    Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on RUclips, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on RUclips. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on RUclips, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
    If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
    This is a reaction video used to educate and give my feedback on the song and artists.

    The great Otis Redding. One can only imagine the standing this guy would have had in popular culture had he lived a longer life. Along with Jimi Hendrix, Otis is probably the biggest tragedy in popular music as far as dying so young and just entering his peak. Incredible performer.

    This concert and film did so much to bring incredible artists to national attention. Otis, Janis, Jimi and The Who. All relatively obscure at this point in their careers. Not after the films release.

    There were a lot of California bands that played in this festival, but there were three acts from "elsewhere" that no one had heard of; Janis Joplin by way of Texas; Jimi Hendrix by way of Seattle and London, England; and Otis Redding. All three blew the crowd and other artists away with their performances.

    Dock of the Bay is his biggest hit, this is second. Both great, my personal favorite is Tell the Truth. Blues-soul, very catchy, danceable, very 60’s urban. Love it!

    This concert was actually a huge coming out party for Redding. It included a mixed audience which was rare for him. Less than 6 months later he was gone. A plane crash took his life. His last recorded song was Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay which was released posthumously and went to #1.

    Otis Redding is a rock of soul and was hugely influential. Peter Gabriel said his goal was to sing as well as Otis or Nina Simone. If you want to succeed, aim high.

    I've not seen this. This is what we call a brilliant singer. Just listen to him. He sounds just as good live as his record does. ❤️❤️❤️✌️
    I was a nanny across the street from Booker T Jones. Nice guy. Nice family.

    Otis was the best. He walked into Stax Records and talked Steve Cropper into listening to him sing. He sang his own “These Arms Of Mine”. Died at age 26 in a plane crash. What could he have done?

    • @rk41gator
      @rk41gator 7 месяцев назад +1

      Stax Records was a pillar of black music. Phil Collins noted Motown and Stax Records as huge influences on his singing and drumming style.

    Great reaction, glad you enjoyed this😊And so glad you're starting to feel better!😊 Otis Redding is one of my favorite singers of all time. This song rips my heart out (in a good way) every time I hear it. His first hit was "These Arms of Mine" (which is actually my favorite song by him, but I wanted you to see this legendary performance at the Monterey Pop Festival)...many other great performers including Janis Joplin and The Who were also there (also The Byrds, who sang "Chimes of Freedom," I know you just reacted to Dylan's original of that one)...wiki says "musicians such as Brian Jones and Jimi Hendrix were captivated by his performance." Otis died only six months after this concert.💔Just three days before he died, he re-recorded his song "(Sittin' on) the Dock of the Bay" which became one of his biggest hits.

      @@user_t_o_m_i_c That's cool that you could remember all those😊I know some of the songs on your playlist but there are many I don't know (I mostly knew that music from my parents' records, and they didn't listen to lots of Motown or soul, aside from Otis and a few others)...I'll listen to more of it!

    To me this is the definitive version of this song. At this same festival Jimi Hendrix's version of "Wild Thing" is life changing and still shocking to this day, while Janis Joplin's version of "Ball And Chain" made her career.

    Another great gone ear too soon. Six months after this performance he would die in a plane crsh into a lake. He was only 26. Go glad the plans are much safer now.
