  • hello everyone! i know this is a very different video for me, but i've mentioned before that i've been wanting to experiment with new types of content and this video concept has been stuck in my mind for over a year now so i decided to finally get over my fears and make it. originally, this was supposed to be a "how to guide" type of video, but as i started filming and editing, it kind of morphed into something else entirely and now it's more of a day in my life/self care/quarantine vlog? to be honest, i'm not exactly sure what this video is or how helpful or entertaining it might be to you, but i am proud of it and at the very least, i hope it makes you smile.
thank you for sticking with me and for allowing me to make things that bring me joy. i know that when you subscribed to my channel, you probably just came here to hear me talk about books, but it means a lot to me that you all still support me even when i don't. i hope you're all well and i hope this video brings you some comfort. i love you 💛💛

i can't stress enough how much my mental health needed this, especially from you (bc i feel like we're really similar and i honestly admire you a lot) the past few weeks have been absolute hell for me. i was having anxiety attacks almost every day and i was hating myself for not being responsible and mature enough and avoiding confrontation. Hating that everyone around me was doing things with their lives and me failing and then feeling like i'm self centered for even thinking like that. Feeling so broken at the thought that my mental health had taken over all my teen years (i turn 19 this year, same day as you yeet). Just feeling like absolute garbage and like I was a burden to everyone or that I wasn't doing my part in the world. I appreciated everything you said in this video so much, because I try to tell myself every day, but my brain just hates me for some reason. Like you said, my brain wants to convince me that I don't matter. I think that you perfectly explained how the little things you do in a day can do wonders for your mental health, but it doesn't fix everything. This is just a way to get through your bad days.
Sorry for the long comment but just know that you're loved and appreciated by so many people and you deserve everything good in the world. Thank you for this video, you're an absolute angel

Oh my, I am in a very similar situation and mind space 🙈 Please, remember that you are so strong - struggling with mental health in your teen years is fucking exhausting, many people aren't even aware of how much energy it takes. You aren't a burden and you will find your place in the world. You have to be you, even if right now you may not be sure who that is, and honestly that's it - that's your purpose for now, to just be yourself, to learn some new things, to grow. You have time to figure everything out; right now just focus on breathing every day and remember that life is not a race and that you will find your place. Sending you much love 💓💓💓

Remember that the struggles you have overcome have made you a stronger person and that you can keep moving forward. The part in which you said that taking care of ourselves is an "effort" we have to make, really struck me. Because you're right. It's not easy, it's not quick and it does feel like work. It feels intimidating. But we'll get there. We'll learn. 💜

We are so surrounded by hustle and “self care” culture that pressures us to be “the best version of ourselves” allllll the time. Really that’s just not realistic or necessary. Videos like this remind me of the importance of focusing on real self care, looking after yourself seperate from expectations and external pressures, and being genuinely kind to yourself. Hannah truly radiates kindness, and it’s definitely catching.

This video couldn’t have come at a better time for me. I wish I saw it sooner, even. I didn’t get out of bed today until 7 pm. I wallowed. I slept. I didn’t eat. I didn’t drink water. Forgot my medicine. Wallowed and slept some more. It was 7 pm before I was able to drag myself out of my bed. I sat on my couch and stared out the window before I ate or medicated or anything else. I just couldn’t. I finally took my medicine and ate and did some cleaning up in my kitchen and my closet and it’s just barely 1 am and I’m back in bed. I related to every second of this video. Every second of your struggle. The whole entire week was fairly good. I remember exactly when it all went to crap. Saturday night on a call with a friend I got upset. Thought nothing of it and woke up feeling like, “hot garbage.” I was meant to see this video today. You were meant to make it. It was exactly what I needed; not to see that you felt like crap too but that someone else knew exactly how I feel and the bullshit that goes on in my head. My life is so much like yours. Motivated sometimes, mostly not. I’ve been in therapy for a long time and have made some giant progress but we all still have these kind of days. It happens in patterns like you too. So, from the bottom of my heart I thank you for making and posting this video. It was exactly what I needed today. One day at a time, girl. We’ll get this. Thank you. 🧡

thank you so much! i had an off day yesterday and thought it would be over. but i woke up still feeling down. your video helped me to at least get up. Also having you talk so honestly about your journey made me reflect on my own. Some days are going to be cloudy and that is okay. we take one day after the other and slowly get better. step by step. Now I dont feel so bad anymore. Thank you so much!!!

I love what you said about kind of being “prepared” for the hard moments. Lately, a plan of attack has been a tool in my arsenal so I totally agree. Learning my triggers help me understand myself and develop better strategies. Sometimes the same coping mechanism won’t work and you’ll have to use another but I think that’s part of the journey. Thank you for this video and keep moving forward girl!

I can't express how much this honesty means to me when I'm going through a rough patch myself. You were one of my gateways into booktube and I felt I really connected with your content for a while, and then just.. fell out of touch for a while. I think I understand why now that I see you putting the truth out. Too much was hidden for me to feel comfortable for a time, and I understand why it could be really hard to start being more open, I really do. But it feels wonderful to see you opening up as you are now and showing that it's okay to be in a place like this even when you've been known for so long as a simple spot of sunlight by so many.
Thank you. It truly helps me so much.

Thank you so much for filming this video!! I’m in a similar-ish boat but I feel super close to how you’re feeling. I broke up with first partner two months ago and I feel utterly and completely lost and alone! I can’t go a full day without crying or needing time to wallow! As much as I know how unrealistic it is, I really want to try again and work on our relationship but deep deep down I know he wants me to move on with someone who’s better for me. It absolutely sucks and anytime I try to do something for myself or whenever I start making any type of progress my brain drags me down claiming I don’t deserve happiness because I failed so epically and now I deserve to live in regret. I don’t think I’ll never not want to try again with him, and I’m okay with that. I just want to be able to start focusing on my day to day life and doing what makes me happy because I was happy before him and I can be again. He brought so much joy and positivity into my life and he’s someone who helped me gain my self- confidence back. I have to be the one to do that for me now. Wish you and everyone reading this all the best! 🤗

Thank you for sharing this and for sharing aspects of your story so to speak. I've often struggled with depression, anxiety as well as being very self conscious and there have been days when it's been hard to get out of bed. It's rare that I don't go a day without second guessing what I say to most people. It's for sure a process where there's a mixture of good and not so good days and sometimes that self care for me is as simple as drinking something I enjoy and reading or binge watching tv shows. Other days, I feel like I'm on a roller coaster and I stay in my own little bubble so to speak. Mental health is so important and I very much agree that it does take work.

Hey, Hannah, you were talking about noticing patterns in behavior and I was wondering if you ever read “Mind over mood”? It’s a really simple book that teaches a lot about observing and noticing things about ourselves and the relation between our thoughts and actions. It definitely didn’t magically make my anxiety and depression disappear, but it did help me to deal with it in a better way if that makes sense. Anyway, I hope you’re okay and having a good day💞

I dont know if this helps you but I also used to feel a lot of self doubt and instead of tried to 100% believe in myself from the start I just went to the state where I am now - dont care. I work on a video for 30h and it ends up with 20 views? I had fun doing it so I dont care. Only 6 people watched my video? Its fine, at least someone saw it and it might helped them. I studied a LOT for a test and I end up having a mark Im not complety happy with? But I know what I know and a test doesnt define that.
I used to be a perfectionist and this mindset helped me. Sometimes it also maeks me sad because (take my grades for ex) I dont feel that presure that someone would help me to push myself forward but am happy that I am like I am now

And I punish myself constantly for not being able to "just be happy". Thank you for this, and I wish you all the best!

A friend break-up is definitely devastating! I’ve been through a few from unhealthy and toxic relationships- sometimes it feels like pruning a tree bearing poisonous fruits. It took me a while to realize that the problem was from me, not others. Someone else in these comments said that losing friends is like a death. I wholeheartedly agree. I mourn the better person I could've been with the guidance of the friends that I lost because I let them down. To your no-longer-friend, I hope that they are, figuratively, in a better place.
Also I hope this is an opportunity for growth for you as well.
Ephesians 4:31-32 - Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
