Cliff, your channel is the kind of stuff that makes me still able to see the good in the internet despite all the horribly twisted stuff that has also has come with it. I don't want to tell what the first thing I was shown on the internet LOL I mean how cool is that I'm getting a whole new side of the hobby from a guy across the pond. Think of that?!? And u got that honest to God, look of joy when u fly. I know that look. I get it too! now I got to ask, is it true you a lot of british think of or call all Americans Yankees? I watched this documentary tonight and I got a kick out of it. But ok Google was no help fact checking this so I thought I kinda know a guy in round about way from that neck of the woods. I'll ask him? 🙂
Great project Cliff. I enjoyed the transformations and appreciated seeing your solutions to the problems presented. I had not seen anyone use sockets for weights. I can now put my two Whitworth sockets back to good purpose. Thank you.
Yes same with the TaylorCraft, it just won't end, but two more "update" videos, then I'll be shutting the camera down, lights out, that will be about it for me I think..
This will probably surprise you Cliff...seeing as I'm a Yank, but the Spitfire is my favorite plane of all time. No shape in aviation prettier. Nice compilation.
No, I'm not surprised Adam, mine as well, one flew over a couple of weeks ago on its way to a display. I still run outside and shout 'Spitfire, Spitfire' but the neighbours are very understanding.😀 It was a fun model from start to finish Adam, I like to get my money's worth 👍
That's so funny Cliff...to this day regardless of what it may be if a plane flies over I stop what I'm doing and look, and if its cool I point out what it is to anybody within earshot. People look at you funny if you do that in a Wal - Mart parking lot...
@@ModelAV8RChannel I'm 63 and I still do that. Maybe I still can't believe the miracle of flight. I fly RC and grew up seeing lots of other people crash RC spitfire models. I now want to build a Spitfire as a Guillows kit. It looks fun.
Beautiful airplane, you've done it well, Cliff. I've seen several fly at Warbirds over Wanaka with pilots Mark and Ray Hanna dogfighting a 109. Yet to build my own but I'm committed to a Guillows Hawker Hurricane in the short term.
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes Of course, the fabulous one flight to oblivion model. BTW please do something about the weather over there... there's an important test match to get started.
Nice to see your channel growing , great builds as always . Love seeing thought process then turned into reality . I just wonder maybe you could build a electric powered RC Cardinal great vintage free flight aircraft .
Hi Vaughan, thank you, the Cardinal is a pretty little plane but it's the old problem of too many planes and not enough time 😕, but funnily enough I have acquired the wing from an old Veron Cessna that's slowly making it's way up the build list 🙂
That's a great question Terry, well, I have a VMC kit on the shelf, another MinimumRC kit on the way and plans for a scale foamboard model plus plans for a simple introduction to rotary flying which has been waiting the longest 🤔
Hi Cliff! I just discovered a way to decal the green camelflaege or any other color by cutting out the pattern off the plans after tracing the pattern onto tissue paper. Then turn it backwards on a sheet of wax paper. Then spreed on some Elmiers blue gell glue onto the tissue paper. The glue keeps it on the wax paper. Turn the wax paper around and place it on the posistion where the colored tissue paper decal goes and apply it on like a water transfer decal. Carefully pull way the wax paper and work out the wrinkels and air bubbles. Done! When it dries it becomes very tight and smooth. Love your Spitfire videos! Fly high or crash and burn!
That's a great tip Richard, we don't have Elmers but I'm guessing watered down white glue would work as well, I'll give it a go. Blue skies and light winds or what you said 😁👍
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes No, don't water down the glue. The tissue paper will rip apart. You need a gell glue. The gell glue doesn't rip the tissue paper. Check out this video Yogenh, you'll see it some more, it's just a simple pair of clamps with vertical bars to hold the fin while it dries ruclips.net/video/wVjlgWsVzJs/видео.html 👍
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes thanks that is great and easy to make l never thought of something like that!!!!! I watched it and that was great you come up with such good things!!!!
Low-wing RC models should have ailerons, can omit rudder and fly yank & bank style. Adding right and down-thrust motor angle can help counter torque roll and spiral airflow effects on vertical stabilizer.
Hi Gary, yes, I agree but as the model only had a moveable rudder and elevator from its free-flight days, plus a fair amount of dihedral, I thought it would be worth a shot 👍
Really enjoyed following the transition. I meant to ask...did the final aileron version still need correcting from that pull to the left? Just wondered if you added any thrust angle? Thoroughly enjoyed that! Cheers
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanesCliff, What is the little camera you use called? I bought one of those little cube ones but it was a copy (and does not work correctly). I don't want to make that mistake again 🙄 Cheers

Thanks Richard, those Whitworth's don't see much use these days, for a little more weight you can put smaller sockets inside the bigger sockets 👍
Great summary! Incredible how one model can evolve and bring so much joy. I am sure we are all wondering what the future of the spitfire will be ...
I think I'll probably just fly it DC 😁😁
Great journey of a few sticks and paper into a great flying Spitfire, quite the evolution, evolution? The Guillow's Spitfire Evolution, Jeff in LA USA
