1950’s wore flat shoes with midi skirts all the time and it looked fabulous. Looks feminine and girly. The 80’s introduced the boots with midi skirts and it gives a more high fashion/edgy look. Neither is a do or don’t. It’s a matter of what look you’re going for.
I think it was the colour and pattern of the shirt. I also think you could pull off the long skirt, ballet flats and tights, with skin coloured tights. The black tights are to noticeable and unflattering with the long skirt. (Also by skin coloured tights I mean the person who is wearing the tights skin tone)
I didnt like it personally as i feel it did make her look shorter like she said. But i do agree about the shirt. If she had a different one on, say something with short sleeves and cropped maybe? It would look better imo
Kinda agree.. almost all of her "donts" from her short vids are ok to me. The afters or the "do's" are even more "too much" feeling. Not her style or edge to pull up perhaps? Idk how to put it, english isnt my first language.
She has changed the upper part too. The black blouse cuts the figure while the white knit top adds length and takes off volume. Colours and fabrics are important too.
@@kimbrolyy Same, the jumper will make me look boxy. I have rectangle shape so I barely have waist already. Also, the long boots makes it look like she's wearing long pants under the skirt to me.
do you think if I wore the first outfit except wore white boots I would get the same effect? essentially wearing the same as her second outfit but flipped the colours
@@pinknicho would you mean (colour flip) white boots with black skirt? 🤔 Somehow, I'm not sure about that. But maybe it's worth looking at it first before dismissing the idea! 😉
@@celidagolobic2156 I thought it looks good on wide hips since it kinda hides the size under the dress. But then, in the end what everyone consider good or not depends on the style they like and what they want to emphasizes/hides.
@@skye387 yes, it does hides but hiding doesn’t mean it disappears. It’s like hiding a table with a table cloth. You still have the big table and now the cloth flaring down from its big surface. But with the skirt, because I’m hourglass, I make sure my waist is define and my skirt doesn’t wing out, giving me a tent like effect. But if it flares down instead of out, is preferable. Pencil skirts it’s actually a really good winner. Or a ruffle or flare from a soft pencil shape, to balance the hips. A-line skirts are not great. Trumpet skirts better. Bias cut really good. Full skirts are not desirable because of accentuating the already ample hips. Just my perception ❤
The second look is exactly how my mom dressed when I was younger. I remember looking back at her style and thinking it was ugly, but now that I’m older I realize she had great style and dressed better then than I do now!
Sorry to say but I didn't even notice the boots change. The top is what made ALL the difference because you just turned it into a monochrome look. Nice video regardless ☺️ Love that skirt!!
I think ballet flats with a long skirt is fine. I think the main problem is the black tights. Skin colour tights will look much better. (Also by skin tone I mean to the persons skin tone).
I preferred the 1st outfit. To me she looked tall so flat shoes wasn't horrible. The black top's fabric looked more light, which matched the fabric of the skirt- no effort look. The second look is a lot more serious , less approachable.
"avoid the pretty blouse as it adds no edge to the feminine skirt" that is VERY subjective and assumes we have the same exact goals when styling outfits. Personally, sometimes I want to lean into the style of my main item to create a harmonious feeling instead of creating contrast like the outfit in this video. I get that this page will reflect your personal style, but it felt funny to me when paired with the more technical fashion advice about shoe shapes interacting with the silhouette.
Well, I like the shirt as it has a more relaxed, carefree, comfortable fit throughout. Wish I can find a seamstress or tailor to make me a roomy loose shirt just like that one.
I think the first outfit would look nice with a blouse that's a little more fitted and some sheer tights. Feminine and flattering can certainly coexist
I genuinely don't get the knee-high boots under skirts trend, am I missing something??? I see it everywhere and I can't understand what's so great about it
No thanks. I'll keep wearing flat shoes because I don't want to permanently damage by ankles and calves by walking in heels all the time. Screw "looking short and dated" I'm more than an object to be looked at.
Me too. I like to wear long skirts and dresses with flat boots. I tend to wear all one colour/tone though as it elongates the body. Plus, I prefer flat boots anyway - who wants to be uncomfortable in heels?
The flats and tights look nice imo. You just need a shirt that will accentuate your waist and offset the billowyness of the skirt by not being too billowy on the torso. That's my rule of thumb. Makes you look thin and makes your waist look snatched
that is,of course, until fashion gurus and famous designer tell you it is absolutely cool to wear that skirt with flat shoes, dark hosiery and a loose blouse....🙄🙄🙄🙄and it is totally out to wear it with boots and a turtleneck sweater.
2" mules, canvas wedges or 1"+ sandals. But honestly, if you want to wear beaded thongs with it, flat or slightly wedged, or the old apple-pie style white sneakers, you do you.
If you’re looking to elongate the leg the same way she’s doing here, then definitely heels. Either a closed toe heel with no ankle strap so that the calf blends into the foot making it look longer, or a strappy heel with thin straps and a minimal design elements to avoid breaking up the leg. Nude heels will also blend into the foot/leg so those will also make you appear taller. Not sure if that’s your goal, but just piggybacking off of the concept of the video.
This is very important tip mostly when I’m in a rush I wear my moccasins. And although they are heaven for my feet they don’t look as flattering as the boots.
In second time, She has also changed the upper wear with a colour settles with skirt which is creating a monochromatic look and making a person look taller.... That's not abt shoe wear or tides only...
Quite similar to the scripture above, this verse from Peter talks about how inner beauty is more important than outer beauty. God always looks at the heart, not the clothes, not the jewelry and not the riches. So, it’s not also just about the good deeds you do that makes you beautiful, it is your gentle quiet spirit and pure heart that makes you shine.
Why would you wear long boots under a long skirt? You can't see the boots and the skirt will get caught up on the boot material. Flats, fun converse, or kitten heels with long skirts, imho. Long boots with above the knee skirts. If I'm putting in the effort to wear some nice boots, I'd want them seen.

It's dependent on how you style it
Totally I dont like the boots hiding under my skirt, if Im wearing a midi ID go for boots that arents long enough to hide under the skirt
The tights and shoes didn't look that bad to me. It's mostly the shirts I feel.
Agreed! The blouse on top of the look definitely threw the look.
What? They looked awful lol

To me the blouse adds more of a waist which i need for my figure. The jumper would be too loose and boxy when combined with the skirt

It’s alright to look vintage - A-line x flats combo with a spaghetti strap top is great as a whole look!
But for a summer look and no tights though 😙
A line sure looks good for most body shapes.

Just call these videos “Balance” because that is all style is. Also you can wear flats with a long skirt. I do it all of the time.

Exactly! I wore flats with skirts all the time! It feels more comfortable than wearing high heels for me. I'm not use too high heels
just because you can doesn't mean you should
i love wearing flat shoes with long skirts bc i feel like a ballerina lol 😌
I also hate high heels, because my feet start to hurt. I'm glad I'm not the only one
It feels very Hepburn and timeless to me.
That it's so pretty! ☺️👯♀️
I think flats would be fine, just not mixed with the tights. Although, I think it would be okay with a maxi skirt that touches your feet.
If you’re short it looks frumpy, but everyone has their own style
We need more “dos” to longer skirts as we transition into autumn!

Love a-line skirts. More tips on these please.

The boots like fabulous with this dress
Thaaaaank you. I needed this.
Great tips. So glad I discovered your channel.
Very cute on the second take! ❤️❤️
What would you advice when people cannot wear heels?
Boots with chunky/platform soles can look great in a matching color. They come without a heel but add height.
Te sugiero usar otro tipo de faldas, este tipo no se ven bien con zapato plano, por ejemplo las faldas de tubo se ven muy lindas con zapato sin tacón
Can you post where the sweater is from? It's gorgeous.

The idea is to wear a longer boot to elongate the leg. It doesn't necessarily have to be a heel. Geez.
Shoes and tights can work, you just have the right color combination on everything.
Wow.....this looks fabulous.
I never wore a white skirt simply because I couldn't put items together with it. 😜
I can't wear heels because I have problems with my legs, but I also can't wear short skirts because I have to hide my problems with my legs. lmao.

What does that mean?
can you do more about styling with long A line skirts such as tops and shoes

Wear what you like and feel comfortable in and stop being influenced. There are no rules.
Si tú lo dices! Todavía no he entendido why no está bien la primera combinación con zapatos... me explicas??
