what I've always admired about Daron's performances, is that he can go crazy and spin and dance and run around, but still play those riffs so precisely at the same time. It's amazing.
I'm not the biggest System of a Down fan, but I must admit: they're one of the very few bands that don't have a single bad song. When I'm in the SOAD mood, I'd listen to their entire discography in one go!
i have bands i like more (not by a lot and not many) but i agree.... their ratio of good songs to total songs is ASTRONOMICALLY high... i don't know if anyone comes close to it, honestly.... like i love korn, but after 4 albums the rest is trash, nirvana nevermind/in utero is magical but they have plenty of songs i literally can't get through.... metallica - goats.. plenty of skipable tracks....deftones, tool... etc soad is prodigious and it's astonishing too when you consider how basic a guitar player daron is.... it's magic
@@notimportant3686 There are only 2 bands to my knowledge that doesn't have bad songs, SOAD and Rammstein. And to my knowledge they're not even close to my favourite bands, sure they're the bands I listen to the most, but that's perhaps because they're the bands where you can just start a playlist of their whole discography and just zone out. I like the whole rock genre, but of all Jazz descendants I'm more of a Swing kind a guy, and even in rock music SOAD and RAMMSTEIN aren't my favs, that would be Finntroll, Korpiklaani, Avatar and Alestorm. And to be honest, I rather listen to A Flock of Seagulls than rock most days. 80s pop may be pure shit but it's what I grew up on.
Instead of having bad songs, you have songs that you prefer, but no avoid. Same can go for albums (and can change) ex: I didn't like System Of a Down (self titled) or Steal This Album, that quickly changed in a week
Shavo is one of my favorite bassist's, not because of his ability but just the energy he puts out at shows. I remember seeing them at ozzfest and he stole my attention.
@@Idontknowyou05 John isn't unnoticed, he is actually accurately praised for his godly drumming skills. Maybe he doesn't put a "show" live but that's that much of a show a drummer can put, except pure skill
@@EnxhioKotoni He definitely isn't forgotten but I still find him more overshadowed by Serj and Doren and think he deserves a bit more compared to the others
There's a great show of Static X performing in ozzfest '99 where they had shavo on for their "I'm with stupid" track, he plays the guitar with the same energy.
ya dude I saw them at the Verizon Center in Manchvegas, New Hampshire, and one of the spotlights happened to land on either Daron's or Shavo's guitar/base, right onto shiny AF metal, and it reflected perfectly like a big lazer into the audience. He started shining it purposefully to people up in the balcony where we were. One guy said "it's like being touched by the hand of GOD!" Great show! 🤘😬🤘
Love System! And I love watching Daron, he's so expressive yet I know people find him odd, I just absolutely love and appreciate everything that he does, he's so unique.
Every single song that System of a down has ever made is gold. Other bands have a couple of songs on each album that are good and the others are me but system has 0 bad songs. Every single one is incredible. That's why they're my favorite band of all time. I love them so much.
I love deep diving into SOAD alongside you! I was passingly familiar with them for a long time and knew some of their big hits because of my friends, but I just recently started devouring as much of their stuff as I can. I love hearing your interpretations of these songs 🤙
Great reaction. Yes that Guitar solo should go down in history, as Daron (the guitarist) is not known for doing Guitar solos, he himself said he doesn't need to do all the crazy stuff and have a guitar solo in every song, he wants to do what he wants to do and not follow other people, so Daron rarely does Guitar solos which is why the Psycho solo is legendary. Especially live the solo goes longer and Serj accompanies Daron on the Keyboard which just sounds beautiful. you can either just go on with stuff on the Toxicity album or maybe you wanna check out B.Y.O.B. its one of their most famous songs from a later album. If you go on with Toxicity songs I would suggest Prison Song. If you wanna hear B.Y.O.B. (Bring your own Bombs) then this link is the perfect live performance ruclips.net/video/w00v2zVkX9g/видео.html Looking forward to your SOAD reactions every day its very fun. And respect for doing so many reactions a day in general.
I mean, on a technical level, he played that solo like absolute garbage in this performance. I really don't like SOAD live. They have an entertaining stage presence, but it's at the cost of the music sounding pretty terrible compared to their studio tracks. Daron played so many notes wrong throughout the entire song and some parts just stopped playing completely. I'm going to blame it on heavy drug and alcohol use because he's always been a druggie. I'd say I'm a fan of their music, but live... eh. Really it's just Daron that sounds bad live but he's the one and only guitar player so it stands out.
@@TheJokesterSCR Sorry RUclips has never notified me on your response comment. Yea I see your perspective, I agree they have an entertaining stage presence which is unique to them, and about the sloppiness, yes that's also very true, unlike a band like for example Queen, System of a Down is not really a live band and their studio songs sound better. But its not like every band has to be perfect, I can only accept the sloppiness of soad because its raw and you can still headbang to it. What I dislike nowadays is that Daron's guitar doesn't sound as heavy as it used to sound but at least he plays better nowadays. But then there is Serj who decides to not scream as much as he used to or at least add grit to his Voice, it destroys the heaviness you could headbang to and everything. They were never a live band but I definitely prefer their younger days since it kinda reminds me of the Attitude Era of WWE which was just real and Raw and so on.
SOAD - Spiders is a personal favourite or another band you might enjoy is Wolfmother - tales of the gnome forest/joker and the thief two my favs. Lead singer andrew has sung with slash also.
Dude, I saw these guys live in Baltimore, Maryland back in 2000 when they opened for Metallica and it was amazing!!! Best concert EVER. Summer Sanitarium tour.
Loving this journey with you . Been listening to them again more. I seen them live in ‘98 (I think) they were on tour with Sepultura and Slayer. You could see the greatness then already. Brilliant band , so cleverly done .
Yes sir it’s a rare album. Front to back doesn’t happen often in any genre. So skips and no wasted space in any track. Jammed packed hall of fame stuff
Dude I've been loving your channel I found it just by looking up reactions of songs are already loved and your reactions to the songs are so good and then also looking for like the meaning in the lyrics love it. Love your reaction at the end there you go you went psycho
The idea I always got from this, and my limited experience performing, the groupies do this for one night and have their fun, but they expect performers to party too, so they do it every night, get addicted and end up in a vicious cycle of meeting expectations. Plus all the other stresses with touring as well.
Tentative is a really good one, it's one of my favorites. Lonely Day, Ego Brain, Roulette and Lost in Hollywood are also great.... damn honestly pretty much anything on Toxicity, Steal This Album, Mezmerize and Hypnotize are a good listen. it's cool to see that you're enjoying SOAD hopefully you enjoy the rest es much as the rest of us here do
LOL I haven't been on in a while. But I'm so stoked to see you're into these guys! They are amazing. I love how you handle this though. Drug addicts are just human beings
Commenting for the algorithm and so that I see a reaction to another SOAD song every time I check this YT channel lmao. 95-98% of the catalog is straight fire.
The studio version of the solo is layered and it's absolutely beautiful. Most underrated song in their discography (along with Forest) and one of my personal favorites. I wonder if the references to addiction and heavy drug use is symbolic of being addicted to being on the road/lifestyle. Usually symbolism is used to describe drug use (Tom Petty is masterful at this) and i would not put it past SOAD to symbolically describe road life by referencing drugs. I dont think any member of the band has an IQ lower than 130 and probably more like the 140-150 range.
