Looks cool. Hard for me to pay that much for a brushed Corvette.
You mean brushed?
I agree. What a crap motor.
Why do they still make rtr with brushed motors?
Did they add money to the sticker
@@walterraulerson2986 they have gold in them
*Most People: What kind of crazy person drives their new corvette in the dirt?
*Brett and Florida Guys: Hold my beer.....
*Also Brett: Y'all wanna see me jump my drag car off this curb?
In a lot of those opening shots, it was almost indistinguishable from real.
It's a waste of money in my opinion and it can't even get to the claimed 30 mph on the optional gearing, get a HPI RS4 sport flux for the same price and it's brushless (70 mph), also you can't fit aftermarket 1/10th bodies on it because the wheelbase is too long.
Yeah I think I've seen most people return 26ish on the optional gear. For some light neighborhood bashing without breaking the bank its pretty solid I think though
I was getting ready to buy one now I've got another one to research. I have a associated tc4. I like it but it's 15yrs old. Still in good shape. You really think the HPI RS4 is much better? What batteries should I buy? Thanks
@@craigmax3779 I think the RS4 is a good car, they don't look as scale as the 4tec but they are built well and can go pretty fast on the optional gearing. You could just get a gensace 3S lipo and you should be good to go.
I think it's cool. Definitely not a "basher" or a "speed runner" but it's cool. Looks awesome and handles pretty nicely from what I've seen. Very cool functional shelf queen
More of a collector piece I think
Nothing to do with this post but wanna say how great your Costner support is !! Thank fellas !!!!! We had an issue and they solved it no problem !!!!!!!!! Will always purchase from Now on!
1) Other then the longer chassis, longer steel center driveshaft, front/rear driveshafts w/ outdrives, the larger diameter wheels with wider offset, and the parts related to the body mounting system, ALL (from what I've been able to determine) other parts are the same as those used on the 2.0 (and, to be honest, while I haven't yet checked, the front/rear driveshafts might also be the same).
2) The motor plate is NOT compatible with ONLY the 72T spur...it IS also compatible with the 70T, 62T, & 55T spur gears. Yes, Traxxas only included a pinion chart in the manual based on the 72T spur...but, the chat for the other spur gears is found in the 2.0 manual, which can be downloaded. Upon opening my 3.0 box, the first thing I did was swap the rest Electronics for the Velineon brushless system, and the stock plastic motor mount for the machined motor mount (compatible with BOTH the 2.0 & 3.0) from HR.
Other that that, the car has been a blast...not a "total blast", but definitely a "blast". The 'problem' is probably that the Velineon's 3500kv motor isn't powerful enough and/or the gearing needs to be changed. I've got the 70T spur on the way, and will be testing that (on 2S & 3S) with the stock pinion. Depending on the results of those tests, that will determine how I continue (higher kV and/or higher tooth-count pinion). The "goal" is to be running on 3S, not 2S.
I'm running 5900kv, max 10sct esc with 29/62 gearing. I'm running 70 with no temp issues. I may go down a tooth or two on the pinion just to get a little low end power back. Otherwise, super happy. 3s regular daily bashing is perfect.
@@mikehansen9898 I have neither the old or new 3.0 4tec but a lot of people I've heard say the 2.0 with the shorter chassis actually handles better for racing. Do you have both? Which one do you have more fun with?
@@williamperri3437 definitely go with the 2.0 for your first tec. 3.0 is a lot of the 2.0 but the wheels are a stupid size that limits your ability to modify or change them out.
@@mikehansen9898 did not realize that but I hate when car companies do that! I guess I should have known watching RC driver online when he kept saying how wide the tires were... now, my next problem is for about 100 the Kyosho apparently handles much better out of the box. I've actually had the 69 Camaro Kyosho in the Box for well over a year I just don't like the body as much as the Chevelle and haven't gotten around to running it but I hear they are amazing as well
@@williamperri3437 the Fazer chassis is solid. I started running those when Vaterra folded and V100 died. Losi now builds the V100 so I'm back to those too. The brushless Fazer chassis is the sweet spot. Best bang for the buck.
That's a cool quick release system, hopefully it's durable.
That's what I told her.😜
Ya know, that is a sharp-looking body, I wouldn't be able to use out of fear for its destruction. I would just buy a regular run-of-the-mill or second body. Have one for display when it is on the shelf and the other for bashing/racing.
Yep i 100% agree, 1 bump and ur pretty body is gone, im fine with my 2.0 mustang body
I have 2.0 never off the shelf!
This has more realistic tail pipes than some new cars.
the red one is absolutely beautiful.
I like how literally none of the reviewers or anybody else has said anything about the clearly afterthought bolts sticking through the rear quarter panel holding the rear fender on.
They could have used double sided tape - but that would add a weird gap. The rear of the body curvs under the bottom of the car - and there's no good way of moulding that in a vaccum form. Detailed bodys from brands like Killerbody, Pandora or ABC also use separate bumpers. Partly for that reason. I think Pandora has scale body kits too. :P
Man they really cut a lot of corners. Stickers for windows? Brushed Motor? And a price tag of $329? Pfff, hard pass.
So my thoughts about this car:
Just another 4tec with another body (like the ford gt...)
And a pile of plastic junk, they sould remake the nitro 4tec
@@contraststriker8198
I am no traxxas pro, i drive other brands that are just as durable, and cheaper. I dont know anything about traxxas i drive my serpent cobra T (german engineering😂👍)
Hey I'll tell you this much my wltoys144001 cost 1/4 of this car and mine is faster.
@@gr769er9 😂
My serpent runs 107 kmh (weak motor)
Out of the box the cobra T would do a solid 115kmh
But the serpent costs new 600€...
Nice ! I think for the beginners it would be a great starter car
Not at this price point. You could have a nice brushless in this price range.
I do like the body clip system. Would be cool if someone made a generic variant :P
It's a bit weird to have a 12T motor i in a touring car though. And that wheelbase is weird. Is it even considerd a 1/10?
About as impressive as a New Bright C8 Corvette that you can buy for $35, the target market will use it for roughly the same time.
Not really but ok. Lol.
@@mikehansen9898 think about it, they both have gutless brushed motors so they can’t really do any stunts, they are both roughly the same size and appearance with the Traxxas having a few nicer details, and the average young child has plenty of other things to distract them. Save your money, or look elsewhere.
its my 4th 0ne i have 3 2.0s i put 6s in my 3.0 fits perfect with a little modifing the chasis love the new clipless body also
Hummm one small detail you left out how hot that brushed motor got after you thrashed it
Also i would not buy it even if i could the traxxas brushed system is only any good in a trx4 because its not under load no point in a touring car with brushed electronics
I almost cried when you took the body off at the end 😭 but yes it is a fun car, I'm a huge MAXX fan but I drove my buddies Corvette and yep very fun, I definitely need a road car now!!!
Need Brushless Version. Need Drift Tyres. TQ Radio is a joke. Rest is very goooood.
Yes, there should be a brushless version that is almost the same price because 400$ is so much damn money for a slow, pathetic C8
I got one of these recently and love it (as someone pretty darn new to the hobby with smaller run distances in a nighborhood its pretty solid!) ... but.. where in the world does one find tires in the OEM sizes?!?! ARGH!
The body looks so solid
The Ford GT is the best looking body traxxas has ever made
This Corvette is so cool we're going to buy three of them one for me one for my wife one for my grandson awesome
Highly recommend the stabilization bars. Sticks to the road so much better
Get me one too
Wish they had done all these new touring cars on an updated vxl chasis
My snap on one came with the headlights.
I saw someone with this car and it's COOL
Bought the 4tec 2.0 vxl instead. This one is to slow and has only a few parts and bodies...
Nice. The 2.0 is a sweet car and fast! Congrats.
-Brett
It's pretty but I wouldn't be doing slide outs in the dirt like it shows in beginning minute or so
AMain Hobbies i would like your opinion, what is the best out of the box off road RC for durability?
Oh boy, I don't know. There are many great vehicles in different sizes, power requirements and prices. Not sure what you're looking for, but the Traxxas Hoss and Big Rock 3S BLX are both great 3S brushless bashers. The Maxx is another great option, so are any of the Arrma 6S BLX vehicles. If you want a big vehicle, it's hard to beat the Traxxas X-Maxx 8S, and its pretty dang durable too. Do you have something in mind you're looking for?
-Brett
It's cool and all but why is it brushed for this price? Not even a TQi Radio? I feel like Traxxas just gives you a scale body for a ridiculous price point.
I can not bring myself to actually run mine! It is too Purdy! Mine is actually the 2.0.
I would gear it up and put a bigger motor on it and make it a sleeper..
Cool but not worth the $. I bought the basic version with the titan motor, gutted it and installed a Castle 2700kv motor and 1/10 Mamba X ESC with 55 spur and 35 pinion, sealed ceramic bearings throughout the whole car and I'm doing 105mph consistent.
NICE! I was thinking of getting a Traxxas Corvette ZR1 3.0 also, but my kyosho Fazer mk 2 1969 Camaro is faster and I have both brushed and brushless VE kyosho Fazer 1969 Camaro's. My brushed with 2 S lipo goes around the same speed at half the price and my VE brushless go's faster and still is a lost less expensive than the Traxxas Corvette ZR1 here in Australia. Even a Traxxas Slash or ford Raptor is less expensive than the Corvette ZR1. Still a beautiful car.
Im sure they offer a brushless version probably VXL
Make a video of upgrading this car to brushless pls. Tq
Great review. That clipless body is brilliant!
That's probably what everybody said about the body mounting on the Maxx. Not the greatest invention. It works if you stay on the ground. Take or jump or get air and a hard landing. Body will go flying from the car with the latch in the closed position
Great details and upgrades, yet what's with the 2 visible pan head screws above the rear wheels? 😀 You can't un-see them !
If this helps get kids started in RC then I'm cool with it
Kids and man child’s alike. Any adult that is playing around with any rc car is a kid 😂 If you think about it, we are quite a pathetic bunch the rc community 😢
Clear widows and better wheels, and lowered the body , it’ll look sharp
Nice let me buy one , oh they on backorder lol 😆 never understood review on cars cant get 😅
Nice I love a Traxxas release
Love it! Own the special edtion Silver
It looks beautiful but don’t know if its worth buying. Is it tho?
Nice, but it's Traxxas.
Awsome review
If tou have a small one , then , this is for you .. you know what i mean !!
Salut my friend super car super video .
Such a incredibly beautiful car right up until you roll it all along that concrete.
Then it becomes a drifter. Then you smack that curb, catch a crack and roll it along that concrete.
Then it becomes your "speed" car, basher and start letting your friends driving it haha..
They still haven’t hit Canadian hobby shops yet...lol
Sweeeeet!
Have a wonderful day and weekend!
Great J🤩B!!!
Review the new drag slash
Wow that is amazing looking
You lost me at rtr. Moving on.
Put there a traxxas maxx/traxxas hoss brussles system in. nice video
Looks sick
I like the 67 Stingray better.
course you do old man
In every aspect except looks it’s sucks compared to the c8. 67’ looks cool, but that’s it.
Agree, but time has to move on, and so does car design unfortunately
Ripped mine today for first time, 26mph w/ speed pinion and 2s 5200 100c lipo. Does not drift as well as 2.0, then again neither should be drifting in stock tires
Traxxas should have kept the 4tec a NITRO vehicle.
I agree with that
That is beautiful! I must have it!
China loves you too. Chuck Fina!🦇😋😷🙈😡
Doses it comes with the batter
Quick question about the UDR and the batteries. I don’t know how else find this info out other than to call Traxxas themselves. So if I run two 3-cell lipo batteries in a UDR. Is that more voltage and MAh than running a single 4-cell lipo battery in the UDR.
I ask because I am trying to figure out what has more speed and a longer run time for my UDR.
If you’re running them in series, two 3s batteries will provide 6s voltage to the motor. However, they will both drain simultaneously, and you’ll only get the effective run time of one 3s.
If you’re running the batteries in parallel, then you have the voltage of only one 3s battery, but the batteries will drain half as fast, doubling your run time but halving your voltage.
2x3s in series is likely what you’ll run (I can’t think of a car with parallel circuitry out of the box) which will provide you with 50% more voltage than 1x4s. If your 3s cells are smaller than your 4s cells, you’ll get a shorter run time. If they’re the same size, you should get roughly even run times.
When are you guys gonna restock on the redcat thunder drift
It's been on order for many months. It's unclear what the issue is but i've sent out an email to our purchase department for info. Ask again in a few days and I should have an answer'ish for you.
-Brett
I can’t wait to get mine
Is the black racing stripe painted on or is it a decal?
Shoot, I don't remember. It's been a little while since we made this video and we don't have the car here anymore. I'm guessing it's a decal.
-Brett
Man one of my favorite cars is a RC now... *take my wallet.*
Huh so its more of a toy/basher not race car
Potential
I just want my Bronco 😞
Cool
Nice!
“Of the real mid engine super car”
Super car, eh?
yup
It competes against ferrari and porsche in imsa racing. So yeah. American super car.
$350 and it doesn't even come with TSM? The old Ford GT was $240 and it came with TSM.
$300 plus for that? Comon, man!
So much technology
What should I do if sunk my scx 24 and cleaned it to prevent rust but the esc and servo don’t work
Replace the esc and servo with new units and you should be good to go. Just don't get them wet next time.
-Brett
@AMainHobbies can I run the 3.0 off-road on super smooth dirt? I really want it but don’t really want to get it because it can’t run off-road
Yeah you could, just be sure to regularly clean the vehicle.
-Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies thanks!
With this clip less system, can you adjust body height?? Doesn't look like it
You can lower the body by changing thinner C clip insert on suspension shocks.
@@KaniZRC oh lord, doesn't help
Whens the next b74.1 vid?
Traxxas needs more wheels the only other ones are from the traxxas Toyota supra which are better and stickier than the corvette ones
So if I got it what wheel size would I get for it to look normal
Wheel and tire options include the stock Traxxas parts, or aftermarket Touring Car tires and wheels.
-Brett
Ouch 28 mph
Is this car from traxxas or not? Because i see an traxxas radio.😅
It literally says traxxas all over it
I saw it on display in the amain store 😀
Good for you 9 year old
@@the-drifter-4242 im 100% sure im older than you buddy
Nice, I saw that one too. This car from the video is going to the retail store as well, will probably be a demo car to use.
-Brett
Designed so you are forced to buy traxxas wheels and bodies.
Pretty much this. They could have just retro-fitted a clip system on the 4-Tec 2.0.
Pass
So it’s not a C8😣🤷🏽♂️
This pisses me off so much how the Corvette and supra body are only on the brushed car, its bullshit
DON'T LET TEMPTATIONS FORCE YOU TO FEED THE SNAKE. CHUCK FINA!🦇😋😷🙈😡
I wonder if it would be a good speed car.
Probably not when you get a limitless for the same price
28mph? Yawn. They need to make a brushless version
Maybe nobody cares but I am done with Traxxas. I am super disappointed in my Maxx, I have spent way too much money to make it dependable and I don't even bash that hard. I mean, there was just so much not right with it from the start and it was expensive! Besides the plastic driveshafts, the electronics are complete garbage. The radio that they come with is garbage, the servo has plastic gears and died shortly, the servo saver is weak, and I'm sending out my motor and ESC in a few days for a motor failure that fortunately is under warranty. I also had to replace those stupid wheel washers. Traxxas is not getting another dime.
Even in rc Chevy is slow
A quick release for life? Sounds a little bit like suicide... maybe not the best line
its funny how many people think the c8 is a super car🤣🤣
Well it kinda is… I’m not saying it is a super car but I’m not saying it not
Releasing the Corvette body on a BRUSHED pig with the most basic servo and and esc…. Id be expecting Chevrolet to be reconsidering their relationship with Traxxas… obviously mustang fans
dude.
Lol...my wltoys 144001 cost 1/4 of this car and it's even faster.
For the price I don't think this is worth it
Dude stop putting it in dust !!!!
brushed motor = useless
