  • So, I finally modded my Keychron K2 V2 mechanical keyboard. It’s my daily driver and I feel like it's got one of the best sound signatures out there: a jelly epoch like flavour with deeper tones. Would love to hear from you on what you think. This was done on Gat Reds so this may not even be its final form ...

    I got the K2 V2 with Gateron Brown switches, cause I prefer the tactile feel and it has good THOCK as per stock. The only thing I might change in future would be the keycaps to suit my style, but other than that I'm super happy with the Keyboard.

    Where may I purchase that sound deadening foam? This was such a great modding video, honestly the goal of how I want a keyboard. Outstanding Job!

    The mode switch of my k2 do not work well:/ That switch can be push away from the operating region, i have to push it back a little to turn on the keyboard. Have you faced this problem?

    • @atomechkeebs
      @atomechkeebs  2 года назад

      Not particularly. When I put the board back together, just had to ensure that the switch on the case sits neatly with the switch connected to PCB, then there should be no problems. The couple of times I had issue was when it wasn’t lined up properly when I put the bird back together.

    How did you remove the battery cable? Mine felt like it is glued or something. I wont come off

    • @atomechkeebs
      @atomechkeebs  Год назад

      Some definitely tighter then others. Typically I’ll use needle nose tweezers and keep wiggling till it loosens free. Never come across any which have been glued, but have come across super tight ones.

    How did you make sure the foam won’t trap heat and overheat / damage the battery ?

    • @atomechkeebs
      @atomechkeebs  Год назад

      The battery doesn’t really generate that much heat. As long as the wires are well connected I think it’s fine. My wife has been using the board as a daily driver since I modded it and has never had a problem. The latest vid on it with banana splits: vt.tiktok.com/ZSL2tgnFJ/

    Does the PE foam mod not affect the stabilizers? Wouldnt it feel mushy?

    • @atomechkeebs
      @atomechkeebs  Год назад

      They do. I found this out later as this was my second mod project so was very inexperienced. In all my later vids, I always cut out the stab footprint for PE template. They don’t get mushy as such from PE foam. More that the sound is bad because the foot of the stab stem is hitting the PE sheet which sits loose against PCB.

    Could I do an gummy o ring mod with this pcb and plate? I know I would have to cut down the standoffs but if I did would it work

    • @atomechkeebs
      @atomechkeebs  Год назад

      Mmm…it would be difficult because of the positioning of the PCB power switch on the side. Since it needs to sit flush with the plastic part of the switch on the case, I think you may run into a bit of problem here.

    • @collineisenbarth8220
      @collineisenbarth8220 Год назад

      @@atomechkeebs So the o ring would possibly interfere with the power/bluetooth switch on the side? Ugh uts hard to find great sounding bluetooth keyboard that doesn't break the budget. Thx for the help

    • @atomechkeebs
      @atomechkeebs  Год назад

      @@collineisenbarth8220 yeah. You could still give it a shot; even without an oring, the keyboard itself is very good and can still be modded with orings on the tray standoffs.

    Can this mod be done on a Keychron c1?

    • @atomechkeebs
      @atomechkeebs  2 года назад

      Never modded a c1 before, but if you’re able to open the case and remove switches (seems like it’s soldered board?), then you should be able to do the same mods.

      It was just a set I picked up from local hardware store when I first started out. I use the Wow stick now predominantly.

    Is it possible to lube the switches of a non hotswap version?

    • @atomechkeebs
      @atomechkeebs  2 года назад

      Only if you desolder can you open up the switches for lubing. Otherwise would need to spray lube.
