    Hi, I'm a user of fractal models AX8, Ax fx 2xl+, fm3 and Ax FX 3 ... a few months ago on the recommendation of a friend in the US I bought the Boss GT1000 products and they are incredible in quality, reliability and portability ... they are totally undervalued ...no other brand stomp can achieve the conventions and amount of available effects that a Boss gt1000 core can do, besides being the only one that works with a 32bit and 96khz dsp which is incredibly noticeable in sound when connected to boxes frfr ... it sounds good without adjusting practically anything .. according to my preference I inserted IR's Celetion and it was all ... a wonderful sound in both PA and FRFR and not only is it capable of excelling in these items, but it is also possible control your real amplifier and use it in the fx loop stage, as well as by 4 cable method, control via MIDI and only for 700USD.... I think it's the best that exists in the market at this value and I don't see close competition in functionality more than an ax fx2 XL+ or a Helix Floor which cost 3 times more and in portability and speed for live editing... there is no competition for it.... wonderful

    I got the GT-1000/CORE and got a guitar after not touching guitar for maybe 6 years. Had a GT-8 I think at some point.
    Same day, I go to a friend's house, we hook up both guitars to the GT-1000/CORE, after 10 minutes I figure out how to completely split the chain, each of us dialed in his own sound, we had two guitars running at the same time and had a blast.

    Re: Latency, the number to remember is that the speed of sound is very close to 1000 feet per second (maybe the only thing the imperial system of units is good for!). That's about 1 foot per millisecond. So the difference in feel between 0.5 ms and 1.8 ms is the same difference in feel if you step back from your amp about a half a meter. I don't think too many players keep their distance constant to within a half meter when playing live. I suppose if you're used to sitting in front a speaker at a very specific distance, you might notice it. -Tom

      @@jarrydwilliams237 Because of the finite speed of propagation of sound, distance (between transducer and listener) equals time lag. Any singer who has ever performed live for the first time with wedge monitors knows that the time lag due to distance is disorienting. That's part of the notion of "feel" when performing through a system that has a time lag between the performer's action and their perception of the result, whether it's due to distance (sound propagation time) or latency (electronic signal processing time). In both cases, it's *time lag* that matters. It doesn't matter whether its cause is sound propagation time or a DSP algorithm's latency. You perceive a mismatch between what you did and what you hear either way. With experience you can compensate for it, up to a point.

    I feel like the way this thing handles the cab block and output setup is based around it being a “fly rig” setup. You take this with you and you plug into whatever is there and change that one setting to kinda make it match how it would’ve sounded somewhere else. Boss’ decision probably has to do with how Japanese people hardly ever haul around amps/cabs/speakers since they’re usually not driving a car to the rehearsal or gig and don’t really have a choice but to plug into the same dusty ol’ JC-120 as everyone else.

      You probably wouldn't want to use this as your primary audio interface since it has unbalanced outputs and you wouldn't be able to use the phones output and "monitor" outputs at the same time. Imo, you have to step up to the GT-1000 to get a full-featured audio interface. Performance wise they're the same but the full sized has a much better gui, control, and has switches built in as well as an expression pedal. It is better in basically every respect. Also, you'll probably want the bluetooth feature somewhere down the line. Another thing I realized: the GT-1000 looks lame in pictures, but awesome in person. I'd recommend trying one out from Sweetwater or similar. If you're really wanting to use this as an audio interface, which is what I'm using mine for a lot of the time, I'd go with the full sized.

I went through the whole decision-making thing about a month ago, but once I had the full sized thing in my setup, I realized that if I wanted to use this thing as an "everything" box, the Core was not going to cut it for me. It's worth the extra $300 just on switches, dual expression pedal, and balanced outputs alone. You could try to cobble a similar thing using add ons like a DI box, two FS-7 footswitches, but then you're in the same ballpark pricewise, and even then, you'll never expand the Core into a Full sized, unless Boss comes out with some midi add-on built for that, but then you're in the territory of fantasy, waiting, and ultimately, why would they want to do that when their flagship is what they ultimately want people to use.
      IMO the designers really knew what they were doing with the Full sized, and the designers also knew exactly in which areas to handicap the Core so that it could never measure up to it's bigger brother.

      @@johnnathancordy honestly I think they are all good - but some dialed in easier than others. I was amazed when I checked out the livesets because I liked models the way they dialed in better than when I had tried with the same model. In short - I think Boss has a very underrated unit here in terms of modeling - with a little trial and effort I'm confident this unit can compete with the best.

      It doesn’t have that function unfortunately. Probably just best to make a preset with nothing on it.

    For the first few weeks I had the GT-1000CORE, I was torn. I love the features, build quality and sheer versatility. But, I had an issue with my tones at home not matching what I hear at church plugged into our board. The bottom line is, the front end of ANY amp is going to serious color your tone. I use an Orange Crush 60 Pro 1x12. I decided to run straight into the Return jack on the back and am I glad I did! I'm sure the speaker and cab still color the sound to a degree but nowhere as much as the front-end of the amp. Now I can hear the difference between the different SP cabs, etc and get a more accurate representation of what it will sound like plugged into a board.
    Now that I can the nuances of the different settings/amps/cabs etc. I can't stop playing with it! You really need to try this in you loop return on your amp; your master volume should still work, mine does.

      BOSS has setlist, not snapshots. You can also program the arrow up, arrow down and CTRL 1 to do several operations at once. Such as; turn on boost and delay for 1 button or any number of features within the patch can be switched in 1 button. Confusing to setup but works like snapshots.

      @Techo1329 3 года назад +1

      You can save specific IR's to specific patches...just have to have the 'Output Select' set to 'Recording', then within the patch you select which IR to use in the 'Output Block/s'. You can even use a different IR for left and right if outputting in stereo.

    I hear artificial in 10 seconds. Same as like fractal, cortex. I used to use some boss devices and it seems like they carry it until today. Hx stomp and line 6 are different. I used to disappoint 10 years ago but now it’s very different. As a jazz, fusion player, the tone and articulation is the most important thing. And i satisfied for my choice

    Apart from higher fidelity audio, more power and less latency, this thing is honestly blown out of the water by the HX Stomp - even if they were the same price, let alone that the Boss is £200 more expensive new. The UI is just horrible IMO, as is the fixed block aspect.

      It's due to the UI (or more correctly, the UX) on these devices that has lead me to turn away from them altogether. One Knob-Per-Function, please, and if it must have a screen, then no menus.

      Try one. You might like it. I don't think HX Stomp blows it out of the water. I think this rivals Helix Floor for power, surpasses it for fx quality, but has a few little design quirks that can be daunting to the uninitiated. The blocks are not fixed. You can move them around anywhere you like, and even though Helix seems to offer total signal chain freedom, I found that it runs out of DSP as soon or sooner than the GT-1000. Apart from this, it doesn't cause ground loop issues, at least with my setup. All of this for less than half the price of the Helix floor, and a screen that in my experience doesn't distract from playing.
