Yup and as an extended edition with the shortened and deleted scenes put back into the film, like Linda handing Bruce his shoes (after beating up the jocks) and Bruce crashing his bicycle into a car and flying off his bike in the process. 🤔
Having "Green Onions" as the backing track to a kitchen fight scene is ... kinda cool! :-)

Eh... Inaccurate in spots? Yeah. Jumbled timeline and its hagiography ultimately... And I know this because it spurred me to do more investigating into Bruce's life.
I love it but know it's shortcomings.

Fun fact: Nancy Kwan, who plays Ms. Yang, was trained by Bruce in "The Wrecking Crew" very early in Nancy's career.
But she's a strong woman, confidentiality, James.
For that small scene, she stole the movie with the philosophical scene.

The only two that stand out to me who did a great job portraying Bruce Lee and his usual mannerisms, is Jason Scott Lee, and Danny Chan. They really nailed his presence on screen, and his sound effects, and prowess with his lightning fast kicks and punches.
I like the line in the end when Bruce Lee says hes sorry about his father. To me it appears like hes aware of the racism caused by war and it didn't seem like a backhanded comment.
This was the best financial advice of his life.
Can wait when Bruce Lee the movie comes out summer 2024. Great about it will be Bruce Lee Daughter Shannon Lee who will be writer, and in charge.

It was the reason I got into martial arts
Martial Arts was so big back in the 80s and 90s. Karate Kid 1,2, and 3; Dragon the Bruce Lee Sory, Sidekicks, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. Plus Cody on Step by Step, and Urkel as Bruce Lee on Family Matters.
Those are some HUGE shoes to fill. Jason Scott Lee (no relation) did an amazing job in this movie.

I read a bio book about Bruce Lee called Wrath of the Dragon. Bruce actually got in a knife fight while working at a restaurant!

@@jinmo390Lee would practice on his wooden dummy in the alley outside of the kitchen and make a lot of noise; not just banging on the wood but-and this is something I only learned recently-making his world-famous vocalizations (yes, that apparently was a real thing, lol). Anyway, one of the cooks complained regularly about it to the point where he brandished a cleaver at Bruce, which prompted the response, "Then why don't you use it and shut me up?" Nothing happened. Until another day when he was practicing noisily with one of his students and the cook walked out with a kitchen knife meaning business this time. The student said it happened so fast he didn't know if it was a punch or kick, but Bruce hit the cook once and did a thing he called "helping people down," which was to politely catch them when they went unconscious and help them to the ground so they wouldn't hurt themselves. Lucky man. And I'm guessing he stopped complaining after that, lol.

Ms. Yang was the best thing that could have happened to Bruce. Don't know if this is even a little bit true, but a great part of his story.
Every time the would come on television, the chef would be censored into "get that son of a WITCH", and cut out the part where Bruce grabs the chefs groin.
Those were the days.

The point of this scene was basically to give a call back to the scene in "The Big Boss" where Bruce Lee destroyed a bunch of guys with weapons. Think about it, cus we know this never happened.
I think this fight was based on hearsay of his actual fights. He actually fought a karate guy in high school at a ymca gym in Seattle. But yeah he never went to college in California or fought guys at their gyms there.

Finally! Some official clips. This is one of my favorite movies ever. Jason Scott Lee did a brilliant job in this role. That's why it was kinda disappointing when I saw him a a caricature of Asian people in Balls of Fury. He's better than that.
