Jason Scott Lee and Lauren Holly star in this unforgettable glimpse into the life, love and the unconquerable spirit of the legendary Bruce Lee. From a childhood of rigorous martial arts training, Lee realizes his dream of opening his own kung-fu school in America. Before long, he is discovered by a Hollywood producer (Robert Wagner) and begins a meteoric rise to fame and an all too short reign as one of the most charismatic action heroes in motion picture history. Hailed as "an immeasurably entertaining movie" by CBS-TV, Dragon is ablaze with comedy, touching romance and spectacular martial arts sequences.

I saw Bruce as a kid in the 70's in San Francisco. There is no one better than Bruce Lee. I am now in my 60's. Still love every minute of watching him. He is the opitami of the art. A legend! Everyone is now compared to him. No one has passed the bar. . .and never will.
Had this on VHS when I was younger. Musta seen every fight atleast a hundred times. Jason Scott Lee killed it
HAHA U and me bro man! I wouldnt be surprised to find a recorded VHS of this movie. I watched this movie SOOO many times its etched into my mind almost!
Same man hahah
Some of the best fight scenes still to this day. Jason Scott Lee did a phenomenal job as Bruce
all the fight scenes in this movie are not even good.. many of the kicks and punches are looking sloppy.. you can clearly see they aiming for the air.. the camera work also is not good for a fight scene.. the movie has a emotional meaning because many of us were watching it at young age.. but the action is not good :/
Best portraiting of Bruce Lee EVER. Jason Scott Lee did an outstanding job, in certain parts semms like Bruce Lee himself! Kudos!
He’s the best actor to play Bruce and he did a great job.
Bruce was arrogant, as are lots of fighters/movie stars. Van Damme had an arrogance, Stallone, Norris, Jai White, Gary Daniels, the list goes on.
I still get chills on the second fight even now.
If you can't beat Chuck Norris, you can't beat Bruce Lee.
Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story | Bruce Lee vs. Johnny Sun -- Both Fights
It’s a shame Jason Scott Lee didn’t get bigger roles after this. He’s a good actor with lots of charisma.
He did play in The Jungle Book but after that, I didn't see him play in anything else until I saw The Hangover where he played Chow's bodyguard or right hand man
Balls of fury
Hollywood is Racist.
It's actually even More racist now than 50 uears ago.
I think he is now a porn actor and competed with Johnny Sins
@@KingGemini87 I loved the SOLDIER (1998) movie as well. Not so long role for Jason Scott Lee but the scene together with Kurt Russel was so cool!
He may not have been the perfect Lee lookalike, but he played the part very well. Probably my favourite 'tribute' actor.
Yeah for sure , you're right, he's good in this role.
He looked a lot like Bruce in his screen test audition.Shame that they didnt use that look in the film
Evet gerçekten de öyle
He was a cooler bruce lee than even bruce lee was
I don't think that anybody can even get close to portraying Lee in the action sequences. Bruce Lee moved so fast. But Jason Scott Lee might have gotten more of the look if he were 20 lbs. lighter. Not that he doesn't have a fine physique. It is just that Bruce Lee carried such incredibly little body fat.
Jason Scott was so good in this movie that sometimes my memories of this movie and actual Bruce Lee movies get blurred. One of the best!
Jason Scott Lee did an outstanding job, especially considering he knew nothing about martial arts prior to this role.
Even if the film isn't 100% accurate about Bruce Lee's life, it's the best Bruce Lee story in the market. All the other films that came out many years later aren't as good.
I actually think the most recent ones suck! This one is just amazing
He trained and became a certified JKD instructor under former Bruce Lee student Jerry Poteet, who can also be seen in the film as the audience is leaving the arena. He’s the guy with the goatee wearing a white shirt.
Bruce lee 👎
Can't argue, I spent so much time enjoying this movie. Just wish the ending could've been a bit longer.
Did Lee ever compete professionally? Or is this just bullshit?
@@nathanbauman1579 He did compete consistently especially on his younger days , but he was so good and strong, some officials banned him in competition thinking he might kill somebody. So later he just decided to do excibitions and teach and then later one of his students in Cali thought he could be good in movies and as they say the rest is history.
This scene is unbelievable remember when I saw the movie. And this guy is unreal and abilities is unreal. Nobody could played Bruce Lee better than Jason Scott Lee this dude is something else unbelievable talent that's it.
Naw Danny Chan Kwok Kwan plays Bruce better. Looks more like him and moves more similar to Bruce Lee (also he’s an ACTUAL martial artist not just an actor). He played bruce in the Legend of Bruce Lee series and in the Ip Man movies. His scenes payed tribute to Bruce’s Jeet Kun Do a lot better. Jason does the sounds and is ripped, but his movements are almost nothing like a Bruce Lee fight scene.
@@LorenzYoCubing jason did pretty good considering he was a first time (martial arts wise) wish he would've accepted the role to play Liu Kang for the Mortal Kombat film then. He definitely would've made a better LK than Robin Shou
Rest in peace Bruce Lee. You were the best and your legacy will remain forever!!🤜🤛
From about 8:40 to 8:50 was one of the best scenes ever filmed.
RIP Lee
A best martial arts legend, he was a legacy.
🙏🏻👍🏻🙏🏻👍🏻
This was a great martial arts film …bring these back
Love Jason's subtle expressions just before the second fight begins. When he sees Johnny Sun, he is genuinely scared that he might get crippled again. Despite his confident display to his wife, he knows how high the stakes are this time. His career and possibly his life are on the line. When he gets hurt and screams, that's his self-belief and determination powering him through his hardships.
As soon as he gets kicked in back he stops playing with him n fucks him up
Bullshit. Bruce wanted to rip him a new one.
You are so wrong. He wasn't afraid of Sun. That chicken shit Sun lost easily in their first fight. He only crippled Lee with a cheap shot. Lee knew he won this fight from the beginning. There was never an fear there.
You two forgot that this isn’t an accurate representation of Bruce’s life
You should watch his eyes clearly. His eyes turn red after seeing Sun and you know why.
8:43 the way his expression changes from agonizing in pain to utter fury! i love that scene ,it's just f@#$ing EPIC!
My favorite part of the whole scene
I got that scene totally because when I was a young man and played sports at a high level I suffered injuries constantly like our young human bodies do. One day playing basketball I got hit in the back hard rebounding the ball by someone, I could barely walk. But I got angry like Jason Scott Lee just showed and didn't scream like him, but the anger inside of me just forced me to start walking and running again. And this happened before this movie came out, this is just a great scene for me. Also, to see Robert Wagner's reaction was priceless.
Although the production is exaggerated, it is true that he fought a duel with a martial artist named Wong Jack Man.
However, during this battle, Lee keenly realized that the martial arts he had learned from Ip Man were outdated and not suitable for actual combat.
In other words, it seems like it was quite a struggle.
This fight was a turning point, and he began exploring and researching Jeet Kune Do, a martial arts technique that aims to defeat opponents within six seconds.
Jeet Kune Do is generally thought of as Kung Fu, but this is because it is confused with ``Jun Fan Kung Fu,'' which is the precursor to Jeet Kune Do.
Jeet Kune Do is heavily influenced by fencing and boxing, and is introduced in Japan as an ``American martial art.''
Wish you would have included the stunned reaction of everyone when the clock stopped just before 60 seconds. That was priceless.
Jason Scott Lee thank you for your portrayal of the Legend Bruce Lee...... 💯
I teach who I want, the decision is mine -- Bruce Lee
His wife gave input to this movie, which is why it's as accurate as any movie about Bruce Lee will ever be.Although some ppl,(that were never there) say,it's not 100% accurate, who's to really know? Jason Scott Lee did an amazing job portraying him.I think Bruce would be proud.100 years from now,ppl will still be talking about Bruce,so his legend will never die.
Jason Scott Lee was fantastic in this - a believable Bruce!!
Best actor to ever play Bruce Lee hands down
That do or die expression Jason produces is priceless in that second fight when he's kicked in the back and he's waiting to see if it will give out again or stay strong, then Bruce gives that conquering triumphant cat scream....it was all over for Johnny after that.
Cat screaming be fore releasing a poker or deadly blow ads coordination in accordance of your immotion , anger or releasing chi energy at the fraction of seconds before contact. It is a very crispy devastating blow ...
@@josiphineomallao7931 wow, I never thought of that before. I always thought he did that for effect. Appreciate the insight.
Anyone who’s faced a serious injury knows exactly what he was feeling in that moment.
2 of the best fight scenes ive seen in a movie
Happy birthday Mr.Bruce Lee 🔥...you Will be Forever in our hearts 🌟💞
Jason Scott Lee KILLED IT AS BRUCE LEE. I really enjoyed this movie despite it's historical and characterization inaccuracies
One of the greatest movies ever with an amazing soundtrack
Also Lauren Holly is smoking hot!
“Don’t go too far, hun. It’ll be over in sixty seconds.”
The perfect " hold my beer "scene. Loved it.
The actor that is portraying the "enemy" is also in Bloodsport! he's also a fighting director/choreographer
Really?? I'm going to look for him the next time I watch. Johnny Sun was a total badass!
The Actor is a famous Hong Kong star after Lee’s death. I saw his classic kung fu movies.
John chang.
Paki wang
This movie showed a great example of Bruce Lee’s “Never take your eyes off your opponent, even when you bow”.
But in this case, even when you defeated your opponent, never take your eyes off them.
Well, that's true but it didn't happen like that.
@@guitarttimman
Yes. Not everything happened here happened in real life. This is for entertainment purpose after all.
@@user-fg9oy3uo3h I know and it's great entertainment. I'm a fan, but I was just remarking that Bruce didn't ever get kicked in the back.
@@guitarttimman
Yes, the real Bruce Lee did not experience that. Like I said, not everything happened here happened to the real Bruce Lee.
Which I stated, it’s for entertainment purpose. In this case, the rule of drama.
@@user-fg9oy3uo3h Well, respectfully, Bruce did fight a Thai boxer and win.
Bruce Lee was a great legend.
I agree.
He's sorely missed.
I mean in my opinion this is one of the better Bruce Lee biopics
There's been very good actors since Mr. Scott Lee. Just to me he will be the best Bruce. His a great actor just he didn't keep acting . I think he would've changed the cinema . God bless Jason and thanks for this Epic acting . 👍👊💪
He's in a fun TV show now about a Hawaiian "Doogie Howser" type girl called Doogie Kamealoha. It's on Disney+. He plays the title character's dad and he does a great job.
He said, "I beat him before!" That's not true, he got beat down bad
He plays the role of Bruce Lee very well, well done Jason Scott Lee
It is so sweet of Linda to be so worried over Bruce's safety.
Love this movie 🎥 R.I.P BRUCE LEE GONNA BUT NOT FORGOTTEN 🕯🙏🏾🙇🏾♂️🕊🐲🐉🤙🏾
Still remember when my mom took me to the theater to watch this. Very underrated movie and I enjoy how they didnt just stick to the facts and most likely went by the locals word of mouth about Bruce Lee.
Brilliant biopic. Really impressionable. Cannot believe it`s almost 30 years old.
Never turn your back on a enemy......ever
Well said my friend you know your stuff 👊
Also never lift too much weight when doing good mornings it damages your sacral nerve.
9:24 His Speed Was Ridiculous 😳🐲👊🏽🔥
Mr. Jason done an excellent tribute to the legend himself.
Must admit, this film never fails to disappoint me with it's plethora of inaccuracies regarding Bruce's life, especially given how available Linda was, but it's still entertaining all the same. Good 90's cinema.
Jason did a great job.
I love the noises Scott Lee makes.. awesome..I had this on laserdisc.
As much as I love most Marvel movies.....I miss regular movies in the Theaters!
Kudos to the guy to play Bruce, a solid performance.
His son.
Jason Scott Lee.
Fh dekgrtehdggjtuy
For the record, Jason Scott Lee is not Bruce Lee's son, and is not related to Bruce Lee.
You could see the fury in his eyes when he took that second kick in his back before he yelled.
I did that once, but I don't like to brag about it.
Hah, imagine after he kicks him out of the ring, it's actually 1:01. The judges are like: "sorry dude, awesome stuff, but it was over a minute, so that makes you a liar!"
He played Bruce Lee really good I love this movie
8:48 that moment when you go Super Sayain
Great movie. I must have seen this 20 times when I was a kid in the 90s.
We all know Bruce Lee life story. Someone please make a Bruce Lee character as a superhero movie.
This fight is based on duel between Bruce and Wong Jack Man.
It wasn’t that dramatic but it is entertaining.
John Chiang (Johnny Sun)did his job as the antagonist very passionate guy in the movie business.
JSL should have been Shiang Chi if it was made in the 90s.
John Chang was an independent Kung Fu movie legend, he'd worked at Shaw Brothers for many years. He's prominent in Executioners From Shaolin, 36th Chamber of Shaolin and Shaolin Mantis under the direction of the legendary Lau Kar Leung. He starred in several awesome Indie Fu flicks including Snake In The Monkey's Shadow, Writing Kung Fu & Two Wondrous Tigers. He did a fine job on action director on this film (given Hollywood restrictions) and was pinned at one point to action direct The Matrix. I love his Southern Fist style warm up here, it's a nice throwback to old school Fu flicks and is an accurate reflection of how Bruce rebelled against rigid traditionalism IRL. Note how much John Chang looks like Shang Chi as depicted in the original comics.
He also worked with Jackie Chan in project a series as well bloodsport.
I remember him in Bloodsport. His hair looked very different.
Yep, so did his younger brother, Johnny (amazing stuntman who doubled for Jackie for many vehicular stunts)@@ninjavigilante5311
Obviously this movie is heavily dramatised and not an accurate reflection of what happened in real life. That being said, the delivery of that line “I’ll beat any man in the room in 60 seconds!” That was awesome. Then telling his wife not to go far, it will be over in 60 seconds. Epic
What's so epic about it? None of it happened. NONE OF IT. Bruce went to a martial arts tournament and did some demonstrations that wowed the crowd and got him attention that eventually led to bigger things. But he did not fight anyone. Also his back injury happened years after this tournament. There was no Johnny San or his brother. What a waste of time.
@@craigmeiners6262 thanks for reading my comment before putting in your points. Did I not say that is it heavily dramatised and not an accurate reflection of what happened in real life. I’m saying the delivery of the one line in a fiction movie was awesome.
@@craigmeiners6262 you looked at this way too deeply, lol
It was still an entertaining film
@@craigmeiners6262 Don't talk if you CBF doing research. It is clearly documented that Bruce Lee had fights, ESPECIALLY this fight with "johnny sun" (i.e., Wong Jack Man). Jeet Kune Do literally wouldn't exist if this fight did not happen. Now yes the fight in the movie is over-dramatized and the back injury didn't come from a kick, however the event itself did happen.
Bruce Lee king
Classic
Never turn your back on the enemy, even when he's down.
One of my favourite movies and love Bruce Lee. Kung foo!! 👊
Kung fu you mean fight
That guy’s Kata is off the chain. I’ve always loved watching their warmup before the fight.
Bruce was never kicked in the back like that! He did hurt his back, but that was when he was lifting weights with Kareem Abdul Jabbar. He lifted the exact same amount of weight as Kareem but some how he turned his back the wrong way and it damaged his spine. I think it was around 350 lbs.
What deadlift?
@@briandavid3637 I actually read that it was Good Mornings....I don't ever do those they look dangerous!
@@briandavid3637 he was doing good mornings
@@dsvet good movement but dangerous 👍
I read in the book "The Art Of Expressing The Human Body" about that incident. Bruce suffered major back problems until the day he died because of that injury.
I didn't realize until recently that Johnny Sun was played by John Cheung. I was a serious fan of his movies when I was growing up!
was in Shaw Brothers movies ?
Johnny Sun : “ I’ve cheated before…… I’ll cheat again”
"I cheated before. I cheat AGAIN!"
that's not good
hahahahaha
I Lose Before, I will lose Again
LMAO!
I was told they said that the real fight Bruce lee actually chased that guy while he was trying to get away from him. Bruce lee actually beat him so fast.
8:46
Joshua Eldridge: LIONHEART!!!
I was laughing a little bit when the Bruce character stretched before the 1st fight and stretch his muscles and pop his bones, it seems like he hadn't popped his bones in years! LOL the same was true for the movie Return of the Dragon, when Bruce Lee popped his bones before the Chuck Norris fight, it seemed like he hadn't popped his bones in like forever! :-)
One of the best portrayals and biopics of the great one.
What a great movie that was watching growing up, watched it all the time as a kid on the old movie network.
That was an awesome movie and still it is
Jason Scott Lee playing Bruce here did him justice I thought.
Emulated him perfectly
I love Jason's performance in this movie of fiction. But he didn't resemble Bruce in any way. Didn't look like him, Bruce was much leaner. Didn't sound like him at all. I don't know what kind of a voice Jason was going for, but it doesn't even come close to the real Bruce.
Everyone wants to be like Bruce Lee,what does it tell you, Bruce Lee was undefeated on screen and in real life.
@@jakecollins4545 Virtually no male on the planet has 0 wins and 0 losses, it's near impossible to avoid fighting at some point as a male. So your statement is false. Now if we include only "important" fights than Bruce is about 2 wins and 0 losses with the evidence we have.
“RIGHT ON!!” Lmfaoooo
best bruce lee actor EVER he deserves a emmy or w,e
Lets take a moment to appreciate the physical condition of Jason in this movie.
Squms, Squms,Squms 😂 love this movie 🍿
When I was younger , I was so impressed with JSL martial arts prowess, when I started doing martial arts myself my respect for JSL only increased , but it was my awe of Bruce that took centre stage, his speed, strength and power would never be matched. JSL did a fine job but came nowhere close, but nobody would have been able to.
the second kick in the back put the spine in the right place xD
Lol!!!!!:))))))))))
Great movie. It does a good job at showing just how slow this actor moves in comparison to lee
Wonderful movie...great jason scott lee
Very rewatchable film. Still holds up today 👍
1993 has the best biopics!
A baker’s dozen such as:
Dragon, Tombstone, Schindler’s List, Rudy, Fire in the Sky, Alive, This Boy’s Life, In the Name of the Father, Heaven & Earth, Searching for Bobby Fischer, A Home of Our Own, Shadowlands, What’s Love Got to Do with It?
Me and my dad's favorite movie ever
He could be a brother to Bruce when Bruce was alive. I can imagine them being very similar I mean the two characters you you know so pure. Everyone's acting was superb.
Love the 90s, Thank you
Jason Scott Lee HONORED BRUCE LEE in his role. Much respect!
The best Bruce Lee movie without Bruce Lee! I will always remember this one. Jason Scott Lee....what an amazing actor!
From what I saw, the only reason that Bruce's character was kicked like that in this scene is because he was turned too far to his left when he blocked with his right. This made him vulnerable and didn't give him time to reposition himself. If he was facing more forward or stepped back, even one step, he would have been better able to deal with the kick.
I'm so old that the real Man taught me how to walk away from a fight. And how to take care of things when I couldn't.
The way they marked out for Johnny pulling out his ponytail 😂
Bruce with the nice warm-up.
The funny faces were priceless 🤣🤣
Not bad but I can eat a pizza hut pizza in under 60 seconds. Which is also quite impressive.
What size and how thick? A thin crust personal sized pizza?
I mean the WHOLE Hut?!? 😮
@@jjvega6364 🤣🤣.
The real Bruce Lee would take that guy down in a matter of seconds.
But Bruce Lee always be my favourite martial artist . He was without a doubt the best.
I loved this movie back in the day
Funny how in real life Bruce fought a guy who used northern fist but in the movie the guy is using southern fist. This very cool and entertaining.
R.I.P. Bruce!
Once upon a time in Hollywood was the best depiction of Bruce Lee ever.😁 Brad pitt kicked his ass.
