I saw an interview, don't recall if it was Serj or Daron, and he said he has a grandfather was in well in his 90's or 100's and has some form of dementia. He said he frequently writes lyrics that sound as random as the words from the addled mind of a demented person. @Beasty bunch of capital letters strung together. You use the first letter of each word (reason for capitalization) to make a new word. Those words are mostly missing vowels. The song title is all misplaced vowels hmm curious.
The name IEAIAIO has no meaning. People are gonna try and tell you they’re the vowels to “idealization” but Serj himself (lyricist and lead vocalist) said that it has no meaning. It was just a place holder while he thought of lyrics to the chorus but the band liked that so that’s what they went with. They said it sounded like a soccer chant and at the beginning of this live you see why.
When artists give a coded message, they usually say things like "it has no meaning" or "they're just random words" Because the message is coded for a reason. They want people to think by themselves. If they say that it's coded and what it means, then it defeats the purpose. It like "the paradox of asking a masked man who he is"

As with many System of a Down songs, there are supposed double meanings. For this song, some of the possible meanings are a journalist digging up dirt on a politician, and the western world's obsession with gadgets and trinkets (plutonium wedding rings). The "Meeting John Dale's Jr" lyric is a reference to one of them meeting a celebrity at a mini mart who gave a wink and a point on his way out the door to one of the band mates Idk how it connects to anything else in the song
Great reaction as per usual. Love how you analyse the lyrics, since not many other reactors do it to such a level. System of a down are great and were the part of the soundtrack to my life, amongst many other bands during my late teens/early 20's. I'm not able to give to your patron but have suggestions that you may or may not want to follow up (up to you). Also since I o ly came across your channel a month or so ago I may suggest stuff that you've already done that I just happened to miss, if so I apologise in advance. I think you'd enjoy some perfect circle (mer de noms album). Tool Is another great band. Boysetsfire - after the eulogy. Thursday - full collapse. Thrice - beggars (although this is one of many albums and not their earliest style) Hot water music - they have 13 or more albums. Some of these bands have a lot less live footage than system of a down so may not be completely suited to your reaction to live music which you follow up by personality listening to full studio recorded albums. Oh, and how was it playing the butler in fresh Prince of bel-air? 😉
Don't think too hard on this one. It's just a bunch of tongue twisters and a few Knight Rider references. There's a story from the drummer about how he met David Hasselhoff as a kid once at a store called Dale Jr's. He called out out to him and Hasselhoff gave him the finger guns and winked at him. That's the only bit I know of that's certain.
You gotta react to Radio/video by them but the studio version! You’ll know why lol I’m sure everyone wants you to react to this specific song’s studio version. Great reaction again!
This is one of my favorite system songs. It's great live. So much fun. Yes you'll need lyrics lol. Try their live cover of Snowblind( by Black Sabbath) in their show in Denver in 2000. Also they do a version of Shame with the the Wu Tang Clan. Amazing
I'm watching your videos for maybe a week now. Not everything, but whatever touching to metal. I enjoy your analysis on RATM, Metallica, SOAD, Slipknot, Tool, and I can't wait to see you with weird titles like Hurricane from 30 seconds to mars (but it's possible you have difficulties to play the music video on your chan, considering how it got banned from everywhere), or few NiN, or Tool's masterpieces from previous albums. It's weird but lately (these last months) I really enjoy to watch vocalists, singers, hip hop peeps even, watching, hearing metal for first time, and discovering a whole new world. And you are right now the one going the deepest, understanding meanings and subtilties before the end of the song. We have the perfect example here, with you saying at first it's a trash song with no meaning, to fill albums you know, and to, at a point, get that punch in your face and realize. I am also a lot after the meaning(s) of the songs, and I tend to check on reddit or SongMeanings. Some theories are quite weird, but some others are quite accurate, taking in account band history. Deftones or Glassjaw have a few cryptic songs with multiple meanings, so you still have plenty of hours of youtube videos in front of you :) Good job, please continue that way :)
The pronunciation of the title also sort of sounds like a native american chant or the approximation thereof. Also sometimes singers will say something means nothing when in fact it does.
i would also check out Serj Tankian's documentaries, he has been an activist forever and has some great stuff on the Armenian genocide that really needs to become more known
I also think this song is just random and fun. A way to show off how he can memorize and speak rapid tongue twisters. Then, of course the coding in the middle. :)
You have great reactions.) You're awesome.))) You can't help but be interested in the creativity of young and super-talented performers. In particular, the young stunning singer from Russia Diana Ankudinova. The unique voice and artistry are shocking. Please react to Diana Ankudinova.
In my experience (around 20 years listening to System and owning all their albums) what I can say is that about half their songs are about deep political issues like government corruption, anti-imperialism and the Armenian Genocide, and the other half seems to be complete nonsense somebody wrote while blitzed out of their mind Update: after finishing this video, I looked into it and went down a bit of a rabbit hole. Apparently this song was first written when the band met David Hasselhoff (thus the Knight Rider connection), and was featured on the album "Toxicity II" (which would later be reworked into "Steal this album"). In fact, the lyrics "As we light up the sky" were originally "On the 4th of July". The title is actually the vowels of the words "Idealization", "Illegalization", "Liberalization", and "Illegal migration", and the tune in which they're sung is based on a chant used by Aleistor Crowley with his disciples, during which he would occasionally replace it with the words "Old McDonald had a farm" to see who was listening. As for the "code" in the "mind delusions acquainted" part, I saw several people in the comments come to the same conclusion i did, where it says "Media back-end power is bullshit opposed for for benefit of propaganda"

Broken down:
Mainstream Media is a power industry controlled by the old f*cks at the top 1% that is just feeding us bullshit to make us focus on anything but what's really going on around us. Making our minds nothing more than a computer network they can control to feed bullsh*t information with each other and fight over, resulting in fights or even war... We light up the sky. (and in the original Toxicity album the lyrics were changed from "WHY!? On the fourth of July."
The "Meeting John Dale's Jr" lyric is a reference to one of them meeting a celebrity at a mini mart who gave a wink and a point on his way out the door to one of the band mates
Idk how it connects to anything else in the song
That celebrity was David Hasselhoff, Knight Rider himself
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE- KNOW YOUR ENEMY!!
2nded
This
Amazing man. Jist amazing
Thrice - beggars (although this is one of many albums and not their earliest style)
Hot water music - they have 13 or more albums.
Some of these bands have a lot less live footage than system of a down so may not be completely suited to your reaction to live music which you follow up by personality listening to full studio recorded albums.
Oh, and how was it playing the butler in fresh Prince of bel-air? 😉
I would love to see more people react to Thursday. Geoff is a damn poet.
The song was originally going to be called KITT
ieaiaio are the vowels in idealization, it means to idealize everything.
U-Fig from System of a Down has amazing lyrics, should react to it
You gotta react to Radio/video by them but the studio version! You’ll know why lol I’m sure everyone wants you to react to this specific song’s studio version. Great reaction again!
This was an absolute delight to watch
Not many people get the Knight Rider reference before the guitar riff, nice
System of a Down - soldier side
I was waiting for you to get to this one.
“Knight rider”, I can’t believe you got it.
It was kinda funny watching this after having watched your reaction to Weird Al's Foil.
you rock
I would love to see them Metallica and Rammstein preform live
Yoyoyo this my first vid of yours im currently watching...soad fans unite🤘
Every song doesn't always have 2 mean something
Great job man.
Pretty sure this song is about the 4th July, as we light up the sky on the 4th of July!
I really like your older videos like this! You were not so censored and seemed more like who you are.
It is a vocal warm up made into a song by SOAD
Could you please react to Serj Tankian's "Lie Lie Lie" live version?
Omg this would be such a good reaction. 👍
ooh yesss the opera
This is one of my favorite system songs. It's great live. So much fun. Yes you'll need lyrics lol. Try their live cover of Snowblind( by Black Sabbath) in their show in Denver in 2000. Also they do a version of Shame with the the Wu Tang Clan. Amazing
This album was a bit of a weird one. I almost died listening to it so it holds a special place in meh heart.
How did you almost die to it?
You heard a decrypted message after 1 time listening. I've been listening to this over 20 years and never thought about it wtf.
Great video
It is so awesome being able to watch your mind work…k.3.EP:1t:)UP;)
IEAIAIO - This is the sound of a police car siren.
Mr Jack definitely
Deftones or Glassjaw have a few cryptic songs with multiple meanings, so you still have plenty of hours of youtube videos in front of you :)
Good job, please continue that way :)
These are the vowels in the words:
Idealization, Illegalization, Liberalization, Internalization and ‘illegal migration.’
The pronunciation of the title also sort of sounds like a native american chant or the approximation thereof. Also sometimes singers will say something means nothing when in fact it does.
BOTTLENECK "STILL RIDIN" Pleeeeaaasssseeee!!!!😂
Good shit🤘🏼
Whenever I don't understand a SOAD lyric I just guess: *America Bad*
Serj has got to reveal the secrets at some point. Please Serj
Ptboa is powers that be over all
i would also check out Serj Tankian's documentaries, he has been an activist forever and has some great stuff on the Armenian genocide that really needs to become more known
I also think this song is just random and fun. A way to show off how he can memorize and speak rapid tongue twisters. Then, of course the coding in the middle. :)
You have quite the radio voice, my man.
God damn man. We got Sherlock Holmes over here.
appearently its the vowals from idealization ieaiaio
You have great reactions.) You're awesome.))) You can't help but be interested in the creativity of young and super-talented performers. In particular, the young stunning singer from Russia Diana Ankudinova. The unique voice and artistry are shocking. Please react to Diana Ankudinova.
In my experience (around 20 years listening to System and owning all their albums) what I can say is that about half their songs are about deep political issues like government corruption, anti-imperialism and the Armenian Genocide, and the other half seems to be complete nonsense somebody wrote while blitzed out of their mind
Update: after finishing this video, I looked into it and went down a bit of a rabbit hole.
Hello! Thank you for the video! Please pay attention to the young singer Diana Ankudinova.Make reactions to the songs of Wicked game, Human🌞🌞🌞DIANA ANKUDINOVA is a talented young singer. Mostly these are all vocal practices.
Vowel sounds mainly.
I E A O.. are sounds you practice as a vocalist.
A PPA is a power purchase agreement (not sure if it's the same PPA)
A E I O U and sometimes WHY!!!!
Stevie Ray Vaughan Voodoo Child live in Nashville. He's the G.O.A.T.!!! when you can play Jimi behind your back with your eyes closed, you are on a whole different level. you gotta do it!
Love SOAD but this album (Steal This Album has some absolute gems on it. The last 4 songs are all great.
EgoBrain
ThetaWaves
Roulette
Streamline.
I think you would particularly like the lyrics to Ego Brain and Thetawaves.
Love your reacts. Def my favorite one hands down.
I-E-A-I-A-I-O are the vowels inside the word I-D-E-A-L-I-Z-A-T-I-O-N, as well as I-L-L-E-G-A-L-I-Z-A-T-I-O-N, L-I-B-E-R-A-L-I-Z-A-T-I-O-N, I-N-T-E-R-N-A-L-I-Z-A-T-I-O-N, and I-L-L-E-G-A-L M-I-G-R-A-T-I-O-N

"ONE FLAG, FLAGGY BUT ONE"... He's saying we all live in one nation yet we are divided with things like White Pride, Black Pride, Irish Pride, Mexican Pride, so on and so forth... They have a shit load of fans because their music is great, but the die-hards understand the meaning behind the songs...well for the most part.
Holy shit?!?
Amazing
I always thought this song was to be hard to sing, like a tongue twister.
It’s benefit for ppa political parties of America
