Also I'm glad they improved the drivers so much to the point that it was plug-n-play for you, after all the headaches we went through when the 7000 series came out it's awesome they finally overcame them. Hopefully they can get it right too for the 8000 series right from the get-go.

4:04 this is exactly why I much prefer using virtual desktop or even steam link Idk what happens inside the spaghetti code of oculus, but the app loves to take about 3x more encoding resources than virtual desktop, so if you're on something like a 2070 or below, using oculus is basically not an option, you won't get 120hz on the video stream unless you tune the res down This is also why if someone wants to stream or record long sessions, I can't recommend oculus as it'll struggle to keep the encoder framerate while also sharing resources with OBS But I will admit the graphs of the quest app are much better for measuring performance, been a while since one of these has came out so really glad to see them
I thought the Quest 3 is a standalone headset, unlike something like the Valve Index, which is hooked to a PC. Are virtual desktop and steam link things to play PCVR wirelessly on the Quest 3, or how does this work?
@derkevevin The quest 3 can connect to a PC and play SteamVR games, you can go wirelessly with virtual desktop (paid app but it's by far the best), steam link or the official oculus app You can also connect via USB cable for minimum latency with the official oculus app

There are no problems with H.264 on AMD GPUs and in fact it works better for me than H.265 since you can use a higher bitrate, it's only when you compare its hardware encoder to nvidia's that you notice that it has lower quality at the same bitrate, but I did notice that for the 7000 series they improved it and I see no difference compared to the 4000 series anymore except at very low bitrates of less than ~10Mbps, it's the same thing with H.265.
Doesn't Quest Link uses H.265 now? I was able to play Beat Saber in the past on my GTX680 because of H.264 encoding. Then one day i try playing and Quest Link doesn't work anymore, turned out that the app had been updated and no longer supported H.264 for video encoding for Quest Link.
AV1 and HEVC should look better than AVC. But we're talking about 200 Mbps bitrates ... Also AMD made a lot of improvements to AVC with the latest drivers. It's no longer the meme quality it was even 2 years ago

Also as a side note recently for some reason pavlov the recent update or something has screwed with CPU rendering my CPU keeps maxing out at 30 milliseconds and it is so choppy no matter what I change it won't fix it
Can you test laptop gpu,s?
Only problem I do notice with 7000 series is that some games(not many) it has some weird stuttering unless using openxr runtime(no oculus or steamvr) such as VTOL VR while evey other card works fine. I wonder whether its a Meta thing or AMD problem.
Can you make a 6800 xt vr performance vid?
So is AMD as good as Nvidia when it comest to VR?
This is a link to my most recent AMD GPU VR performance review; you be the judge.

@@Maraksot78 idk if this is sass or an AI response. I watched the whole video, I get it. But do I still need to a specific adrenalin driver for stability now or can I just plug and play?
@@Maraksot78 ok, nevermind. I watched the whole thing and it is plug and play. Sorry, I watched this 2 weeks ago, but I wasn't paying enough attention.
You should add no man's sky to your tests too.
测试一下amd gpu 在steamlink的效果
Test rx 6800 xt
so we get a 7900GRE review but no 7600XT review?
Does nvidia suck at vr?
No. Nvidia works great for VR.
@@Maraksot78 but is amd better then nvidia in vr?
