Salutations Cliff! Nice maiden flight of the Guillow’s Spitfire! Another successful project! Happy building and flying! Thank you for sharing and posting these videos! Please have an excellent and awesome day! ☀️✨✈️
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes Man, I was drunk when I wrote that. Your Guillows Spitfire looks and flies beautiful....but it wasn't really logical to mention the Special Air Service. We call booze "stupid juice" for a good reason. HaHa!!
Sweet model! Great job, thanks for posting! If they had these electric systems when I was building the guillows models as a kid, I'd have put them in as well. Now, I just build foam board planes from flite test site designs. Much quicker builds, especially after crash - less time invested in a model that doesn't survive.
Hi Ray, thanks, we have the Space Programme to thank for the miniaturisation that we enjoy so much today. Foam board planes are great but I enjoy the build process as much as flying, if they get broken I enjoy the repair process as well 😁👍
Wonderful build and nice maiden man! Just a thought/question - is that the main field you will fly her at or do you plan on ROG at some other place? If its the grass there 100% of the time maybe make the gear removeable. Also she looks like she could use a tad more nose weight. cheers
Hi Steve, I take your point about the gear, it's sewn onto the main spar so my only option at this stage is to cut it off, I don't think I've ever flown off of a hard surface so I may as well, as for nose weight, well maybe, I'll just drop a heavier flight battery in, thanks for watching and commenting, cheers
Looks absolutely at home patrolling the skies where she belongs! Didn't look like it wanted to come down there at the end lol. Enjoyed the cinematic music as well. Well done Cliff!
Thanks Miura, she did look good against the typical English backdrop, the music reminded me of the track that was used in the Battle of Britain movie when they were dog fighting. Now I'm wondering if she would make a good Slope soarer? 🤔
Well you have made it a feasible proposition Cliff the Guillows Spitfire has a new lease of life with micro radio,I have one of these to build as well and it will be suitably converted as yours, where did you get that brown base tissue to do the camouflage please ?
Hi Angel, I've had the dark brown tissue tucked away for years so goodness only knows where it came from, a quick internet search turned up a supplier here in he UK that sells different colours, I don't know where you are on the globe but you could give this one a try or have a look in your country, anyway here's the link: stevewebb.co.uk/index.php?area=covering&type=TISSUE&title=Tissue+Covering+for+Model+Aircraft 👍
Knowing how difficult it is to build those Guillow kits as well as you built this Spitfire: much respect. But, I will keep mine safely suspended by thread from the ceiling of my cave workshop...
Gracias Jorge, me gusta el Hurricane, lo pondré en mi lista de construcción. La música me recordó a la música de la escena de la pelea de perros de la Batalla de Gran Bretaña 👍
Fantastic Cliff, you said in the video that she didn't really want to perform a roll, maybe a barrel roll, is that due to the amount of throw in the ailerons? For a first flight that was piggin marvellous, keep it up. 👍
Thanks Gary, I think she'll probably roll with a bit more effort on my part, yes more throw would certainly help but she turns on a sixpence (small out of circulation British coin in case you don't know 🙂) so there may be potential with a bit more speed etc 👍
My Dear Sir, I know what a tanner is 😁, florins, half crowns, guineas, threepence pocket money a week (about 1 1/2p in the new money) 🤣, really looking forward to the what I call your upscaled motor glider, that is some nice piece of kit, thankyou for all your effort and experience.

Congratulations, Cliff! You gave me quite a start with those not-yet-trimmed ailerons at the first take off, but that's part of the thrill. I happen to have re-maidened my bi-plane yesterday after two weekends' worth of repairs. So I can feel my thumbs itching to take over while watching your video. As a matter of fact, I'm heading out right now to do some banner towing. Your Spitfire is really a fine piece of modelling. If I may: what sort of material are you using for the cover? It looks like some sort of paper. Would you recommend using it on bigger planes, say glider in the 3 m wingspan range? Thanks and cheers, Frédéric
Hi Frederic, thanks, maidens are exciting for sure, I wouldn't recommend putting tissue on a large model these days, once upon a time that's all we had but it's vulnerable to damage by twigs etc and a lot more work, I'd stick with iron on coverings 👍
Well Cliff Wind coming up from the bottom! Better a empty house than a bad tenent I say. All puns aside What a ripper didn't see any sign of tip stall either I take it you have generous amounts of wash out (might be why she isn't rolling for you) You do have wash out?
Fantastic Cliff! What an absolute joy! Well done! (I've recently built the FliteTest Spitfire...a lovely thing...see my video). Btw have you much motor/thrust angle on her?
Don't really need those landing gear on there. Plus it will look more authentic while flying without them (Battle of Britain dog fighting). I'd trade the landing gear for a new spinner. Otherwise, "Bloody good show!"

Hi Tully, what a great way to rehab, take care 🙂👍
Wonderful! I made that kit as a kid in the '70's, but I had rubber band power, of course. Great electric conversion! :)
It was a most enjoyable build which started off as free flight rubber and just evolved over the course of a year 👍
