  • The Removal and Cleaning of the SSV in a 2004 Mazda RX8.
I realized when doing this Cleaning that the Coolant in this Car was not the correct coolant therefore it was discarded and replaced with proper coolant for the engine.

I love that a party started in the background audio.

Just finishing up my ssv too, I had to loop some rope around it a pull it out slowly. Spray throttle cleaner on it as it comes out.

How were you able to remove the SSV without removing the lower thermostat housing as well? The 04's must be different because on my 05' the lower thermostat housing is blocking the path and the SSV it too long to take out with it in the way.

hey, thanks! this helps a lot. :) do you know what code it set? I have a 2006 RX8 with code P0661 and wondering if that is what you had? and if replacing the SSV is what is needed for code 661. ?

hey buddy i just bought an 04 for 1,000 dolars
engine does not start due to overheating
what do you recomend me? rebuild that engine or to buy an ebay engine?

Carlos roberto ebay engines are not reliable for the money. over heating means water seals are failing if coolant levels are depleting with no obvious leaks. rebuild the engine you have if compression is good.

Carlos roberto if the engine failed due to overheating then you should source an engine locally that you can do a compression test on.
