Sorry to hear about your shoulder issues. I too have had shoulder issues (surgery on each), so I sympathize and empathize. Nice update on your very nice layout!
Thank you for your kind comment Anthony, It started back in October last year gradually got worse, had a number of physio sessions with no improvement, just hoping the scan can sort the problem out.
Hi Roy, nice to see you, I no all about aches and pains i'm getting on myself but I won't give you my full medical history Ha-Ha, you have a lot of patience with fiddly components but Loco running beautifully and a nice job completed, like the level crossing update and the layout is looking good, keep warm, best wishes Colin.
Hi Roy. Great update buddy. Lima coaches look nice, I've started using the Hornby magnet couplings, brilliant bit of kit. Wish I was tech savvy like you Roy.😢 Love my HSTs got inter city and virgin that Brian Finn has just repaired for me. Thanks Roy, stay safe buddy. Thumbs up thumped 👍 .... Pete....
The ones I'm going to try are made by Markling and have the added benefit of connecting the electrics. I have got some Hornby magnetic couplings that are very good in some of my rolling stock. Thanks again for commenting.😊
Roy is that an air conditioning unit high up on your back wall? If so that would be a far cheaper way to heat the garage than using straight electric. It's basically the same as a heat pump. May I also make a suggestion....a layer of polystyrene on the inside of the garage door makes a HUGE difference.
Thank you for your comment. It does look like an air conditioning unit but it is just a 2kw blower heater. It seems less effective than the ground level convector heater I'm now using. As to the garage door that is a insulated double skinned door. I should really try insulating the single brick wall really, I've thought about it many times. I used to have a property in Spain with air conditioning unit that also acted as heating in winter but still preferred heating with conventional heater as although the air conditioner was used for heating it always felt draughty, not comfortable. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@roystrains Yes there is that, moving air has a cooling effect even when warm. Had a lovely Sunday cuppa whilst listening to your updates in this storm we have today! One tip for older hornby die cast chassis running, is to put a small drop of light oil on the axles. You can do it using a paper clip for example without dismantling. Forget the people on RUclips who strip everything down. It's unnecessary most of the time. The oil works because it keeps clean where the axle conducts to the chassis. Without it you get black oxide forming from indifferent metals. Cheers. Gary
Yes, it has improved reliability in starting, mainly because I run it using ABC breaking with another train on same track. sometimes it would stop at lights if the other train was too close but fail to start again when lights turned green. If I wasn't paying attention the other train could crash into back of it☹
Your crossing looks great. Did you buy it or do the electronics yourself? My only thought is that on a real crossing the left lights glash together and the right lights flash together, rather than opposite as you have it. Maybe you can change wiring underneath the board?
I bought the lights and flasher unit from Layouts4u. Thanks for pointing out the flashing order it never occurred to me that they should be in sync but have just checked some video footage on line and you are correct. I should be able to put it right.😊
Good mod with the contacts. I did something similar with my Bachmann DMUs as they collect power through the wheel bearings, which I found to be unreliable.
Great Layout Roy - and update on your progress and projects
Thank you for your kind comment
Hope you get your scan and health sorted soon Roy.
The signals look good.
Happy modelling.
Thanks for your comment Mons, keeping fingers crossed I get it sorted out.

Thanks for commenting Colin. Isn't life grand getting old.😟
Great job on the HST Roy. Love the traffic signals as well. Hope you get help with your ailments soon. ATB Stuart
Thanks for your get well wishes and for watching Stuart.
Great stuff Roy, it'd be funny to have a car at the level crossing with a skeleton in the drivers seat.
Good Idea😃

Thank you for your kind comment.
Love the new sign Roy and like the idea of the new couplings for the lighting. 👍
Waiting for them to be delivered, they are made by Markling so hope they work out.😊
I enjoyed that Roy. Keep at it mate as Summer and warmer times coming soon . Regards Alan :o)
Thanks Alan, I will keep at it and can't wait for the summer😊
Thanks for the update Roy, layout looks great. Hope your shoulder gets better soon. Best wishes, Jon and Hollie.
Thank you for watching and your get well message.😁
Cracking job on the hst roy, I`m now looking at a thing called a switch bot that has an arm to remotely operate any kind of lever
A switch bot, that sounds interesting, should open a lot of possibilities. Thanks for commenting, will look out for your idea's with switch bot.

Good tip😊
Very very clever with the pick ups Roy👍❤️ Have you experienced an improved performance ? Mine seem to run quite well

@roystrains or even make them "glash" together hahaha
Sorry I didn't have my glasses on hahaha

Thanks for your positive comment Mike. Much improved an old 35 year old loco.
