- Growing up poor in a trailer park has its perks. Comedian Dusty Slay explains that life is hard and that’s why it’s important to always have a good time anyway. Dusty Slay is a Nashville based Stand Up Comedian. Slay was born in Alabama raised by very happy divorced parents in a trailer park and on a farm. He can be seen on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Comedy Central, the Grand Ole Opry and was voted Top 10 Comics to Watch by Variety Magazine in 2019. Am I the only one that felt the crowd was actually quite into it? They weren’t laughing all the time but I think that’s because with his amazing style of comedy you are also listening with interest…

They were totally into it. He had them in the palm of his hand. As the great Norm MacDonald said, it's easy to make people laugh. What's hard is to make them smile.
By far my favorite comedian. You can tell he was super uncomfortable up there, but he kept going and I love him for it.

I was very depressed at my job in 2016. I was also a huge fan of The Office. I wished I loved my job as much as Michael and Dwight. I started pretending I did, focused on the positive aspects instead of the negative, and it completely changed my outlook and happiness.

The purest form of comedy is satire, hands down. It takes intelligence and cleverness to take you from one point to a place where you never knew was so funny and true! Sense of humor, " Don't leave home without it."

Netflix special brought me here. 80 percent of the jokes from the special was in this talk with a couple of minutes of what I would call behind the scenes of his story as a comedian.
Overall I enjoyed this Ted talk and I’m off to find the lady that poops at David’s bridal.

This is my dream and goal... To do a TEDx talk... I set it as my 10 year goal once I got sober... I used to do stand up, but alcohol brought me down after 3 years... So, this was encouraging to see how it's done with another comedian.

It's a ted talk style talk not normal comedy routine, the point of it is to deliver a good message of life to help others find a good mindset, dusty did throw jokes but his message was to always look for something to be happy in always cause we're having a good time🤙🏼

Love you Dusty! My dad had a 1990 Ford Thunderbird Super Coupe growing up then it became my first car. I did not know its NASCAR history but you showed it at the end of your special and I really appreciate that as my father passed away nearly 10 years ago. It was like he was reaching out, just like Alan Kulwicki.

DUSTY!! Elevating TED Talk to an even hire level of prestige than what it was, great job!! I agree 100% with your message. So much so, I took an early retirement and walked away from $50K per year, made adjustments in my life to be able to live comfortably off lesser fixed income, eliminating stress, doing volunteer work, and simply enjoying life with my wife. P.S. I also lived in a trailer park for a while when I was a kid ;)

The part that’s funny is that he actually did make a good point, as a fan of his I can understand his method of delivering said point. If that crowd had never seen him before (obviously not) they’re not going to pick up on the fact that he’s actually being positive lol

The day is May 9, 2023. I just got home from watching Dusty Slay at Zanies. It was a hot show; we had a good time. But when he told us about this Ted talk, he shared the opening line about 5 times, and neither my wife nor I could figure out what the heck he was saying. I mean, sure, we got that he pooped in *something*, but I just couldn't make out the rest. And every time I figured he was about to say it I tried to lean in and listen close, but no dice. So thank goodness this video is here, so now I know.
