@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes I build a guillows kit from time to time just to take me back. I never had much luck geting them to fly. Its been a while I really need to do one and focus on trimming some weight.
@@garrygilbert4635 The designs are good but the construction is a bit over the top, there's lots of wood that can be safely removed. Then comes the issue of the rubber motor and prop, they are a long way from efficient but unfortunately I have to use the stock propeller for the duration competition rules. If she flies for ten seconds I'll consider the project a success, I'm really feeling my way as I go 🤔
G'day to you too, we actually reached 20C today, lovely, Summer's coming for us 🙂 I'm a big fan of banded on wings, they just give enough to save damage.
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes have you ever tried the Dumas balsa kits. They have a lot of choices in small biplanes. A man of your calibre would have no problem converting them to RC. I have made a few and they come with coloured tissue paper.
Finally sat down to watch episode 5. That was a fiddle but well worth the effort and will add to the finished model. Cliff, I notice your style of video presentation is moving on too - nicely done.

Hi WS, no l haven't, and to be honest they would be a devil to make because you've got compound curves going in all directions, thanks for the idea though 🙂👍
The fairings are not easy huh? I have ruined one set already and just cut my 2nd set of templates. Plus I keep breaking stringers every time I handle the fuselage - haha. Still having fun though and this video is really helping. Thanks Cliff.
Hi Rod, glad it's helping, the fairings make the model of course so, tempting as it is to leave them off, it's not an option! Regarding the stringers breaking if the wood is a little on the soft side you can always apply some superglue over them before you tissue to stiffen them up a bit 👍
The fairings are on the plan Irwin, in fact you can see them in shot at 10:06, I've added the piece against the wing to allow for removal, I was surprised just how strong they are, you would think they were made of thin ply!
Looks fantastic!!!
Thanks Philip, they came out well 🙂👍
Love the video Cliff thanks. It’s takes me back to the 60s went I started modelling free flight stay safe.George in Stoke 👍
Thanks George, but for me it was the 70s!
Really interesting fairing and wing attach stuff going on there Cliff.
Thanks David, it's an interesting build 👍
She's coming along great Cliff👍
Thanks CK, the next video is covering with tissue so she'll look more like a Spitfire 🙂
@@CliffHarveyRCPlanes looking forward to it👍
I might give this a go Cliff. At least I have ideas. Thanks buddy. 🫡
Nothing to lose except your sanity 👍🤔
She coming along nicely.
Thanks Garry, I am enjoying the build, especially for its simplicity 🙂

Very nice cliff. Thank you.
Thank you for commenting Stephen 🙂
Great stuff Cliff. Nice work on the wing flutes.
PS. Love that Lidl set. Will have to get myself one of those.
As always with Lidl the stock comes and goes but it's made by 'Parkside', I don't know if they supply just Lidl's?
Looking good! She’s gonna be the sharpest in the competition and blow the rest out of the water with that 4 min flight! 109’s beware
Ha ha, if only wing fairings got flight time points 😁
G'day from very cold Australia. The removable wing is a great idea 👍

@@jonjepson3650 I've heard of Dumas but I'm still new at this game but I'll take a look, thanks for the idea.
Wow Cliff looking great, you have real building skills, Jeff in LA USA
Thanks for the compliment but it's only one joint at a time!
Interesting idea Cliff, with a successful execution. Well Done Mate.
Thank you Dwain, I couldn't think of any other way to accomplish it 🙂 You made a pretty good job of the fairings on the KK Spit as well.
Excellent, really starting to take shape, its a great build
Thanks Mark, the Spitfire is always a pleasure to work on 🙂

Moving on to what though Carl? 😁 Thanks for your comment, I enjoy a fiddly bit occasionally it makes the end result worth it even more 🤔

Hi Cliff could you give the brand of the grinding polishing disc box kit? Very usefull thought< Thank's
Hi, the brand is Parkside from Lidl, cheers

Well done! And very clever solution. Are the fairings shown on the plans or your modification?
