    Last time I was this early, Trotsky was the heir

    • @mattbenz99
      @mattbenz99 8 лет назад

      Trotsky was never the heir. He was someone Lenin thought was competent enough to rule but he never saw him as an heir. Lenin wanted a council to succeed him, not any one person. Besides the Russians would have never accepted Trotsky as a leader because he was Jewish and antisemitism was just as wide spread in revolutionary Russia as in Nazi Germany.

    • @elrichjr301
      @elrichjr301 8 лет назад

      Antisemitism was widespread within the upper class in the Russian Empire, who were frightened by a perspective of cities being overcrowded by the Jews. When the revolution took over, a new concept was introduced - friendship of peoples, which was quite wise, considering the size and population diversity of the former empire.

      ummm u mean they wouldnt accept jewish trozkij as successor to jewish lenin? mehhh doubt it .... btw the only reason lenin thought trotzkij to be a better successor then stalin was because he wasnt as quick to rage like the georgian and btw if nationalism would have been a decisive factor the georgian would have had similiar problems as the jewish option

    • @brandonlyon730
      @brandonlyon730 8 лет назад

      The whole accepting the Jews in society is kind of odd considering the Soviets very anti-religion stance, especially during Stalin's reign.

    If you change from Communist to anything really you lose the 'Trostsky plot' modifier (I played a Fascist Russia) however you do lose the ability to go down the Great Purge route and eventually the research slot, maybe a good idea to get it done however you will lose a lot of advisers and generals. Probably a good idea to get the Democratic reformer before doing the Purge

    I usually go with the Grand Battleplan Doctrine. As long as you're willing to sit on your ass its super powerful. Let the enemy just bounce of you, wasting their manpower and equipment against your superior entrenchment, gaining experience for you rdivisions and generals while you wait for the all division to be fully prepaired which gives them an 80% combat bonus once you get on only the second step of the tree. Once they're all ready just charge in, the enemy is already weakened by trying to attack you and your bonus' means you can wreck a superior force. I always make sure to have air superiority also. Once your advance starts to slow just rinse and repeat. You move slowly but I'm able to fight wars taking only 20% as much causalties as the enemy.

    Shen, your ability to pronounce russian names and sounds in russian way is very admirable. If u r into it, i want to notice, that Ivan is pronoced a lot different. In russian it sounds like Ivanka Trump but withoutk ka.
    btw i v noticed in one of your streams (Turkey against USSR) you saying Moskva, Moskve. most of russian nouns can have up to 6 endings. (not only 2). And this shit is so complicated for non-russian speaker, so that i can't explain it. It's even more complicated than english articles for russian speakers :)
    whan u say, i conqured moscow, it's MoskvU. Whan u say, i live in Moscow, it's MoskvE. Whan u say i go out of Moscow, it's Moskvi, whan you say i m proud of Moscow, it's Moskvoi.
    I mentionit, because, whan u said "I conqured Moskve" i wished u said just MoskvA without being too cool ))) you r cool already. no need to be too cool :)

    Trotsky's claim to be Lenin's "successor" was rejected because, A) Marxism isn't supposed to have that kind of succession, B) Trotsky's line of Permanent Revolution was wildly unpopular in the Party (as evidenced by the referendum on the subject, which saw Trotsky defeated by something like 80%), and C) there was an is serious doubt of the validity of Lenin's "testament."

    • @MisanthropicMarxist
      @MisanthropicMarxist 8 лет назад +6

      As for Trotskyite conspiracies, Trotsky's letters to his son, Leon Sedov (preserved in both the Harvard Trotsky Archive and the archive of the Hoover Institute), establish that he was in secret communication with various figures in the USSR, and that he expected an uprising which he could ride into power. How accurate that expectation was is difficult to say.

    • @brandonlyon730
      @brandonlyon730 8 лет назад +5

      It is indeed debatable that Lenin intended Trotsky to be his successor, but it was definitely confirmed that he hated Stalin and feared for him ever getting to involved in Soviet Politics. Funny and ironic thing about Marx though, he was reported to have been a bit racist against Russians.

    • @paulholland9293
      @paulholland9293 8 лет назад +1

    • @brandonlyon730
      @brandonlyon730 8 лет назад +1

      I wasn't just referring to just Trotsky, Lenin.has said to have his own fear for Stalin. His grand Secretary job was never meant for much importance, but Stalin made it by allowing him to pick yes men for the governing council in charge of picking leaders, so when Lenin died the the rest of the Soviet government basically let him be in charge.

    Shen, I would suggest going for Stalin Constitution first as it would allow you to change your economy into War Economy, which would give you lots more factories than 4 factories from FYP. Only Fascists and Communists can do that right now and it's a waste not to abuse it, I think. Afterwards you can take FYP or go all the way for new research slot through Stalin Constitution path.

    Instead of renaming armies and such just create a theatre for each army to be put in, so instead of renaming a army "Polish Front" put that army in it's own theatre which you then rename "Polish Front" (the theatre), this makes it alot easier for organisation. Also don't put random units in each army, mountaineers shouldn't fight on plains but in the hills and tank should be the ones fighting in plains. Put units in that army according on what terrain you are going to invade, so for Poland put Infantry and tanks, there are almost no mountains there which make the mountaineer not any better than normal infantry and the mountaineers benifit more on the Turkey front where there are plenty of mountains!

  • @quarthinos
    @quarthinos 8 лет назад

    I tend to think the best single player start for USSR is to immediately get Stalinist Constitution, and use the political points to switch to a War Economy. You're not only getting rid of the construction penalty, you're also getting 12 civilian factories to build with, because you make fewer toasters. Finishing the five year plan gives four civilian factories, but the civilian economy promptly eats some of them to make more toasters. Certainly the second thing to do is the five year plan and the free military factories.
    The other possibility (and what I'd seriously consider in MP) is to just jump straight into the Purge, but unless Japan goes super war mongering, you've got plenty of time to find the traitors to the revolution! A Historical AI will give you plenty of time to get Constitution, Factories, and finish the Purge (and start to work on the -40%) before the shooting starts in Europe. At least once, I even finished the Purge, and Stalin retired to his cabin in the woods days later, which meant I didn't have to live with the continued spectre of Trotsky.

    In interest of historical accuracy, Soviet and Russian Army Groups were named "Fronts" and there could be more than one to a region (i.e. First Byelorussian Front, Second Byelorussian Front, etc.)

    • @christophhoelbarth217
      @christophhoelbarth217 8 лет назад

      Why the "y" in "Byelorussian". I am pretty sure that is wrong.
      The "е" in "белорусский" isn't stressed, so no "y"or"j" or so needed. And if you do not use the Kyrillic-Alphabet, I wouldn't use the "o", just use an "a", as it is also not stressed in the russian language and thus isn't pronounced as o, but kinda as "a".
      In the end it should look kinda like: "Belarussian" or "Belarusski", but probably not "Byelorussian"

      His son Yakov died in a German concentration camp, his son Vasily was a distinguished air force officer and lived until 1967, and his daughter defected, also in '67, and moved to the US

    Shouldn't the Soviets technically have no civilian factories whatsoever, considering communism and the huge no no to free enterprise.

    • @Zeredek
      @Zeredek 8 лет назад +1

      "civilian factories" simply refers to non-military factories
      communism just means the government owns said factories, instead of corporations

      I think between HOI4, Vic2, EUIV, and CKII Vic2 is the hardest lol. I never could quite figure it out. Easiest to hardest for me has been CKII -> HOI4 -> EUIV -> Vic2.

      Kabsef
      I forgot to add Stellaris, which is imo the easiest one of all of them. CKII is only really difficult due to the way politics is handled, once you get a grasp it isn't too hard (it also helps that I play as the vikings most of the time lol). HOI4 is complex, but it's really only the actual battles that can be difficult (and even then not always, though I hate how the AI operates). EUIV and HOI4 are close in difficulty imo, but I'm slightly better at HOI4. They require a different mindset than the other two for sure though.

      Explain to me - how exactly one "crazy" man can have "total control" over at least government and army of largest country in the world with 170 million population and thousands of cities, factories, power plants etc? What's the purpose of multi-level government structure then? And parliament?

    • @cybervantyz
      @cybervantyz 8 лет назад

      vycka1234 Who told you that they were "autocrats"? What it does even mean? One man never can be in power - it is always group of powerful men. No one can be "leader" alone.
      Hitler was not alone. Mao was certainly not alone. So as Stalin.
      I wonder how you people are actually stupid out there

    You don't have to go that ahistorical, it would make sence as Russia to focus more on Mass assault. But it's your game do whatever you want.

    • @IgnatzKolisch
      @IgnatzKolisch 8 лет назад

      You can't start as Russia in this game, it wasn't an independent country during that time, and so isn't a starting option. Maybe someone has modded it in, though.

    • @karlaunin2

      IgnatzKolisch USSR is basically the same as Russia, its first leaders were Russian, its official language was Russian, anything to do with the nationalism of the countries USSR occupied was forbidden. You must be deluded if you think they are not the same.
