Each one of the French rations has a creative mains and sides. I would love to try them all some day. I have always been impressed with the ones I have tried. Fruit bars are really good. Another great Review Nathan!
I think you should have bent the stove in the opposite direction because the indention in the "bottom" looks to be made the same size as the fuel tabs, I assume it is so they do not move while heating incase the stove gets bumped by accident or a wind blows the stove. As always great job all the way around

These sardines are a premium product. You can buy them in any store but they are expensive. Top notch but expensive. We're treating our soldiers well, very well, it's ok, i think it's fair but not every french buy these quality sardins on a regular basis, obviously, i don't want you to believe that, it's really a gourmet product. There are more affordable ones on our shelves, not quite as good, but still decent and cheaper.
The brand is "connetables", any time you see this brand, you know it's quality stuff.
Actually i checked that, yesterday and they were at €2,11 (i think it makes $2.50 ) and it's not that expensive at all, actually. Their premium tuna is but these sardines, not really, i was a bit surprised.
Rule one: do not heat up the salad;
Rule two : DN NOT HEAT UP THE GOD DAMN SALAD.
Regarding those who tell you that those rations cost 2€ in France: it is wrong, the MRE itself goes for about 9-10€, and the ready made dish portions you get in a French supermarket are of a lesser quality than those found in the MRE; less noble ingredients, more salt and water, artificial flavorings and all.
They sell for between 2 and 6-7€/dish, depending on the brand and quality (you want to try Raynal&Roquelaure stuff), so MREs are a real bargain, and probably better for your health.
Loved hearing a second opinion from someone who hasn't eaten it often.

hard to find, because very high value ! in deutcland in 1997 i trade one box with 3 deutch box ... they're just random french recipes, made in french food industry .... for us this is just ... good to eat, but not exceptionnal ... in the field that's awesome with some baguette ans "saucisson" ;)

Going by the video title l thought the sardines were in the lamb stew. Great by themselves but questionable together.
I've got a Menu 3 MRE packed in 2013 which expired in 2017. It was given to me by a student at the army engineering school. Do people think it is still ok to try and cook and eat the dishes?

The fishy smell from the fuel tablets is because they are made from Hexamine. Should be used in a well ventilated area. As they can give off formaldehyde and ammonia fumes.

You are supposed to fold all four sides up. The stove legs you folded up have built in feet on the bottom that keeps it off the ground. Not all the secondary tins are meant to be heated, they are cold meat and vegetable salads though its up to personal preference of course.

No, it doesn't. Look carefully at the sides you folded up, two sides each have two leg tabs the stove sits up on that extend downward when the other end is up, like ⅛-¼". Those tiny tab legs are the only thing that touch the surface it's placed on when the sides are all folded up, the part holding the fuel is held up. It's designed that way. Probably directions on the box. You also had it upside down, the fuel tab sit in the depression, not on top of it, that's why it's there. Just take a moment and try it, you'll see it does not sit flat on the ground, it can't, unless you fold the 4 tiny legs up. At 07:12 you can clearly see two sides each had two leg tabs the stove stands up on, while the other two sides do not, your left pointing finger is touching one of the leg tabs. It might be too low that it would set wood on fire or something but it doesn't sit flat on the ground. Just look at the difference in the two sets of sides you fold up. There is a reason they are different. I notice many people have a hard time lighting fuel tabs. Just light a match and lay it on top with the lit portion extended over a side. Leave it alone, will light every time. I enjoy your reviews.
