In addition to being an AMAZING singer, he was able to hold the crowd in the palm of his hands. Great live entertainer.

Otis was a guy living on the country side who one day served as a driver for his buddy into the city of Memphis. The friend was supposed to record at Stax studios. When there was a break between the takes Otis stepped forward to the mic and began singing a song he had written himself. The crew at Stax who heard him rushed to the mixer room and told the engineer "please tell me you caught this on tape?!" The tape was in fact rolling when Oits sang. They offered him a contract on the spot! He was known as Mr 100 % always gave his everything regardless if it was in the studio or live. He had a short but very intensive career he died in a plane crash in 1968.

I loved him. I was watching on TV when his body was pulled from the water. He was still strapped to his plane seat and I've never seen such a sereneful, peaceful look on someone dead. Surely he was in the presence of angels.

Nobody like Otis. This was outdoor festival filled with '60s generation young people, hippies, etc. He had just sung Try a Little Tenderness so he was out of breath at start. Have you listened to These Arms of Mine? Another teary eyed song. Mr. Pitiful and Tramp with Carla Thomas👍👍 Enjoy your reactions especially when you are surprised at how great old music was.👍

He was 26 when he died
He drove his plane on E
When it ran out of gas, plane crashed inside the ocean.
He was found the next day stuck under the plane.
    One side of face smashed.
    One leg broken.
He had no money on him to put fuel in the plane
He forgot his paycheck and he tried to make it to his destination on E!!

  • @minelliradney9132
    @minelliradney9132 Год назад

He flew his plane without gas trying to go to a rehearsal ...on time
    It crashed in the ocean
It killed everyone but one band member
Otis scratched into window seal and broke a leg
    Dead...under the plane in water
    He was 26

No, not having fuel has nothing to do with the crash. The NTSB noted the cause was undetermined. It is speculated, however, that ice build up was the cause, as other crashes of the same type of plane, at the same time of year and in the same general area (the great lakes) were caused by the build up of ice.
