Tangerine Tech As someone with a british accent, our accents do tend to sound more mature when we’re around that age. Having a higher pitched voice like zelda’s at 16 isn’t very common.

"Courage need not be remembered for it is never forgotten" was my fav line too. That moment was really emotional and powerful. My heart stopped for a moment and I got goosebumps. Even if I'm Spanish, I preferred playing it in English just because of the voices. Translation was wrong in some times, but I really really liked the voice acting.

I've still never understood why so many people hate her voice acting. She really brings Princess Zelda to life, IMO. She really sold the crying scene for me and I started crying myself. Again, if you hate her voice acting for some reason, it's your opinion. IMO, her voice acting was great. People say that she should've used her normal voice, but that's a horrible idea. People say that the voice she did for Zelda sounds too old, but she makes herself sound younger than she is. Her normal voice is too old for Zelda. Why are people saying that she sounds too old and should've used her normal voice when it probably would've made you hate Zelda's voice more.
The problem is that her forced higher pitch makes her sound like an old lady or a dude trying to immitate a woman. It would've been way better if she didn't use an accent and used a lower pitch in voice to sound more natural.
For me, it's just her british accent sounds too fake. I know Nintendo probably told her to do the british accent, but I don't know if they gave her good direction, or if they even have her direction at all... I don't hate her though. She seems like a nice person it's just she's one of the weaker voices in Breath of the Wild, which is really a shame since she's in the most cutscenes. But I do think in some ways, she's improved in her voice acting since then. In that Age of Calamity trailer, her line where she says "I must save... Everyone!" Sounded really good, and full of sincere emotion. Much better than her voice acting in BotW imo.

When I heard they were going to give Zelda a voice I was disappointed. But after hearing her speak, now I can't imagine Zelda without her voice. I still hope they never give Link a voice.

I saw her at comic con of Montreal. She is super cool but for some reason, my mind decided that i can’t speak english anymore so when i talked to her, i was saying stuff that didn’t make sense at all. It’s still one of the moment i regret the most in my life 😂
We met Patricia Summersett at London Comic Con and she was the loveliest person! She was so complimentary to all the cosplayers representing anything to do with Zelda and seemed so pleased to be signing things you asked.
She is pretty and she does actually look like Zelda. I was surprised by the British accent but I got used to it, and by the end of all the cut scenes I thought the voice matched. The main thing is that Link was still silent because that would be so controversial and not sure they would ever find a voice to suit everyone’s tastes or perception of what he should sound like.
You can somewhat tell that Link's voice throughout most of the games in Japanese. Like, when he falls down a pit, he doesn't go, "AAAAAHHH!" -- He goes, "UUUWAAAA!" But beyond just getting used to it, you come to expect and appreciate it, so fully voicing him in English would change the feel of the game to a surprising extent even when Link isn't talking. (At least until you got used to it again.) He was a commoner, so he wouldn't have the same accent as Zelda. I've always got the impression that he's quite laid back, although the games show him being very serious as well.
Honestly I think she did AMAZING with the voice acting. The perfect voice for Zelda, I never could think of one better. The only think I don’t like about it is... when I’m in Vah Ruta and Mipha speaks it sounds too similar to zelda’s so I get confused...

You know, I didn't really warm up to the voice of Zelda until I'd played through most of Botw. I think it really suits the character, and though her British accent needs some more practice, I really like it. Having your favorite characters be given a voice is pretty awesome, especially when it's done well.

I just found it a bit strange how for Zelda, Nintendo casted someone with an American accent to voice a character with a British accent, and then for Pyra/Mythra in Xenoblade 2, they casted someone with a British accent to voice someone with an American accent
She signed my strategy guide, and wrote that quote in Hylian. I loved that you were given goals but you could accomplish them in the order of your choosing. Previous games were so linear.

Honestly, when it comes to the voice acting in that game, she's the crown jewel Zora girl is so quiet, I can't tell what she's saying; King Hyrule is obviously an American who doesn't have a clue what makes an English accent (can't even pronounce his own name correctly); the Gerudoes are supposed to pronounce the letter R as a standard R like in Arabic (and Latin, Japanese, Icelandic, etc) rather than an English/German R. That's specifically only for Gerudoan words and names, which is fine and makes sense, but they made a mess out of it: "Nabooru" gets a standard R, but "Urbosa" doesn't, and then "Gerudo" does sometimes, but then other times it doesn't...
Zelda is not a frickin British princess. No one expected Zelda to sound like that. Honestly she should have just spoken in her normal voice. Her natural speaking voice is lovely and perfect for Zelda.

I don't think she's a bad voice actress, I don't hate her personally (I don't know her, why would I?). I just personally think her voice was mismatched for Zelda because it's too deep. Not dark, just deep. She sounds a lot, lot older than 17, which by the way is not a bad thing in itself. There's nothing wrong with having a mature sounding voice - but she voices a 17 year old, small girl. It personally removed the immersion whenever Zelda spoke
I'm not a mega fan of the English line delivery but I do like the occasional rasp in Zelda's voice. It's a nice break from the typical soft, high voices most female characters get.
I'd love to hear interviews with the voice actors done in-character, mostly just as a setup for the joke of Link saying nothing but "hyaa!" "And how is your relationship with King Dorephan after what happened to Mipha?" "HYUP! HYAA! HYYYY! HA!" "Fascinating."
I’m sorry, this is nothing against this woman. I know nothing of her. But, I cannot stand the British Accent of Zelda in BOTW. It absolutely made me cringe. I never once felt as if Zelda was British. I love her voice in Ocarina of Time and Skyward Sword most! 💖 But that’s just me!
I'm sorry, but Zelda's voice acting in this game was terrible. I'm sure the actress is cool and talented, fault is with the sound director. She sounds like she's acting in a child's pantomime. Everything is over acted and sounds like a kids TV show. Not authentic or sincere at all. The fake British accent because "royal people are British" trope was awful.
Her accent is really shakey and Americanisms slip out throughout the game which is really noticeable as a brit. I really like her voice for Zelda, but I hope she's been working on her accent for the new games

I just found it a bit strange how for Zelda, Nintendo casted someone with an American accent to voice a character with a British accent, and then for Pyra/Mythra in Xenoblade 2, they casted someone with a British accent to voice someone with an American accent
I think it worked better because Skye Bennett was born from American family and all of the blades are given American accents

Why does everyone think she's awful as Princess Zelda? I love her voice acting, she fits perfectly to Zelda from Breath of the Wild who just isn't the usual cute pink princess. She's better than for example this extremly high japanese voice which I think is truly awful, maybe would be good for Toon Zelda but definitly not for the more serious and sometimes almost "depressed" BotW Zelda.

Zora girl is so quiet, I can't tell what she's saying; King Hyrule is obviously an American who doesn't have a clue what makes an English accent (can't even pronounce his own name correctly); the Gerudoes are supposed to pronounce the letter R as a standard R like in Arabic (and Latin, Japanese, Icelandic, etc) rather than an English/German R. That's specifically only for Gerudoan words and names, which is fine and makes sense, but they made a mess out of it: "Nabooru" gets a standard R, but "Urbosa" doesn't, and then "Gerudo" does sometimes, but then other times it doesn't...

Zelda is not a frickin British princess. No one expected Zelda to sound like that. Honestly she should have just spoken in her normal voice. Her natural speaking voice is lovely and perfect for Zelda.

I don't think she's a bad voice actress, I don't hate her personally (I don't know her, why would I?). I just personally think her voice was mismatched for Zelda because it's too deep. Not dark, just deep. She sounds a lot, lot older than 17, which by the way is not a bad thing in itself. There's nothing wrong with having a mature sounding voice - but she voices a 17 year old, small girl. It personally removed the immersion whenever Zelda spoke

I'm not a mega fan of the English line delivery but I do like the occasional rasp in Zelda's voice. It's a nice break from the typical soft, high voices most female characters get.
I'd love to hear interviews with the voice actors done in-character, mostly just as a setup for the joke of Link saying nothing but "hyaa!"

I’m sorry, this is nothing against this woman. I know nothing of her. But, I cannot stand the British Accent of Zelda in BOTW. It absolutely made me cringe. I never once felt as if Zelda was British. I love her voice in Ocarina of Time and Skyward Sword most! 💖 But that’s just me!

I'm sorry, but Zelda's voice acting in this game was terrible. I'm sure the actress is cool and talented, fault is with the sound director. She sounds like she's acting in a child's pantomime. Everything is over acted and sounds like a kids TV show. Not authentic or sincere at all.
