Given her apparent past with chef and the fact that she was a premed student it honestly wouldn’t surprise me if Izzy was also way older than she claims to be.
@@nadroji6549 If that is the case I'd like to think that every reincarnation looks the exact same. That way when Chef says "Not again" he actually means he had a reincarnation of Izzy as one of his military pals that died in front of his eyes.
@@Jaeeden All it really needs is just the one that served w/ Chef & we're golden. TBH I wouldn't be too surprised if that were the case considering how crazy this show can get.

As someone who has literally never seen a single episode of Total Drama in my entire life: This was the most entertaining cartoon character analysis ever.
What if Izzy is actually in her early to mid 20s, but just looks like a teen. I feel like this makes sense for how smart and experienced Izzy is. This is kind of a reach, but maybe that’s why she laughed when Gwen said she just wishes to finish high school. Also, maybe that’s how Izzy knows chef. I’m not to familiar with Canadian laws, but here in the USA you have to at least be 18 to be drafted into the military.
@jazmin-qu2xk Well technically the age of consent in Canada is 16 years old which they all ( supposedly) are in island. So if it was true it would be absolutely fucked, but still not illegal.
Izzy’s pain tolerance may explain the lie detector thing. She might be being shocked constantly but doesn’t care/feel anything bc of how high her tolerance to pain is.
Right. It could be old and just going off randomly... Or it does work and she ignores the shocks or the shocks are responding against her biological state. If she can "believe" the lies and not know they are lies, it's like passing a polygraph. With her being able to come up with new personalities, it is a way to fragment her mind to make the lies more believable to her body, circumventing the shocks and saving mental resources. So maybe Izzy is like an MKULTRA fighter in the alien war.
"Either Izzy was smart enough to trick the doctor, or that's a really bad doctor." Considering by season 3 Chris was committing full on Geneva Convention/Human Rights violations, that "doctor" is probably a hotdog vendor he paid $50 to play dress up for a day.
Yep. I'm the same way. I act crazier in public than I actually am to throw off potential attackers, if they think you're crazier than them and look like you're barely holding on by a thread they tend to leave you alone. There's this skinhead in my town always staring me down whenever he sees me around town, but he's never said or done anything because I'm always carrying 2 machetes on me and look like a bum so it seems like I have nothing to lose.
Small nitpick/common misconception, Gwen wasn't the Canadian winner. Her ending only aired in Finland, Japan, Latin America, Norway, Poland, Romania and Sweden.
Honestly speaking, Heather being kept on the show on purpose makes sense. If you watch Survivor, you know that some of the most well-known contestants are the villains, so if the producers/Chris saw how much money Heather was bringing in by all the drama she causes, I could totally see them intervening to keep her on
I think Izzy having that massive breakdown on set against that guy is perfectly in character: Since day 1 Izzy has shown manipulative traits, being selfish, having possibly zero empathy or remorse for others etc. Even if she somehow wasn't as malicious before joining the show, she could have easily "Became The Mask" she was putting on for the entire show. She thought she was above being punished after becoming so famous for her acting. She thought she had outsmarted everyone and achieved everything she wanted. So she didn't try to restrain her negative traits when it mattered, ironically.
Which is a thing that happens with a lot of people, not sure the exact medical term (whether it’s narcissism or sociopathy or other) where eventually they get too comfortable. They keep self aggrandizing and think themselves invincible. That’s how most serial killers get caught.
I think this is also why she’s so mad at Beth for “lying” about having a boyfriend. It was projection: Izzy is a pathological liar and actor and knows that it’s wrong. She’s playing a role and thinks everyone else is too, so she gets mad when she thinks Beth is doing it poorly. She doesn’t get mad at Heather for being a liar because Heather never pretends to be anything but a bitch. But Beth is arguably one of the nicer (or at least unassuming) characters, so her “lying” about a boyfriend probably strikes a nerve with Izzy as a very obvious and pathetic lie.
Izzy truly has the perfect strategy. She acts crazy so no one sees her as a real threat. She loses on purpose, but also conveniently saves her team when she has to. She doesn’t even need to win. Ultimately, she just has to be the most memorable. She’s already gotten on the show. That’s already a win. If she can be the loudest most unhinged person, the audience won’t soon forget her. And she gets close enough to the guy who wins that she probably thought she could get a piece of those winnings herself. She probably never even intended to win. Just play the game as long as possible. After all, it’s not really about the money for her. It’s the thrill of the game.
An interesting tidbit for this show: Even though all the contestants are 16 years old as stated by Chris. The 43 year old Blaineley was allowed to compete on the show. So, it may be entirely possible that Izzy is a fully grown woman who has a youthful complexion pretending she's a teenager for the sake of blending in.
this has......troubling implications for her already.....horrifying relationship with Owen........tbf though, super genius Izzy is already fucked up enough to do that.
Two corrections: 1 - Izzy didn't care about the prize money. She only really cared about having fun and manipulating the game and its rules. She was intelligent enough and had the skills to win every show there is and make as much money as she wanted to but that's not the point. Also, if she did care about the prize, she wouldn't have willingly gotten herself off the show in season 1 (after coming back). 2 - I don't think Izzy knew about the second season because she read the fine print, but rather because she knew she suitcase they had was empty. A suitcase with 1 million dollars, or even 100 thousand dollars would be way heavier than an empty one. She noticed it, proven by how she claims to change her name to Kaleidoscope *after* holding the suitcase. Which is also the reason why she gave it to Justin. Not because she can't resist him, because she knew it didn't matter anyway.
I always viewed Izzy in "burdened by knowledge" archetype of character. Those people who are smart enough to dominate whatever they want, but know too much and stop functioning like a normal person. Often leading to the creation of their own problems.
@PowerNO Grief meh I'm smart enough to dominate what I'm interested in because I'm a fast learner with photographic memory so I'd say speak for yourself, respectfully. Anyway I was mostly talking about the part of not being able to function like a "normal" human being because I sometimes end up making people rethink their entire life without actually standing by anything I just told them.
Other possiblity for Izzy dressing as a bear: She did it to spice up the show, either because Chris told her to or because she thought it would get her in his good graces. As you said, she mentions in the tape that the show wont be boring with her on it, likely why she was chosen. Therefore, this woukd be a good way to further that goal.
This is a really weird piece of information that i feel not many people know about but, in an official game promoting world tour called "oh no you di'n't" you have to pick the character based off of a description and one of descriptions for Noah is "Hes the second smartest camper (next to izzy)". so officially Izzy is the smartest character, that might be useful information for this theory but honestly idk, they might of said it in the show already (i haven't watched all the series yet)
@@MaruchanPrimeNoah is probably a bit smarter than Alejandro, just wayyy less socially capable so Alejandro tends to implement his intelligence socially way better.

@@springtrap54009thank god I’m not the only one who thought of this. I was only listening to it and forgot what happened in that episode and I was like “wait..what?”
I always thought that Izzy is both insane and intelligent, where she really IS insane, but she just pretends it was worse than it actually is. Like, she’ll pretend to be crazy, but she is also just very chaotic, so ordered chaos.
I follow the theory that she's a psychopath, but one so smart that she fakes insanity (I found the theory from the channel The Theorizer, so credit to them for that)
So why does Izzy help Sierra? Maybe because the Total Drama superfan, who has seen every episode so many times, also figured out the truth. My theory is Sierra wrote a blog about Izzy's "craziness" - Izzy found it somehow, & made a deal: Sierra doesn't tell anyone what she's discovered, and Izzy supplies her with all the gossip about the cast she could ever want.
I'm realizing now that the reason izzy didn't rejoin the game in world tour is probably because of how hard it would be to track down the plane in order to get back in the game
Everyone always talks about the "Psychotherapy runs in my family" as proof she's actually crazy, but I disagree. I think she's such a good strategist and manipulator because her parents ARE psychotherapists. She was in med school to become a psychoanalyst/therapist like one/both of her parents. It would explain why she has such a huge understanding of how other people behave and the easiest ways to manipulate them into acting how she wants. It also explains how she knows /exactly/ how to act when pretending to be crazy. She's being consistent in her acting.
@@laraweinberg7635 Isn't it possible to be accelerated in school because you're too smart for what would be your year level? Like, say you're too smart for being in 7th grade so they accelerate you to 8th? Plus she did say she has an IQ of 188...
@@laraweinberg7635 beleive it or not, its entirely possible for young teens to go to college/finish high school at young age. Here in Brazil we had a lawyer by 18 years old. When he was 14, he was already doing cillege WHILE also finishing high school.
Another thing that proves that Izzy isn't crazy is in All Stars when she asks "Mike" about Mal, proving that she knows what's going on and isn't just some lunatic
I also think Izzy isn’t actually psychotic. When she says “psychotherapy runs in my family” she meant that her family ARE psychotherapists and she learned from them how to read and manipulate people. This is why she was able to see through Mike and recognize that he had DID; she knows a lot about psychology and mental conditions and could recognize it in him right away.

The show happens every summer so there are extensions between each season. she gets her head shaved in season one, she wears a cavewoman wig in season two (while obsessing over stealing Courtney’s hair), she gets human hair extensions in season 3, she fully grows back her hair in season 4. I’ve never thought about how many of Izzy’s moves were strategic, but this video was a real eye-opener. Now I believe Izzy could make a great finalist in the next season! (provided they use the original cast members)
Izzy's "character" choice was genius, assuming she was familiar with Chris's shows before and that she knows what he likes, she was sure that picking an unstable character who is not afraid to create/participate in crazy dangerous shenanigans would for sure give her a spot on the show. Also, the "crazy" persona gives her a chance to manipulate the game and the people around her by doing absurd but calculated things and STILL fly under the radar.

I feel like Izzy intentionally yelled LeShawna’s name on the final 5. She was the only one to do so, and because she realized that even the parrots words counted, she said LeShawna’s name loud enough to get as many parrots to mimic her as possible.
18:04 fun fact! There's actually a term for this in psychology, it's called "Mirroring". It's when you start copying other people's mannerisms, body language, speech, and even facial expressions. Most of the time people don't even realize they're doing it and it's actually a sign that someone liked you and tusts you. Not to say that this is what Izzy is doing or anything, I just have a lot of useless information.
i think if they ever put izzy as a host they would make her co-host with chris. chris absolutely hates this and izzy leans into it, taking his spotlight as much as possible and pushing him back down into insanity.
Just a quick nitpick: Chris introduces Chef by listing his prominent jobs, and DJ was one of them. It wasn't secret, it was a _really, really_ late callback.

1:07:13 It makes sense after the Justin confession. He’s explaining that Beth and Lyndsey were immune to his charm until he found the hair flip move. There for getting his mojo back, and there for convincing Beth & Lyndsey to vote Izzy out, “shaking things up a bit”. If Justin hadn’t discovered that new hair flip move, Beth and Lyndsey would’ve have continued to vote him out. Izzy didn’t plan on Justin getting his convincing “powers/mojo” back
Izzy’s actions in the episode also fit within the theory. We could interpret her scene with Justin where she says she doesn’t “think he’s so cute” is her grabbing the opportunity to break down his self esteem and reduce his influence over Beth and Lindsay but, unfortunately for her, it backfires and has the opposite effect where Justin instead gets creative and figures out new ways to assert his influence, i.e. coming up with that hair flip maneuver.
Izzy was my absolute favorite character as a kid, but now I'm just happy Owen broke away from the emotionally abusive relationship in order to spend time with his friends in World Tour. She's likely the first exposure to legitimate psychopathic behavior for so many people, and right under our noses while we focused on how openly mean Heather was. Except Heather got a redemption arc
The Total Trauma fancomic brings up an interesting backstory for Izzy: she was "raised by wolves" but that was a metaphor for her being raised by a pageant mom. She spent her childhood being forced into contests and beauty pageants, and it "drove her insane" (read: destroyed her mental health). I think that backstory could support this theory--if she's grown up competing in pageants and having to put on a show, to be an entertainer and interesting, that could explain how she's so good at manipulating people on the show. She seems omniscient, but really if she's spent her life being a showpig, she would know exactly how to keep her place on Total Drama Island.
I noticed you didn’t mention Izzy’s official bio, which reads: Name: Izzy Likes: Burning Things. Dislikes: Being rejected by guys that she is stalking. Known for: Howling at the full moon. Why TDI?: Willing to do whatever it takes to win, even camp out on the producer's doorstep. Izzy has been described by those who know her as a "wingnut," a "psycho hosebeast," and "some kind of crazy." For as long as she can remember, she's been a big fan of "the witching hour." Her parents once awoke at midnight to find year year old Izzy shaking the bars of her crib and howling at the full moon. They soothed her back to sleep with her favourite lullabies - horror movie soundtracks; the only music that relaxes her. Being around Izzy is like being on a roller coaster - one that hasn't been inspected for safety. Some of her favorite pastimes include impersonating her parents friends, burning things and making up stuff that scares the crap out of people. There's no rhyme or reason to what Izzy does. For instance, a guy from her school remembers when Izzy stalked him for a whole week because she had a major crush on him. He also remembers how a week later she changed her mind and threw him in a sewer. When Izzy heard about the Total Drama Island auditions, she camped outside a producer's front door for three weeks until he agreed to cast her on the show. She now has a restraining order against her and she can't come within two miles of his house. Izzy is willing to do whatever it takes to survive eight weeks of camp and is definitely one to watch. She'll definitely make the highlight reel! How does this affect the theory?
I'm not sure? It just kinda means she has weird hobbies and is 100% willing to be kinda "crazy" if it helps her chances as she's "willing to do whatever it takes to survive eight weeks of camp"
@@AzuriteCoast yeah I think it’s likely that Izzy is more manipulative and intelligent than she lets on, but that she’s also genuinely crazy, or at least extremely eccentric

"Courtney defiently would of been voted off this episode if Ezekial didn't get possessed, he's like "I have to say something sexist immediantly!"." best summary ever
Here's the thing. I grew up with passive aggressive, controlling people, always with their own hidden meanings and agendas for stuff, and growing up in a place like that, you sort of develop receptors for that sort of thing, in the same way people have receptors for when people are really listening and understanding. I also grew up with TDI, and Izzy would always set off those receptors whenever I watched the show. I may not have consciously known about this theory, but I *FELT* this theory whenever she was on screen.
Something I've always had a problem with being a big Owen fan, the campfire story he tells, he says they shot the bear. He had a gun. He's now in the woods without a gun. Of course he'd be scared. He's the missing the most important thing that saved his life. I rest my case.
even with a gun, that’s still a very difficult feat that would require the bear not having any awareness of his presence, which in canon to his farting, is impossible
6:40 i also think this mightve been a tactic to make people believe she cares for them ,seeing her so carelessly split off from her team and 'allow the besties to be together ' when actually she is just joining the better team.
I'm 8 months late but I don't buy this at all. Beth being fooled by it, sure, Lindsay? I'm not so sure, plus these two never seem to obsess over Justin after Episode 9 or 10, add on to that with how Justin very well could've been eliminated in Episode 9, I have no reason to believe Justin manipulated the two again. Also Izzy is clearly just moving the challenges along after she returns, in Episode 8 the only reason the challenge begins or is solved is because of Izzy, yet Izzy doesn't win immunity or the reward, the Gaffers do. In Episode 9, Izzy should theoretically know that the scares are fake because... Izzy loves scary movies, but yet she gets scared, and in Episode 10, Izzy could very well read the number combination on the paper not, but she doesn't, and this causes more drama for the show. This mole theory makes way too much sense in my opinion because I just don't see the votes in Episode 11 going to Izzy naturally (through Justin's "manipulation").
My theory on Izzy is that she IS a genius playing a role, but under the direction of the producers. She's so deep into the plant life that she alters who's going to win the games for good content on the show but also to influence who will continue to compete in the future to boost TDA ratings for fan favorites. She's always in the right place at the right time and it would explain how she'd know Chef. It also explains why Chris lets her get away with so many loopholes
@@shadowcween7890 Well, directly changing the votes would be met with community backlash, also it would make you question "what's the point if they're gonna change the votes in their favor?". But it is implied here and there that they do it indirectly, as so at the same time manipulate the show and manipulate the viewers&players that it's not being manipulated
Honestly going into this I was expecting to think “ well this clearly isn’t true but it’s an interesting theory” but honestly this theory explains so much of her actions. Whether she is crazy or not I think she definitely had a game plan set and manipulated events so that she would get as far as possible.
Personally I feel like Izzy is both crazy AND a genius as there is a saying “all geniuses are crazy” or something like that she’s probably had a few screw loose but is still very intelligent
If she kept up the crazy act this long she is still fuckin crazy as hell no matter what Just not the type of crazy she convinces people she is. More like genuinely terrifyingly psychotic
I was rewatching the show after seeing this and I found something important. In season 2 episode 10 about 6 minutes in Izzy talks about how she doesn't buy that Beth has a boyfriend, but she did cave in and buy an electronic sound spitter, and then she makes computer sounds with her mouth, which explains how she made the electrocution sound when she said she couldn't lie in the aftermath episode.
i never noticed this because i am Italian and only watched the series in the Italian dub, where they changed that line! in the Italian dub she said she bought an electrical salad washer
The fact Izzy kept her crazy mask to the confession, I think it's because she knows what the host wants and what the viewers want (entertainment), so she keeps the mask to become adored by the audience and even to keep her strategy up, knowing that someone might notice she isn't crazy sometime so she needs to keep her mask on until the game is over.
When Chef said "not again" I always assumed it had something to do with other deaths on the show (intern related deaths) or from a previous experience killing someone, since he thought she was dead. And reasonably he couldn't have killed Izzy before
That was my interpretation originally too but after this vid and theory, feel like Chef could potentially have also seen her die but not really in that illusive war, be that because of some alien intervention or because she was play dead being an actress or something else entirely.
It’s possible that in Total Drama Action, She had the kaleidoscope thing as a fail safe in case her plans went wrong. Which it did. It could explain why she took the challenge seriously.
I highly doubt the name change trick would’ve worked twice and I’d assume she could tell so she stayed out until the next season on purpose because she didn’t have enough loopholes yet
Izzy not only genuinely joking/threatening to kill leshawna but also??? She had a LICENSE to KILL?? is that some sort of assassin thing?? What in the world lmao

1:08:56 no matter how many times I watch this video, the transition of going from Chris forcing a disoriented Owen to vote Izzy to battlefront being canon will never not be funny 😭
27:18 since we're talking theories, there is also a theory that Chris and the producers were helping Heather so that she could stay on the show and keep stirring up drama. Come to think of it, the show would be quite boring without her, interactions between characters were pretty interesting but I don't think the show (whether within the cartoon or in real life) would've been nearly as popular and its emotional impact wouldn't be as big, also proven by how this season seems to be fan-favorite with Heather as the "main character". In other words, it wasn't plot armor, it was the whole thing being rigged in the first place to guarantee Heather doesn't get voted off. By the way, please do overanalyze her. Love your video essay.
Isn't that literally what happens in the show? And isn't that what happens in every teen drama reality competition show? They help the drama people stay in, to make it more exciting?
Fun fact, Izzy is the only contestant to be eliminated 5 times. Owen Courtney Duncan and Lindsay are the only four to come close each being eliminated 4 times. I would list the rest, but there are so many contestants who get eliminated 3 times that I won’t bother.
@@averynicewarmbowlofsoup1081 personally I don’t count anybody who makes it to the final as an elimination, since they both technically win. So that’s why. The reason Owen has four is because I count Ridonculous Race as an elimination.

Izzy's always been one of my favorite Total Drama characters and this video has just cemented that and made me love her more. This theory makes her character so much more complex, and I love that!!!
Why not tackle everyone's favorite villain turned lesser of two evils, Heather? She's interesting, she's complex, she gets the most lines, has the most diary room confessions, and you can decide if she's really a good player or just has super ultra mega plot armor because writers? Plus, there's a personal nugget I like. We know Heather's afraid of Sumo wrestlers, but have no context as to why. She's also Asian-Canadian, and Harold guesses that she used to be fat and pimply. It's my theory that when she was younger, the mean bully girls called her Sumo as a mean nickname for the fat asian girl, hence her fear of sumo wrestlers. So, I think there's enough to her character that it's not just about is Heather a good player, but how interesting of a character is she, and does her home life validate any of her actions? No, but it's fun to think about and overanalyze.

Did anyone else make note of the face Izzy made at 28:44 after Heather says she should vote with her and they'd be like bffs and Izzy just has this neutral expression on her face. Then Lindsay explains it means best female friends as if Izzy just didn't understand and that was why she wasn't saying yes. I swear the sarcasm coming of her as she makes fun of them with an 'okay' 👐is awesome because no one seems to notice, at all. Heather just does not pickup on it.
This, and the "Izzy Lied about being in the woods" are probably the best evidence for this theory in the entire show, IMO. There's literally no reason for either of these unless she has a normal(ish) brain, and is only pretending to be crazy, or at least intentionally playing it up.
@@anerrorhasoccurred8727 IMO, that could be explained more easily by them just changing that after S1. Izzy is meant to be crazy, so inconsistencies like that are more understandable and can be excused as "she overcame her fear", etc. What can't be explained away is her actively being shown to lie about stuff to seem more crazy, where it's called out to be a lie in-canon.
@@NaokarmaI think she didn't want to reveal her true fear because it gives the others leverage, like how she used the bear story to mess with everyone. She didn't want them to be able to use her "real" fear against her.
I like theories like this because honestly the plot of the show makes more sense with this. Also, as a kid I really liked Izzy/Owen and was upset when they broke up. Especially because Izzy reverts back to normal in the aftermath episode. So I thought her and Owen would like, talk about their breakup and maybe get back together? Like everyone else who breaks up we see interact with each other again (Trent & Gwen, Bridget & Geoff, etc)! But they just... never interacted after that? 💀 I was so mad about that as a kid. Even as an adult who is no longer invested in Izzy/Owen I think it's weird the show didn't do anything further with that. But honestly with this conspiracy it makes more sense; Izzy was probably just done with Owen and that was a good excuse to not get back together or talk again even when she "goes back to normal" after hitting her head again.
Broo exactly idk why but their my favorite couple and I still have hopes they get a cameo and an update on their relationship, with these new seasons coming out I'm keeping my fingers crossed
For me, this video goes alongside Spongebob's Skin theory and Ed, Edd and Eddy's Power Tierlist as the holy trinity of really long videos about someone heavily researching a completely arbitrary topic on a kid's cartoon and I love it so much.
In the case of Izzy possibly being an alien; in the Area 51 episode, Cody discovers a strange device that steals some of his DNA and replicates an EXACT clone of him, except it was a bit pale and sickly looking, probably because it was only a minute old (and it dies immediately). So we know aliens in this world can mimic humans to the point of being indistinguishable from them.
The funniest thing is Izzy in total drama Rama (the preschool version) she was crazy but a child. But she had access to bombs, plains and nukes? She had machines and often disappeared and came back at weird times. She was also close to the police seen as she somehow managed to trick cops, army troops and sheriffs by wearing there outfits. No one cared when she walked in and used there high-tech stuff or why she had uniforms in her size. Hmmm 🤔 Btw Chef was the teacher in that preschool and Izzy was always talking to Chef
Yeah, he for sure missed that detail. Most likely, Action and World Tour are only a few months apart. The main contradiction in the timeline is ironically Izzy who was able to act in at least 4 completed movie productions between the seasons which should theoretically take at least a year to make.
Wanted to add in the phobia episode, lying about a fear is much safer. Even if the characters didn't know the phobias would be used for a challenge it's not hard to believe Izzy and possibly some others lied because it's such a vulnerable thing in a reality competition that can easily be used against them. Some other characters who I believe could have been lying in that episode are Harold and Beth, as both characters did not hesitate at all when confronted with their stated fears. In Harold's case I think he not only wasn't afraid but also was happy to see ninjas since they're something he aspires to be.
I definitely felt a number of the more confident ones lied but I forgot about Beth being more confident. Youre absolutely right about her (i legit had to go back and watch the episode to confirm 😂)
If we're talking the phobia episode, and sidetracking a little, thank fuck for Chris that everyone had relatively harmless fears What was the plan if someone said a much more usual, far less friendly fear? Like death, or war, or losing a loved one I could see him going for it, but...
JUST wanted to point out that in the aftermath where Owen wins instead of Gwen and they are all hanging around the resort. There is a shot of him and her in the background; where she is CLEARLY doing the dance of the rattlesnake (which if you remember hypnotized Owen in one of the earlier episodes) maybe she was trying to hypnotize him into giving her some of the winnings 🤔🤔🤔 Love this theory btw!!
I'm in the middle of watching this video and I love it, but I do want to clarify what you said about psychosis since I'm training to be a psychologist. Psychosis is a syndrome that can be caused by many different types of mental illness such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, or by other things such as drug use, especially psychedelics. Symptoms of psychosis include hallucinations (seeing/hearing things that aren't real) and/or delusions (irrationally/emotionally believing things that are demonstrably false). Bipolar disorder, despite its common portrayal in media, in not when someone's emotions rapidly change. It is characterized by low-energy depressive episodes and high-energy manic episodes, and these phases may last weeks or even months. Because of this, I don't think Izzy has bipolar disorder, since we never see her show signs of depression (although I don't think it's controversial to say mania is a core part of her character). Not caring for the feelings of others isn't psychosis, that is psychopathy, which is confusingly similarly named but completely unrelated. It's funny, because Izzy does 100% show signs of psychopathy throughout the show according to your theory. Edit: Please read replies to see other people's thoughts, I am not a professional psychologist yet and do not know everything about psychopathy or hallucinogens.
@@leme9909 That question's complicated because sociopathy and psychopathy aren't super well-defined since neither is a mental illness. In fact, the only time I've formally learned about psychopathy is in my forensic psych class, and there I was taught that it was a legal term to describe someone who doesn't regret their actions, but from what I've seen online it seems like it's not just a legal term? But what it is (as well as the distinction from sociopathy which almost seems like a completely made-up term with how rarely it's used on its own) is inconsistent among the websites I've seen. One says psychopathy refers to personality traits while sociopathy refers to ASPD. Another says the difference is that psychopaths feel no empathy while sociopaths feel some empathy, like how I learned the difference between type 1 and type 2 psychopathy. Another says that psychopaths are better hide their uncaring nature while sociopaths are not. Many differences I've seen are contradictory to others. Personally, since I'm training to be a clinical psychologist, I don't feel like those labels are particularly helpful to use, at least not in a mental health context. I mean, we already have Antisocial Personality Disorder, which is much better defined, actually helpful in treatment settings, and less stigmatized. I'm faintly aware that psychopathy is more focused on in personality psychology, but I don't know too much about that. I should honestly stop being lazy and find some scientific papers on the topic.
I think you mistook psychedelics for deleriants, both are hallucinogens but are very different types. Psychedelics usually have a barrier knowing the things you are experiencing are caused by the substance. Be it lsd, psilocybin mescaline etc, bad trips may cause you to have temporary delusions but they arent especially common. Most psychedelics are also serotoninogenic and work on the 5ht receptor. Delriants are a completely different type of hallucinogen seperate from psychedelics, such as datura and high amounts of diphenhydramine. Unlike psychedelics, which have hallucinationsthat build off surroundings (i.e tracers, hightened color, patterns etc) most psychedelic art is of closed eye visuals and thus are much more abstract which may be here you mistook them. Deleriants have hallucinations typically seen as real by the person who took them which include things like bugs and shadow figures, some people taking deleriants will try to talk and interact with said delusions. If you want more details on deleriants i apologize asi cannot provide them, ive never done deleriants but have done psychedelics. I would hope i gave you some amount of insight

....dude. I never, not once, noticed that Izzy is just quietly in their alliance with Lindsey and Heather. I have watched TD multiple times. And NEVER. NOTICED. And looking back on everything with this theory, honestly, yeah, she seems straight fake faced evil. Holy shi-
Alternative theory on Izzy's end: someone in the gov connected the dots like you had and realized her intellect. The army coming in to take her was real. She just used personal time off to do the future guest appearances and torment the contestants of her old show.
It would be awesome if by the end of this Izzy definitively wins. She becomes the new host and, with the money she's won, spends it all to fund the show further. This ending to the entire series would be nice because not only does it essentially play into the pattern of the winners each season somehow losing it last moment and warrenting a new season, but it also leaves the idea that the show in universe continues on long after we see
I don't think she is crazy but I don't think she's an evil villain either because you can see in the episode where Owen broke his jaw Izzy was the most worried about him
He's kinda implying that Izzy doesn't care about anyone and making her out to be evil and she cares a lot about Owen even before they officially started dating
as someone who regularly shaves his head, you'd be surprised at how fast hair grows. most of it is genetics, and even if heather's hair grew on the slower end of the sliding scale its possible she used extensions to make it appear longer
As someone who regularly shaves her head, it would be totally believable for Heather to have grown back that much hair in only a year. Like you said, a lot of it’s genetics, but I could definitely get to that length in less than a year.
"Hooking up" used to mean "getting together with" as in _dating_ someone, btw. Actually, "hooking up" means different things depending on the context. I have a feeling that if the FCC asked, the show's producers would say that in _this_ case, they meant "dating."
I think the definition can be different in different places. Pretty sure it's different between the US and the UK so makes sense that Canada might have it slightly different too

16 with parental permission
in Canada you can join the reserves at sixteen and she did say she spent a summer in the reserves.
@jazmin-qu2xkYeah, but cartoons have shown those types of relationships before and since.
Uh I have a injection to that I’d that’s true then why does her mom call her a kid I think she said that
@jazmin-qu2xk Well technically the age of consent in Canada is 16 years old which they all ( supposedly) are in island. So if it was true it would be absolutely fucked, but still not illegal.
Izzy’s pain tolerance may explain the lie detector thing. She might be being shocked constantly but doesn’t care/feel anything bc of how high her tolerance to pain is.
This. If you’ve been in battle before, got shot, AND survived Chris’ challenges, you could probably tolerate a mild electric shock.
That’s actually perfect for her since it’d then allow her to fake a reaction to the shock whether she’s lying or not whenever she wants
Except, we don't hear the shock. But, we do the first time.

The cartoon was designed to mock reality shows, so Izzy being manipulative secretly to win isnt just written as a mistake.
They have a writer who religiously studied reality TV characters so most likely
Ah yes the classic example of Jungian psychology: the mask you wear serves it’s purpose well but take care not to lose yourself in it
I think this is also why she’s so mad at Beth for “lying” about having a boyfriend.

Two corrections:
1 - Izzy didn't care about the prize money.

It makes sense after the Justin confession. Izzy didn’t plan on Justin getting his convincing “powers/mojo” back
Yeah, I thought the same while watching
Izzy’s actions in the episode also fit within the theory. We could interpret her scene with Justin where she says she doesn’t “think he’s so cute” is her grabbing the opportunity to break down his self esteem and reduce his influence over Beth and Lindsay but, unfortunately for her, it backfires and has the opposite effect where Justin instead gets creative and figures out new ways to assert his influence, i.e. coming up with that hair flip maneuver.
I had just commented the same thing before seeing this
its not Lyndsey its Lindsay*
Izzy was my absolute favorite character as a kid, but now I'm just happy Owen broke away from the emotionally abusive relationship in order to spend time with his friends in World Tour.
She's likely the first exposure to legitimate psychopathic behavior for so many people, and right under our noses while we focused on how openly mean Heather was. Except Heather got a redemption arc
Notuch of one. 😑
She’s still my favorite character loll
I always thought Izzy reminded chef of someone he used to know. The “oh no not again” line seems a lot darker in the context too…
But you didn't have to cut me off
make out like it never happened and that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
I thought this too 😂
now you're just somebody that I used to know
I noticed you didn’t mention Izzy’s official bio, which reads:
Name: Izzy
Likes: Burning Things.
The horror movie soundtracks thing genuinely made me laugh
I'm not sure? It just kinda means she has weird hobbies and is 100% willing to be kinda "crazy" if it helps her chances as she's "willing to do whatever it takes to survive eight weeks of camp"
Obviously Izzy’s got a great cover story there 😂
This absolutely tanks the theory. It already felt fairly flimsy... Thanks for sharing.
@@AzuriteCoast yeah I think it’s likely that Izzy is more manipulative and intelligent than she lets on, but that she’s also genuinely crazy, or at least extremely eccentric

This is very interesting, thanks for sharing!
Something I've always had a problem with being a big Owen fan, the campfire story he tells, he says they shot the bear. He had a gun. He's now in the woods without a gun. Of course he'd be scared. He's the missing the most important thing that saved his life. I rest my case.
Even as a kid I thought that was unfair 💀 like are they really expecting him to take it on with his bare (hehe) hands?!
I’d still be scared if I DID have a gun.
Bears are scary.
even with a gun, that’s still a very difficult feat that would require the bear not having any awareness of his presence, which in canon to his farting, is impossible
@@hotjuices2Well it's improbable but not possible that he got a lucky shot to it's head
I mean yea but Owen made that story up….
6:40 i also think this mightve been a tactic to make people believe she cares for them ,seeing her so carelessly split off from her team and 'allow the besties to be together ' when actually she is just joining the better team.
"oh yeah courtney would have been voted off if ezekiel didnt like get posessed and say something sexist immediately" favorite line no cap all fact
Izzy’s second elimination in Action actually is explained. The hair flip line implies he got control of Beth and Lindsay again before they voted
Or did the producers tell Justin to say that as Lindsay and Beth don't really obsessive him as much as before after Izzy's elimination.
The way he talks it sounds more like he just assumed it worked rather than being certain.
But they didn't go as far as directly changing the votes?
@@shadowcween7890 Well, directly changing the votes would be met with community backlash, also it would make you question "what's the point if they're gonna change the votes in their favor?".
And reasonably he couldn't have killed Izzy before
i guess so, but the "yeah i get that a lot" from izzy puts that into question
That’s my thought as well. I always thought that it had to do something with him probably killing a child while serving.
Izzy respawning seems more likely
That was my interpretation originally too but after this vid and theory, feel like Chef could potentially have also seen her die but not really in that illusive war, be that because of some alien intervention or because she was play dead being an actress or something else entirely.
It’s possible that in Total Drama Action, She had the kaleidoscope thing as a fail safe in case her plans went wrong. Which it did. It could explain why she took the challenge seriously.
She also had the explosivo thing later but she still stayed out
I highly doubt the name change trick would’ve worked twice and I’d assume she could tell so she stayed out until the next season on purpose because she didn’t have enough loopholes yet

I think she mixed. They shown her parents. A asian woman and a white man

This, and the "Izzy Lied about being in the woods" are probably the best evidence for this theory in the entire show, IMO. There's literally no reason for either of these unless she has a normal(ish) brain, and is only pretending to be crazy, or at least intentionally playing it up.
@@Naokarma also lying about being scared of flying.
Not to mention the line "Im too young to die! Here, take Izzy."

I can’t believe I got something right despite not knowing anything about the field of psychology. Thanks, this is incredibly fascinating
i thought lack of empathy was sociopathy not psychopathy?

This ending to the entire series would be nice because not only does it essentially play into the pattern of the winners each season somehow losing it last moment and warrenting a new season, but it also leaves the idea that the show in universe continues on long after we see
The only reason the Simpsons is still running is cause our world will collapse without it
Now that I think about it, Izzy would be a perfect successor to Chris. She's definitely sadistic enough.
I don't think she is crazy but I don't think she's an evil villain either because you can see in the episode where Owen broke his jaw Izzy was the most worried about him
she needs to keep her facade going
@@oliviaknowstrivia Yeah but she's not a villain
He's kinda implying that Izzy doesn't care about anyone and making her out to be evil and she cares a lot about Owen even before they officially started dating
This makes Owen's song about her super sad. Like she just decided she was done acting and in doing so left a damaged person behind
as someone who regularly shaves his head, you'd be surprised at how fast hair grows. most of it is genetics, and even if heather's hair grew on the slower end of the sliding scale its possible she used extensions to make it appear longer
pretty sure heather says that her hair is made of "real horse hair"
@@star-rr2wg been forever since i watched, if they're extensions that makes sense
As someone who regularly shaves her head, it would be totally believable for Heather to have grown back that much hair in only a year. Like you said, a lot of it’s genetics, but I could definitely get to that length in less than a year.
i shaved my hair once it took 2 years for it to grow back full length
@@star-rr2wg not the 1b yaki 🤣🤣🤣
I feel like I just watched a friend talk about their hyperfixation and honestly I'm here for it. Keep up the amazing work
This never gets old this might be my favorite video on RUclips. this is something i would watch as a kid over and over again.
"Hooking up" used to mean "getting together with" as in _dating_ someone, btw. Actually, "hooking up" means different things depending on the context. I have a feeling that if the FCC asked, the show's producers would say that in _this_ case, they meant "dating."
Honestly the phrase “hooking up” became very confusing since shows used it and then the jersey shore definition came up
I think the definition can be different in different places. Pretty sure it's different between the US and the UK so makes sense that Canada might have it slightly different too
@@VCG46 Yup, growing up in Canada in the 2000's, "Hooking up" kinda just meant making out or hanging out romantically
@@jeidei8943 Im American and that’s usually what we mean too
@@VCG46 also time period plays a role because things like socal media wasn't as big as it is today
If this theory is correct, then not only is Izzy as a character *dramatically* (ah, get it?) improved, but she is now the *single most terrifying thing to hit Wawanakwa...*
S1E19 "Hook, Line and Screamer at 6:45 Izzy makes a sound imitating a throat being cut and Owen makes the comment that she's great at sound effects, so it's a canon in the show that she has that ability.
"But Cody definitely voted for Trent" GOT ME MURDERED BY LAUGHTER 😘🥰😍
