Hi Greg! Is it possible to sell POD without shelling out any money? Could you please make videos on being able to sell tshirts totally free? Thank you!
My sister and I are disabled and receive benefits, and our Mother receives Social Security due to being retired. With the incoming administration and their talk of cutting these types of benefits, I decided I had to do something. I have some art education background, so I decided on coloring books, but without a good following or a sizable budget for advertising, that just hasn't worked out. So, I began watching videos about t-shirts and other digital POD-type products. So far your information seems to be the most legitimate. I will follow your instructions and keep folks posted about my progress. Thank you for all of your time and hard work.
This is exactly what I was looking for! Most tutorials assume you already have a big audience, but you really broke down how beginners can still succeed with print-on-demand. Thanks for always keeping it realistic!
I must say - What a commendable job you have done in helping out some one like me who is just conceptualising starting a print on demand business. Amazing work and much thanks!
thank you so much for this video ive bee replaying this video for 3 days and i have finally gain the courage to start my own seller page on the sites you've suggested. thank you for you time in making this video so easy to understand every step you've suggested. definitely gained a new sub. thanks again im so excited about this new start, ive been wanting to design for years just didn't know how to began
Excellent video, Greg! Very helpful, concise & informative. I also appreciate you timestamping the video to make it easier to rewatch a section when needed. Thank you!
Can you do some videos on how a particular shirt is doing that you made in the past? How long it took you to sell your first shirt? What were some useful tips you noticed helped? How much has that shirt made you over the years? How many designs had you made before you made your first sale? Would you say seasonal, trendy, or recreating old designs work best if you're just getting started?
I watch your videos several times 1) so it sticks…even though most info may be the same, there is info you add as time changes and print on demand sites add or take away features. On your list if possible one day if you haven’t already on how to created multiple designs then for each design create multiple mock-ups for all your designs at one time. I have tried a Canva process using an excel spreadsheet, but it is not user friendly and it ends up taking more time in the long run. If there is a faster process to do this? that would be great! Thanks for info!
Great question! Teepublic is the lowest with automated pricing. Typically only a couple dollars per sale, but nice that they manage pricing and sales. RedBubble and Amazon are custom set pricing so you can set your margin. Typically $5 is average on a $19.99 shirt sale 👍 During trends or holidays you can up that to $23.99 for the shirts selling well and get almost $10 profit per sale.
This video is a gem! So informative. ❤ Just two questions: 1. When signing up to these marketlpaces, they ask for country. If im outside the US, will i have to pay taxes? 2. Do all 3 accept PayPal?
Greg welcome back, glad you are here and thanks for your guidance, please give some touch to tee spring and it's new feature All over print please share soon 😅
Hey thanks! Their all over prints are awesome but Teespring changed to Spring and now is an active print on demand company (so no more marketplace to get organic buyers).
@@GregGottfried Thank you so much! I've been researching and taking a lot of notes! Thank you for your video on Merch Informer as well! It's so much easier to navigate and understand what I'm looking at 😁
Hi Greg I have a question. Great channel👍 … think I’ve grasped the basic concept. Couple of quick questions… When you find a “topic” with a competition score of let’s say an A or a B would you still dig down to look for sub niches within that overall topic or would you just run with the overall topic? Also, I’ve found a couple of niche ideas when I’ve been following the process … only to find that there are very few (sometimes none at all) or design templates on placeit that cover that niche / or designs that are unsuitable. Is there a blank template on placeit we could use to just create shirt designs with just slogans rather than images … seems a shame to have to abandon a promising niche idea purely on the basis that there is no suitable image that can be used … if the niche is under served even a text only design would be better than walking away from the niche and looking for something else wouldn't it?
What would you recommend for a good way to advertise a seller's brand- printed on a T-shirt, for example - that is being sold on multiple platforms? Like Nike has the swoosh & everyone knows what that symbol represents. If a seller wants to direct potential buyers to their stores using the product as a walking billboard, how what you recommend doing that?
Curious to learn how I can create my own unique design, like from scratch, or using some type of art and text tools. Any ideas where to start? Thank you!
lol no worries! I personally like when people break things down super simply so I try my best to do the same here. If you run into any questions just let me know 👍
Thank you for sharing this valuable information. It’s an excellent resource for someone new to digital and online selling. I’ll definitely give it a try. I do have a question. Do these site allow you to put a link on your own website?
Hi Greg, Thank you for another great video. Colours : Is it better to offer a wide range of colours or say 6 of the most popular colours as too many colours to choose from may confuse the seller?
Great video. I'm just starting out and in the learning phase. One thing you didn't mention was pricing of the items. Do you have a video that discusses how to price products? Thank you.
Thanks! Great question. Yes it’s covered it other videos but no worries. The gist of it is Teepublic has automated pricing so they take care of all the pricing for us. Typically only a couple dollars profit per sale, but nice that they manage pricing and running sales for us. RedBubble and Amazon are custom set pricing so you can set your margin. I aim for $19.99 price per tshirt. Typically $5 is the average profit on a $19.99 shirt sale 👍 During trends or holidays you can up that to $23.99 for the shirts selling well and get almost $10 profit per sale.
Thanks for the comment, great question, I should have discussed this a bit more in the video. Each of the sites does payments their own way, however across the board you will be paid either automatically direct deposit to your bank each month, automatically paid to your PayPal each month, or funds build up in your account and you can choose how often you want to withdraw them either into PayPal/Payoneer/direct deposit. I hope that helps clarify!
The title of the video is based on "start print on demand without a following", however, following your video and creating an account on Teepublic I was on "Pending" status before changed to "Apprentice" (one of two Account types). This type of account clearly notes "NOT eligible for visibility in on-site search" (the NOT is capitalised by Teepublic, not me). Doing some research, it is noted designs in Apprentice accounts need to be marketed on social media or other means. I also found that a few months ago many Teepublic users were downgraded to Apprentice Accounts (even users with over 1,000 designs) - their products no longer appearing Teepublic search results and lost sales because of this. Can you help me understand if I missed a step or how my designs and products can be found on Teepublic without a following?
Great question! The short answer is, as many as you can.. I know that’s not super helpful but I would recommend at least 100 and then you can upload those same designs to all 3 websites (to give you 300 live listings). If you can make them on trends or seasonal events in the beginning you will get the fastest sales 👍
Hi Greg, which platform would you recommend for people who draw/create their own designs and want to use them in print on demand products? Placeit, Kittl, Canva etc? I also need to be able to place text anywhere on or off my graphics. Thanks!
hello Greg thank you for this video I was just wondering how we are getting paid I didn't set up any bank account or PayPal and also how do we set up the front store Thank you again
What would be a possible scenario if you use a phrase that is not trademarked but later after you sell some shirts, someone goes ahead and trademarks it? Also, when we start getting good number of sales. Should we consider filing for an LLC?
Your video is great! You provide the information a beginner can easily follow. I'm wondering what would be an approximate of the return from your design on this pod site.
Great question. Generally speaking, shirts cost about $10 to get printed and shipped. That varies a bit but it gives a good starting point. With a shirt priced at $19.99 we get a profit of about $5. So generally, I'd say they split the profit with us pretty close to evenly. Given that they do all the marketing, customer service, printing, and shipping, it's a good deal for us 👍 If you use websites like Printful, Printify, or Gelato, you can make the full $10 profit yourself, but the biggest cost to factor in is advertising. The better you get at paid ads, the higher you can keep your profit, but for most people, especially those just starting out, it costs more than $10 in paid ads to get a single shirt sale. I hope that all makes sense and helps!
Hello, thank you for the very meaningful video. I have a suggestion that my product is not beautiful and of good quality. Can you suggest some places where it can be done?
Why are the results different between Keyword Search and Competition Checker different? I get an F under Keyword Search but an A if I use Competition Checker. Could you shed light on this? Thank you in advance!
Great question! They actually just changed this last week. The Keyword Finder/Search now checks for the exact keyword, whereas the Competition Checker feature gives us the competition for the other t-shirts (what we are looking for). I'll make an updated video, but essentially all we have to do is open a second tab with the Competition Checker up and copy-paste the keywords to check them there 👍
Hi Greg, loved this tutorial! My question is: can I upload my original line drawings (black pen and ink on white backgrounds)? Will these sites be able to transfer them to invisible backgrounds? Could my designs be stolen? Thanks!
Hey I actually stopped sharing my personal designs a couple years ago because they were copied like wild-fire when I did share them...I even had entire stores ripped off with fake social profiles and all.. Happy to point you in the right direction though 👍
I am diving in head first today! So quick question though -- you do mention very briefly promoting on social media in other videos, 1 awhile ago that was longer & I think perhaps now outdated as it pertained to TeeSpring. It emphasized creating a niche specific IG account but it sounds from your more recent videos as though that is not necessary with these other 3 sites you now are emphasizing? Would love to see a video on best practices for promoting on SM as I do have various accounts, some niche specific but wondering if it would be best just to create a general account as there will be designs from a wide variety of niches to promote... ?
@@GregGottfried thank you! I did watch that one and rewatched that section. So it sounds like it does not have to be from a niche-specific account (can just be a general/personal account), just with good hashtags for the exposure, would you say?
Great info like.always. Thanks about the copyright and trademark..not enough people talk about these things 🎉. Greg can you publish your product wirh a mockup from Placeit? With a person wearing it I mean
Thanks! I agree, copyright and trademark are a huge topic in POD and should really get a lot more focus. Yes, you can use the design from Placeit to put on a mockups on Placeit and download it as well. These are great for social media pages and anywhere you're doing marketing for your designs 👍
Very good video, thanks! So if i had a RUclips channel and i wanted to sell my merch, is there a way to get a ‘link’ for Red Bubble Merchandise/‘Store’ for my own website?
Hi, I don’t really care about making money or finding “what’s going to sell”, I just have sone designs that I want to get printed mostly so I can rep my brand. What print on demand clothing website do you recommend for this? I really don’t wanna have to get a whole press & do stamps the homemade way either because I have a lot going on already. I’ve heard of Ali baba & Bella canvas. Let me know, thanks!
Great question. You can do this on Teepublic and RedBubble, but for your specific case I would recommend Printful. They have the largest catalog of apparel options and some very high quality options too. Hope that's helpful 👍
Im starting to see a trend that every “tool” available to be successful costs $$ .. would you say sales are almost guaranteed using these tactics to the tee Or will it still be an up in the air sales results?
I actually agree with this, but I think it's because in order to succeed you need to have something 'unique' that everyone else doesn't have. Paid tools are often the way to achieve this because 99% of other people won't pay for a tool, so it gives you an advantage.
You’re a really good salesman… can you do a video on that. 😂 Also if a niche is an “A” doesn’t that mean absolutely no one is searching for that and no demand? Anyway this is cool
Thanks! They are great but they are an active POD website so you will have to bring your own buyers with marketing and advertising. Amazon, RedBubble, and Teepublic are passive POD websites so they bring the buyers for you 👍
Hey i was wondering if i can sell them is Another country even if im in South Africa ?? And i would want to ask if what is your Profit ?? Is it 50/50 and can i upload an non Copie right image ?
Greg, I really enjoy your videos. They are very informative. Question, I have two different niches I’d like to explore. Do you recommend setting up a different store for each?
Thanks and great question. If you are using a POD marketplace website, you can actually upload both niches to your account as normal without needing to create storefronts. The marketplaces will show them in the corresponding niches in the marketplace results automatically 👍

I'll make an updated video, but essentially all we have to do is open a second tab with the Competition Checker up and copy-paste the keywords to check them there 👍
Thanks for the video. Hei Greg, all you did here on marsh was with the newbie plan?
Yes 👍 I have the Pro plan for a higher number of searches per day, but you can do it all on the Newbie plan!
Is all of this the same with the market websites if i don't live in the US ? (I'm from Portugal)
Yes it is 👍👍
@ great! Thank you
Hi Greg, loved this tutorial! My question is:
can I upload my original line drawings (black pen and ink on white backgrounds)?
Will these sites be able to transfer them to invisible backgrounds?
Could my designs be stolen?
Thanks!
hi sir, may i check for the PlaceIt software, do i have to use the designs there or can i upload designs that i get from elsewhere?
Hi Greg, just wondering to see one your shops that you sell print on demand tshirts.
Great question! The end of this video covers the best SM marketing strategy 👍👍 ruclips.net/video/tkzTJUgqMI0/видео.html
@@GregGottfried thank you! I did watch that one and rewatched that section. So it sounds like it does not have to be from a niche-specific account (can just be a general/personal account), just with good hashtags for the exposure, would you say?
@@annem2384 exactly right! 😀
@@GregGottfried aw thank you. I'm so excited -- have my first design completed today with several others in process!! ☺
@@GregGottfried ❤️
Very good video, thanks!
So if i had a RUclips channel and i wanted to sell my merch, is there a way to get a ‘link’ for Red Bubble Merchandise/‘Store’ for my own website?
Hello great video! how can I register my phrase on the t-shirt to be a trade mark ? can I do it through Merch Informer?
How pricing will work like if I get a sale, how much will they pay me for that sale? explain pricing 😅 please
Great video with fantastic information , willbe very helpfull to talk about net profits on the t-shirts
Bro you make best video i appreciate you but i hve questions
I choose fourthwall for pod is good or bad please please please reply ❤❤
Thanks! They are great but they are an active POD website so you will have to bring your own buyers with marketing and advertising. Amazon, RedBubble, and Teepublic are passive POD websites so they bring the buyers for you 👍
Hey great video! One question, what happens if the design/slogan you use is available when you use it, but later becomes trademarked?
Great information! Thanks!
I did membership with Etsy before I seen this can I upload there too ?
You saved my life🎉...thank u
Great breakdown of the POD process. Thanks so much!
Glad it was helpful! If you run into any questions just let me know 👍
Hi Grey, may i ask why u never use Etsy to sell your products ?
Great question! I moved away from them for a few big reasons. More on that here: ruclips.net/video/m2v5bifoIX0/видео.html I hope that’s helpful 👍
@@GregGottfried thanks alot! Great contents
Thank you very much for your video. It is really helpful. Please how do you add your account details to receive your money
Hey i was wondering if i can sell them is Another country even if im in South Africa ?? And i would want to ask if what is your Profit ?? Is it 50/50 and can i upload an non Copie right image ?
Great video !
Thanks Greg! Super helpful video. I have my own designs do you think place it is still worth it?
Thank you, great gap fill in research topics for me.
A great video, but how about the cut those company's take ?
They get a couple bucks per sale and we get a couple bucks per sale. It's fair for the amount of traffic and exposure they bring us 👍
@ Thank you for the reply. but i can you be a bit more precise? Numbers wise
@@GregGottfried Awesome! Thank you!!
Do you recommend putting designs. On etsy?
The best video out there! Thank you so much. What do you think about Etsy and eBay? These are also popular marketplaces.
Hey greg, Can you please make a full tutorial on the topic of How to Post and promote our Print on demand Designs on Social Media Creatively Specially On Instagram and Pinterest Please make a full practical tutorial on this topic
Absolutely! Here’s a full one on that topic on the channel: ruclips.net/video/DvWFwKSEByw/видео.html If you run into any questions just let me know 👍
Great info! thanks
I have a merch account that I've had for years, however my t-shirts never show up on Amazon do you have a tutorial that shows me how to make sure my merch t-shirt show up on Amazon
Thanks for this! I wanna start my store but I wanna know more about providers. Can you make a video talking about awkward styles, gelato and printify?
which products are you looking for?
