The thing about sending notes and markers is that - not all repair shops are as diligent and competent as you Alex. Some dipsticks still get it wrong even with notes and markers :)
If I ever damage my PS4 I'm going to stick a big love letter on some Post-it notes all over the motherboard. Love your work.
Why not learn to do it yourself?
@@sethreign8103 then he will make another Hiroshima for Alex
@@sethreign8103 because learning, practicing the trade and then investing hundreds of dollars in equipment to fix a one off device doesn't make sense?
@@sethreign8103 Not everyone is willing to invest time and hundreds of $$ in equipment just so they can occasionally fix something.
After watching your videos I'm very confident that we will evolve in the future into the Homo Repariens with a third hand, the ability to see overheating components and the superpower to not cry when discussing with customers! ;-)
And for vacation, Camping in the 9th dinension
Very nice and fast fix Alex! You can clearly see your experience on those connectors and the hot air station. Many people already having problems doing this with a soldering iron so even more respect for your skills and teaching us 👍
do you notice, probably nearly 100% of the time that a customer sends in something for repair and includes a replacement part, they deployed a Hiroshima. sending you in a replacement part is like a plead to not call it a no fix.
Hello sir , I have been doing repairs for 19 years and I thought I knew it all until I started working your channel and yes I also get notes and it gets very frustrating but I just move forward yes I understand your trying to send a message but I think this is not the way ! Thank you 🙏 for all the great work you teach us
How do so many people break of HDMI connectors?? Ive had game consoles and HD tvs for many years and have never even had 1 come loose. Are these people constantly moving and relocating their consoles? Just amazed at how often you replace HDMI connectors on devices, not even a device in particular.
Incompetence and neglect i to have had many tvs and devices over the years and still own them and not had any part of them damaged
Remember when you were a kid and you went to a friend's house and saw that they didn't take care of their things? Many of them never learn.
I have wondered exactly the same thing. My guess is kids are moving these units from room to room in their house or house to house among their friends. Once I connect my devices, I don't unplug them but I'd say now I've become a bit paranoid to do so
Great work per usual! I love having these play in the background while I'm listing items.
When you invoice and mail back to the customer you should include a note (:
Notes for everybody!
Look, 3 mins every note. 10 device a day minimum. 30 minutes wasted
@@ahyaan2552 I was being a smart ass.. Captain oblivious.
I love my new HF mini iron. Thanks for offering some great tools for us repair techs in other states. Cheers man
Man you are so amazing at this, I have a request Alex, please find time and do a live stream for us your genuine viewers maybe we will get to see what happens behind the scenes as the whole process looks enjoyable. I will be glad it that ever happen. Who cares how long it takes we don’t pay for the knowledge we get here, I’m happy to tell you that I used your knowledge and your products to repair the laptop that I had given up with and gave it out as a gift to a kid and that kid branded me as the best uncle in the world, how amazing is that!!!!
Awesome and perfect. Better than factory. Good work as always. Greets from austria
Hi Alex. You are clever, it looks simple. Well, the one who tries it will find out that it is not that simple. In addition to skillful hands, and now I don't want to advertise, equipment that can be ordered in your store is also important.
very good Alex you always do good work and tidy
your work is superior. I enjoy your channel every day
Amazing, Your work looks great very professional. I learned something from this video.
Excellent again my friend!
credit where its due. fair play to the customer removing a HDMI port while leaving its attachment posts soldered to the board while also not damaging any of the 19 pads. i couldn't do that if i tried.
In some cases, you can do that by simply cutting off the old connector and all its pins. Then using an iron, de-solder and remove the pins one by one. If you are not planning on re-using the old connector, you can destroy it to save the board.
This makes removal far easier and requires far less heat, along with far less chances of damaging the pads. I used to do this all the time when doing soldering repairs on customer units. Destroying the old component you were not using anyways made the job a lot easier.
he knew he would not be able to heat the shole thing so he cut the shield carefully and then managed to remove the connector not bad he could have removed them with low melt and installed the new conenctor with drag soldering.
Lots of respect
Merci pour vos informations et de nous initier à la compréhension des technologies de notre époque.👍
Good job mate 👍
"You got to know when to pull out"
As someone who often "Over Explains" things, I get what you're saying. People like me can be tedious and annoying to deal with. It's a bad habit, but I think more so that customer was just just in a full panic.
I'm so happy for the customer that he stopped and he is also lucky that he didn't break off pads
Awesome work, Better than Factory. I just got your mail that I ordered your sites.. I appreciate your fast shipping in perfect time. Love those order I just enjoy doing start self taught repair. I learn faster anyway I ain't call myself genius anyway ha.. God bless all Thank Northridge Fix.. my favor watch your show in those job you are amazing work in those.. it's not easy as it look.. it's mental challenge and stay focus and Patient to fix it perfect work like your . It's Awesome first time I just fixed broke t.v and sold in hour later in marketplace lol. Fun
I miss you exposing us to UV light. Nice video as always!
Thanks!
Nice video
10 thousand and one HDMI connectors replaced by now - takes pride in the work for each and every one. +1
What temprature is the solder iron at when your dojng the 4 big pins for the hdmi connector?
First time I read a note under a microscope
As someone who learned a lot of techniques watching videos on RUclips (yours included, so thanks!!! 😉), I really miss a camera angle showing your hands. I know what you're doing most of the time, but I'd like to see some details, like in what angle you hold the hot air so it won't get in the front of the microscope, for example. I'm not asking you to do that (of course, if you can, that would be great!), just pointing out that we can learn from that, too! 👍
I remember a used pc store i went to, looking for computer. They where in a busy shopping location that a restaurant ,salon or something hi end would be.
Guess theres always something to learn to do , with how everyone does it. working career.
now I know why your so good, you have three hands! haha!
i like your videos, i wish i can understand how to troubleshoot and repair
Hot air is an art in itself!
As Dirty Harry said in Magnum Force, "A man's got to know his limitations." After watching so many NorthridgeFix Obi Wan videos, I would be fearful of letting anyone but the master touch a PS5 of mine when you still can't find the thing for sale except by scalpers
never gets old
Hi and thanks for your videos! Super interesting! As a suggestion, maybe you can sometimes indicate how small the components really are under the microscope by showing something for scale like a coin or pencil or something. I think most people including myself underestimate how small the components you work with really are.
Banana for scale
@@KyleSand a man of culture 😉
More information is always better. If the two notes are identical than it's of waste time. شكرا لك يامبدع اتمنى لك التوفيق.

What a nice work
nice Vedio ☮️👍
I thought this dude was in the space station at first… 😂
It's only when you try soldering that you can really laugh at the 3 hands joke. You absolutely need 3 hands =)
Awesome ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
All your customers sound the same, cheers from Ireland
The advice on knowing when to pull out is multi-layered it works in many different aspects of life
Awesome video I turn to you if I ever need information
Customer Notes: For info on device, refer to my detailed post it notes on the board.
Please leave a note on the board explaining how you fixed the board and post the same note in email and on a4 paper. And then call the customer when it arrives
do you ever sleep? GREAT VID
Do you use oscilloscope for any repair?
I learn from you Better than school..
I really dont get how people rip the HDMI port of the board since it is stuck in place by those four legs soldered on both sides of the board. To rip the port of the board one must also rip either the legs and/or the board, but they are not. Can someone explain?
The connector will still flex enough to tear the pins from board if you apply a lot of force, such as yanking on the plug.
Nice
I would only add a. note if I missed something in the original description, otherwise, no need.
I've been watching a lot of the older videos and might not be caught up on whether or not you found usb-c ports for the hp spectre. They're on ebay new.
"You have to know [...] when to pull out" Yes, indeed. :D
8:01 why did you apply hot air? Thanks :)
Wondering which console do you get most to repair?
I think the nintendo switch because I seen lotsa episodes on that
this was uploaded at 1am your time. do you ever sleep?
The pop in issue on ps4 is a hdmi problem?
Hi brother I'm recently addicted to your videos....can you make a video for us. how you learn this repairing business who's is your repairing teacher how you learn??? How you start first time this business!!???
What happened to the broken phone that was working?
I believe people put extra notes because people feel what if the part gets separated from the work order. And you get many devices, some are similar or duplicate devices. It's a piece of mind for the customer, but I understand why it is frustrating to see notes posted on devices and on work order.
great video as always alex .. but you look fed up today ...not too happy ..?
aah, the pullout game
Not sure if this has been asked alot, but do you sell hot tweezers? New to channel.
Sorry for wasted comment... I researched and found the answer. I'm always wanting to learn more and thanks for videos, I'm growing in knowledge. Maybe be as good as you some day, but I know that will take time and experience and not a few videos and repair attempts.
Alex, I just wanted to remind you that, you forgot to pay for the air zone transpass fee.
You either need to secure the payment or otherwise, all your capacitors and resistors will be taken over on their way to the 9th dimension.
Kind regards, customs service of the 8th dimension.
I like your videos and i watched all of your videos i wanted to ask you that why you don't upload repairs of Samsung phones
Came in for repair.
Hi, what are you using to remove flux?
He uses isopropyl for cleanup.
@@khatharrmalkavian3306 Thanks. Using No-Flux right now but the smell is insane. Will try some IPA.
Is Big Boss back??
No testing ?
I really really really want to see the 4 hand technique 😎
you could utilize microphone movable arm, mod it to hold things for you
Haha he is just releasing the wick and grabbing the hot air with his left hand. No trickery. Watch as the wick moves with the soldering iron tip.
@@keiths8700 thanks Capt. Obvious.
I dont understand how i could've missed that.....
I still am not sure how that low-melt sorcery works. I mean a blob of unleaded solder must resist external liquid, unless it is a reaction like the aluminium-gallium sort of thing.
The unleaded alone has an incredibly high melting point. The low melt has no problem blending right in to the unleaded to bring down the overall melting point to where you can desolder a component without destroying it or the pads on the board. The key word there is "desolder" because that's the only reason you should use it. A little bit goes a long way and you'll need to make sure to wick that blend away before soldering anything back in.
No, it builds an alloy or some say an amalgam. Usually it's an alloy with Bismuth, Silver and Tin, while heating its mixing with the unleaded and builds new alloy with new properties
...and it's really magic! I've been using it for about a year and I'm still amazed on how well it works. Sometimes the parts fall without even hot air (just touching with the soldering iron).
@@Elektronikreparatur_Annaberg-B Wow, I see. For some reason this microscopical scale messes with my mind, but this makes sense now. Thank you.
@@viniciusvbf22 Is there a good mix ratio that you usually find suitable? For example do you have to put an equal amount of low-melt to the unleaded? or a bit more?
HAhahahaHa ...your lack of empathy is funy ,,, im huge fan ... always remember you are a celebrity for us .... huge hug from a brasilian friend ....
He looks like jaytwocents bigger brother
Both are californians so this might be the only thing they have in common
My dream is to have the same control you have on my 3rd hand
What if you team up with jayztwocents he lives in california and he looks like you (white hair) he do computer reviews check him up... Like electro boom teamed up with linus tech.. It will boost your channel to the max...you just need a way to make it works between you and him fixing something gaming computer or console related.
We need to hear whole story started at 4:10 in next video. What happend with the customer's phone ? The conversation was cut in most thrilling moment.
Just like everything.....gotta know when to pull out.
It never ceases to amaze me how people who are simply not skilled enough attempt such a repair. It looks easy, yes, but despite this, if you don't have the correct equipment and tools etc, you can bugger it up very quickly as demonstrated here.
How on Earth do you snap all four legs off the the connector ???
This is a clear example of someone who has no clue and even moreso, no business fiddling with such a device.
Go figure...
Now it's going to cost more than what the PS4 is worth just over simple incompetence.
Insane
nice work as usual i wish the like button was 100 instead of 1
Better than Factory… Impressive

Hey alex great vid as usual. I got a question for you. Are you going to have any price drops for black friday or cyber monday which is coming up ?
