  • "Italian Mandolin Heroes in America" is now published and available through Zighi Baci Publishing. covers the major cities and Italian mandolin and accordion publishers who specialized in the village dances. About 130 musicians, many were multi-instrumentalists, composers, arrangers, conductors and recording artists who shaped the ballo liscio (couples dancing) tradition in America. This video is a 5-minute overview of my comprehensive biographical study of more than 130 Italian musicians who immigrated from remote Italian villages. The book is on sale via PayPal and eBay and directly from the author. Early reviews and comments:

I realized that Closed Captions need to be turned on in iPhone's Accessibility. Other than that, I apologize for densely packed CC. Thank you for checking it out.

It should be noted that none of these music stores or music publishers exist today. O. Di Bella in Bergenfield, NJ sells musical instruments and A. Cavalli is only a coffee house now. O. Pagani's closed in the mid 1980s when Costello became ill; she died in 1987. Had you been around even in the early 1980s, you could stop by or called 212--CHelsea--2--6744 to place an order or request a band arrangement or a mandolin trio; however, hardly anything was left from the original music catalogs. She had sold the bulk of the accordion music catalog to Faithe Defner. O. Pagani's morphed into a restaurant, and then a second restaurant adopted the O. Pagani name and stayed in business until it closed in April 2017.
