He is one of only two opponents to actually kill Kratos in a fight, he towers over Kratos, and is arguably one of the toughest goes Kratos has fought. And that's for Kratos, I was trembling at the thought of what could happen during the Atreus sections.
@@dtanobo the Mjolnir tease in the final fight actually got a big smile out of me. I wanted them to do it and then applauded them for not giving me what I wanted. How rare is that?
Spoilers When Brok was trying to get the blessing from the Lady of the forge and couldn't, but then Kratos said that it needed the blessing of a master blacksmith, I about cried at how sweet that was. This game brought me to tears multiple times and no other game I have ever played has done that. 100/100 for me
I've seen complaints from people that he was too open, like in the first game he didn't really talk too much about his life and that was somehow better, but people don't realize that the whole point is Kratos is more open because he's developing as a character to be more trusting and open to confronting and overcoming his past. I feel like people complaining just want this stoic emotionless Kratos who responds to everything with "hm, i do not wish to speak of this"
@@TheWizerd64there also people complaining wanting a more violent Kratos, which wouldn’t make sense along with that not being the real kratos as even in the original kratos despised the state he was in along with the reputation he got, literally begging to forget and be forgiven of terrible acts he has done
One bit of dialogue that sticks in my head was when Kratos said to Freya "I do not regret saving your life, and never will. But the choice between life and death was yours to make. I should not have robbed you of that choice". That moment, followed by the small smile of acceptance from Freya, then the deep breath of relief of tension from Kratos after she walks away. It was masterfully directed and acted scene.
God of War 2018 and Ragnarok are some of the only games that make me truly want to hear all the dialogue and really pay attention to it. It's like a little treat anytime the characters are just talking to each other while exploring.
Same. Much praise to Cory Barlog and Matt Sophos for their writing because I honestly find the gameplay nearly rudimentary as someone who's played games my entire life. But the writing is so good that I literally don't care, at the end of the day the modern GoW games' value lies in the tales being told and the dialogue revealing how they play out. Wonderfully crafted.
The line I liked most was when Atreus said "More enemies that means we're heading the right way" it's such gamer logic to think that and caught me off guard.
@@oeny6040 Yeah the meta dialogue was always entertaining. Of course it mostly comes from Mimir go figure, but hearing Atreus say that gave me a good chuckle. And as far as I remember that type of dialogue never really unimmersed me or anything, the more comedic lines blend quite well despite the more serious and emotional tone of most of the games
The growth is honestly incomparable. They didn’t revert back to a cold shouldered Kratos who just yells “Boy” all the time, he’s always there for his son and shows it on his sleeve this time around and it’s beautiful to see.
I disagree, the dialogue felt way too cartoony/marvel like rather than a god of war game. In the previous game, kratos barely spoke but when he did you hanged on to every word because of how meaningful it was, and the dialogue in general held a lot of weight. Compare it to this game where we have Odin, a god who massacred a complete race, a manipulative psycho who kills everyone who’s not useful to him, referring to freya as “my ex”. Some of the lines were really cringe and didn’t fit the context of the game at all. While overall the idea of the story was good the execution wasn’t and I really wish cory directed this one instead.
@@57Nights i thought odin was near perfect. Ex feels cringe because these characters belong to ages past but back in their day I'm sure they would've used similar slang from that time.
@@57Nightsit’s kinda hard to give a character good development if they are silent 90% of the time, and the context of the game for Kratos is different, he’s become a leader of men again not just a stoic soldier with a boy on a personal quest he’s become much more of a father as well in terms of being human and not just a killing machine
That ending of kratos being happy/relieved seeing that image of people worshiping him made me cry. That part itself deserves GOTY. His growth throughout his whole journey is amazing
I loved that the characters would talk about other characters whenever you do a side quest meant for another character. Like if you take freya to free the giant jellyfish. Mimir and freya both comment on how Atreus would of loved to see it and how kratos should of brought him. Love the detail In the dialogue in this game.
It also has different voice line depending if you skip the side first and do the main quest or just follow alone. Example being the sigrun side quest, where Mimir will have a different dialog with her at the end of the game.
Yeah, i rushed through the main game because i already saw some spoilers and now i have to sit with one of them without hearing who i want. Anyways i guess i will get to do the second playthrough how i want but still
The fact that my girlfriend, who usually couldn't care less about the games i play , actively asked me to wait for her to play because she's genuinely interested in the story, to me just attest to how good the writing is. It's the first time she's asked me if she can try the game after I'm finished . That's how you know a game is good, when it pulls in people outside of gaming.
you both should try something like "What Remains of Edith Finch" . it's sort of a graphic novel sort of game with an interesting story. It does get sad at times though so beware.
Same here! I never thought me and my girlfriend would bond over something loke this. Prio to this, she never really cared about GoW and its Mythologies
Being able to 100% this game was probably the most rewarding experience largely due to it being so well made, and exploring post game opening up paths that weren’t previously available. It’s a comfort game along with its predecessor that Id happily play again start to finish
@@he_cat I absolutely agree with you on that, and I had to look up a guide on the different challenge combos to unlock the final ones. There was one I did that ended up being my last one needed, and I swear it was an act of God I didn’t die. I had a sliver of health left and a Wyrven was flying around and Einherjar were swarming. Somehow I survived until time ran out and I have that recorded for the trophy
@@NigelThornbergThe challenge combos were written on the floor of the arena. Seems like you just might’ve missed it. I saw no problem with the muspelheim challenges, I thought they were a lot fresher and more unique than 2018.
I think Odins performance was my favorite of all but kratos. Odin seems like such a real character, you even almost find yourself thinking he’s not so bad sometimes even though you know he’s a scumbag. The way he acts so human and caring one second and then turns into a complete psychopath the next is incredible
It fits perfectly with the character, everyone always says that hes a manipulative bastard and that everything he says is a lie, yet when you hear him talk (especially to Atreus) you cant stop to think that maybe he is not so bad after all, and yet you know what he is done That is also the same way Atreus sees him, doesnt think he is bad but also knows deep inside that he cant be trusted I also love how when he finally gets defeated, the first thing he does is start talking, because he remembers that was always his strongest weapon
My thoughts exactly. They wrote his character so well, he fits the role Mimir and Freya have built him up as the whole game. He maybe charming and charismatic to the outside, but to those he's most personal with, he is nothing selfish and tyrannical, all to hide the fact he really is just scared, scared of his fate and what comes next.
@@degg7129 I love that he’s just not Zeus 2.0 who was basically Soldier Boy (The boys) a physical bully while Odin was more of family mafia boss/cartel boss or cult leader. He was manipulative and cunning filling you with half-truths and can read you n see through you so easily
My favorite lines from this game is when Atreus said he wish to sail away because of the massive guilt he’s feeling . Then Kratos said “You can’t sail away from your problems…if you are to sail, do it toward somewhere.” It's funny that when Mimir asked if Kratos had ever written any poems, Kratos just smirked at the idea. Little does he realize he already speaks in poetic and succinct ways.
Mimir asked if he had written any poems of his own. He hasn't, but in another point of the game he does say he enjoys reading them. He is repeating the words of something he read rather than making it up himself.
That part when Kratos, Atreus, and Freya held their hands together, with Kratos saying “You said it yourself, Bitch. We’re the God of War” to Odin before killing him with an energy blast really solidified this game for me as the best of 2022
The change his character went through near the end of the game was so well performed by his voice actor. Such a perfect tonal shift and it seemed so real.
Yeah the future is bright these games keep getting better and in the Prequel comic egyptian gods have already been teased there will be enough material for Kratos
He really had no business killing Oden after all the work they put in trying to kill him. Especially after Atreus captures him, which I assumed would be holding him away forever until he is able to be rehabilitated or something like that but then he’s just killed by Sindri, which honestly is a let down for me.
he did it once for a movie review, then never again. i assume it’s less work and that the viewer retention drops off because people don’t wanna get spoiled. maybe he can just post a separate video entirely
@@Litherly yeah i got spoiled half the fucking game just with thumbnails alone. Good thing Charlie is one of the few people who don’t post spoilers right on the damn thumbnail
The motion capture alone in this game is crazy, seeing the emotions on character's faces so clearly really adds to the immersion in the game. A masterpiece of a game.
I don't know if other people noticed or cared as much as I did, but I loved all the little creatures they sprinkled around in every realm. They were so detailed for how small they were and I would basically play Where's Waldo in every new area looking for the cute little critters.
@@joshaboi7467 I think my favorite were the little mushroom people lol. I first saw them walking around on Yggdrasil at the treehouse and had a full 2-3 mins where I just squinted at them like "Is that a little mushroom dude?"... "IT IS!"
@@RocafellaPlaza how is a fire squirrel out of place in a universe where night and day is controlled by two wolves who chase the sun and moon across the sky
The side quest point is so unbelievably right. The hafgufas come to mind especially and I love how a lot of the side quest leaned in on mimirs backstory
That moment when the two trapped Hafgufas were finally able to briefly meet and sing together before sacrificing themselves for their children, and that analogy extending to Kratos and Atreus’ father-son relationship made me profoundly sad.
man that side quest about mimir and his love was kinda heartbreaking. Cause it sorta hit the feels knowing he wasnt that persons first choice and how kratos asked him does he want to read about his love and he goes nope.
Dude that quest made me cry... Spoilers for this quest below: When atreaus was asking Kratos the whole time why he was helping him, amd pointing out he never intersted in anything he does so why now. Once you release the squid mimir goes: have you considered he may just wanna spend some time with you while he still can? Man, that part got me. A SIDE QUEST made me cry, game of the fuckin year...
Favorite part was where Kratos told Atreus he was doing side quests to spend more time with him. Enjoying what could have been their last moments doing something good together with Mimir. Reminding themselves of simpler times.
And after the side quest in 2018 with the spirits on the Lake of Nine, it really does feel nice seeing Kratos understand the value of helping others too. Whether he does it because he genuinely thinks it's the right thing or because it's for something someone he cares for wants, it's really is heartwarming seeing Kratos grow
When Sindri destroyed the cannons near the end, turned around and said: "more or less what you expected?" with his red, teary eyes... Nearly cried as well there
I agree, that moment hit hard. He had no business killing Odin tho. Odin was trapped away and he just gets killed by Sindri of all people the next minute
That was my first thought when the game was officially done for me, I had the biggest urge to hug everyone who helped make this, I beat everything in 2 sittings, I will never forget this game.
I cried during the father-son moments with Kratos and Atreus during the last hour or so of the story. I’ve never actually watched or played a previous God of War title, but I know a lot of background knowledge. This game alone establishes so much connection to the cast of characters despite being a sequel, and technically the 5th installment in the series, it’s incredible.
I like how Kratos shows character development that most movies can’t even get. The way he opens up to his son and expresses his fears is incredible when you know how he acted in past GoW.
@@etherealmako Yeah but movies are all about their characters and video games are known for having shit character development. So it is still impressive
I'm such a sucker for family-bonding stories and this series does that so beautifully. Kratos realizing he has to be softer, not harder to make his son stronger is such a wonderful lesson for him to learn.

@@Insanepie Have you been paying attention? A huge part of Kratos' character in the past two games is about how he doesn't want to be the "God of War" anymore. He resents his past and in 2018 he tried to bury his past and desperately keep it a secret from essentially everyone, even his own son. And even when he was forced to talk about his past, he did what he could to avoid actually going into any detail. If you can't accept that Kratos is a character with actual depth, then just don't play God of War
I am not ashamed whatsoever to say that I shed some tears over the story. This game is a masterpiece and is up there and exceeds some of the legends I love this game in every sense of the word
Only part I cried at was when Atreuses dog died cuz mine died about a month ago. Shit was right in the beginning of the game and I was not ready for it
I cried probably around a dozens times throughout the story. My first tear didn't even happen during a cutscene, but when atreus climbed up a high ledge on his own😭
They got me twice, the moment just before you leave Helheim as well as Kratos admitting he was wrong during the final battle. Such a beautiful story and character arcs man.
This game was an absolute roller coaster from beginning to end. When it came to a close I was just blown away of how everything was executed so flawlessly.

You're right about the writing being the best. I've played Red Dead 2, and all the big RPG's, nothing paints characters as lively as Ragnarok. You laugh, you cry, and you get impressed by just how the script commands your emotions. I can't wait for time to past so I can play it all over again.
The fights with thor in this game went so hard. Thor was probably one of my favorite characters in this game. Music was somehow better in this game than the last. When you go to the Dwarven realm with Brok, and get the new spear, the music hit just as hard as a track from doom eternal. Plus, Kratos bring more human and honestly being kind of friendly and addressing other characters by their names was such a nice touch to the game. Absolute masterpiece.
the scene where he gets brok to bless the spear despite brok saying its worthless because he doesn't have all his soul bits followed by kratos quoting him is def one of my favorite scenes
Except when they didn't record the facial movement in the first battle and the audio sounds like it's coming from the air rather than the characters mouth Replay the 1st encounter with Thor and watch how underwhelming it is compared to Baldur from 4 years ago??? This feels like Regression to me with a tad better graphics
Bear Mceary did something really special with the soundtrack. When you compare such a beautiful score with writing of this game's caliber it just elevates scenes to the next level. This game will go on to win score of the year, you heard it here first.
I love that you specifically shouted out Odin in the performances. Of course Christopher Judge and Sunny Suljic are perfect in their roles, but for me Richard Schiff's Odin just stole every scene he was in
The way they did the side quests was perfect. It felt seamless from the main story and it gave so much character development and backstory about the world.
I finished this game at exactly the same time as you last night. Truly an unforgettable experience and a game I am glad to have played. Every single objective has me actively excited to see where the story would go and they delivered on their story beats in a magnificent way.
Took me 44 hours to beat the game because I did almost all of side quests and found around 80% of the collectables from just exploring and enjoying the worlds, I took my time with this game and enjoyed every minute, I played on Give me no mercy and it felt perfect, every side quest feels like it could be part of the main story, it never felt like a chore to do any of the side quests with how well the stories are told and the awesome fights that can be found within. 95% is a well deserved score and I hope all of you get to play this game soon :)
The funniest part of the game is the squirrel ability you get with Loki. That gives you health stones. When he first said “I pulled these outa my ass enjoy! I died lmao
“What gets bigger the more you take away from it?” The game literally ends with Mimir figuring it out. The riddle has added so much meaning and significance, and perfectly encapsulates how I felt at the very end. The game is a masterpiece for the ages.
What made the writing so compelling for me was the quality that extended to the side quests. Every side quest felt like it had meaningful character progression and gave you huge insight to these characters that you've spent 50+ hours with between the two games. A narrative masterpiece front to back.
God I love this game it has such detail in its characters I feel they were really and I actually almost cried at many scenes also playing as atreus was such a nice change from brute strength to speed also the armors and accessories with different effects and stats and the new spear has such a good feel probably my game of the year honestly
I finished the main story but I'm still doing all the side missions days later. It's insane how much work they put into this game. I hope we get the NG+ option next so I can explore the realms with Atreus this time
There are numerous moments in this game where there’s just brilliant writing, some made me swell up some big man tears, even the subtlest things like moments with Atreus and kratos that show the two have truly grown and are still growing from their relationship in the previous game is done so so perfectly, and god damnit that end scene (I will not spoil) made me tear up with joy
So, this series means a lot to me. I remember back in 2005 my dad taking me to circuit city (don’t judge lol) to play the demo on the TVs in the electronics section… 2 weeks later he bought me my very first PS2 with God of War to go with it. A small memory but I remember me and my dad bonding over that and I’ve never forgotten it. Needless to say, the story in these last two games regarding father/son life and issues has been such a full circle for me with growing up with kratos and seeing him and his son go through so much really does hit the feels. Bravo, Santa Monica
They both are GOTY for me, but definitely for very different reasons. GoW gives me one of the best stories and finales to a multi-part story that I’ve seen in a game in a long time and have me feeling so many emotions along with the characters. Elden Ring does exploration and open worlds so well that every minute I get something new and exciting to do. I get fatigued really easily with open world games, so to play 100+ hours and not feel like I wanted to stop playing is a huge feat in my books.
Elden Ring was going to get a 97 but he lowered it because of the on release pc bugs. Now that those bugs are fixed, its back to 97. I doubt Elden Ring won't win the games mosity. Any other year and GoW probably would gave gotten GOTY. We were just super lucky to get 2 amazing games this year.
I finished it yesterday and it was by far the best game I've played this year. The story, the world, the gameplay, the art, everything put a smile on my face. And the final 2 hours were jaw dropping to me. This game and the studio deserve all the praise they're getting.
The fact that we got Elden Ring and GOW Ragnarok so close together is astonishing. Two phenomenal games that are actually fully finished on release and not being updated to add the "features" in over time. Makes me think of the good old days of gaming where you could expect a finished game on release, props to FromSoftware and Sony Santa Monica, actually props to most of the Sony exclusive developers for giving us good, fully finished games on release
Hopefully game devs will notice a trend that fully released and polished videogames are the ones people will be buying copies of for the next decade whilst shitty early access lootbox riddled, bug infested dumpster fires will be a fad and fade in a month.
And then massive IPs like Pokemon release a technical failure that sells double as much. Video games are really just like movies, where blockbusters like MCU movies break the box office everytime while great movies like Bullet Train get just standard revenue. It tells that numbers have little to do with quality and being iconic
2018 and ragnarok are the games I looked forward to and they delivered masterpieces. The twist in the story that really gets you in two places he’s one of my favorite characters.
This is a game worth showing to our grandchildren one day. My major issue is that it feels like they cut a few hours from the end of the story. I completely support that there wasn't enough story to make it work out for three games as originally planned, but I still would've loved more buildup for Ragnarok and its major events. What's insane is the story and game are still insanely long even after the condensed feel of the final act. Replay value of this game also seems like it's worth giving a few completionist runs for before putting down. I hope they can at least give us some type of expansion pack or new story to fill in the gaps before they move onto whatever they're *clearly* setting up for Atreus.
you can platinum the game in a single playthrough. thats what i did. i hate having to do extra difficult runs for platinum, but both 2018 and ragnarok can be platinumed on any difficulty in a single save file.
I haven't played a game that has emotionally impacted me this much since Ghost of Tsushima. There are three specific moments that really got me feeling emotional. The scene where Kratos takes off all his armour and looks at the bag he used to carry Faye's ashes in, looking so defeated and lost. That got me in the feels. The scene where Kratos and Atreus reunite and have that sit down talk in hell made me tear up. And the scene where Kratos says goodbye to Atreus made me ugly cry. Such a beautiful game.
The voice acting cast added so much to the game. All the performances are top notch, especially Odin. I wasn't expecting them to do him like they do in this game, but it fits so perfectly. He became my favorite character and always looked forward to seeing what he'd pull next. Top tier game, hell best AAA game I've seen in years outside of Elden Ring. It'll be fun to see those two duke it out. Although I will say if Freya asks me to use my shield one more time if I get hit ONCE I'm gonna have words.
The only 2 issues I had with this game was sometimes the difficulty spikes at random places for seemingly no reason, and the NPC's screaming out the solution to a puzzle after 10 seconds. But other than those the game is amazing in almost every way. These 2 games really are what many single player games should look to for inspiration going forward.
Growing up on god of wars and having every person I ask “do you know GOW” always saying no 100% of the time killed me as a kid. Now everyone loves it and I’m so happy :)
Definitely one of the best games I've played in a long time. I've been a fan of the GOW series ever since i was 13, now 21 & experiencing Ragnarok from beginning to end was amazing
One thing I didn't like was Freya being so open to the idea of partnering with Kratos. She was absolutely livid with him. Desperate for his death. And then became best pals.
This is a true sequel, man, it completely builds off the last game and nails pretty much everything it tries here. Like Halo CE to Halo 2. This game deserves all the praise its getting.
I got this game on Friday and couldn't stop playing it all weekend and finished the main story today (Monday) I am sad that it's over, but happy they I can now watch reviews to hear other people's experience. I loved it.

For being called "ragnarok" not much happened. Nowhere near the spectacle nor world changing event that was in GOW3. Also gameplay/camera was still kind of ass.
@@MisterHeroman well tbh shit only went south in the original additions of the franchise because the gods of Olympus were all charged with keeping order to the lands (you know so tornadoes and tsunamis wouldn't happen) but because kratos killed them, all that shit went outa control. To be vague, there is a part in the game where you realized everything made sense after this event happen. Such a good game to be played and I enjoyed watching Charlie experience that event too
This game is insanely good. As a watcher and not a player (so I can’t complain about gameplay) I was surprised that absolutely nothing showed up about Athena. GoW2018 had that get out of my head scene... I mean I guess she just did.
But there is a moment when in GoW2018 when Kratos walks through Athena right?. Unless I remember it wrong I don't think Athena was on Kratos mind after that.
Just incredible. This may be my favourite franchise in gaming now and the one I look forward to most for the next iteration. They really developed Kratos so much.
This game is beautiful. Breathtaking. Completely blows the competition out of the water. Very few games have this level of detail and quality all together. Never a dull moment. I didn’t even think they could have done better than 2018 but I was gladly proven wrong. Great game.
Honestly, just hearing that a massive AAA title isn't just poorly implemented features + pretty graphics is so nice. I get that it has its problems still, but it looks like the devs put some genuine TLC into its development, and we don't see enough of that.
Its a sony exclusive what did you expect. Sony games always have quality and they have never failed me even once. I’m Ngl I really didn’t enjoy the story In this one. I enjoyed 2018’s story a lot but in Ragnarok it feels directionless and I felt a lot of the motivations behind the plot were just so shallow. I also didn’t enjoy how they did Odin and a lot of the Aesir. He wasn’t threatening at all and felt like a mob boss. I get they didn’t want to just make the Greek Pantheon again, but when they built up the characters in 2018 they felt so much more of a threat.
Agreed on all fronts. What an amazing story, with phenomenal voice acting, writing, and mo-capping. I couldn't stop sobbing for a while after finishing it, including a few shed tears throughout. Fun, more intricate combat and amazing areas to explore. One of my main gripes with GoW 2018s exploration was that we mostly just got to see Midgard, and even then we were partially limited to the lake of the nine in terms of open-world exploration. With this one, they really blew it out of the park with how many different environments and landscapes you could explore, and just how detailed and alive some of them felt! I have to unfortunately also agree with the negatives. While I don't mind the patient style of combat as much (though I'm also not nearly as good at the game as Charlie lol, I did also play on gmgow though), I hated the companion's backseating at every step of the way

When you fight gna he holds true to that statement letting Freya decide whether or not to kill the new valkyrie queen was also very nice.

Same. I want to hear every line, see every little creature, the game was awesome.

The way the writers came up with all the clever dialogues. The vocabulary used in those sentences, man.
So good. The dialogues are just insanely good.

Odin seems like such a real character, you even almost find yourself thinking he’s not so bad sometimes even though you know he’s a scumbag. The way he acts so human and caring one second and then turns into a complete psychopath the next is incredible
Ikr??? I found myself actually starting to like him early on and then at the end he kills his own son bc hes not useful anymore
It fits perfectly with the character, everyone always says that hes a manipulative bastard and that everything he says is a lie, yet when you hear him talk (especially to Atreus) you cant stop to think that maybe he is not so bad after all, and yet you know what he is done
That is also the same way Atreus sees him, doesnt think he is bad but also knows deep inside that he cant be trusted
I also love how when he finally gets defeated, the first thing he does is start talking, because he remembers that was always his strongest weapon

When kratos said “it’s kratos time” I literally couldn’t stop shaking.
hahaha 😐
yeah he just started krating all over the place it was nuts
You are so corny bro
You got the whole class laughing 😐🫥😑🥱😕
I just lmao’d so hard. Yippee
Both Elden Ring and GOW got a 95 on the moist meter, both masterpieces
ONLY ONE WILL PREVAIL! TO THE DEATH!!!!
@@TheHollowedArtist The only thing that makes me like Elden Ring more than GoW is that its in PC lmao
@@ReubenXR 98, not 97
So happy to see a AAA title put serious love and life into their game
The comment I was looking for
Hopefully game devs will notice a trend that fully released and polished videogames are the ones people will be buying copies of for the next decade whilst shitty early access lootbox riddled, bug infested dumpster fires will be a fad and fade in a month.
And then massive IPs like Pokemon release a technical failure that sells double as much.
Video games are really just like movies, where blockbusters like MCU movies break the box office everytime while great movies like Bullet Train get just standard revenue.
It tells that numbers have little to do with quality and being iconic
GoW wanted to be elden and it shows in the slow motion combat. All games are Walmart brand souls games and it's sickening. Gaming is dead.
@@beenschmokin This has got to be a gaming take of all time
The voice acting and character development for all of them especially Odins Aesir clique (thor, heimdal etc..) was phenomenal
I actually think Thor had God AWFUL voice acting. Everyone else was amazing though
@YeaMan I can think of at least 10 better songs.
I hope they can at least give us some type of expansion pack or new story to fill in the gaps before they move onto whatever they're *clearly* setting up for Atreus.
you can platinum the game in a single playthrough. thats what i did. i hate having to do extra difficult runs for platinum, but both 2018 and ragnarok can be platinumed on any difficulty in a single save file.
this game made me feel like i went back in time during the golden age of gaming
I haven't played a game that has emotionally impacted me this much since Ghost of Tsushima.
There are three specific moments that really got me feeling emotional.
The scene where Kratos takes off all his armour and looks at the bag he used to carry Faye's ashes in, looking so defeated and lost. That got me in the feels.
The scene where Kratos and Atreus reunite and have that sit down talk in hell made me tear up.
And the scene where Kratos says goodbye to Atreus made me ugly cry. Such a beautiful game.
My favorite quote:
"Atreus, you've become much a better fighter"
"Maybe better than you some day?"
"If you are not, then I have failed"
It really has the perfect balance of character personalities such as characters that make you feel goosebumps and characters that make you laugh
The scene where Kratos is fighting Jesus and he says “it’s Kratosin time” really solidified this game as the game of the year
I feel like Jesus and Kratos could chill and maybe light a blunt together

Theres a setting to extend the timing for companions helping with puzzles. Not really sure if many ppl notice this feature but yea lol
@@LookAtThatBugger
This is not true. I turned on the extended puzzle time and they still don’t shut up.
It extends the time you get if the puzzle has a timed part
@@leviakenhd3943
I know, but the guy above claims it extends the time before companions give you hints. Which it doesn’t.
That didn't happen for me
Growing up on god of wars and having every person I ask “do you know GOW” always saying no 100% of the time killed me as a kid. Now everyone loves it and I’m so happy :)
God of War is a God Tier video game considering how much could have gone wrong with it being made during the pandemic.
Definitely one of the best games I've played in a long time. I've been a fan of the GOW series ever since i was 13, now 21 & experiencing Ragnarok from beginning to end was amazing
God of War Ragnarok absolutely deserved all the hype it was getting pre release
*Ok_Dont_Read_My_Names*😐 .
I just finished the game, I’ve never played a game that made me feel so many different emotions. This game is a masterpiece.
The actress for Laufey was so perfect that I can't get so much of her dialogue out of my mind even though she isn't in it much.
The moment where Kratos said "its warring time" had me in tears.
One thing I didn't like was Freya being so open to the idea of partnering with Kratos. She was absolutely livid with him. Desperate for his death. And then became best pals.
every one talks about christopher judge being a top tier actor in this and i agree but richard shiff knocked it out of the park as odin
what wins me over with this game from the old one is that the enemy doesn't fell copy pasted recolor of themselves like the old one did
This is a true sequel, man, it completely builds off the last game and nails pretty much everything it tries here. Like Halo CE to Halo 2. This game deserves all the praise its getting.
There is no understating how amazing Sindri is through the whole game.
i thought he was aite
He had a lot more emotion to him then the first and that one scene. The voice actor did bits 🥲
Brok>
Ookay
His character development was nuts
I loved and appreciated every callback to the 2018 God of War. And it made me smile each time..
I got this game on Friday and couldn't stop playing it all weekend and finished the main story today (Monday)
I am sad that it's over, but happy they I can now watch reviews to hear other people's experience.
I loved it.
there has never been a game thats brought me to tears but this game did multiple times, specially at the end of the game it really just hit home. this has been my most anticipated game of the last decade and im so happy to see they did such a fantastic job with it
For being called "ragnarok" not much happened.
Same thing doesn't apply to Norse mythology. Also please inform me on why you think the gameplay was terrible? Was it the unnecessary dialogue during a puzzle? If so then I don't think that should be the only thing that influences your opinion. Because it's not a big deal really.
To be vague, there is a part in the game where you realized everything made sense after this event happen. Such a good game to be played and I enjoyed watching Charlie experience that event too
VA and Character development was on some next level man; and the story man, the STORY!
I knew 100% you were going to mention the “death can have me when it earns me” quote when you said there was a badass quote
The only that I can remember that wasnt as good as the trailers showed and the reviews were sorta on the negative side was days gone and that game was pretty damn good after I played it.
@@Lord_ofcinderthat game had a eh story and it was fucking JANK launch
@@Lord_ofcinder Days Gone was pretty meh, TLOU2 was also not so great.
Most of the time their games are lacking in the gameplay department.
They come out with great stuff though, God of War 2018/Ragnarok, Ghost of Tsushima, Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, and Bloodborne (if you can count that)
@@Pelayum tlou2 gameplay was great though
@@jaahman0098 It was, just the story wasn't good, which is the main focus of the game

"In normal conversation, when you're just exploring, a character says to Kratos"
Very subtle, Charles. Very subtle...
This game had the most greatest chemistry in any video game thus far. Even making you agree with villians at some point, making you say things like "i mean, he has a fair point ngl" fantastic game, sony monica studios you surpassed a masterpiece, with another masterpiece.
