- A display in the Iowa State Capitol placed by the Satanic Temple was vandalized. The Satanic Temple has had a display erected inside the rotunda of the Iowa State Capitol alongside a Christmas tree and a menorah. The federally recognized religion went through the correct administrative channels to present in the rotunda. Conservative Republican politician, Michael Cassidy, was charged with destroying the Satanic Temple’s display. He just lost his bid for Mississippi’s House District 45.

The original pledge from 1892 made no mention of god or religion.
The bigger picture here is... we now see who owns and runs Iowa state capital. To allow this??? Disgusting. I applaud this man, to God be the glory! His reward will be great. Id love to donate to his cause.
Give the first ammendment a quick read hun... if a Christmas tree is displayed then all other faiths have an equal right to the space. We live in America, not some facist theocratic hellhole. Cope.

Christians: we can display our religious symbols, but you cant

Then go on display a swastika its same thing as the satanic statue.
Right? Smh
It's not only Christians, this is offensive to Muslims as well. If they're atheist they shouldn't be using a controversial figure that's in Muslim, hebraic, and Christian literature. It's only common sense, they're practically asking for it.
@@MuerteMorrison so do they have the right to demolish christian and muslim statues? no right?
@@TheArtharianRepublic I don't mind people believing in whatever, or not believing... but why use a character that's known for diabolical acts, that's commonly known as an evil form that's purpose is to lead people a stray so it can brain wash and torment people for it's personal gain? Use a scientific term, not a diabolic figure in religious beliefs. That's just a mockery right there.
Vandalism is a crime. He is not a hero. Our Constitution allows freedom of religion and freedom of speech. The Bible commands obedience to the ordinances of man. Read your Bible.

He did. They support love and equality for everyone. While he proved that “Christian love” is belie in what I believe or die.
@@Narutocoolcat no they dont
@Narutocoolcat Or die? Excuse me, but last time I checked, he beaheded a statue and not a member of TST.
Everyone has the right to their religion, no matter if you personally like it or not. Your religion is not the only one all religions count.
What is separation of church and state again? If the 10 commandants were scrubbed from federal buildings, then so should this satanic idol.
Thats not a religion thats trolling irl.
@@Sneednfeednthis particular Capitol building erected a Christian display first, the statue was erected in response to that.
If you allow one religion to do something at a government facility you have to allow all religions to do it.....ya know per the constitution
Try telling that to firebrand Christian Fundamentalists. That lot put the mental into Fundamental!
@mrnobodytheuser2950 Actually, Satanism is a religion. It has been recognized as a religion and follows closely to paganism practices. It's not trolling. Just because you don't accept it as a religion doesn't make it not real.
CLOSE THE BORDERS
So build a wall around Mississippi?
Way to stay focused on the subject matter, Cletus.
Freedom of Religion.
I betcha that If you went back in time and told the founding fathers about this, they would add a " within reason" to the first amendment
@@aidenfarr8900you think that they would have suggested that the government should determine what's "within reason?" Ridiculous.
(which was explicitly said by the founders of the country to mean "freedom to be whatever type of Christian protestant you want to be," and every state had blasphemy laws until like the 1960s)
Satanism is not a religion. Religion is the belief of a god or gods.
That's not religion... That's an abomination but who am I to correct someone whose ears and understanding is stuck up in his or her behind.
Being physically incapable of leaving a structure that does literally nothing to you alone? Nice, big taliban energy
Kind of like all those statues that got vandalized and destroyed a few years back.
@troyjenkins3886 kind of but no. What makes this one different is its hilarity. A single upset and impotent man-baby threw a tantrum over a perceived threat to his intangible belief system. Even funnier, they just put it back up when he was done being a little snowflake in the lobby of a state capital.
A 35yo elected official at that, how embarrassing.
What is wrong with people?
I know right? Who would knock over such a wonderful statue?!?!
Freedom of religion unless it's any religion that's not christianity.
Hmmm I see your point but you didn’t take into consideration the tacos
That's exactly what the founders envisioned.
Not true, he didn't destroy the minora , which was also present
Its not a religion though, its a cult. Plus they believe in subjective morality which is not what our country is founded upon. Government is based on natural law which is based on Gods law.
He didn't touch the menorah...
Christmas tree and Santa aren’t Christian. The holiday belongs to the world without Christ, like it or not.
I am a Christian and I do not like this
I’m all for freedom of religion, and I’m not religious myself. Genuinely curious why anyone would create a religion around Satan, using his imagery, name and ideals?
If you're genuinely curious there's an FAQ page on The Satanic Temple's website. Or the Sacred Tension podcast which is hosted by a TST member and has several interviews with Lucien Greaves.
No one really believes, it's just point out the silliness of religion.
look up the beliefs on satanism. They dont believe in Satan
From TST's website:
"Satan is a symbol of the Eternal Rebel in opposition to arbitrary authority, forever defending personal sovereignty even in the face of insurmountable odds. Satan is an icon for the unbowed will of the unsilenced inquirer, the heretic who questions sacred laws and rejects all tyrannical impositions. Our metaphoric representation is the literary Satan best exemplified by Milton and the Romantic Satanists from Blake to Shelley to Anatole France."
There shouldn't be a Satanic statue there anyway. Normally I don't condone vandalism or destruction of artwork, but this one is different.Good on him.
There shouldn't be *any* religious displays there.
Unfortunately the christians insist on trying to force their religion on everyone else and so they open the door to other religions.
Next time perhaps they'll consider putting their display in one of the many nearby churches.
Thats a hate crime.
Is it wrong to hate Satan?
@@kerisagers3912 Not relevant.
So tearing down staues or vandalizing them would also be considered a hate crime?
Who put it up ?

Imagine believing a display of a fictional character is a threat to your fictional deity
Sure, there’s nothing wrong with giving Satan (the one who is only capable of stealing, killing and destroying) authority! We can see what worshiping him has done to our country and he’s just getting started. Don’t worry. It won’t take long.
