Nice save Phil, nice to see someone who cares for their equipment, & a repairer that has the knowledge to do the job properly.
Your videos help me relax at the end of a long day. Appreciate them.
Thank you 😊 I appreciate the support 🙏
Excellent job right there very practical step by step diagnosis and elimination method.
Your work is awesome mate. Just flawless. Nice to watch. A hug from Brazil.
Thanks bud much appreciated
cuppa and a smoke what a wednesday with coder , cheers phil
Haha cheers mate much appreciated
Muhaha this is exactly what I'm doing this Wednesday xD
thank you for this lesson I do have an issue with my original Ps4 right now
dude why the heck did you put so much pressure to test a diode? you damn nearly severed 8 traces and tore the solder off the right side of the diode.... lol
I didn't put a tonne of pressure, I put a little pressure and slipped, it happens. If I was to damage something I'd repair or replace it out of pocket. Accidents happen and nobody is perfect all of the time
@@TheCod3r i know i was just surprised at how much pressure you were putting on there. im sure it was much less than it seems.
Great voice over intermission.
Lol cheers mate, I thought it'd make people chuckle a little
Great work Phil mate
Congrats phill great fix
Very neat job Phil 👍
voice over steve is a legend and you know it
Haha he still needs to learn boundaries 🤣
Loved that intro big man👍💚
Haha thanks buddy
thanks a lot, learned a lot from your explanation and demonstration!
Great video Phil 😁
Thank you for the content. Help me where to start with my ps4 same symptoms. Thank you thank you. Keep up the amazing vids helpful you are
Awesome mate, glad to help. Hopefully you get yours fixed and back up and running
It is good work you are doing if is it fix or not... That very good phill
Thanks buddy
How was your holiday, Phil ? Good to see you back 👍👍
I'm still away at the minute mate, coming back tomorrow but I took my laptop so I could get a video out yesterday 😁 kids are enjoying themselves but for me it's a bit boring lol
@@TheCod3r can’t keep away from repairs ! Great videos as ever !
Well done pal 👍
Excellent video Phil! Stuck on a PS4 with this exact same issue. Have already replaced the HDMI, Encoder, and a blown filter but it still doesn't display
Thanks very much. Generally if you've run out of options it could be the southbridge which would need replacing. I'd say before going after the southbridge though just double check the port, filters, diodes and fuse and if all else fails I'd change the southbridge :)
@@TheCod3r Appreciate the reply. Thanks Phil
Great stuff 👍🏼
cool Coder be happy
all right mate the EEVblog has just done some vids on testing caps in circuit with ot removing them yay . not related but massive help. keep up the good vids.
Yeah I saw that mate, Dave is a legend, his videos have helped me massively over the past few years, especially his fundamental series
@@TheCod3r and you got to love his old school oz speak .
Good job 👍
Great video
got a question, just recently done my first hdmi port repair and i can say it went flawless, however, i still have no image, hdmi now gets detected but for a second then goes, the old port was severely destroyed with all the pins inside the port touching each other, and was powered on like that beforehand, now, ive tried removing that shield and ripped the ground pad, ive looked closely and nothing looks damaged, no shorts and the system still powers on fine with the same hdmi issue, whats the chances its the hdmi chip itself thats gone faulty? everything reads fine and i have checked my port solder joints and all look nice under the microscope. thanks mate :)
YAAAASSSS love the StezStix Fix? cameo :)
Haha VOS did great 🤣
This is interesting. I have two PS4s, one is gen 1 with the other being much much newer, and they have this issue that I need to have the TV on FIRST before I turn on the machine or the TV won't detect the PS4. I have to hard boot the PS4 and make sure I get the sequence of having the TV on first to get it to connect. This happens on multiple TVs as well. One is in my shop and one is in my home, each on their own TV.
Good video, if I had the money I'd donate as I enjoy the content, I love tinkering with electronics too. Nice fix
Thanks buddy, I appreciate the gesture, and just watching is thanks enough for me 😊
I know that this is probably common but I don't remember seeing many PS4 fix videos. Loads and loads of xbox videos though
How do you know how does it feel to pick locks? 😂
Haha I watch too much Lock picking lawyer 🤣
Great video again Phil, do you know if a faulty encoder chip can also cause a BLOD? I've got the same model here and my tv picks up a signal but no display and it's stuck on BLOD (slow pulsing) also no USB Power, hdd has been replaced but console won't go to safe mode. Holding the power button makes it beeps twich but it turns off then instead of safemode. Keep up the great contant m8 i really enjoy every video.
Cheers mate. It can if you have a short on the chip where pin 13, 15 or 16 go, but it's very rare. Generally it's going go be something unrelated like the APU or RAM
I have an original ps4 that output a picture for a little while and the next thing I noticed was that it started to output picture for a little while like on and off and now it does nothing. The ps4 has a solid white light though, so could you give me any tips about what to check on the board? The hdmi does not look damaged, but I did notice that two of the pins between the board and the hdmi connector were loose and I did reflow them, though not sure if all are fine now as I do not have a magnifying glass to check.
Hi mate how much do you charge to do this repair ive just been given a ps4 and its doing exactly the same as this one
Hi Phil my ps4 model chu-1115A boots up to white light but the tv does not see any hdmi signal at all. . When I plug my other ps4 in I do have the option to select the hdmi port that the ps4 is on. Same cable same tv. It is like there is no communication via hdmi from the ps4 to the tv. Thanks for the video
do you have any idea why mine wont have a white light ? the blue light blinks for~30s blinks and then it gets black(like there is no light ? appreciate the help
I need a help I added solder on the chip (new one) did I broke it?
Cod3r i need your help. The 2 voltage regulators in hdmi area have been damaged. They are sot23-5 i believe. However i am unable to find a replacement with the same pin configuration. I believe they are ldo, one outputs 2.2v and other 5v. There is a photo on ifixit with voltages measured. I cant buy from Ali or china because of import ban.
3:08 it's actually High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection. The more you know!
Hey I'm having some problems with my ps4 and cant really afford to send it of to Sony and was wondering if knew what the problem isI can turn it on but at some point it will just fully turn of I've re done thermal past and cleaned it fan seems to be ok but just don't know what to do
Excellent video. Can I use the hdmi encoder from a different ps4 on this model, or are there different ones on each model?
Unfortunately not. The PS4 1000 and 1100 series uses the MN86471A encoder where as the PS4 1200, PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro all use the MN864729
@@TheCod3r Many thanks for your reply!
Are you going for the Boris look? Lmao
Haha yep, he seems to get the women and success so I thought it would work for me 😂😂😂
@@TheCod3r thank God you haven't started to talk like him, you'd never be able to describe fault lol.
Edit: but then again he only fumbles his words when he lies.
@@Old_Man_Pete haha yeah but he always lies, so he's always fumbling 😂
I was just about leave message about your hair as it paused lol
Haha yep I didn't even realise until I started editing the video, so I had to make fun of myself before everyone else did 😂
Have voiceover Steve do your PCBway ads 😂
Haha I reckon he should too 🤣
Hi mate. Love your vids. Can I ask you is there a fix for PS4 pro not reading disc when inserted? It works with tapping the top as I put the disc in or if I turn the ps4 on its side when I put the disc in but is there an actual fix?!!
Yeah you'd need to replace either the laser inside the drive or just replace the entire disc drive unit. They're pretty straight forward to replace really
@@TheCod3r Much obliged Sir!
I can watch Blu-Ray movies from my PS4 through Elgato HD60 PCI on my PC. I have a HDMI2HDMI +audio adapter in line... Probably a couple of pound on FleaBay
Hi I'm wondering if you could help me I'm looking for a price for a PS4pro clean and new thermal paste price thanks for your time nic
Hiya Phil - Quick question - If all the traces from the HDMI need to be exactly the same length then how are able to run new cables when a port gets ripped out and the traces are damaged?
Good question. A lot of specification does state that for optimal performance they need the individual pairs to be matching length (I.E TMDS D0+ and TMDS D0- should match), I believe the tolerance is +3mm which seems like nothing but in terms of micro soldering and running jumpers that's pretty huge. I believe that's sometimes the reason for glitching on some trace repair jobs but it could also cause other issues like audio being out of sync or things we don't generally notice like occasional frame drops by the TV. I'm not an engineer but I believe that's how it works anyway 😀
@@TheCod3r thanks Phil appreciate the reply.
@@TheCod3r so kind of like dropping two stones into opposite ends of a pond at different heights?
Because they hit the water at different times, when the ripples finally meet they are out of sync.
@@petrolhead0387 pretty much mate, if they're too far out the data would be out of sync by the time it reaches the TV. There's actually a very good write up online about signals and tolerances for differential pairs at ez.analog.com/video/w/documents/687/hdmi-layout-guideline
I didn’t expect a Panasonic part in a Sony product
Lol yeah I think it's just because they outsource a lot of chip fab to 3rd parties
@TheCod3r Hello friend, do you remember me? ... the one with error CE-34878-0, I'll tell you that I tried digital games and it also fails after 10 minutes, it's with everyone, black screen, it shows me the error and returns to the desktop, if you touch the game it reopens and you play a few minutes again, any ideas about it?...I already did what Sony recommends and many on the web, but it's still the same...greetings.
HOW MUCH WOULD U CHARGE ME TO FIX MY PS4 MINE IS DOING THE SAME THING
Hey, Philip just wondering how I get in contact with you regarding a repair I sent via consolefix?
Hi mate, could you email phildanks@outlook.com
@@TheCod3r Sent message to the email
@@TheCod3r Hi, I haven't heard back from you. Did you get my email?
@@gulmulmiah1919 not yet mate, I was on holiday but I got back yesterday so I'll be going through emails over the weekend and trying to get back to everyone
@@TheCod3r Okay. No problem.
Hello dear, I have a ps4 pro, with artifacs, I changed all the memories, SIE, video output chip, and it's still the same, I noticed that I don't have pulses in 2 coils, I see that the fault could be 80% PWM: XDPE10281B -SY01, do you know where I can get it? On aliexp... I couldn't, I couldn't get a spare plate either.
I saw that the 2080 graphics card uses it, but I don't know if it's exactly the same model
Sadly I don't know where to get that chip. I would say though that if you have artifacts it likely has a failing APU
@@TheCod3r The strange thing is that with the reballing that I did to the GPU, it should have failed more, right?
The artifacts are not constant, and sometimes the system exits and I have to enter from the user menu again, what I don't know is that if those 2 faces that fail are activated when they are necessary or simrep are activated.
If you're Louis rossmann a donor chip is your only option you can't get new ones!!! Right to Repair
My uncle dropped his old PS5 and now it can’t play discs. He is giving me that broken PS5. I’m wondering what part of the disc drive would need replacing
I bought a new Samsung tv and when I hook the ps4 its says it recognizes a a new device but I just have a black screen. It works on other tvs just fine. Any suggestions?
Hi, did you later fix it ? Currently having the same problem and don’t know what to do.
👍👍
LOL "In like Finn" Fun fact: It's supposed to be Flynn, as in Errol Flynn the actor.
Haha yeah I think that's more of a localised thing where people from The Black Country (Dudley) always said it wrong 🤣
I have done many hdmi ic on ps4 Pro one come in the normal white light...placed new hdmi ic now it's turning on and off removed the chip as I though it could be bad still turns on and off power supply perfect tried two already hhd perfect this is the second time this happened 2x out of let's say 50 that I have done please help bodie has this happened to you before?
I've never personally had that happen but it sounds like either a 12v short or something happened during disassembly or reassembly which could've damaged the APU
How much for you to fix mines?
Actually im having the same issues as this lanuch model ps4. I bet it would of worked on a pc monitor just fine but doesn't display on tv i figured this out myself by the way and just need a hdmi replacement
I have a launch model ps4 pro
Oh no... My PS4 doesn't show the white light during boot but works perfectly.... Is that normal?
Or show the blue light after the white light
Are you taking on repairs for ps4
Yeah mate you can book in a repair at www.consolefix.co.uk
cool coser be appy
can i puchase an encoder chip
Sadly I don't have many of them available right now, and I never know if they work until I actually try them as i only have donor chips available so it wouldn't be worth my time to test them before selling them
I just watched the ps4 failoverflow demonstartion.
He said the panasonic redriver is a displayport to hdmi converter..
Maybe can you wire a displayport output before the panasonic chip?
Hello sir
man mines the exact same problem
Do you sell ps4?
Actually watched this to see a ps4 dismantled and you skipped it 🤣 fml... all i wanted know rlly wasif my ps4 got cleaned that i wont have sign back into it because cant remember my log in details and og password so automatically signs in. Will this still happen after cleaning?
Lol sorry mate. Yeah as long as you can get the console to boot and you don't have a hard drive issue (which could actually cause a black screen of death) then you won't have to sign in again
imma buy you a hdmi splitter and send it to you LOL. HDCP sucks.
Haha I do have one but it seems to flicker lately, I think I just need to replace it 😅
no offence but just get it done and stop talking so much this is getting very boring because you are talking to much.
