Ajus Lucky interesting, I’m playing on hard and these mongols apparently smell me from 40 meters, the characters always react when they see someone dead on the floor and now the whole outpost is alerted. Weird that people are having different experiences. Still amazing game
They should have added a warning sign so we could know like make the horn louder and they should say something like *THERES A BODY* or is that too much
Ubisoft cares more about profits than making an immersive experience. They spend 2 years at most on AC games whereas Sucker Punch spent over 5 years on Ghost of Tsushima. It is greed and laziness that has held AC back from becoming a great series
And Valhalla will be continue the trash process. Reusing environmental grids, some of the most boring side missions an RPG can have, and a completely dead story.
@@nah6892 I agree, I feel Jin's story is wrapped up but maybe a William Wallace esque story where you have a claymore would be awesome, or a Robin hood type game.
@@AngeMaru486 I always do that on my second playthrough of games. Like God Of War, I first played by just focusing on Main Missions and the occasional side mission, then when I 100% my first save, I replay knowing where everything important or good is.
None of the repetitive missions or "follow" sequences bother me at all. The feeling of living in this world is just so fantastic that I'm in full immersion mode and enjoying every second.
Yeah I agree, I feel follow mission can be unnecessary in video games but you are a shinobi in this gams. Shinobis’ historically were used for recon. They would’ve absolutely been trailing people back then and gathering info on people. It fits the setting and they arent overly frustrating in this game. So yeah I would disagree with him on that point.
I dint know why but I as well wasn't bothered. I was expecting to be annoyed but its not like assassin creed black flag where you have to either move at a snails pace or keep up with a target thats started to get away. Its not many trail mission but even when you do them in this game you can go at your pace mostly and its quite enjoyable.
ThiccDonut yes but a samurai can be a shinobi too. In fact many samurai were shinobis. Shinobis were created in the Sengoku Period so more then likely Jin is an early descendant of a shinobi in his “ghost” form in the Kamakura Period. But it’s kinda confusing bc being a Samurai is more of a social class and being a shinobi is a job. So Jin is playing as both.
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite games of all time, I'm not even joking. Call me crazy but I actually like the camera, reminds me of action games like Ninja Gaiden 2 where you have to be spatially aware of enemies and your surroundings because the camera is so bad lol
I actually liked the fact there was no lock-on in GOT... Although I do think the camera could've been done way better, I wouldn't have traded it in for a lock-on feature tho.
Yeah I watched the stream and he was complaining about the camera when he is clearly doing fine. I was not understanding why he was ranting on the camera lol
honestly, idk why everyone is comparing this to Sekiro, Nioh, or AC... if anything it reminds me more of Way of the Samurai, or an open world Onimusha.
Personally, I can find many connections to this game and AC (After all, when I was first playing, the first thoughts that came to mind was that it's a lot like AC) but I can't see Sekiro or Nioj, other than the time era.
It's AC if it was great, Batman Arkham stealth and free flow combat with a TINY bit of Sekiro influence. They basically copied the guard breaking system from Sekiro. It's just a lot easier. None of this is bad by the way. Sucker Punch exceled at implementing the mechanics of the games which inspired it. That being said there's nothing really innovative in it. Just an incredibly consistent quality experience from start to end.
Definitely a 9 out of 10 for me. I haven't been this in love with a game for a long time. The world is just so alive and the combat is very exciting. I haven't used fast travel yet because i thoroughly enjoy traveling. The devs made love to this game and it shows
I love how Charlie can completely go all out shitting on certain aspects of a game that he passionately hates but can also still focus on what he loved and give it an honest rating on all its aspects as a whole
I value Charlie's thoughts on a game, but I don't really find his overall value and "goodness" of a game to be consistent. His thoughts have evidence and are put together well. But, when it comes at the end to rating the game it just doesn't make sense. The reviews aren't consistent at all and he docks points for small reasons and let's big things slide, which leads to a number that doesn't really communicate what he said in the video. Basically kind of like IGN, except with IGN you know they are just always inflated, Charlie's numbers are just everywhere. However, I still generally like his reviews and his thoughts on new games.
@@rahilshaik1603 I dont see a lot of evidence in his reviews though. Hes kinda just like " [ certain subject of game poopy] " but doesnt have a lot to back up his statements with.

He exagerrated basically every complaint in the most extreme way imaginable. Hes like the asmongold of reaction channels. I honestly disagree with all his points, i think hes lying about the stealth bit as well as the camera. I've had zero issues with either.
@@DeathmetalPersian he got it on launch and so did I and those problems were there actually. the game was really easy even on hard on launch. the camera honestly does fuck you up sometimes, but if you can move it in time so you can see it's fine. it just never helps and does get annoying.
Charlie, I'm still playing the first zone of the game. I avoided watching anything on youtube regarding Tsushima but couldn't help but click on your vid. Heard the first sentence you had to say about the game and paused to comment this. I can already say this game is pure squirt and moisture, will watch the rest once I finished it.
Gonna disagree with a few points. 1) Not reacting to dead bodies. - Well, they do. I shot a guy and when his body was found they started a search for me. 2) Not reacting to arrow shots. - Well, again, they do react. If you miss them, they will go the source of the noise and after the arrow is found, they try to search for you from the direction you shot. If arrow hit, then they will run to the place you shot from immediately. 3) Forced gamestyle in missions. - Yeah, I wanted to be a honorable samurai, but game forces you a couple of times to do it dirty. But I encountered it in only in mission which introduces techniques - stealth kills and poison darts. In other missions game let's you play the full-on samurai, even when it demands stealth. For example, you can show yourself to the couple of enemies and kill them in honorable fight before they raise the alarm. 4) About 15 seconds with "leaving mission area". - It's so rare, actually. Almost every mission can be interrupted, you can go whenever you want or even start another mission and all your progress will be saved. Game gives you a lot of freedom in that way. 5) Trailing missions. - I do agree, that this is annoying in most games, but in Ghost of Tsushima in 90% of the time NPC will adjust it's speed to yours. You can see it in a video, when Charlie starts sprinting NPC does too. It rarely limits your speed to slow walking. And speed adjust works on a horseback too. And mind you, it's in the mission where you follows an NPC and game let's you decide what the speed would be in moist cases. I do agree and support other points. And yes. THE FUCKING CAMERA. 6) Although, I like auto-soft lock on in combat in this game. For 99% it works flawlessly. But the camera can't handle it, yeah.
Yup, they even have an upgrade to silence your arrows because if you miss it will alert anyone near. And all they had to do was use sekiros lock on feature because it's perfect. Don't like the soft lock on.
@@iHaveTheDocuments I prefer no lock on, I like that you can focus on multiple enemies, but the camera is fucked, especially when one enemy is in front of the enemy that is attacking so you can’t tell if you need to dodge or parry
I know that this is a kind of old thread but if you headshot enemies that have helmets on they will act surprised but go back to what they were doing, as if they completely forgot that they just got shot at. So that's probably what Mr.Moisty was referring to
The ending to this game is the only game that literally brought me to tears. The conflicting ideologies between Jin and Shimura, but also your own, it's just boggling how beautiful and deep a game can go.
i always thought the point of jin's character was to strike a balance between the ghost's brutality and his uncle's honor. that's how i played the game. i only started to realize where jin's worldview lies after remembering him say "i am the ghost." that made my choice easier at least.
8:48 This was also done in Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, you may be surprised to hear but most people hated it, but we got used to it fast enough, so it was fine, but it always felt like something was missing.
@Joseph Moquin I didnt know that but it sure worked out. I still play dragons dogma to this day. I hope the next project truly is dd2 since they made devil may cry 5 first based off of what would be better to work on.
Coming to this after directors cut release, they fixed the camera so well. They added a lock on, see through walls in combat, and the lethal difficulty makes everything much better
Sometimes I feel like liked we played two different games. The enemies always notice whatever I do in stealth. Maybe Charlie got lucky with the AI but I've found the game to be more difficult than he makes it out to be even when abusing stealth mechanics.
Really confusing especially what other reviewers said, the AI is just fine they actually cooperate when someone gets killed and actually looks on the grass you last came when you missed an arrow. Other than that you could still cheese them by just running away and hiding fast just like how other games with stealth work.
He literally change the difficulty to medium! For me I’m playing it on hard mode.goddam! it is difficult on stealth and in combat! It makes it even better to play on hard mode
@@sadbrocky7856 it isn’t hard on the second hardest difficulty it is just the only difficulty that makes the game enjoyable as every other difficulty is a cakewalk
Jim Sterling said, in his review, that when he saw an open world bandit camp he would actually get excited about clearing it out. That plus Charlie's thoughts has me pretty much sold on it, I'm in.

To me it speaks volumes about the quality of the game.
This is 3 weeks old so maybe there's been bug fixes, but virtually none of the problems he's talking about are present. Enemies notice dead bodies, notice arrows, and I'm almost done with the game and I think there's been maybe 2 tail missions, and they're super short. Overall its a fantastic game and if you're debating picking it up, I say do it. I haven't had this much fun with a video game in a long time.
I usually ride with Charlie on these ones but this review feels like he played a totally different game to me! The way fast travel and exploration synergize is AMAZING, i love that locations have a discovery radius in case you're at an awkward angle, and you can just fast travel on the right path.
I think the stealth early on is easy but once you get into the end of Act one and beginning of act 2 it turns up. Enemies will spot dead bodies and sound an alarm putting everyone on watch for you. Because there are so many enemies, it’s hard to get one guy alone, especially later in the game where the war camps and castles are huge and packed full of enemies

i think the hidden gem of this game is the charms. they made it so that you'll have incentive to track those down because it'll help you do cool stuff. i couldn't care less about collectible items and clothing, but man, i was suck in to finding those resolve and terrify charms.
Man I love the fact it's like the developer seen this video. Because the PC version that just came out not so long ago fixes most of Charlies complaints. The camera is good, there is a lock on, the stealth is fixed and You alert the enemy WAY faster.
3:58 i Wonder if you had some bug going on or since then there was a patch, cause i've started playing the game only like 2 days ago. And each time there's a corpse on the ground, if its in the Line of Sight of an enemy, they will rush to where the corpse is, look around and then sound the alarm, and its a consistent behavior i've been seeing in the game, but i've seen other reviewers who played the game since Day1 who also says that the IA isn't that great, even tho if i'm not carefull, enemies are litteraly juggling my arse into the air... So i suspect there was a patch of some sort after launch?
I've been playing the day 1 version sesns I go the game due to my internet sucking. And the AI is Good imo enemy's notice bodys, stealth is hard at times.
I got the platinum trophy on the hardest difficulty, and I gotta say the camera was rarely a bother while playing. When enemies swarm you it gets annoying, but I think it makes it more realistic as having like 10 guys on you should probably kill you and get a bit confusing. Also, enemies always notice and blow on their horn when you find a body, and every other enemy in the area comes over, but what he said about enemies barely noticing you and being pretty stupid is true. Can’t believe he didn’t mention exploration though. Besides the big main quest sieges and battles that’s the best part of the game
3:30. Where did his guy get his info? Yes stealth is kinda superficial and enemies have easy patterns but enemies do notice dead bodies and notice if you kill other enemies. What are you talking bout?
2:23 So you're telling me... That one time I got demolished by that big armored guy during the Tale of Ishikawa, Ishikawa could've NOT stood there like a schmuck and let me die?
during most of act 3 and postgame i actively dodged mongol patrols and only went for the bases because 1. the rewards were almost useless (at best 50 materials and a minuscule amount of xp) and 2. i barely got to engage with the combat because with my perks and sakai clan armor i killed all the enemies during the standoff
Honestly, this game reminded me a lot of Metal Gear Solid. Absolutely amazing and most definitely a work of art. Not only did the game accomplish realism, but it went a step further and was fun.
I like the game a lot more than I thought I would. It only looked "meh" to me at first(besides visually), but I wanted a new game to play. Really loving it now though. Only complaint is when you are following a bird and it gets stuck in a building.
Those birds are a great idea to avoid markers everywhere, but sometimes they just derp the hell out But in my experience, if they get stuck in a building, they will teleport if you go past the building in the direction they were going.
Did the enemy ai get an upgrade between this video and now? Because I just finished my first playthrough of ghost (ps5 version) and the enemies pay more attention to their surroundings. They would react to a lot of different things. It made the stealth a lot of fun. I liked all the options i had at my disposal to mess with the enemies
So the stealth I think is a lot better now especially in the later game the enemy developed a system where they and a buddy will partner up and watch each others backs
For me it was a 9.5! I LOVED the game but I do agree the stealth is pretty bad in some areas and the camera angles are really bad sometimes! Good review!!
I can't be the only one just saying "the camera" over and over again louder and louder like some sort of PTSD flashback coming on as soon as he started talking about "the biggest problem with the game"
Very minor spoiler: The amount of times you leave someone you are helping to go find something they need only to come back and find them dead is staggering.
Now, I played this game more recently, but when he started to describe the stealth, that doesn’t sound like anything what I experienced. Hell they got pissed even if a dog was found killed. Maybe it was a bug/flaw that got patched. No idea. The rest is pretty spot on though.

Ubisoft cares more about profits than making an immersive experience. They spend 2 years at most on AC games whereas Sucker Punch spent over 5 years on Ghost of Tsushima. It is greed and laziness that has held AC back from becoming a great series

Link Joestar You're a samurai, not a shinobi, but both did recon, so your point still stands
ThiccDonut but you’re right, Jin isn’t a shinobi as they weren’t created yet.

honestly, idk why everyone is comparing this to Sekiro, Nioh, or AC... if anything it reminds me more of Way of the Samurai, or an open world Onimusha.
Ac only
Sekiro - Music
Nioh - Stances
AC - Feels like it
The game mechanically offers nothing new but the mechanics were executed well.
Personally, I can find many connections to this game and AC (After all, when I was first playing, the first thoughts that came to mind was that it's a lot like AC) but I can't see Sekiro or Nioj, other than the time era.
For me it reminds me of The Witcher more than anything. The patience in combat and quick changes you need to make in a second.

That's what journalism ought to be. I can't even say that is what it used to be though.

But the camera can't handle it, yeah.
facts
Yup, they even have an upgrade to silence your arrows because if you miss it will alert anyone near. And all they had to do was use sekiros lock on feature because it's perfect. Don't like the soft lock on.
Lol "moist" cases.
@@iHaveTheDocuments I prefer no lock on, I like that you can focus on multiple enemies, but the camera is fucked, especially when one enemy is in front of the enemy that is attacking so you can’t tell if you need to dodge or parry

The ending to this game is the only game that literally brought me to tears. The conflicting ideologies between Jin and Shimura, but also your own, it's just boggling how beautiful and deep a game can go.
The ghost will be hunted for the rest of his life.
i always thought the point of jin's character was to strike a balance between the ghost's brutality and his uncle's honor. that's how i played the game. i only started to realize where jin's worldview lies after remembering him say "i am the ghost." that made my choice easier at least.

As of today, I don’t know how long it’s been out, but you can toggle a feature that allows you to lock on.
For me it was a 9.5! I LOVED the game but I do agree the stealth is pretty bad in some areas and the camera angles are really bad sometimes! Good review!!
I'll mourn my beloved Nobu forever.
I can't be the only one just saying "the camera" over and over again louder and louder like some sort of PTSD flashback coming on as soon as he started talking about "the biggest problem with the game"
Very minor spoiler:
The amount of times you leave someone you are helping to go find something they need only to come back and find them dead is staggering.
So glad I'm not the only one who noticed that! Made sure to mention it in my review
Now, I played this game more recently, but when he started to describe the stealth, that doesn’t sound like anything what I experienced. Hell they got pissed even if a dog was found killed. Maybe it was a bug/flaw that got patched. No idea. The rest is pretty spot on though.
Yeah sex is cool, but have you ever flicked the blood off your katana after killing 5 enemies in a showdown?
"While you were losing your virginity, I was studying the blade."
This is one of those games that just flex their graphics at you
facts why am i just not with the hype.
GOT has one of the best story concept I've ever experienced. Having to battle with the concept of honor and following your family traditions or wanting to save your home and people
I can't believe they made a country after this game.
Truly fascinating.
It’s not even accurate like where tf are the samurais 😒 0/10 worst places to visit
@sokyu no can't believe they made a race from this game
