    I’ll tell you this!
    When in Iraq as a Marine, we used the mess out of baby wipes! All I asked for while there was baby wipes and socks.
    The heat and our crappy combat boots wore socks out faster than anything I’ve ever seen.
    I went through 2 pairs of boots while I was there, ended up with so many socks that I would wear them and throw them away if we stayed out the wire for longer than 5 days.
    Longest damn camping trip I’ve ever been on.
    We had 2 Marines that had hygiene problems.
    We pretty much hazed them in to showering.
    Oh and we came back to the states we didn’t get to change until we got back to our barracks, so flying from Kuwait all the way back to cherry point we all had the same socks on during that time, when we got to Pennsylvania we had to exit the plane and tsa made us take our boots off so they could make sure we didn’t have anything we weren’t supposed to!! We said are you sure you want all of us to take our boots off?!
    Lmao “well y’all better break out the Lysol because it’s bout to get bad up in this mfer”

      Yes and no. There is definitely a place for high quality products. Are there less expensive ways to do things, yes. I have my recover boards attached to my prinsu rack with carriage bolts, washers and wing nuts. Does it work, yes. Do I hate taking all 4 wing nuts off to access the recovery boards, yup. Every damn time. If you can afford the finer things that pay 400 to avoid the aggravation of wing nuts. I’m not there yet, but definitely getting closer. 😂😂

The cost of 5 seasons of Trail Bag #2 is 5 x $45 or $225. So, even if we could get 6 seasons out of Trail Bag #1, it's still cheaper to buy the Trail Bag #2. Yes and no. I have tried for years to do Overlanding on the cheap thinking the same thing you do. There are some things that you can save money on and some things that you have to pay the price once or pay a cheaper price 3,4,5 times. Take my refrigerator for instance. It’s an amazing Iceco 65L fridge that cost me about 400. At the time it made more sense than paying 1000 for a same size dometic. After a years worth of trips the fridge is starting to have issues. Now I’m going to buy a dometic for 1000. I could have saved 400 by paying the 1000 initially. Now don’t get me wrong. You don’t have to buy the most expensive Icon Suspension when the Ironman 4x4 is such a good value. I’d rather pay double for an item that lasts 3 times longer.

    • @fongvang935
      @fongvang935 2 года назад +4

    Overlanders need the best gear. They spend so much time stuck in the mountains they better be prepared to stay. Their rigs are always over weight and usually top heavy. I see it near me all the time, luckily there’s enough good ol boys in real 4wd rigs around to yank them out or the hills would be littered with remains of Toyotas with $100 trash bags on their spare.
