My son fell asleep on me and the remote is on the other couch with a 10 minute commercial playing! I hope you appreciate me Brad haha
LOL! Sorry man... I can't believe they play 10 minute commercials, that would bother me too. Hope your son got a good nap in!
😂😂
Just sent the link to the element 50 to a friend and he sent a link to this video back to me and said “Brad recommends it”, and I was like “yea dude, I just watched the video too!” thanks for the rad content B-rad 😎
Hey Brad, great video with a ton of good information! Just wanted to thank you for your service to our country. Best wishes and keep pumping out the amazing content.
Much appreciated!
So true Brad. Knowing where everything is helps tremendously. I had my JL dialed in so nicely! Now Im trying to figure out what to do with my (new to me) LJ.
I had no idea you are a Retired Master Chief. Outstanding. DC2 here - hoorah!
I always wanted a trasharoo then found a RUCKAROO on a tj forum. Scored a brand new factory defective rucksack from DRMO and now have a ruckaroo! All for the price of free 99 even with a grenade pouch and a new factory defective IFAK too ( I use it to hold spare straps and clips)
I bought the tool bag a couple years ago after seeing it here. It is in the top 5 purchases I've made for my jeep and prob the most used. The Element fire extinguisher will probably be a hit as well. I'm really happy to get rid of the bottle on my roll bar. Thanks for profiling the solutions!
Storage and organization are some of the most important parts of heading out
Great job Doc. The number of people that own molle is MUCH HIGHER than the number of people who know how to use it!
Thank you for your service Marine!
Cornered Patriot he was in the navy
@@eutimiochavez415 The globe and anchor threw me.
Thanks nonetheless!
Like you I have to keep everything organized. I think that this comes from our medical backgrounds where our medical bags, cabinets (ER especially) and ambulance interiors are well organized. I have the OneTigris molle panel to organize my pouches on the passenger seat back which is essentially my headboard when I sleep in the Jeep SUV. On the back of the driver's seat is a large Mossy Oak backpack, about 55 liters, filled with extra warm layers: fleece jackets, rain gear, gloves, extra socks, wool watch caps, balaclava, neck gaiters, merino wool under layers and an XL reflective vest and reflective wrist bands. My fire extinguisher is stored in a long molle pouch on the door side of the backpack. All of the necessary gear I need are stored in two Doublez trunk organizers with four separate compartments: (1) cooler, water bottles (one is insulated) (2) stove and other kitchen paraphernalia (3) hammock, tarp, underquilt, top quilt, other accessories, a OneTigris Bungalow 2.0 tent and (4) extra wool blanket, military poncho, woobie, alpaca wool bag liner and a Helikon Tex Swagman Roll. Cargo nets came with the each Doublez organizer to prevent items from flying out. Each organizer has side pockets to place gear such as knives, sling shot, ammo, multitool, fire kits, etc. If I take my refrigerator and Jackery, they will go on the pax seat and floor. I converted an old CPAP bag into a trauma kit. I have a cargo basket on the roof with a waterproof, supposedly, cargo bag and that's where I'll pack a Mr. Buddy Heater, a tent cot, extraction kit and a 6X10 Jeep awning with tent poles. The shovel and and recovery boards are mounted on the sides of the cargo basket. Survival tools, kits, ax, Silky saws and a collapsible snow shovel are in the spare tire well. A headlamp is wrapped around each head restraint of the front seats. I carry a yoga mat for under carriage maintenance and ensure the Hokena (magnetic) emergency flashers are mounted on all four corners of the Jeep when I perform any maintenance..
Hey Brad! I have that same molle panel! If you're driving solo, flip it around and it can be more accessible in the front pasanger seat. Be safe!
Great timing! We did a week long trip over the holidays and realized we need to have a better storage system. There aren’t many options for the Grand Cherokee so I’ll be building my own. Really like the MOLLE system!
I think the molle system has a lot of potential for many folks
The standard Yakima style roof box is so underrated.
Depends on the type of trails you do. I used to run a ‘ski box’ as I called it and ended up breaking it on a tight, tippy trail by hitting it into a tree
That’s probably what I’m gonna go with. You’ll be able to store way more things in there versus one of those plastic boxes.
We have a SportRack version. At 5'-7" I could just about use it as a RTT, lol. Joking aside, pretty cost effective dirty/wet storage.
Totally agree with you already weatherproof too
Another great video, and good timing too. I'm trying to take advantage of the time and redo my storage setup. On an unrelated side note, I love how your videos end as soon as you're done. I don't have to sit through 40 seconds of blank screen until the video is over.
Actually glad you bought a powerwagon.. ive already got my build planned for mine.. but always open to different ideas, cheers 🍻
I was just online looking for storage solutions for my jeep. Perfect timing!
Perfect!
The Element Fire Extinguisher info was perfect. needed something smaller I could mount at the driver position. 140 lb. Bloodhound has command of the cargo area.
2019 jl. I bought suparee roll bar saddle bag. From amazon. Wow they have a lot of storage more than I expected. They hold a lot of weight for recovery gear
Nice video Doc!!!...nice 7th Comm BAS guidon. I was with 7th Comm MT in 1999-2001.
Kitting out my FJ and trying to figure out what works and what doesnt. My Subaru was a but different and more challenging honestly. Currently doing a mix of soft/hard cases. I have soft molle panels with pouches on the backs of my seats which is great for some things! Now its more or less figuring out recovery gear. Im thinking my roam adventure box, (cant remember the size) but its quite large and deep on the roof rack. We shall see.
Brad I see that you were a corpsmen, could you please tell us more about that part of your life. Just think that you are very proud of that part of your life. Thanks for all the show's.
I hope one day get my full jeep like you.and traveling around the world.
I enjoying watch your videos.
Good luck.
Peace.
Great video Brad, love the look of those Roam boxes, unfortunately I can’t get them here in 🏴 England so can you stick one in the post, pretty please 😂😂😂
I like those little bags, with the straps..and name tags...good idea..
Vets know how to do it best. Great video!
Also I prefer bartact seat covers. The Molle on the back and sides are awesome
Another great video. I got that Blue Ridge Overland tool bag after seeing your video a while back. Great bag. Most compact solution for the tools I carry vs anything else I tried and fits perfectly where I needed it to go. Excellent build quality as well.
My tool bag has been beaten and banged up and holding up so well... very impressed with it as well.
I am sure you know that Blue Ridge Overland is based in Bedford, VA as you have done business with them. In case you don't know, Bedford is home to the National D-Day Memorial. This small south western VA town, about 4 hours from DC , was chosen for this national memorial (which honors all allied forces) because the 23 men they lost in the Normandy campaign represented the largest per capita loss of life of any town in the U.S.
Great video. I carry a Milwaukee battery impact wrench and it is a beast. I guarantee you I am getting any lug nuts off when I need to, plus I carry a set of tourque sticks so I can set the right tourque for the lugs. I noticed in your garage you have one of those magnetic parts holder bowls, that is great to have in the field too so all the parts you take off are kept together. I was with a guy once changing an axle in a boulder field and he kept dropping parts that disappeared between the boulders never to be seen again.
I drive a 1964 cj5 willys on 30s” tires. Gonna have a roof rack for tools, firewood, etc. then im building a 60s teardrop camper for camping, haul my kitchen, bedding, solar, etc
I’ve watched your and your helpful hint over the years, but one thing that I’d like to get your opinion is this… Should you carry spare parts in your vehicle for emergencies, if you’re going to be out in the woods for weeks or months, or on expedition to a foreign country, where parts may not be available? And what parts would you carry? Lightbulbs, fan belts, etc…..
That fire extinguisher is very cool,
Interested to see how you mount the roam box. I am interested in picking one up but don't like the idea of having to drill into the box to mount it to the roof.
I'm glad you brought up the Power Wagon. I've been trying to figure out what I'm going to do with a oversized spare tire. Hoping you wind up covering that as anything bigger than a 35 doesn't fit in the factory location.
Awesome I've been shopping around for those molle seat organizers not bad in price lot of options 😀
Master Chief?! Navy alumni myself! Right on!
Yes, retired. Thanks for your service!
@@TrailRecon Hooya brother, in Rancho Cucamonga. Maybe see you on the trail!
Your videos are always so well done and informative. Thanks for sharing with us. 😊
Been binge watching your videos, they are awesome man! Really love how you put together the overland videos! keep it up brother
Molle panel tip- if you don’t have a passenger you can swing it around so it’s on the front of the seat. Or have two. One on front and one on back
Excellent suggestion!
The wait for the power wagon vids is excruciating.
I really enjoy these types of videos. I like the Molly set up on the seat back, I've been meaning to do something like that but haven't gotten around to it yet. I have most of my smaller stuff tucked into the door pockets in my 4Runner, those are pretty handy for these things.
Also excited to see you giving the element fire extinguisher is shot, I've been meaning to pick up a fire extinguisher for my rig, and I recently saw this one and thought it looked like a great option. I'd be interested in a more in-depth review of it if you get a chance.
Live full time in my 4-runner. Need a better extinguisher answer than the standard which are fine and cheap but large and too easily activated accidentally. Got an Element. Seems to be the answer to my issue. Very small, can’t be accidentally activated but not cheap. They claim to last longer and more efficiently put out fire. No test results, sorry but hope to never need it.
@@johnbonnell5463 thank you for the information! I think I'll pick one up for mine. It's a requirement to go out with some of the off-road clubs in my area, but I think it's just a good thing to have in general. Also, would love to see your set up in your 4Runner, do you have a channel or an Instagram with photos?
No social media, sorry. I’m very stock, large Yakima basket roof with capability to carry my Mtn bike, plastic Target drawer system. Good sleeping pad when not tenting.5 years on the road, 206k miles. My version of retirement! Good luck and happy travels in your rig!
@@johnbonnell5463 sounds good! That's kind of my goal with mine, especially about the storage for mountain bike stuff. I still have close to 20 years to go, but it's pretty much my retirement dream too. Enjoy your travels!
Great video storage is always a on going process I have yet to figure a solution to my wife’s 20 suitcases of clothes 😳🤪🤪 have to check out the fire extinguisher really great idea good stuff as always be safe 👍👍
LOL! My wife is the same way!
The softboxes are great, you can label them but you can also buy the bags or softboxes with a clear top then you can see what's in them.
I love the roam rugged cases
Another great video! Glad you got the molle explanation right this time lol
Thanks Brad, Now I have to figure out how they can send that fire extinguisher out here to Okinawa!
Legend. I love these kinds of videos.... always great new ideas pal
Love my Jeep but wow, space is a serious issue. Getting a FrontRunner rack so after the RTT is installed I will still have the area above the freedom tops for a box like those ROAM.
Brad thanks for the seatback storage solutions.
I have a full-size bronco and have way to much crap in the back. I have a big tote with recovery gear and some other stuff, a smaller case with spare parts and fluid and a 300 piece tool set and 3 other bags of tools and a 20lb Co2 tank. Need to consolidate some of this stuff
I'm always going though the same thing. When I relealize I haven't used something for a while, I have to have an honest conversation with myself if I actually need it.
Thanks Brad! This is giving me tons of ideas for a platform storage system for my XJ!
Murder Spork! I just ordered one. Man you give us so many great ideas!
Thank you for putting out another great video Brad
My pleasure!
Hey Brad I’m 14 and I’m looking to buy a 2004 Jeep TJ and I was wondering what I would need to do to run 35s. I don’t if I have to re-gear or get new axles and stuff like that. Also if I wanted to ride some mildly difficult trails what lift brand or size would your recommend. I’m trying to get a general idea of the cost of everything thing. Great video too really helpful.
start small and work up. I started with 33's, on steel wheels, and a 3in (i think) lift from quadratec
@@kevinmcdonnell1694 Thank you, much appreciated
For a tj you probably will want to regear for 35s. Should be fine on stock axles though
@@nickpaul9066 Thank you much appreciated
Honestly, with a TJ, don't be in a hurry to go lift and go larger tires. Get out and enjoy it, learn it's capabilities and then see if you really need to go larger. A lot of complexity, handling and upgrades required when you jump to 35's. I would take a look at Teraflex, Rock Krawler or Sky Jacker for the lift
I have been looking for a really low profile rack because I am getting close to my garage door height on my 2020 JLU. When you held up the measuring tape to your rhino rack it looked like about 5.5" above the hard top. Is that about right? I think I have about 6.5" of clearance left so that may work for me. I also like that rack because it looks like it would still allow me to take the hard top off on nice San Diego summer days.
Great video Brad. Love all the storage options
Right on!
Thanks a lot Brad, I just added a bunch of crap to my Amazon shopping list! LOL
Good video! Keep them coming! 👍✌️😊🇺🇸 Semper Fi 1968-1972.
Great video. Working on modding my first Jeep vehicle
Right on!
I absolutely love how the build is coming along. Great Job as usual
Brad, Good morning. Hope this this note finds you and your family well. I’ve been binge watching your videos and made myself a list of things I need. Quick question. Any reason why you don’t have a Tailgate cargo rack? Keep up the great videos. I’ve found them informative in helpful. Take care, Joe
Brad I saw you use a refrigerator in your Jeep, I was wondering do you leave it in there all the time, and can it stay on at all times even if the vehicle is turned off?
As far as a fridge goes, would you say it’s more cost and storage efficient to use a plug in cooler or a giant 148 qrt cooler strapped to a luggage rack using ice?
Awesome. The right way to store.mollee!!!
Awesome Master Chief!!!
Thank you kindly
Great timing! I need some bags for storing gear in a new 4runner! Thank you
Well organized u must of been in the service thank you for your service
It would be interesting to find out how people are securing their gear against theft. What do you do if you want to go on a hike?
Always benefit from your videos.... Keep treking!!!!
Hey Brad, great breakdown of your storage solutions! You definitely inspired me to purchase a Jeep :P I got a 2 door because I love the size but it's definitely more limiting in terms of what I can pack and carry with me.
You made the right choice with a 2 door! I love mine.
Some good information here Brad. Thanks!
Love that GooseGear. My doggo doesn’t like the seat & I’ve been considering removing the 60% seat. Thanks for the tip!
What kind of roof rack is on your red jeep in the background here? Looking for that exact one.
Great Vid, Brad! Thanks
Great gear review.
Glad you liked it!
Great video as always Brad
I appreciate that!
always great suggestions and options Brad!
Brad could you go into more detail on how the Roam boxes mount to the roof rack?
Okay, ya brought up the power wagon. I gave up my 3500 with every whistle known to man for the jeep life. What do you think is a better overland camping vehicle?
What about Securing those ROAM (roof boxes) from being pried open ?
Do you have any ideas to do an updated version of this video? Thanks!
What are some ways to store battle rifles in an overland vehicle?
Nice job Brad!!!!
Thanks!
Maybe I missed it, but what happened to the James Baroud roof top tent? Are you using a ground tent again?
Do you think that 52l Roan case could be used to stand on?
Best roof rack option for a soft top jk? 2door..
That is a great looking roof rack. I like the low profile, to many racks sit way to high. I really like tool bag, but it is no longer available according to Amazon. Any other options you like in replacement of it?
What benefits does the goose gear platform offer that you can’t get from just folding down your seat?
Nice solution!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
How did you mount/secure the case to the rack?
Brad how do you indeed to secure the Roam Boxes to you Pioneer platform. Looking at a similar set up for my Pioneer platform on my 2020 Rubicon. Ratchet straps or actually bolting them to the rack?
Great Video! Question, How are you powering your fridge? From what I’ve seen the diesel does not have enough room for a dual battery system under the hood. Also Black Rifle Coffee is the BE ST. Glad to see you not only have great tastes in vehicles, but in coffee as well. Keep up the great work!
love your videos where would you mount your weapons shotgun side arm ? please advise cheers.
Where did you get the soft boxes and that long tan hard box. I looked down below and didn't find any information on anything.
How do you attach the roam boxes to the roof rack? Been looking into them but haven’t really found much
See the USN hat and FMF BAS guidon, guessing Corpsman. Blue side or green side? Either way, Semper Fi Doc.
Brad was probably a Tetris player back in the day.
Def Leppard, Pyromania! Nice!
Rock on!
F-F-F-Foolin 🤘🏻
Great video. Very informative
Hi Brad, how are you mounting those roam cases to the rhino rack platform rack? Straps? Bolts?
