Greetings from over the pond! 🇺🇸 You are perfectly correct, Michelle!
I am a feisty 70 years old and wanting to be stylish has been my "frivolous" mantra since I can remember. The fact that I was born and raised in Italy facilitated the whole process.
Lydia you are all around excellent, your style and pieces are so tasteful, and I adore the accent - I have a friend from the Midlands who sounds just like you! Thanks for all the sound advice, every year I get fixated with a particular color - or non color - at my age I cannot do black or navy around my face anymore, it looks so dreadful and funereal. So I switched to neutral grays and blush for tops and darks for bottoms. I worked in the clothing industry, I sew and know fabrics. You are correct about proportions, colour, draping and weight all the time! When I go shopping for clothes I ask myself: "Would Lydia approve of this?". Yeah, you are this good!

I love the idea of choosing 3 different styles, which means there is something there for everyone.

Lydia, your videos have been a blessing to my life 🤍 I’ve received so much clarity about my style and it’s been easier and so much more exciting getting dressed in the morning! I think it’s when you get specific and go into more detail that helps paint an even clearer picture about our wardrobe and style.
I’m a newer subscriber (1-2 months) but I love looking at older videos and seeing the evolution of your style, and it’s so beautiful to see 🥰 Your passion for fashion and style is so authentic and practical and you express that through your content so seamlessly; you’re not like every other fashion RUclipsr.
Oh, and Tim edits your videos so well! He’s definitely an asset, for sure! Hope all is well with you all ☺️

This makes so much sense. That's why I've never been that into capsule wardrobes, you need so much variety to be able to pair diff lengths of skirts/pants.
Could you also include a skirt that ends just below the knees or on the knees? Most of my skirts are like that and I find them the most difficult to style in my wardrobe.

By showing us the outfits of before and after, it’s so clear to see how your advice works really well and gives us clear examples. I love any video that you create but lessons with Lydia are so helpful and I’m certain many of us appreciate them. Mid-calf boot would work fine with the mini but the tights have to be similar in color. It you are throwing on a nude boot, the tights have to be nude too. If you have black tights on, the boots need to be black as well.

Very helpful! I wear dresses and skirts probably 75% of the time, and had been struggling with proportions of shoes/skirt length etc for cooler months. These are pretty straight forward combinations to try. Also thinking that if I don't want to tuck in or belt a sweater, a short sweater of a similar length might achieve a similar visual effect.

Hi Lydia, love this type of video and these tips help a lot. Could you address the issue of tucking in knitwear if different weights and lengths at some point? I often pick shorter or slightly cropped knitwear partly because there isn’t so much fabric to tuck in. In your first example I would struggle to tuck anything but the thinnest knitwear into a skirt made of a thinner fabric because of the bulging tucked-in fabric that results. Also, yes I would love more in depth videos about specific pieces. 😃

What I'd like to know more about is boots. As we're heading into fall here I've got a wonderful collection of boots. Some are for wearing to work, my Blondo waterproof ankle boots, a pair in black and a pair in gray; I have an amazing pair of Justin black-on-black cowboy boots that come up just below the knee and are pointed-toed; I have a pair of black knee-high front-lace-up (looking) boots that I wear with mini-skirts; and the real mystery to me is how to wear the cognac suede Frye chunky ankle boots. I love them so much and just cannot figure out what to wear them with, so they get little use, and it's a shame! I also bought a pair of black Hunter boots for walking my dog in the rain, and I wouldn't be without my black ankle-height UGGs in black, tan, and brown: very practical in the Pacific Northwest for walking a dog in the winter. But Marie-Anne LeCoeur hates them.

I like the different styles, perhaps some lengths of skirt in between, like knee lengths vs maxis and midis.
