When a group of drunken British sailors get a bit unruly at the Lantern Festival, they meet their match in the form of Bruce Lee (Jason Scott Lee - no relation).
The people who say this movie was "ok" have no idea what they're talking about. This is a great movie. I remember when it first came out, it was hailed by a few critics as the best picture of the year. So many elements in one movie -- drama, romance, action... Great script. Great score. Great direction. Great casting.
Even though Jason doesn't look like Bruce, he had Bruce's speech, mannerisms, raw power and athleticism down pat and played the part as well as any actor could possibly play it.
2:14...Epic-ness..as Bruce lands on the table after the flip, the song plays: "...soft against my skin, such sweet, sweet remembering...." Or 2:57..when Bruce slips on his shirt with him in it and makes him dance...all while staying on beat with the Hong Kong Cha Cha LOL. LOVE this movie
Yes, except it wasn’t the British branch of the US Navy. It was a rival Chinese youth gang he fought. Lee also didn’t run from the cops, he was shot at by the defeated leader's father.
The movie had a hint of greatness to it but they didn't need to add in the various fakeness. Bruce Lee was a true badass and they could have been true to life with the fighting and even more amazing with that.
@Zain844 the guy he fought in the gym played the farmer in Starship Troopers who took his helmet off during a drill and got his head blew off. He also had his arm broken by Clancy Brown in another training exercise in Starship Troopers.
more trivia, while the green hornet movie was still in the works Jason Scott Lee was one of the casting choices for kato, behind both jet li and stephen chow.
okay..I've been OBSESSED with the Hong Kong Cha Cha since I saw this movie when I was in grade school...do you know where I can download it without having to buy the entire album? I couldn't find it on Itunes. Many thanks for any insight!
I knew there had to be some fiction in the movie. In that era of Hong Kong, it's my guess British sailors had their moments of abuse similar to what the movie shows at the Lantern Festival. I agree Bruce Lee was very real, and he was a great man. He was probably the greatest martial artist in his time.
that is not a whip chain, anyone know what that type of nunchuck is called? it looks like a normal one but with a much longer chain and smaller handles
I'll say this, it's a bad movie. In a good way. I thought it was great because the film is in love with Bruce Lee. I am a huge fan of Lee so that makes it so much fun for me as a viewer. Others didn't appreciate the film because they saw it as a biopic. I saw it as turning a Bruce Lee movie into the story of Bruce Lee's life. Brilliant.
After seeing 2022 movie Elvis , Which western director will shoot new version Bruce Lee biographical film ?I DO hope soon! Bruce Lee is such great legend person who bring “ku fung ” 功夫 into western Hollywood world !He is Chinese pride !
@RookieRevolution Bruce Lee used to carry a chain around with him when he was younger. He was part of a street gang called the Junction 8 Tigers or something to that effect? They weren't really a serious gang, but more a bunch of friends that looked out for each other. He got in regular street fights as a kid up until his late teens, hence his subsequent migration to America to claim citizenship as he was getting into too much trouble in HK.
I'm reading so many people's comments about his fights... Or whether or not he had any... If you don't know quit speculating. I'm pretty sure bruce lee has had some experience in fights in order to understand his own craft.
1. The movie was grossly inaccurate. 2. Bruce didn't make any of those noises when fighting, and only start doing it in the movies when he made Fist Fury. Check him out before then, like The Big Boss, Longstreet, the Green Hornet, Marlowe, etc. He made regular grunts when exerting himself.
MMA has come a long way since Bruce Lee. The Gracie family probably contributed more to MMA than anyone. Not to mention, the top champions right now have wrestling backgrounds.
The Christopher Reeve version. lols! Except believed in himself and actually got to walk again. R.I.P Christopher Reeve. May your research be used to help people in the future.

Even though Jason doesn't look like Bruce, he had Bruce's speech, mannerisms, raw power and athleticism down pat and played the part as well as any actor could possibly play it.
I've seen this movie over 10 times never get bored wathing it again
Bruce Lee was an inspiration to millions - he may be gone but he will never be forgotten.
Yeah, you don't have a statue made after you unless you've done something inspirational.
Ha! The bowling pin sound when he slid those sailors to the ground on their whole ass, haha!
2:14...Epic-ness..as Bruce lands on the table after the flip, the song plays: "...soft against my skin, such sweet, sweet remembering...."
Or 2:57..when Bruce slips on his shirt with him in it and makes him dance...all while staying on beat with the Hong Kong Cha Cha LOL.

No one can never block Bruce..too fast!!!!!!
I cant get enough of this movie...
Did Bruce Lee really do this.
Yes, except it wasn’t the British branch of the US Navy.
It was a rival Chinese youth gang he fought.
Lee also didn’t run from the cops, he was shot at by the defeated leader's father.
Bruce was kicking their ass
The movie had a hint of greatness to it but they didn't need to add in the various fakeness. Bruce Lee was a true badass and they could have been true to life with the fighting and even more amazing with that.
Good movie, one of my favorites... Jason Scott Lee is awesome.
"Thank me later" 😂
@Zain844 the guy he fought in the gym played the farmer in Starship Troopers who took his helmet off during a drill and got his head blew off. He also had his arm broken by Clancy Brown in another training exercise in Starship Troopers.

more trivia, while the green hornet movie was still in the works Jason Scott Lee was one of the casting choices for kato, behind both jet li and stephen chow.
well this was one of the scence that was sort of on point with bruces life ..he was a great dancer
why does bruce lee just randomly carry nun chucks to a formal
to be the best, you have to beat the best... and no one beat Bruce Lee.
3:01 3:02 "Bub bub we say." 😂😁
Nice song.
great film jason scott lee is brillient actor. an has done a good job re on acting the legend bruce lee.
Awesome scene! =)
reminds me so much of the game on the SNES.
The bowling effect is pretty corny but the knife and and numb chucks part is badass
The reason why there was cartoonish sound effects is because of The Way of the Dragon.
@Markus77x7 this one is the best movie about lee's life others are crap!
SHE IS ONE OF MY OWN
okay..I've been OBSESSED with the Hong Kong Cha Cha since I saw this movie when I was in grade school...do you know where I can download it without having to buy the entire album? I couldn't find it on Itunes. Many thanks for any insight!

I knew there had to be some fiction in the movie. In that era of Hong Kong, it's my guess British sailors had their moments of abuse similar to what the movie shows at the Lantern Festival.
I agree Bruce Lee was very real, and he was a great man. He was probably the greatest martial artist in his time.

I agree, Stephen. But that excludes mix martial artist.

Taiwanese-American filmmaker Ang Lee is actually working on a new Bruce Lee biopic right now in 2024.
His own son Mason Lee will portray Bruce Lee.
The place mash up suh! xD

Can't find the full movie on You Tube! Sucks! Guess I'll just have to get it the old fashioned way, lol.
@bowerybaker then where does rainbows come from?
Dish-Washaaaaaaaah!
coisa mais linda que meus olhos ja viram....
Jason Scott Lee is not Bruce Lee's son because Brandon Lee is the only son he ever had before he died
I'm reading so many people's comments about his fights... Or whether or not he had any... If you don't know quit speculating. I'm pretty sure bruce lee has had some experience in fights in order to understand his own craft.
you know damn well how shes gonna thank him later..
that guy that ran away must have felt like such a wimp. He should run right to a Kung Fu school.

この作品は私の大好きな作品です。
ブルースリーは人と戦ってるのではありません。
自分と戦ってきたのです。
Shouldn't he have a tune up fight first? It's been over 40 years.
sailors are aussie??
@Zain844 Exactly.
Trivia
Although they share the same surname, Jason Scott Lee is of no relation to Bruce Lee.
@Zain844 dude its HAWT in Hong Kong! I mean like do you breath the air or eat it with a spoon. But yeah of courser he's oiled up. lol.
MMA has come a long way since Bruce Lee. The Gracie family probably contributed more to MMA than anyone. Not to mention, the top champions right now have wrestling backgrounds.
He invented mma.
@Zain844 Yeah they do reseble one another a little bit lol.
The Christopher Reeve version. lols! Except believed in himself and actually got to walk again. R.I.P Christopher Reeve. May your research be used to help people in the future.
Is IP man in china during this timeline???
@Zain844 Yeah but who never got their ass kicked in this movie lol? You could say the demon but he conquered him at the end lol.
