What does and does not change after Ganon [contains endboss spoilers and parts of the credits]

- Additional notes:
Nago is a giant boar appearing in the movie Princess Mononoke, which has a LOT of interesting parallels to BotW. If you haven't seen it already, I strongly recommend it - but don't watch it with small children, as some of the scenes are a bit too gory for younger audiences.
An in-depth guide for the enemy/weapon scaling mechanic can be found here: / about_difficulty_scali...
The "Defeat Ganon" un-completing itself is the only thing that slightly annoys me. They wouldn't even have had to change the quest text or any dialogue - just the checkmark staying "completed" would have been enough. As it is now, you'll always have that annoying "X out of Y quests completed" even if you do everything else.
Two additional pictures unlocking in the Hateno Tech Lab are weapons instead of enemies: The Master Sword and Bow of Light respectively. I guess Nintendo didn't want to spoil what those look like, in case someone buys the full compendium before finishing the story. The same goes for the bosses not being revealed too early.
Blights fought inside the Sanctum are even harder than inside the Divine Beasts, as each of them gets a full 2k HP instead of the convenient health point scaling. Source: / psa_blight_hps_scale_d...
Kilton's "quest" is a bit confusing. It does not appear in the quest log despite being something that you can call a long-term goal instead of a quick fetch quest. And the "DEFEATED" star only shows up if you have killed the miniboss in question AND talked to Kilton about this specific enemy type. During this video I beat Ganon, talked to Kilton only about Moldugas and assumed this unlocked the markers for the other two as well, but none of the Taluses and Hinoxes gained that "DEFEATED" star until I talked to Kilton again and picked their dialogue options as well. (The markers then showed up retroactively, no need to defeat those foes again. It's just a bit confusing if they're not there if you expect them).
On a related note, the minibosses encountered inside the Trial of the Sword do NOT count towards this. The only minibosses you'll need are the ones that appear in Hyrule's overworld, as well as the castle and Eventide Island because while those may be "special" locations, they're still part of the overworld. TotS however is an "illusory realm" - everything in there basically only happens inside Link's head.
All I want is for the "defeat Ganon" quest to be shown as complete
Literally that's all I want for post game
I want Impas acknowledgement of it
@@lostmymindinbooks yes. she's been through enough.
Me too.
AGREED. That is the least they could have done. Maybe have a star on it for each time it’s completed.
the completion-ist in me needs it!
I hope that Tears of the Kingdom has a mechanic similar to Tarrey Town but for the whole map, where you are able to slowly but surely watch hyrule be rebuilt as you play.
I heard of this idea before and is really want that. The consequences of your actions by seeing the actual setting progress.
Shit I want something more involved than just bringing 10 pieces of wood
I would love that holy shit
Hopefully you can unlock gold/silver enemies when you defeat ganon the same way you do in botw
that would be so cool!
This. I really wish more changed after ganon was defeated. Like at least the npc responses. It would be great if there were specific post game quests.
Well that'd be kind of weird since Ganon would still be around, just offing him wouldn't work either since canonically, most, if not all, of the monsters and malice are tied to Ganon, there'd be nothing left to do except maybe the shrines and some npc interactions since the monsters and malice would go down with him (even in the sequel I imagine it'll be something like the monsters start off gone until whatever causes them to investigate the underground happens.) 🤔
@@homerman76 This. I really wish more changed after ganon was defeated. Like at least the npc responses. It would be great if there were specific post game quests.
@@BL3446 you just put your comment -_-
@@homerman76 this is false, monsters are not a direct result of Ganon at least not canonically speaking
@@hylianro you're right but I think they're talking about guardians and none of the monsters can be resurrected without blood moons
I wish they would give us a Rebuild Hyrule mode. I just want to see everyone happy and travel around a safer, prosperous Hyrule!! Even if all the monsters still somehow kept popping back up.. it would just be nice to see Castle Town restored!
Hey who knows , maybe we'll see that in Tears of The Kingdom
If you're comfortable with modding, I think there's a community project to restore all the buildings in Hyrule to pre-calamity state. It's honestly really cool to see, even in screenshots.
Maybe therse some of that in tears of the kingdom
Every movie and video game and tv show that shows the falling action of rebuilding and cleaning up always interested me. Probably why I enjoyed Viscera Cleanup Detail so much. I would LOVE for there to be a rebuilding mode.
Technically Age Of Calamity had locations that were destroyed in Breath Of The Wild and restored them to their original shape by some degree. Places like Hyrule Castle Town, Hyrule Field and the Akkala Citadel. And even if they are just a static image places like the Military Training Camp and Mabe Ranch count as well.
"Go rescue Zelda already before they release the sequel"
... considering this is the goal I have set for myself when they announced it. I feel needlessly targeted😂😂😅
I rescued her JUST before the New Year! I was really upset/angry so I took it out on Ganon lmao and shockingly, I beat him. I'm normally terrible at video games when it comes to combat.
@@pentagrin4157I got everything you could before I killed ganon (except the koroks I have better things to do than get all of those) so when I finally fought him it was so easy 😂😂
This is the goal I've set too, problem is I want to get more confident at responding to the dynamic untrackable enemies that pop up out of nowhere cos on one to many occasions have I been wandering around not knowing the area isn't a safe zone and getting jumpscared by stal lizals or Hylia knows what from behind.
Also, I'm completing as many sidequests as I can before I smack ganon but one requires a hoof from a lynel...which I haven't defeated before, didn't help that I got put off from my last and first encounter, also didn't help that I didn't have any Champions abilities back then but I think I'm almost prepared 😅
@@The_Twilight_Triforce I’ve beat ganon but I’m still afraid to face lynels 😂🙈 I’m terrible at dodging and flurry rush, which seem especially important against lynels
@@The_Twilight_Triforce you can go to ganon in 2 min without having to challenge any lynels or guardians. just equip your zora armour and rush up the waterfalls and you are there. if u struggle with it just search a video about it there are tons.
This alone is why I’m so excited for tears of the kingdom. I want to see more NPC reactions to Link being the actual hero and how people are going to start rebuilding
It's possible he's not seen as a hero for this though honestly, for how little word spreads around war torn Hyrule
Then again, maybe we are able to recruit people BECAUSE we are the hero, like how charismatic war leaders could inspire troops
@@swivel_z1371 oh, people know.
Sorry to break it to ya, but Nintendo’s too stubborn to change the Zelda formula by adding post-ending narrative content. BOTW’s DLC didn’t do it, so I doubt they will for TOTK as well. All the content that gets unlocked after beating the game boss is merely just gameplay-centric stuff, like being able to see how much of the games percentage to reach 100% is done, or how many quests you have left.
And then it turns out 3/4 of the characters act like BotW's events never happened or like they've never even MET Link before.
I initially thought that after you killed Ganon, maybe you could then clear all the enemies off the map, and they wouldn't respawn. I was so wrong.
that would be a cool game mode. It would cause you to put more thought into how you use weapons as this would make them more difficult to come by. (I haven't played the game in a while but I don't think you can buy weapons anywhere but the ancient lab in akala.)
That would make the game incredibly boring
Technically you can do that already.. you just never let the Blood Moon happen. I have been doing that in my game. I stopped letting Blood Moons happen about 2 years ago? LOL I haven't played much recently because I misplaced my game cartridge but if I do start up again any times soon.. i am going to continue clearing out Hyrule of all monsters and preventing future blood moons until the game forces me to have one. :9
@@DJ-0 Maybe for you. To me I would enjoy a monsterless mode where I could just explore safely. Guardians trigger my arachnaphobia. LOL
There is the master sword
While I was initially annoyed that there isn't a post-game with a gannon-less hyrule, I realized that a ton of npc dialogue would have to change, Hyrule Castle and a bunch of areas would be drastically changed, blood moons could no longer happen so nothing could ever respawn and the game couldn't reset itself if something goes wrong, and anyone who beats Gannon before 100%-ing the game would be locked out of some quests and have to make a new save file. But yeah, I do wish the "defeat gannon" quest got completed.
Pretty sure blood moons would still happen though, canonically. Calamity Ganon was just a big malice blob, not the real Ganon, so malice would still be spawning monsters and resonating with the moon. Just less frequently.
@@jerotoro2021 Yeah, but the player wouldn't know that Calamity Ganon wasn't the real Ganon unless they'd seen the trailer for Botw2.
Tbh they 100% could've made postgame. Dialogue isn't a factor. They could've just had the moon still be cursed.
@@2-bit567 Because it all so easy. Just say it and it'll happen.

I remember back when twilight princess released I wanted a post game so badly. It was a bit depressing after such an emotional ending we just get booted back to before fighting ganondorf. But I will say unlike botw, twilight princess showed how life was like after beating ganondorf in the credits which made up for it.
Hopefully tears of the kingdom has a post game

I brought this game the day it was released on the WII U..... Played it for days and days and completed it with no doubt tons of stuff I hadn't done! But I sold it on and haven't looked back since!! Can't believe people are still playing it to be honest 😕
@anthonyjackson2463 well for me it's the contrary. 250 hours to defeat all the divine beasts because I HAD to explore every inch that was in my way, and I'm planning on playin another 100 hours bc there's few areas I'm still missing. And I was extremely pleased to discover that people never stopped playin this game and are accumulating as many hours if not more than me
@@AnthonyAtheist There is so MUCH to explore in this game! I've been putting off defeating Ganon for the longest time just so that I can finish all the shrines and quests and Divine beasts first. I actually didn’t know about the elite pictures. I just never really bothered with Symin or completing the compendium
same
Honestly, it was fun for a while until you have about 50 or so pictures left, and all you do is search for the pictures. It was calming to be running around all of Hyrule snapping pictures of elemental swords and ancient shields and stuff, but once when you have the last few you didn’t find in a normal play through, that’s when I had the least amount of fun with it.
@@realepicaaron3326 Can't you just buy whatever last pictures you're missing?
@@milodiin Yes, which is what I do because they look way better than me trying to make a Selfie of a Lizalfos running at mach speed towards me.
@@milodiin the reward is pointless. It's just a key item that says it's an envelope that contains a picture of a beautiful Sheikah woman (implied to be younger Purah) but you can't open or view it at all.
At least after completing the Champion's Ballad you can hang up/display in your house the picture Kass gives you (requires purchasing all house upgrades).
I'm used to older games really ending after the final boss, so, being a completionist, I tried my best to do EVERYTHING before beating Ganon. And by everything, I mean every quest, every memory, every shrine and Divine Beast, collect every Korok seed, expand my inventory to the max, all minigames, all pictures in the Compendium, collect all different types of armour (until I realized it's not really possible), upgrade all armour to the max, defeat every single enemy, and open every single treasure chest. However, at some point into this endeavour, I learned that you can continue playing after defeating Ganon and so I defeated him before I had opened all the treasure chests and defeated every single enemy. However, I had defeated so many enemies throughout my game that I had silver bokoblins and lizalfos before I did my first Divine Beast!
Ur just like me
@@unl3ash3d95 I'm glad I'm not alone!
Jesus, silver enemies before the first divine beast? Were you disappointed with the boss fights, or felt that the game got too easy?
@@ot8983 It wasn't sooo bad, because the mechanics are a bit different for the blights and for Ganon than for the enemies like bokoblins and lizalfos. But they were definitely easier than I expected!
By every enemy you mean every single bokoblin, lizalfo, keese and so on? How do you even keep track of that?
While the general lack of change is unsatisfying after all of the damage we've seen, finally learning Ganon's defeat at least does something is quite nice! Thanks for being so thorough.

@@OsnosisBones Yeah, I didn't expect a time skip that large between the two games.
I think the biggest reason why more people are annoyed there’s no post-game content is because the world feels so alive and there’s the feeling of there being loose ends.

Hopefully your expectations aren’t too high for that, Zelda as a series has never really had content in a post-ending world and I doubt it will change with TotK. But I would hope for better ending cutscenes than what we got with BotW to show us more of that post-ending world

I don't think it's a "what you're used to in other games" thing, I think it's an age thing. I was so surprised and disappointed that Ocarina of Time didn't let me walk around in the world where everything was fixed. I was sure I'd be able to thaw out Zora's domain... because I was a kid.
oh and I totally sympathize with you on how some dingdongs can be who don't understand basic logic.
Yea, as a kid who grew up with oot (and still love it a lot) I've always been disappointed that after the credits roll, the game just says "The End" and you can't do anything except reset your console. Also, why is Zora'a Domain still frozen in the credits... Sheik even tells you that it and its people will eventually return to normal, yet you never see them do so
As a kid I always thought the game was broken until I really found out that's truly how it ends. It was a shame. That didn't stop my triforce hunt for the years to come however lol

This was a thing for A Link to the Past on SNES also, especially since it teased such a world in the ending, showing various things changed and restored to before Ganon/Aghanim ruined them. But you reload your save and everything's the same as it was before. I remember that being very bitter sweet the first time.
At least you get gold/silver enemy unlock for beating Ganon. It’s something 🤷♂️
I wish we had a Mario-like style of ending, where we can talk to the princess and continue our quest instead of rebooting our progress to the same before the final battle. This would surely give me the sensation of "mission accomplished" and the feeling that I had somewhere else to be. That did not happen at all when I finished BotW...
I think the easiest way to fix the ending would have been to let the player explore a post Gannon Hyrule, changing different areas, and adding new dialogue. There could still be monsters and blood moons and just explain it as, “the lingering effects of Gannon’s power slowly dwindles away.”
On top of that it would've been so easy to allow players to rematch gannon again in a post game just by having the option to trigger the fight again when entering the boss room. It still allows for the open world play just gives a sense of achievement on top 🤧
Yea but that ain't easy
Nice.
I mean, sounds like we heard his voice in the new trailer, so I'm not too sure about the fading power part.
Would have loved to go on quests delivered by Princess Zelda to rebuild her kingdom. I would have paid for the DLC "Healing Hyrule".

Been the worst part about Zelda for decades now
I’ve always wished the final cutscene was rendered in-game rather than being pre-rendered. That way the malice-free hyrule, though it likely wouldn’t be fully modeled, could be explored with a freecam mod. Hopefully we’ll be able to explore this version of the kingdom in the sequel before the castle gets blasted into the sky like in the trailer. This video was also great! The enemy xp stuff was explained especially well!
The intro made me laugh cause I did end up waiting a few years to beat it. I recently picked it up a couple of months ago to complete all the temples etc. and finally beat it a couple of weeks ago just in time for the sequel to come out soon.
The least I was hoping would be that at least Impa would acknowledge that you beat the game since she is the one telling Link directly to go to Hyrule Castle and defeat Calamity Ganon
I thought I was being crazy for putting off Ganon for 6 months but it's crazy to me that some people are putting him off for years
I put him off for 2 years! Got all shrines, koroks, armor upgrades, Hyrule compandium, ect ect. The Ganon fight was a nice ending :)
@@jadevanzonnetje see I was planning to do that too but I didn't want to build up to the fight for months and months and then be disappointed by it cause I had my hopes so high XD
I got the game in March 2021 and I still haven’t beaten Ganon yet; I’m still trying to get as many shrines and materials as I can which constantly sidetracks me.
Isn’t anything compared to my sister, as they haven’t even completed a single divine beast yet. They just enjoy running around and exploring. She’s not much of a combat person so she’s much more pacifistic compared to me (with my dumb ass challenging myself to not use ancient arrows against angry guardians, fighting Lynels way above my skill level and only living thanks to food buffs, etc)
I preordered the game for Wii U, played it for three years, never beat Ganon. Then my disc broke and it stopped working on Wii U, so I got the Switch version about 6 months later. I finally went and actually beat Ganon in August of 2022, about 52 months after I got the game. I was just distracted going around doing random stuff!
4 years ago I remember when I was about 11 years old. After beating the last Divine beast I said “this game is too beautiful to end” and put him off for 4 years but here I am now in 2023 coming back to the game to rough up ganon before totk
I really hope that Tears of the kingdom will allow post game gameplay to see how things are afterwards. Being able to interact with characters such as Zelda. Especially if there won’t be another Zelda game in the botw timeline afterwards.
This was fantastic. I was not expecting a voiceless video with only text. The way you wrote gave it a tone that I quite enjoyed. You made me smile and giggle a few times, and I could feel your passion especially when explaining the gold enemies post Ganon. I too, took forever to save Zelda but I got it done in 2019. I'm incredibly excited for the sequel and this video was exactly what I needed to help build more anticipation. Great job! 😊
Honestly this makes me feel so much better about going to fight Ganon. I was always too worried that if I beat him, I would miss out on some quests/not be able to get “100%” or wouldn’t be able to play on the same save file or something. Guess it’s time to just stop putting it off and finally finish what I started! Thanks for the motivation :)

I always hated that the people in Gerudo Village are still so nastly to link even *after* he saves the entire land of Hyrule
You filthy voe, you!
They still hate Men regardless, even if he saved them. I was mad I still couldn’t gain access to the Gerudo Village as a Voe.
It’s not a hatred of men. They are happy to date them or have a family with them, it’s just that they can’t enter the city. Some npc dialogue show that some of the women are just shy about talking to men and thus avoid conversation. Others are just apathetic, and there’s nothing wrong with indifference. Everywhere else in Gerudo is fine for men to travel, sleep, shop etc. Also some Gerudo villagers have dialogue which explicitly says they don’t care Link is male. It’s just the rule upheld, not necessarily the people against men.
I’m curious about what you meant by being nasty to Link? Isn’t it just the Chief’s right-hand man who treats Link with contempt? Hey, at least she’s consistent since she was an ass before Link’s gender was revealed.

I rescued Zelda twice, and happened to get the last memory in between the rescues, so I got the cutscene at the end of Zelda and Link. I was so excited to realize that you get a new cutscene about what happens next every time you beat the game! 😅
I procrastinated for 5 years, spending that time exploring the map and completeing everything else to the point where I thought I was ready to defeat ganon. Obviously, the quest was so hyped to the point that I thought it would be an extremely difficult task with a massive reward at the end. So, I enter the Castle literally shaking as I am terrified of the final boss and blah blah get through to the final ganon stage. I defeat him and enter the cutscene, by god that was such a good cutscene. I would have expected Zelda to come back and make her interactive within game. When the credits role and I found I am back at the entrance to the castle I was actually bewildered. I thought that the game didn't save so I defeated ganon AGAIN only to find out that there is no reward at the end. Clearly, Nintendo has a knack for trolling players and making them do daunting tasks for no rewards - as you can see with 900 korok seeds giving you a golden poo. I really do hope that the sequel has a more post game vibe and if not, atleast has a game after the end.
To be fair, I don’t think any ending could have lived up to a 5 year build-up. The game is massive but at some point it starts repeating itself and you can stop as you’ve basically seen everything. Youre a truly dedicated person

Not that I'll be going around killing all hinoxes and muldugas, but it's cool how you can still do a lot even after finishing the main objective.

Your insight into this game is so amazing. It's gotten me deciding to try and find the answers to my own questions about the game (such as how many shrines are completable before defeating any Divine Beast, etc) and it has been so fun to see all the cool things this game offers. Thanks for helping put that sparking that drive for me.
To go with what you were saying, about xp, I was walking around Hyrule getting all memories and killing lynels and plenty of enemy camps. I guess I acquired a lot of xp since I was fighting gold enemies before my first divine beast.
Yup, that's completely possible. Golden Bokoblins for example already show up at 2,285 XP and enemies like Guardian Stalkers or Skywatchers are 50 XP each. If you raid the castle and kill ten of each, you're already at 1k points. Red Lynels are also worth 50 XP each, and the stronger ones even more. (Red = 50, blue = 60, White =80, Silver = 120) So if you go on a Lynel killing spree on top of that, you'll end up with golden Bokos even without bosses.
Damn, my current save is about 110 hours deep, all shrines, divine beats, champions ballad and master trials complete and I still haven't had a silver enemy appear lol I'm definitely not doing as much combat as other people seem to
i understand in many way why there isnt a big change but it always made me so sad you couldnt enjoy a peaceful hyrule
the first two sentences was a direct attack, that's literally what happened with my own playthrough. i played on and off with varying levels of interest and intrigue and then decided i was too lazy to max out all my clothes (which was my original reason for not fighting ganon) after 5 years and went on to finally finish the game. i was disappointed with how little changed only because i wanted to see people free from worry in hyrule, but i'm not entirely upset about it really

It's kinda always been wild to me that people expected there to be a post game. Maybe I'm just an older gamer (despite only being 19 at the time of posting) but I didn't expect one at all, none of the previous Zelda games have so maybe that's why?
If you think it’s bad that you don’t get to see a “rebuilt” Hyrule, this is nothing compared to wind Waker, where the game restarts when you beat Ganondorf!

It makes sense for the game state to revert to not defeating Ganon, but they could have let the "Defeat Ganon" quest stay completed. I wonder if they only reverted it so you could use its map marker again. It also would have been nice if they let you keep the Bow of Light. Without it there's no reason for the missing inventory slot. Even if they were worried about it being overpowered (which wouldn't be a big deal since it's postgame!), they could have just given it durability/cooldown like the Master Sword
This was put together extremely well. I'm looking forward to future videos :)
Happy New Year!! I remember I was shocked back then when I defeated Ganon not because I didn't know (I grew up with no postgame too), but because since then I had already played a bunch of games with postgame so I was used to it and then it hit me... Zelda games usually don't have a postgame xD I didn't know about the tiny changes though, the defeated badge for minibosses makes my life easier though xD
There sort of were postgames. The very 1st Legend of Zelda had its 2nd quest mode. You start fresh but the dungeons' overworld locations and interiors are rearranged. You can unlock that right away if you enter ZELDA as your character name.
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link had a new game+ version where you start over but exp and spells carry over.
Wind Waker unlocks a new quest but the changes are mostly cosmetic. Link stays in his original clothes. Cutscenes with ancient Hylian are translated. Figurines in the gallery carry over.
Skyward Sword unlocks its harder Hero Mode. There are no recovery hearts so you must rely on potions, fairies, and places you can sit down. Enemies have higher health and hit harder. You do keep the fast charging Skyward Strikes.
@@burger_kinghorn ohhh that's interesting!!
@@starboretum BOTW could've easily had Master Mode be the postgame instead of a paid DLC. They just upgraded enemies and put the floating platforms.
I can understand Trial of the Sword and Champions Ballad as DLC, but not Master Mode itself.
@@burger_kinghorn yeah I agree, in fact I beat the game and I thought master mode was the postgame content until I read up a bit more about the DLC and noticed it wasn't (the DLC was a gift and I didn't check what it includes until after bearing the base game)
@@burger_kinghorn They still do what BOTW does, tho.
Wind Waker screwed me up reloading ny save after the final boss because I had two hours without saving... Had to redo the entirety of the castle.
i cried bc there was nothing after you beat the game, i worked hard to see what was after defeating ganon
I’ve always felt really confused as to why people complain that the world resets back to your last save after defeating Ganon???
This has happened in nearly every Zelda and Mario game, Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Mario 64, Mario Sunshine etc.
How would the developers even implement a post game? You would so easily be locked out of quests and locations.
Sorry, I’ve just always been confused by the discourse. I fully expected the game to end this way, just like when I first beat Ocarina of Time.
THE WAY I ACTUALLY PUT OFF DEFEATING GANON FOR LEGITIMATELY 5 YEARS BECAUSE I WANTED TO DO A SHIT TON OF SIDE QUESTS FIRST AND DIDNT KNOW I COULDNT PLAY MORE AFTER GANON UNTIL I BEAT IT
Huh, and here I thought I was the only one who still has not beaten ganon after 5 years and thousands of hours of playing this game.
"imagine you've put off fighting ganon for 5 years straight" buddy i dont gotta imagine it
What they should really do is make a memory mode. So you can finish the game and the world DOES change and we can do more in the world. And if you want to repeat the boss you can. Just like in Oot 3DS
Well there is the champions ballad quest. That’s basically what you’re looking for
"Wow! I beat the game! Let's see what the game looks like without all the malice!"
"Oh my god no they did not do me like that"
I vividly remember my first game ever being Zelda Twilight Princess. I fought Ganon about 5 times wondering if my game was bugged before looking it up and realizing the game won't let you "end". :,)
I was confused and disappointed, but I was also like “I haven’t done everything yet” so I proceeded to do basically everything except for koroks and really stupid stuff, but I did every shrine, did the dlc, (both) and became extremely overpowered lmao
I've had the same save file since I first got the game when I was around 9 I think, I still haven't even attempted to fight ganon. And after finding out that it does basically nothing, I probably won't ever since tbh at this point I just ride my horse around looking at the beautiful landscape.
6:28 “Its soft green glow puts a smile on your face”
Meanwhile Link:
I remember completely avoiding spoilers and waiting a good year or two before finally challenging Ganon, and yeah it was disappointing to not have anything new to do afterwards
Still a fantastic game nonetheless, can’t wait for the next
Still I wish that the end credits could show Hyrule rebuilt with fests in villages, new life in the castle...
I would love a NPC who break the 4th wall and says, "I know you saved us, thank you"
That enemy upgrade thing is also true for totk because now I see silver bokoblins everywhere
1:09 was my *exact* reaction when I was put back after the fight
I clicked this hoping I'd learn something new, but unfortunately, I already knew all this. The upside? The video was hilarious and a joy to watch/read all the same. Thank you very much and a (late) happy New Year to you too.
Are you SURE the completion counter is just for the map and not for the whole game? Maybe if you did a minimalist 100% run and uploaded weekly episodes for 6 months, I might believe you.
it’s not for the WHOLE game
There are multiple 100% completion counter speedruns on youtube, and all they do is exactly what what stated in the video, complete the map
I can attest to the fact that only certain things actually affect the counter and not everything that is normally tied to completion, and many others have found the same information to hold true, so yeah
Yeah, if only he did……
no one in this thread got the joke, huh?
I wish they gave us the option to like travel back and forth tho, maybe talking to the blood moon guy
like you could go back to fight monsters/ganon again and complete quests, but go forward to be in a peaceful Hyrule
Thanks for making this! I have indeed put of killing ganon all this time bc of fear that i couldn't complete everything else after. Really, thanks a lot!
This was a really informative and well-put together video.
Even though I knew there wouldn't really be any sort of post-game session after defeating Ganon, I still felt that it was such a bummer we didn't have anything big afterwards.
As someone who grew up playing the Battle Network games, this type of post-game made total sense to me. Some games would just need to be too radically different so this weird time-loop thing is the best compromise.
I don't think younger players were confused about the lack of postgame content (though theres a fair share of that) but that the game like, immediately boots you in the past. Most games end and that's it, you don't go back, the end screen happens and then you have to restart from the beginning if you want to play again. That's not feasible when it's an open world game with side quests and collections you worked for, so nintendo extends it, handing the game back to the player, but without attempts to change things (which is fair given the development time and effort that takes).
I genuinely wish that after ganon was defeated you could explore the ruins of hyrule without ganon being there
Bro the end just ended up turning into math class💀
I wish that once you like, fully 100% the game (not including koroks but including quests, memories, all map locations, every single miniboss defeated) and like once you get 99.999% and defeat ganon hyrule is rebuilt. sorry if i gave you a stroke i just woke up and my typing skills are waning
bro you literally answered my question with this video, thank you. i constantly wondered what happened after beating ganon bc when i first got the game i was too scared to, but now im just too occupied with how pretty everything is.
I really appreciate the effort and attention to detail you put in every single one of your videos. Thank you so much!
Well even after you beat ganon Marin is still trapped as a seagull forever. Maybe we need to fix that first.
266 days till I (redacted)
I think most of the content of the game was based on pre-defeating ganon, and that even going to hyrule castle should've been your last priority, since most gaming hours would've been spent on side quests, exploring etc
Especially since you can technically beat ganon within 10 mins of starting the game. It wouldnt make sense to create a post game for such a drastically nonlinear game
@@boserboser6870 why wouldn't it make sense? there's already a postgame, it's just not very good or fulfilling. man i sure do love beating every single miniboss in the game for absolutely no prize.
@@talullah1065 wouldnt make sense to change the world drastically after beating ganon. Because ganon can litterally be the first thing you beat.
Some extra quests maybe but. It cant lock you out of the original story quests etc.
I'll argue this. Breath of the wild doesnt need a post game. Not every game needs a post game. (Aside from pokemon... grumble grumble)
@@boserboser6870 why is your whining about pokemon not having a postgame any different? after i beat a good game, i want to keep playing it so a postgame is always nice. not this facade of a postgame that does basically nothing for you.
@@talullah1065 joke...
I just struggle to see what you want that isnt there already that wouldnt undermine massive parts of thr games development.
i had grinded the entire game but someone eventually sold it for a low price and i had to do it all over again
I was REALLY hoping Hyrule Castle would be open to explore with npcs roaming it after Ganon was defeated, I didn’t spoil anything for myself so I was super upset when nothing came afterwards
"5 years later" I feel attacked
It would be neat if maybe the game doesn’t respawn the weaker bokoblins and other classes but there are overall less enemies. Maybe some quests from a society that wants to retake castle town and there is at least some progression. Maybe it could lead into the sequel with malice though weakened is still out in the world of hyrule
Thank you! This clears up so many loose ends that I’ve had for 6 years!
I'm pretty sure I've seen top-tier silver/gold enemies pre-Ganon fight, on at least one playthrough
beat ganon on the first week i got botw. After that I was just like THATS IT! but then i realised there was still so much to do with the sidequests and other things i wished to collect.
God, this is me. I just picked up the game after a few years about a week ago, and have gotten a bit done. Thank you for this so I know what to expect and not be disappointed
i dont know why but i became so happy when you added nago, i'm just a huge fan of princess mononoke
That’s the main think I’m hoping for in totk to see hyrule not in shambles and maybe a quest to help rebuild castle town
i lost the hylian shield during my fight with thunderblight and I thought it was gone forever, then I loaded the save and it was back. I was so happy lol
Tears of the Kingdom IS the post game theyve been working so hard on for the past 6 years. If they just made something simpler it'd be a bit of a letdown, and if the monsters and bokoblins disappeared then the game would be too easy. So it's much better this way.
Why are you separating Bokoblins and other monsters
@@minaashido518 Bokoblin racism
Im still shocked how many people expected any different. I get it if your new to zelda but many "long time fans" were somehow surprised the game didnt continue
When I killed ganon the first time I was soooo happy. Then, after the credits and everything, it took me back to before the fight. I was so confused and also VERY mad 😂
Then I found out it technically never finished 😑
"Imagine you've put off defeating Ganon for 5 years straight" - I literally did this. I have the rest of the game complete except that - they had announced the DLC that improved the Master Sword and I decided I wanted to kill Ganon with the new sword... and then just never got the DLC and never went back to it.
I do wish at the end you could see Hyrule bereft of the blight so that certain things can be appreciated. But I also would love to see things in their heyday so as to full appreciate this magnificent depiction of Hyrule like other before save for maybe _Twilight Princess._ Wouldnreally like a prequel that wasn’t simply _Age of Calamity._
I cant even get near the castle as gaurdians are my kryptonite in this game. Only time i ever managed to reflect that obnoxious lazer beam is by accident 😅
