The Mii's voices reuse a lot of the Japanese actors. You were correct about Ness and Kirby (who have the same voices in both English and Japanese). Other voices include Fox, Simon, Richter, etc.
You mentioned how type beauty sounded like Ness. That's because Ness's voice actor did that voice. Zelda/Sheik's voice actor did active, and Pit/Dark Pit's Japanese voice actor did girl, and it's funny you say that sounded like Kirby because that voice actor also is the voice for Knuckle Joe in Japanese
For the Miis’ eyes being yellow, a similar thing happens in Miitopia, though it’s more obvious because of the greater customization, especially in Switch. Many expressions straight-up replace the eyes, like the “evil” status where their eyes turn black with red irises, and in switch it deleted all the makeup on that Mii’s eyes until the go back to normal. It’s just how Mii eyes work.
I believe there are a few glitched sleep voice lines that get cut before the loop, but I also remember there being a way to actually get the full line. I can't remember if you have to sleep them in the air or being small/big, witch timed or slowed, combination of the three, but I strongly remember this used to be a medium sized topic like a year or two ago.
If the miis can't be selected by clicking "random" (which I'm pretty sure they can't), that would explain why they aren't in smashdown, since if you only had miis left and clicked random the game would probably not do anything except play the little clicking animation and sound effect, not let you start the match, bug out, or crash.
@@Robbie_Haruna Just treat the different Miis like the game treats characters' skins. First the game selects a type of mii (a character), and then it selects a specific mii (a character's skin). This should work perfectly fine, but I assume they didn't want to bother with creating such a system, and so Miis can't show up in Random (nor in Smashdown). Ugh
@@BigLord Eh I mean honestly the Miis not being in either of those is just a whatever thing. They really should have gotten their own classic routes though. Maybe they just didn't have any good theme ideas for them since they're just blank slate characters. Maybe they could have versed other self insert protagonists. Villager, Pokémon Trainer, Ness+Lucas, Robin+Corrin and then all three Links.

Turnip doesn't use this, rather it just uses "ArticleModule::generate_article(FIGHTER_[character]_GENERATE_ARTICLE_DAIKON)," which then uses some magic to get it into her hand without it counting as a grab. The Belmont's holy water, however, activates a flag, which is handled somewhere else in common code, and I'd guess that it uses "ItemModule::have_item([itemname])," and then another function to force it out of their hand a few frames later. I don’t think bugs get covered on this series, but Mii Gunner Bomb Drop is interesting because if a projectile *visually spawns* before it does (e.g. a charging Charge Shot) and then hits it, Bomb Drop will not react to getting hit, instead of getting hit back and exploding. The exception to this is if a projectile is associated with an entity, in which case it’ll always explode.
I think the default miis are supposed to look like mario link and samus. Brawler has a red outfit, swordfighter has a blue shirt and blonde hair, and gunners outfit vaguely resembles samus armor
But the sword fighter was introduced in Smash Bros for 3DS. He had a blue shirt, and slightly browner hair. The game was released late 2014. Blue Link is from Breath of the Wild? Was he first seen with it at E3 2014? So it could still be based on that.
Meta knight's eyes change its colors depending of his emotions in kirby right back at ya! , with red being the "angry" ones and that explains why galacta knight has them in that color all the time
The thing with King K. Rool and the boxing glove is not unique to him. Any character who adds something to their model gets it kept. Trying grabbing Piranha Plant while he's charging his Forward Smash for instance.
Decided to do some testing with the Simon/Richter thing and discovered something odd that may actually have some weird use in competitive, but when it comes to characters who spawn items, like Simon/Richter, Peach/Daisy, Snake, Diddy Kong and the Links, all but Snake and Diddy cannot use their item spawning moves if they're holding the Holy Water. To add to this weirdness, Snake and Diddy actually drop the Holy Water if they use Grenade and Banana Peel, with Snake dropping the Holy Water at his feet, and Diddy, strangely, throwing the Holy Water forwards even if it doesn't match his Down B animation. Extra shout outs to Peach for having a somewhat odd animation when crouching with an item, it's not noticeable at full speed, but in slow modes, if she crouches while holding any item, her arm will animate independantly from her, moving into place a few frames after her crouch animation, it's really robotic looking too

I know it's an old video, the series ended, stuff like that, but I have to mention this because I good giggle out of it. One of Simon's victory animations is him jumping and whipping at the same time. This is a reference to Castlevania 1 on the NES. In that game once you defeat a boss, a red orb appears. Once you touch it you're unable to move with the D-pad but you can whip and jump. As a lifelong Castlevania fan I really got a kick out of that one!

There’s actually one more game mode that the miis can’t be used in. They, as well as final smashes, cannot be used in the VR mode of smash bros with the Labo VR Toy-con. It’s probably not in the wiki because no one ever plays in that mode.
The holy water grab is a thing, and you can mod the game to not throw it. You still play out the whole animation, but all the code does is take the item you’ve just grabbed and then do a unique throw animation
For the other modes they should've just had the generic WoL Miis be playable (dunno if people know you get the default appearances as playable if you unlock Miis in WoL whilst having not made any Miis), would've made more sense and it could've used the high quality renders used for the Miis on the CSS for the UI
Has anyone else noticed that shulk's neutral b gets affected in the training mode's time slow? Like try running around cycling arts in fast time and see the weird dial studder in slow time.
I like playing Smash Down. The mode I with I got to play more was Squad Strike, specifically the mode where you use a different character per stock. As someone who generally only play 3 to 8 player Smash, I never want to tell people to stop playing so I can just play a 1v1 in order to do Squad Strike. I don't know why it doesn't allow at least 4 players at once. Smash WiiU was able to handle it in the ending fight for Smash Tour.
for the ricter spirit, i believe spirits still boost some defense. for the richter sleep thing, you can put him to sleep in the air, and it will... EVENTUALLY do the proper sleep
Another interesting fact about Richter's Holy Water (Not Simon's!) is that its considered an Aura attack, similar to literally every single one of Lucario's moves.
Miis are such in a weird spot in terms of content. I really don't get why they have no classic mode. But yeah I think it's so coolwe have customizable characters. It's super fun casual with friends and also competitive really

my one problem with the Mii brawler specifically is that the charge up neutral B (Ultimate Uppercut) from the previous game was taken out instead of being fixed.
Bro the reason the holy water from richter didnt do as much as simon throwing the exact same one that he threw is bc he didnt have a spirit and this works the same for other items such as a poke ball if somebody throws it with a spirit and somebody catches it and throws it back and not do as much damage as i should is bc it is a item not a laser or sum that comes from the character i hope people found this helpfull. :)

Probably owing to the fact that Belmont down B is an item throw, you can't B-Reverse it like other special moves. Which has always annoyed me, because it would be really useful to B-Reverse it, especially given the Belmonts' awful mobility

Mii Swordfighter and Gunner have canon names associated with them in official materials from smash 4. Swordfighter is “Ken”, and Gunner is “Sophia”.

Another interesting fact about Richter's Holy Water (Not Simon's!) is that its considered an Aura attack, similar to literally every single one of Lucario's moves.
Miis are such in a weird spot in terms of content. I really don't get why they have no classic mode. But yeah I think it's so coolwe have customizable characters. It's super fun casual with friends and also competitive really
It would of been nice you could make your own classic mode route for them.

my one problem with the Mii brawler specifically is that the charge up neutral B (Ultimate Uppercut) from the previous game was taken out instead of being fixed.

Bro the reason the holy water from richter didnt do as much as simon throwing the exact same one that he threw is bc he didnt have a spirit and this works the same for other items such as a poke ball if somebody throws it with a spirit and somebody catches it and throws it back and not do as much damage as i should is bc it is a item not a laser or sum that comes from the character i hope people found this helpfull. :)

Probably owing to the fact that Belmont down B is an item throw, you can't B-Reverse it like other special moves. Which has always annoyed me, because it would be really useful to B-Reverse it, especially given the Belmonts' awful mobility
i like low-pitch type 12 mii for sans since it's the most low-key voice for a mii and knowing that the name of it is "gloomy" actually fits pretty well, too
