    Helpful video, thanks! Does "Trend research" mean copy someones good idea that's selling, but tweak it so "it's yours"? Not sure I love this strat for a number of reasons. Probably because I'm a designer lol

    • @brenondopp
      @brenondopp  Год назад +1

      Hi Christian! I apologize if my stance on this was not clear in the video. I think there is definitely a huge difference between inspiration and plagiarism. I think it's possible to do trend research to create designs that aren't copying someone else's, but sadly, a lot of people will just take others' designs, tweak them slightly, and claim them to be uniquely theirs no matter what I say. I always recommend doing your research to find trending elements and themes such as color palettes, graphics, fonts, phrases that aren't trademarked, etc. and then take what you've found to create your own design based on your research. For example, last year leopard print was extremely popular, so you could take that trending element and apply it to your own niche you are designing for with whatever other popular fonts and graphics are currently trending. As for the example I showed in the video, you could find a similar simple font like the one in the design and make a design with a completely different phrase or color, or you could make a completely different trending design style with the "Dog mom" phrase since it seems to be popular. For me, it's more about finding recurring trending elements to combine than finding individual designs to "copy."
      I completely understand your concern and how this could rub you the wrong way, especially as a designer. I try to remind sellers that if you are copying another seller's bestselling design, you are too late and will have a very difficult time standing out and making sales. It's critical to create something unique and different. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

    I’m new at this and didn’t even know about the transaction fee or the other one you mentioned. In trying to keep my prices low, I would literally be making no profit! Right now m6 profit would be $3.00 minus the fees you just mentioned! But I’d have to charge a fortune for my shirts when others are selling really cheap. Not sure what to do.

    • @brenondopp
      @brenondopp  Год назад +1

      Hi Karen! Printful’s prices have significantly increased since I created this video. I would consider switching over to Printify as they have much more affordable prices. I have some Printify tutorials as well. Also remember that if you create something that someone wants, they will be willing to pay it as long as it isn’t outrageously priced. Another thing to note is a lot of the listings you see in search results that appear to be very cheap actually aren’t that cheap once you click through the listing. I recommend clicking through and looking at what they are actually charging for the specific product you are selling. If they are charging an extremely low price, then it is probably because they are printing and shipping it in house so they have really good margins. Not everyone on Etsy is using a print provider.
      If you want an easy way to calculate your profit per item, I recommend using the free profit calculator on eRank. Here is a link: erank.com/. You will be required to create a free account in order to access the profit calculator, but it is extremely handy because it calculates all of Etsy’s fees so you can price your items properly and know exactly what you are making per item.
      I hope this helps! You got this, Karen! 👊

    Thank you so much! Ive been binge watching your videos! I have on question: How about taxes? I live in austria and i offer shipping to the US, bur my listings always show up with a higher price as I listed befor, because of the taxes? Do I habe to change my etsy shop into an „american-etsy-shop“ to avoid the taxes for the costumer?

    • @brenondopp
      @brenondopp  2 года назад

      As I'm a US-based seller selling primarily to the US, I haven't ran into this issue and don't have much experience with it, but my thought is that Etsy, as the marketplace, is responsible for collecting and submitting taxes depending on the location of the buyer (VAT, GST, etc). My advice to you is to reach out to Etsy support to get the information you need and questions answered directly from the source. I don't know if I would change your shop to an American Etsy shop to avoid taxes as this will probably raise flags and get you in trouble, but Etsy would have a better answer for you. Sorry I don't have a better answer for you! If I find out more, I'll let you know.

Unfortunately this happens to me occasionally...I think it is a glitch in the system. I have spoken with Printful customer support about this issue but no solution... @@brenondopp Hi Brenon, thank you! Yes I did add the variations but I didn't find the ski numbers though. My store name is Easy Burger Co.
      Also, I really appreciate you and your willingness to help others out.

    • @brenondopp
      @brenondopp  3 года назад +2

      You don't need the sku number, just go to your Printful store dashboard and sync the variants for the listing that is not synced. I checked out your shop! It's looking good. Nice job getting 15 listings up and great use of color in your designs. Here are a few tips to improve the overall quality of your shop:
      1. Your thumbnail and listing photos are key to get clicks and increase sale conversion. I noticed a majority of your mockups are Printful's auto-generated ones. I suggest purchasing some high-quality mockups off of Etsy to make your shop look more professional and cohesive.
      2. Improve listing descriptions. Make sure you include every detail a customer would need to know about your product (ie. product details & sizing, shipping & production times, care instructions, how to order, etc.). You have a good start, but I would add more. The more information you include, the less questions a customer will have.
      3. Include a shipping and processing times photo in your listing photos. Also, you may want to upgrade and make your size chart photo nicer. You can purchase cheap ones off of Etsy or create your own really easily.
      4. SEO is by far the most important thing for Etsy success. Be sure you're using proven keywords that people are actually searching for. When you are adding your keywords, think like a buyer. Use keywords that buyers would actually be searching for. Your first 2 keywords in your title are the most important because they are the most heavily weighted. It doesn't matter how great your design is; if people can't find it, it will never sell.
      5. Trend research is huge. You need to be designing things that people are actually searching for and buying. Don't be afraid to experiment with your own designs and style, but also look for trending designs/styles as well and make them your own.
      I hope this helps! You're doing a great job! Keep adding listings, continue learning and improving, and sales will come. Let me know if you have any questions!

    Do I make more sales if I offer cheaper Shirt prices and people must pay extra for shipping (So I can keep the shirt price under 20 bucks for example) or do I seel more if my shirt cost over 20 bucks but shipping is included? What do you people think- or better: what is your experience about that?

    • @brenondopp
      @brenondopp  2 года назад +1

      Hi! It's up to you what you want to do. Honestly, it's a lot of experimenting to see what you like better. I personally offer free shipping and build the shipping cost into the price of the shirt because Etsy claims to rank you better in search results and free shipping is appealing to customers. There are a lot of shops that seem to do well with a lower price point and charged shipping strategy though, so don't be afraid to experiment!

  • @slysport3448
    @slysport3448 3 года назад +1

    I'm confused about the fixed price portion. If i'm offering free shipping, do i need to do set a price for an additional item (2:00). ?
    Also, i like to offer unisex shirts. I notice that in Etsy that it doesn't come up as unsex, it come up as men's. Would i need to do a men's tee and a women's tee as separate listings? I notice other shops have the unsex option in there selection. Current, i just state that it is a unisex shirt in the descriptions and in my SEO titles. My store is blackbypopculture. This is Sylvester again.

    • @brenondopp
      @brenondopp  3 года назад +2

      Hi Sylvester! You do not need to worry about charging for an additional item if you are offering free shipping, but you do want to make sure your price point is set correctly with the shipping cost built into your price so that it will cover shipping. Also, if you sell internationally, it's a good idea to only offer free shipping on U.S. orders and charge shipping for international orders as shipping internationally is expensive. You can set that up in your shipping profile.
      The unisex option is an issue that Etsy and Printful has yet to fix. If you push your product as unisex, it will say men's, but if you push it as men's, it will only show the size. Another option is to push it as women's and then clarify in your description and size chart photo that it is a unisex fit. The shops that have unisex in their selection have edited the variants and then synced them again on Printful after, which is kind of tedious and time-consuming. If you want to offer both men's and women's fit options on the same listing, you would need to add the variants on Etsy and then go and sync them on the Printful end after. You are not able to push both men's and women's on Printful. I hope this helps!

      I am so sorry! That is extremely frustrating! The same thing happened to me when I started out. Unfortunately, it happens to a lot of new accounts/sellers. The best thing you can do is email Etsy at integrity@etsy.com and support@etsy.com. Explain your situation and tell them your shop was suspended for no reason. As long as you didn't infringe on anything trademarked or copyrighted, they will reactivate your shop. They responded to me after a few days and reopened my shop. You can also call them at 1-844-659-3879. The best advice I can give you is to not give up or get discouraged! Don't let this keep you from the potential of making money online and creating the lifestyle that you want. Use this time to keep designing for when your shop does get reactivated; you'll have several designs to be able to list quickly. Let me know if you have any questions! Keep on keepin' on.
