might.

Try this (foolproof) -> KOTR==HP Asorb, Counter(MUST BE MASTER)==MINE. Fight alone, cast immedeatly KOTR and put away the controller. This

You definitely do not need kotr to beat him. I was 11 when i omnislashed him down with constant use of great barrier+white wind.
Okay...next time i play FF7, i'll be using this technique.
