Hence why Officer Cop said he "slipped up" after getting arrested when running off his property. What this has to do with Chuck e Cheese tokens I don't know

And from Hello Neighbor no less?! I also like how they gave her a black hair style. With the braids and the beds at the end instead of giving her straight white hair
i enjoy the fact that it doesn't feel like they jammed her in to try to not be accused of being racist. she actually has personality and reasons for existing.
Honestly, the way this show does horror is very reminiscent of Coraline with how genuinely dark it can be without overstepping the limits of being kid friendly so major props to the writers for that.
OK ok but with the talk of The Guest maybe speaking through him... a character having a sudden change in eye color is often used as a sign of *possession*
What's really horrifying is that we have no idea what happened to him, all we know is that the neighbor was "gentle" by his standards, he can't leave the house and there are games that aren't "safe" The horrifying implications multiply the horror tenfold
@@airplanes_aren.t_real The neighbor was "gentle" with the taxidermist, who he beat the tar out of to steal his coin. He never said anything about Nicky.
I adore how you can actually see the two of them getting more invested in the show LMAO it's like when you sit down to watch a movie with a friend and you're cracking jokes only to realize "wait this is good?" and lean forward more as it goes on
If you didn't know, the series was actually more gorey and less censored. For example, in the first episode when the lady got ran over, there was originally an actual moment that showed her body stuck in the truck's tires and it's completely shocking for a kid's show.
@@Kompressor808 Yeah, I vividly remember the scene. It got removed though, and it's the same thing with the second episode with the oil, it used to be red paint but they changed it for censorship reasons.
Mr. Peterson was actually a horrifying villain with how he sociologically broke Nickie to his dialogue and him fighting the entire f**king police force by himself and nearly winning
The fact that he went from the kid who was so into the conspiracy that he broke into his house every night; and turned into a shell of himself who wants nothing to do with whatever Mr. Peterson has going on is some classic tragic irony
The fact that he says “goodbye neighbor” in the episode after she said hello neighbor to him, actually adds to that scene, and really sets in how much she has remembered what happened in a traumatic way, to it is such a good use of one line based on another.
In the deleted scenes from episodes 1 and 2 of the series it originally showed blood but was censored and replaced with oil and also shows the corpse of the woman from the first episode.
not just the corpse either, they show the body of the woman rammed inbetween the wheel and the body of the truck. she's literally lodged in there too!!
Tbf her running with her bike, as an avid biker myself, makes plenty of sense when you consider it takes time to build momentum. I find if I wanna get moving quickly for a short distance it's more advantageous to run with it than to try to mount and ride it.
not to mention the noise of the bike starting up if it isn't maintained properly, the loud sounds of changing gears, and the time it takes to actually mount it.
I really like how they fixed Trinity as a protagonist and leader. By episode 6, she was literally carrying the group to safety and her skills as a leader shined perfectly. She never forced herself into that role like in the pilot. It didn't need to be said. It was felt and shown through the writing. The overall chemistry throughout the Inventors Club is MUCH better as well. All of these kids feel like a normal friend group that you would find in middle school.
[Th3Badd3st and Pastra in the pilot]: “These kids have NO REASON to believe that this man has done anything wrong.” [Mr. Peterson in the rest of the series]: **regularly commits domestic terrorism*

Genuinely suprised by how good that was. The self aware humour was something I wasnt expecting from mr. Genuinely the first piece of Hello Neighbor media I have enjoyed since the first alpha. Also is it perfectly acceptable to say that Theodore Peterson is my favourite slasher now? Asking for a freind.
I love and hate the fact that they seemed to have been smart with the use of corvids for The Neighbor and The Guest's theming and not make it clear which corvid they're using. It's not clear if he has crows or ravens following him. It can be hard to tell them apart since both of them are known for being smart, collecting/stealing shiny objects, being inventive with their surroundings, and holding grudges against people they feel have wronged them. But the most important distinction at play for the comparison is that a group of ravens is an unkindness, and a group of crows is a murder, and you likely won't know what to call it until you either get close enough to risk upsetting them, or watch them from a distance long enough to notice the details. It feels like I am giving them way too much credit for just using spooky black birds, but I will take what I can fucking get. The fact that they take his weird AI quirks at face-value to make him more genuinely unpredictable and unsettling is a more objectively nice touch however. He just... DOES things. He seems so lost in the long-term ramifications of his actions that he doesn't hesitate in the moment to moment stuff he does unless there's a singular, tangible consequence that gets him. And they managed to make him threatening by simply making him more mundane. He comes off like a covert hitman who isn't the least bit afraid of getting his hands dirty to maintain his secrecy.
“I have created countless abominations in my quest for immortality!” “I blew up a school.” “…why?” “For a penny.” “…stay away from me you fucking freak.”

I'm happy you enjoyed the show. As someone who actually read the books (some of them) Hello Neighbor has a actually good story, but tiny build just makes games that don't even reflect the story at all. The books are a good read, but because of Hello Neighbors reputation people don't give them a chance.
Like Matpat explained they have the lore in the games and the lore in the books too off balanced, having the books be a requirement to understand anything going on at all. This animated series did a really good job at that balance.
So I did some searching and it turns out that goddamn Man of Action worked on the series. The guys that gave us Ben 10 worked on this. No wonder it's peak.
@@jorgerosado2087tbh I blame that on Netflix, because so much was set up in the first two seasons and the pacing also really suggested that they'd wanted to do WAY more with the building of the Shatterspaces and overall story (the fucking Emerald falling into the abyss and then nothing coming of it REALLY seemed like they got forced to just do season 3 and be done.). Nicky in the final episode is fucking terrifying and gives me insane chills, as well as just how dishevelled all the kids look by the end
HONESTLY nicky getting brainwashed & traumatized is such a fun n dare I say brilliant writing decision. Its so unnerving seeing the character we’ve been following for the entire series go from brave and determined to uncover the mystery to a brainwashed husk of himself and adds to the tension as trinity and the rest of the group are forced to take the lead to try and escape.
Turning Red technically has some rep with one minor background side character, but yeah same here, can’t believe Hello Neighbor is its first for a cartoon(that I’ve seen).
Honestly was surprised by Nicky being so brainwashed and traumatized. Wonder if they'll bring him back as he's slowly coming back to himself, but still has the trauma and fear, and will at some point do what the neighbor or guest says in order to stay 'safe'. Truly shocking stuff. You rarely see trauma be presented so clearly in a show like that
Nicky is actually the protagonist of Hello Neighbor 1. Straight up the exact same person (except the show portrayed his trauma infinitely better than the game). You can see that over a decade later, in Act 3 of HN1 where Nicky's already an adult, he is still haunted by the memories and fears of his traumatizing past
@@gamesuarx I'm sorry about the attitude, but I am tired of people explaining stuff that I didn't ask for. I meant if they'd bring him back in the show, not in the game. It's like, yeah it's still within kids are able to watch this territory, but ITS ALSO DARK AF and if people say "oohh you're just afraid of something for babies" imma take a shit in their shoes
I'll be honest, if I saw vehicular homicide or a school bombing in my PBS lineup when I was ten I'd be way more afraid of terrorists or random drunk drivers than I am now. That shit would have traumatized me.
Considering Hello Neighbor has not had blood or actual violence in the game itself Seeing blood and violence in both the 1st and 2nd book as well as this new animated series, it has me a bit shell shocked to see just how much they changed and how much more darker it got
Well so far I only seen one person use it and it was the same person who praised it first about one of the Neighbor’s lines towards Trinity. So I think we’re good so far. But yeah like WHO WOULD NOT THINK ITS SCARY TO SEE A TRUCK HIT A LADY(who is stuck inside it and it’s wheel) AND THE SCHOOL BEING BOMBED?!
this video had me slack jawed so often but i think there’s something about nicky just being shell shocked after being kidnapped and tormented for weeks that had me actually kind of horrified like WHAT THE HELL. POOR KID
This is probably not an original thought by any means, but I like how the show implies an actual lore reason for Mr Peterson to not cross the property line. It seems like he doesn't want to get too far away from his house incase whatever he was keeping in his basement gets out. And it's only when it escapes that he breaks his one rule.
I’m no lawyer but I think I can answer the question of “is it kidnapping?” I don’t believe so as kidnapping typically requires moving someone to another location. I think this would probably be false imprisonment.
This is like Sonic boom. A really bad game turned into an actually pretty good show. I was glad to see some genuinely good story telling and horror, like there was some scene where I was just like “Wtf how did they get away with this?” But also, that showed me that Tiny Build (or whoever directed this series) genuinely improved their writing and world building skills over time. While this show still had its flaws, surprisingly, the cons didn’t outweigh the pros for me. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m honestly sort of interested in this show now.
the only thing that really pisses me off about this show is the fact that they keep implying that the main character can't have sugar because she is diabetic which is not true, diabetic people can still have sugar they just have to dose for it with insulin. and as a type 1 diabetic myself I find it very annoying when people just assume I can't have any sugar at all.
My dad doesn’t really use insulin, and he limits his sugar intake to basically nothing and only eats sugar free things. So honestly, the show was pretty accurate. Seeing Trinity be diabetic but just not eating sugar and keeping herself safe and healthy was nice to see. Again, not every diabetic person does the same thing, others will eat sugar while others don’t
@@humantoon true, (although it isn't possible to eat absolutely no sugar because sugar , be it natural or unnatural is a necessary part of human survival) but what really makes me angry is the fact that her diabetes feels tacked on with little to no effect. especially when you consider just how mentally taxing it can be for a child to just not eat sugar or stick themselves with a needle if they do. I understand that's a lot to ask of a Hello Neighbor cartoon but diabetes (specifically type 1) is very rarely given any proper representation in media so when it is represented I'd like it to be more than just a tiny character quirk.
This can honestly work as kid's first horror show, and they wanted to go darker originally. Absolute props to the animators and writers for diverting from the pilot because that was a great start. It was fun to watch you and Pastra's reactions gradually shift throughout the review from meme-ing on it into possibly wanting more from this series....and meme-ing on it.
The thing about the pilot setting up jokes but not telling the punchline isn’t even excusable for why it’s not funny, because anyone who’s seen the “Jschlatt tells half jokes” videos knows that exact thing can be hilarious
The thing of those half jokes is that the punchline was lack of finishing, wasn’t it? This one was outright jokes not being finished and not having a punchline since it wasn’t set up like that
Beginning:Amazing Middle : god awful to the point were they call hello neighbor the worst mascot horror Now : great the show is good hello neighbor 2 is fun and the lore is actually flushed out and it’s amazing
I love the exaggeration of his size. It’s always emphasized in the books that he’s a large, intimidating man. They nail that in the show with his thundering footsteps and showing him as being so much taller than everyone else.
THE DOLL AT 1:18:10 IS A PATHOLOGIC REFERENCE OH MY GOD I CAN NEVER ESCAPE THIS GAME I saw the other tinybuild references and thought, no, there's no way they'd put the plague game, and they DID
Yeah, usually the enjoyment from videogame to videogame adaptation goes down but, to be fair; it shows that they really cared about this project being done right.
I love how this video went from "wow this pilot is laughably bad" to "HOLY FUCKING SHIT the actual series is LAUGHABLY GOOD!!!" Even I got invested in the final episode
@@mydogghost Look at a chase scene in spider-verse, or coraline, vs this show. there’s no excitement or tension in the hello neighbor animation. This show would genuinely be way better if they’d used the models from hello secret neighbor, even without changing anything.
14:43 tbh about this, I’m honestly glad it just became more of a running joke than an actual romance. The whole idea of this random ass kid simping so hard for Trinity (I think that’s her name?) is honest to god so funny to me
37:02 same energy as SpongeBob walking back home and turning around screams, “SOMEONE WANTS TO SELL ME SOMETHING” and it’s two salesmen hiding behind a rock💀
Pastra’s stance change happening in basically real time makes me feel like I’m watching a Lovecraft protagonist witness cosmic horrors but they are staring into nothing.
I wish I knew about this show or has interest in it because DAMN... Just watching your guys' reactions alone made me invested. And I felt really horrible for Nicky. Like... What did he go through? And that's the scariest part, we don't know the Neighbor did to him! Plus the fact it had been WEEKS in that basement!! Imagine being his parents. Their child went missing, it's been weeks (maybe months at this point), and they've probably long thought their child is dead. And then for him to return home with massive amounts of trauma and definite PTSD. That's a horrifying thought!
WHat the hell???? why was it actually haunting???? Like??? I was literally about to sleep, I was like "oooo streams are usually chill and nice and its hello neighbour so its going to be goofy as heck so it'll be fiiiiiiiiiiiiiinne" NOPE that nicky mask is literally going to be in my dreams. But sadly not that much people knows about it and it doesn’t help that the games has kinda gave the franchise a bad name but i do hope it gets more of a following
I was so surprised at the quality of this show, and the joke at 1:00:40 genuinely made me laugh so hard. The people behind this should be proud that they made a good show out of hello neighbour of all series
Mr. Peterson has that W rizz, that’s how he’s getting away with mass homicide in broad daylight. Edit: Also, I noticed that Nicky’s mask while in the basement kinda reminded me of the guest’s costume, looked handmade and stitched together from various cloths and materials…. Makes me wonder if Mr. Peterson is either grooming the kids into some sort of cult, the same one referenced in Hello neighbor 2….. or he’s feeding a some demonic presence. Food for thought. Also found it interesting that the second Aaron got out of the basement, everyone immediately became aware of the neighbor and the police just…. Appeared? Like there was something supernatural that was hiding Peterson, giving him these strange rules and behaviors he had to follow in order to stay protected, never chasing someone across the sidewalk etc. Generally speaking, this show has actually renewed that childlike excitement I had for the original game, the mystery, the premise; this franchise has burned me more times than not however, so I’m not getting my hopes up (the second one was actually decent IMO but nowhere near what they promised it to be.) If they can come out swinging with a third installment, one where they don’t promise to turn water into wine and instead focusing on make a good, intriguing game with a Gravity falls esque style of storytelling, than you could really have something truly special to bring to gaming. I wouldn’t say I optimistic about the future of this franchise…. But if they can keep shit like this up? Than maybe they can win me over.
I watched this fully expecting to be laughing the whole damn time. It completely took me by surprise by it being good. And Mr. Peterson was a surprisingly compelling/terrifying villain.
This show is _shocking_ for how much it slaps. Good characters. Good dialogue. Good plot. _Incredible_ "cinematography". It masters the language of horror films, with its use of light and shadow. It's not just a good adaptation of Hello Neighbor. It's just a GOOD SHOW.
I was expecting to put this video on in the background while I did dishes, but the show actually made me invested and now I'm pissed because it's been an hour and my dishes still remain unwashed. 10/10 Would "Goodbye Neighbor" Again.
I think what makes the Hello Neighbor show good is the fact that it can tell its story in a much more straightforward manner without having to put in unnecessary gameplay mechanics.
Ngl this show has some good diversity when it comes to it's characters. Like the main character is a black girl who also happens to be a diabetic. That’s kind of interesting and cool tbh
So as a fellow HN fan I do wanna point out that the show is most likely more of an alternate universe adaptation, there are claims around that this is tied to HN 2 but tbh based on recent teaser images nothing really points there either. It's sorta a FNaF type deal where things are changed around, which is why this one is set in modern day as opposed to the games and books, where most of them were set in the 90s
I would also like to mention, If this show didn't have the children animation style and instead a more realistic or scary art style, it WOULD just become an actual horror show! AND A SCARY ONE AT THAT! POOR BUDDY IS TRUAMATIZED BEYOND REPAIR!
the pilot feels like it was written with the help of AI Dungeon or something, just based on the way dialogue goes on forever but goes nowhere and it feels like nobody's actually communicating
Let the fucking Spongebob gif come; children's media can be enjoyed by adults too, especially if it's really good. And when children's media is really good, it deserves to be praised, so that more people realize that kids deserve media that don't talk down to them. I appreciate the effort the people behind this show put into it, especially considering how bad the pilot was, and they succeeded in creating some excellent kids horror with good atmosphere, characters, and most importantly, villain

It is such a shame it ended this way. People liked the alpha builds.
It's an honest shame they put more time into the lore and stuff but the game kinda... wnet bad

Truly shocking stuff. You rarely see trauma be presented so clearly in a show like that
Nicky is actually the protagonist of Hello Neighbor 1. Straight up the exact same person (except the show portrayed his trauma infinitely better than the game). This is probably not an original thought by any means, but I like how the show implies an actual lore reason for Mr Peterson to not cross the property line. It seems like he doesn't want to get too far away from his house incase whatever he was keeping in his basement gets out. And it's only when it escapes that he breaks his one rule.
I did not expect vehicular manslaughter to appear in this show
I’m no lawyer but I think I can answer the question of “is it kidnapping?” I don’t believe so as kidnapping typically requires moving someone to another location.
Omg you are right, this show is like Sonic Boom. Man I hope it builds up love for it like how Sonic Boom did overtime.
the only thing that really pisses me off about this show is the fact that they keep implying that the main character can't have sugar because she is diabetic which is not true, diabetic people can still have sugar they just have to dose for it with insulin. and as a type 1 diabetic myself I find it very annoying when people just assume I can't have any sugar at all.
I mean to be fair to the show, she's never shown to actually use insulin, and she might just not want to have to deal with having to dose for it.
well YOU haven't been to Raven Brooks, have you?
@phoenixmarktwo if she didnt take insulin, she'd die. Coming from someone literally just out of hospital from almost dying.

Mr. Peterson has that W rizz, that’s how he’s getting away with mass homicide in broad daylight.
Edit:
Also, I noticed that Nicky’s mask while in the basement kinda reminded me of the guest’s costume, looked handmade and stitched together from various cloths and materials….
Generally speaking, this show has actually renewed that childlike excitement I had for the original game, the mystery, the premise; this franchise has burned me more times than not however, so I’m not getting my hopes up (the second one was actually decent IMO but nowhere near what they promised it to be.)
If they can come out swinging with a third installment, one where they don’t promise to turn water into wine and instead focusing on make a good, intriguing game with a Gravity falls esque style of storytelling, than you could really have something truly special to bring to gaming.
I wouldn’t say I optimistic about the future of this franchise…. But if they can keep shit like this up? Than maybe they can win me over.

Let the fucking Spongebob gif come; children's media can be enjoyed by adults too, especially if it's really good. And when children's media is really good, it deserves to be praised, so that more people realize that kids deserve media that don't talk down to them.
